CH 9
Both her and Jacob were down the bottom of the steps, when Jack returned and stood where Sam was just before.
"Brigadier General O'Neill, since you have been transferred to Washington, taking over Lieutenant General Hammond's job, well your rank isn't high enough for your new job and responsibilities. We knew that your last promotion was well overdue. What you have done in the seven years without asking any favors, not even once. We know that you made both friends and enemies over the years. Then you get promoted to what you are today. With the work you do. I have the privilege to promote you to Major General O'Neill, congratulating General O'Neill" both Jack and Sam were both shocked by it.
Both Jacob and George walk up the steps, standing on each side of Jack, as they put his second star on his shoulders, then he saluted them all, which they did back in return. Once finished there, they all walk back down the steps.
Sam was waiting down the bottom for him. When he got there, they both hugged and kissed. Then they went to talk to other personnel before leaving. They all went into Jack's office; it was the first time for Jacob. They talk for a bit, catching up on things, when Jack notices Sam was quiet.
"Sam, are you ok?"
"Yeah it's still a shock you know"
"Yes, I do know"
"Jack I was thinking about our wedding"
"When don't you stop thinking" Sam rolled her eyes.
"Well since dad is in town for a few day's. How about getting married this weekend, I know it is short notice and we don't know when he will be visiting next"
"Well I don't know Sam, there is lot to plan in a wedding"
"I know Janet, Cassie and I will go and look for a dress on Friday night, I could ask the people in the house where we are moving in to if we can have the wedding there, as for the food. I could contact the bakery in town so see if they could make up a cake for the wedding. We could buy heaps of drinks and finger food for the reception if you like, nothing fancy"
"Well dad, what do you say to that?"
"Well we got a wedding to plain"
They all beamed back to the SGC, where they spread the word about the wedding. Sam and Jack went to see the people of the house that they just brought to see if they could have a wedding there, which they agreed to.
Once they finished there, they went to the baker and looked at the different wedding cakes they got there. They chose eight layers of American round chocolate and vanilla cake with white frosting and flowers and hearts on it. Once paid for they went to the hire place to hire tables and chairs for the weekend as well as a big gazebo.
Once paid for there, they went to the florist for the wedding bouquets for Sam, Janet and Cassie. Then they headed to the liquor shop and ordered beer and wine for the wedding. Once it was paid for, they headed to the supermarket where Sam brought a cooked chicken and a couple of salads, then headed to Sam place.
Both Jack and Sam sat down to enjoy their dinner, then they both snuggled on the couch in one another's arms.
"I wonder what other surprises there are for us?"
"Who knows Jack, today sure was a surprise, I've ask General Landry if I could have Friday afternoon off so Janet and I could go shopping for a wedding dress"
"Did he give it?"
"Yes"
"Good" they both kissed and it became passionate.
"Jack"
"Mmm" Jack was kissing Sam neck
"What about a honeymoon?"
"How about my cabin"
"Sounds great, just you, me and pond with no fish"
"Hey" He moved back to look at her and she was grinning.
"There are fish in it" Sam couldn't help it, she burst out laughing.
"Jack you are biting more than the fish" Jack started tickling her, then they both kissed one more time.
"I love you" Jack said
"I love you to Jack" they both kiss one more time.
Jack felt the hairs on the back of his neck rise, so he kissed his way to Sam's ear.
"Sam something wrong, I think we been watch"
"I can't be dad, he's still on the base" they moved back.
"I'll go and check the area out, just in case"
"Ok, be careful"
"I will" they both got up,
Jack quietly went out the front door, while Sam put the jug on and got coffee for them both. Then she heard a noise out back, so she turned the backlight on and she opened the back door. She was shocked to see Jack on the ground with a gash in his forehead.
"Jack" Sam ran over to him as well to look out for whoever it was. He was uniconise, so she ran back inside and got her cordless phone and rang the SGC and asked for a medical team, then she called the cops, then she went back and stayed with him.
"Jack, please stay with me" then she heard the police arrive, so she ran into the house to let them in, when they knocked on the door.
"He is out back, I've got a medical team from Cheyanne Mountain on their way" they heard out back
"Why not call for an ambulance?"
"Cause for one Jack is major General in the air force and the work he is involved in is classified and we don't want him to let slip any classified stuff do we?"
"I guess you're right, what happen" then they head a male voice from in side
"Sam"
"Dad, out back" Jacob, Daniel and Teal'c ran out the back
"Walter called us and told us what happened, how is he?"
"As you can see a head wound, but I'm not to sure what other injures there are"
Then they heard more car doors closing. Daniel went to let them in. Teal'c uses a torch to see if he could find anything.
"Colonel Cater, I have found something"
Jacob walks over to where Teal'c is. He also looked at it, it was a gun with blood on the handle.
"Officer, Teal'c here had found what hit Jack on the head" the two officer walk over to find the gun
"Do you know who owns this?"
"Nope, sorry" Janet and her staff were working on Jack.
"What is it dad?"
"A gun Sam and it looks like Jack blood on it" One of the officers radios in, while Sam walks over to see where the gun is.
"Do you know who it belongs to?"
"Well that is not Jack gun, I know all of his guns, this isn't his"
"Ok, we will find out who it belongs to"
Then more cops showed up, searching the area for more clues. Then Pete showed up. Sam saw him
"Oh great" Jacob looked at her and then turned to see who she was looking at.
"Sam?"
"I'm ok dad" She walked over to where Jack was. He was on a stretcher
"Janet"
"I'm taking him back to the base and have some x-ray taken"
"Can I come"
"Sure" Sam turned to her father.
"Just go, I'll be ok"
"Thanks dad"
They both hug and she follows Janet out into the waiting ambulance. Then they were on their way to the SGC when they got there and into the infirmary, Janet started barking orders. Hank showed up to see how Jack is doing.
"How is he?"
"I don't know" Tears were falling down her check
"He will be ok, he been through worse"
"I know, but who on earth will do that to him, why"
"I don't know" then Hammond showed up.
"Hank, Sam how is he"
"Sir, how did you know?"
"Walter called me"
"We waiting to hear from Janet" Sam said
"What happen"
"Jack black ops radar picked something up so he went to check it out. I heard noises out back, so I went to check it out and, I saw him there on the ground" Sam started to cry even more. Hammond hug her
"I can't lose him, not now"
"You won't Sam, you seen him been through worse"
"I know" then Janet walked out, Sam turned to look at her.
"He got a skull and neck fracture, it looks like he was hit in the back of the neck quite hard. I'm trying everything I can Sam, I'm sorry"
"Is he still alive?" "
Yes, he is on life support" Sam ran down the corridors.
"Where is she going" Hank asked
"Healing device" Janet said
"Of course, we better get Jacob here as well, he can use it also" Hammond said.
"I'll call him"
Hank went into Janet's office and called Daniel. He knew that Jacob was with him. The SGC personnel were gathering to find out the latest on Jack. Sam ran back with the healing device in her hand. She went into the infirmary, she stopped when she saw him, then walked over to his bedside.
She then slipped the device on her hand. Hank, Hammond and Janet walk in and over to the bed. Then she put over Jack's body and put her other hand over it, and then she closed her eyes.
The device started humming and glowing, she moved over his neck and then to his head, a few seconds later it stopped. Sam opened her eyes and moved her hands and pulled the device from her hand and put it on the bench next to the bed.
Then she held onto Jack's hand with one hand and put her other hand on his check. They notice the heart rate was getting stronger, then Jack opens his eyes, and starts to struggle. Janet quickly went over to him
"Easy there General, let me take care of that" He was still struggling.
"Jack calm down, you going to be ok"
Jack turned his head to look into her blues eyes, and then he calmed down, he gave her hand a squeeze.
"That's it Jack, calm down, don't worry, I'm here"
Jack was blinking and Sam noticed it was more code.
'Shannon tried to kill me' Sam was shocked.
"I understand, let Janet take care of you, I'll be right back"
She bends over and kisses his forehead, and squeezes his hand before leaving Janet and his nurses to check him over. She walked over to where Hank and Hammond was.
"Sir, it was Pete Shannon who did this to Jack"
"What?" they were shock
"How do you know, he hasn't said a word?"
"Morse code, he was using his eyes for Morse code, he said Shannon try to kill me"
"I'll inform the police," Hank said, then he left them.
"Sam, are you ok?"
"Yeah, I will be now, I thought I was going to lose Jack, so I had to do something, one thing that pop in my mind was the healing device"
"You did good"
"Thank you George" then Janet came out.
"Sam he asking for you"
"Thanks Janet"
Sam walked into the room and walked over to the bed, and as soon as she saw him, tears started falling down her cheeks. Jack was sitting up a bit in bed with no tubes in him like before.
"Come here" He opened his arms to her.
She sat on the bed and went into his arms, he held her like that, stroking her back. Janet, George and Hank walk back into the infirmary. Jack saw them, they all smiled at them.
"Shh, it's ok, I'm going to find Sam" Sam pulled back so she could look at him.
"I almost lost you tonight Jack"
"Hey, you will never lose me, look at what we been through over the years, someone is always trying to kill me, look at what happen to them"
He cupped her face, wiping her tears away with his thumbs. Sam leans ford and they both kiss. Jack managed to move over on the bed so Sam could lie down on it next to him, she had her eyes closed, hearing his heartbeat, he kissed the top of her head.
"Sleep Sam"Few minutes later Jack could tell that Sam had fallen asleep.
