CH 8
On Monday morning Jack showed up at the SGC in his dress blues. Daniel, Teal'c and Sam greeted him when he arrived in the gate room. He greeted Sam with a passionate kiss and a hug.
"Well that is something we have to get used to from now on," Daniel said.
"Indeed"
"Thanks guys," Jack said. He put his arm around Sam's shoulder.
"We got some news for you guys," Jack said.
"What"
"Sam and I are selling both of our home and buying a new one together"
"Hey that's great"
"Well Jack and have already seen the place yesterday, it's just perfect for us"
"Well if you need any help with shifting, we can help"
"Thanks, we will let you know when that happens" then Hank shows up.
"Jack, the president wants to talk to you, soon as you arrived at the pentagon"
"Is he still in his office?"
"Yes"
"Ok, I'll drop in there first, well I better get going, see you guys later and don't give Hank here a hard time"
"Jack, you know us"
"I know, see you all later"
"Ok, have fun"
"I will" then he gave Sam a hug and kiss
"See you later sweetheart, take care of the kids while I'm away"
"I'm sure they can take care of themselves, see you tonight"
"Sure, I love you"
"I love you to, don't give the staff a hard time on your first day"
"who me"
"Yes you, you better go, you don't want to keep the president waiting"
"True" then he gave her a kiss before he was beamed away.
Sam went to work in her lab, since she had lots to catch up on since both her and Jack have been away. When she had a chance she called the agency about the house. When she got all the information she needed, she found out that another couple was also interested in the house.
So once she was finished on the phone, She went to get the white stone, once she got it, she beam herself into Jack's office, as soon as she found out where it was. Jack got a surprise when Sam showed up.
"Sam, what are you doing here?" Jack got up from his seat.
"Hello to you Jack, I just popped in to ask you, are you still interested in the house?" They both hug and kiss.
"Yes, why?"
"I called the agency, someone else is also interested, would you like for me to call the bank to make an appointment to find out how much we can go up to?"
"Go ahead, let me know when you are finish"
"Ok, see you when I return, I love you"
"I love you to"
They pulled apart, Sam pressed the white stone and she was gone. Jack returned back to work. When Sam returned back to her lab, she made a phone call to their bank.
She was lucky to talk to the manager. She gave him all the information over the phone, on both her and Jack's account, he checked while talking to Sam. Few minutes later he returned, and he asked some more questions.
Then he gave her an answer, she wrote it all down and said that she will get back to him, once she spoke to Jack. Then one of the scientists asked for her help. Which she did do.
It was 1300hours when Jack popped in, since Sam didn't return. Sam was helping one of the scientists there, so he went into her lab. He saw what she had written down about how much she can go up to and how much the payments are going to be over ten, fifteen and twenty years. He was looking over it when Sam showed up.
"Hey, what are you doing here?"
"Hi, one I'm on my lunch break, two, to come and see you, since I've waited for you"
"Ah, well those are the figures that the bank manager gave me"
"I can see that, so which one do you want to do?"
"I was thinking the ten year one"
"Yea, I was looking at it also. Have you had lunch yet?"
"No, you?"
"No, let's get out of here, and go sign for the house"
"Ok, I'll let General Landry know"
"Let me know what" Sam turned around to see Hank in the doorway.
"Sir"
"Oh, we just going to sign some papers for a house before someone else buys it and we are on our lunch break"
"Ok, see you back at 1430 hours colonel"
"Well I have to return back to Washington at 1400, don't worry, she will be back with food in her" Jack said smiling.
"Ok, when you return colonel, I would like to see you in my office"
"yes sir" then he left.
"Well we better go, time ticking by"
Sam grabbed her jacket, then headed to the locker room to get her wallet, since Jack got his car keys with him, then they headed out of the mountain together.
On their way into town Sam called the agency and asked them to get the paperwork sorted out and get both her and Jack to sign. Then she called the bank again; talk to the manager, explaining that both her and Jack were only in town for a short time and told him that they could go for the ten-year plan.
Once finish talking to him about that, she then called the lawyer and told them about buying a house and selling their ones. So they said that they would get the paperwork sorted out for them to sign.
When they arrived in town, they went to the agency to sign the papers for the house as well as fill out the forms so both of their homes will be up for sale.
Once finished there, they both went to the bank to sign the forms for the mortgage loan. When that was all done, they went to get something for lunch before heading to the lawyers.
Once everything was done, they headed back to the mountain. When they got there, they both went to see Hank. When they arrived in his office, they saw him with SG6 in a briefing. So they both went to Sam lab to talk for a bit.
"Well everything is done with the paperwork, we can set a date for our wedding, when would you like it Sam?"
"Well when the next time dad comes to visit, all we have to do is somehow get Mark and his family here for it"
"Leave that to me, ok?"
"Ok, thanks Jack"
"No problem Sam"
"Well I wonder what General landry wants to talk to me about?"
"Who know, well I better go, see you tonight, what time are you leaving?"
"When you leave"
"Ok, see you at 1800 hours then"
"Ok, I'll properly be in here working when you show up"
They hug and kiss, when there was a cough at the door; they both turned to see who it was.
"Hank"
"Sir"
"Now, now you two, no smooching on my base"
"We weren't smooching" Sam giggled, Hank chuckled.
"Sir you wanted to see me about something?"
"Yes, tomorrow, bring your dress blues with you, there is a award ceremony tomorrow afternoon, which you are to attend to on behalf of the SGC"
"Yes sir, thank you for telling me"
"Hey I'm going to be there myself, I got a call this morning about it. We can go together Sam." jack said smiling
"Sure, that's fine by me, ah Jack it's almost 1400 hours"
"Well I better get back to work, see you tonight Sam"
"Ok" they both kissed before Jack was beamed away.
"Well I better get back to work myself. I'm still getting use to this place"
"Well one day you will be able to go through the gate, if you do, one piece of advice, don't eat a big meal before you go through" Hank laughs.
"I know what happen to you, Jack told me about your fist mission through the gate"
"Yeah, did he tell you that he pushed me through the gate and I challenged him to an arm wrestling match the first day I met him?"
"The gate yes, arm wrestling no"
"Well you will have to ask him about the one day"
"Oh don't you worry, I will, see you around colonel"
"Yes sir" Sam said smiling.
Later that night, Jack beams himself to Sam lab. She was doing up a report when Jack arrived.
"Hey, how was your day" Sam asked
"Ok, I guest, my secretary I think got a crush on me" Sam laughed
"should I be jealous?"
"Na, I can handle her, any way ready to leave?"
"Yep, I'll just close down everything and get change"
"Ok"
Sam closed down her computer, once done and everything checked out, they both left together. Sam went to get change before they left. They both went to Jack place so he could get change.
"Sam, what would you like for dinner?" he called out from his bedroom
"Well how about O'malley's for dinner"
"Steak, ok" Jack walked out wearing jeans and a navy blue sweat top.
"Ready?"
"Yep, you look hot Jack"
"Thanks, so do you"
They both left in Jack's truck. Ten minutes later, they arrived there. They both found an empty table, and sat down together. A waitress walked over and they ordered both drinks and steak.
They both talk about their wedding, planning to get together for lunch tomorrow if Sam could get off early, about the house, the furniture, things like that. They didn't talk about work at all. After their dinner, they played a couple games of pool before leaving. Sam stayed for a cup of coffee and they snuggled on the couch together. For about an hour before Sam left. Jack gave her a hug and a kiss before she left.
The next day Sam worked in the morning, then she changed into her dress blues, before beaming into Jack's office. They both went out for lunch together, and then headed to where the award ceremony was being held.
When they arrived, there were other air force officers there also. So they both went to mingle for a bit, talking to some of the officers there. They even talk to Paul Davis, who congratulated them both on their engagement.
They were talking when Jack looked up and saw two figures in their dress blues walking down the stairs, Jack smiling at them both. Sam got her back to the stair casing. Jacob spotted them, and then he said something to George, who then looked over to where they were.
"You know George this place bring back lots of memories"
"Yes, they do alright, I remember the look on Sam face when you turned around to look at her"
"Yeah, she sure was surprised alright. Then meeting Jack for the first time, he sure was a barrel of laughs"
"Well he hasn't changed much since that day"
"Yes he has, so has Sam, she'll join the happy couple" they both went down to join them. Sam stopped talking and her eyes widened.
"Sam are you ok"
"Jack I sensed a present." Sam turned around to find the source, she was shocked to see who was standing in front of her.
"Dad" they both hug.
"Surprise kiddo" When they pulled back.
"Yeah, General Hammond, this is a surprise"
"It's George, remember, I'm retired"
"Sorry old habits"
"Jack how are you son"
Jacob and Jack shook hands and hugged. Then Jack shook George's hand.
"Good thanks, so you two are here for the award ceremony also?"
"I ask General Landry a favour to contact Jacob here, to see if he could make it"
"Why?"
"The comity, since the budget is going to be cut, since the goa'uld are gone and the jaffa are free"
"But sir, there are still thousands of planets that we haven't explode yet and we don't know what other threat there is out there besides the goa'uld"
"That is why I am here Sam, Selmac is going to have a chic chat with them"
"Ok, so how long are you going to be in town for?"
"It depends when I can have the meeting with them"
"Ok, it looks like the ceremony is going to begin"
They all looked up on the stage where the joint chief of staff is and the secretary of defence is. The award ceremony began; several officers got awards, and promotions. At the end of the ceremony, they got the shock of their lives.
"Now there are two more awards left. First of all can Lieutenant colonel Samantha Cater please come ford" Sam was shocked, so she walked up on the platform.
"Colonel Carter, words are hard to describe with what you and your team have done in this past year. Your work is incredible, I am always looking forward to reading your reports on what you have done. With the help of your father, Major General Jacob Carter and other friends, you help destroy one enemy and free another who has become friends now. With all of the work you do, I have the privilege of promoting you to a full colonel, congratulation Colonel Samantha Carter''
Then Jacob and Jack went up on each side of Sam, removing her lieutenant colonel badges and putting the colonel badges on. Then she saluted them all. Then Jacob gave her a hug. Then Jack gave her a hug and a kiss in front of them. Jacob chuckled.
"Now, now you two, you both still on duty" the general said, giving them both a wink.
"Sorry sir" they both said at the same time. Then they saluted, before they turned to walk back down the steps.
"Hold it there, General O'Neill" Jack froze, Sam tried not to laugh.
