"Rochana is downstairs…" He said confused and to Elizabeth, these words went right through her, like daggers stabbing into her heart.

She couldn't believe she was there, at their house just a little bit after an hour of their arrival and most of all, after being with Henry for a few days in Thailand and getting him arrested. She couldn't help but begin to get uncomfortable with the thought of her there but also curious of what she would want.

She decided to get off the bed and drag her feet downstairs following Henry, her tired body screaming to her after just getting comfortable in bed. When they reached the main floor she was already in the living room sitting on the couch. Henry greeted her and without a second thought he plopped himself next to her on the couch.

"Hey Ro, what are you doing here?" He asked.

"I left Alexander and Luwan at the hotel but I couldn't stay there. After this traumatic experience. I needed to talk to someone who would understand, and you were the only person who came to mind that I really trust. I'm sorry to come here unannounced…" Rochana said to Henry, ignoring Elizabeth completely, and taking Henry's hand in hers.

"Hello Rochana, nice to see you again." Elizabeth gasped after seeing that exchange. Deep down, she knew she didn't need to worry about anything, but still, something was bothering her.

Henry looked up, blissfully unaware that most of the discomfort Elizabeth felt was due to the other woman in the house.

"I'll go get some tea and of course we can talk. Give us a minute." He said while detangling their hands, and stood up to make his way to his wife. He placed his hand on her lower back, guiding her to the kitchen where Jason was making some sandwiches.

"Henry, what is she doing here? Can't you talk with her tomorrow somewhere else?" She asked hesitantly when they reached the counter, aware that Jason was still in the kitchen listening.

"Babe, she needs to talk to me as a friend. We will have some tea and she will head back to the hotel in no time." he assured her while taking her hand and linking her fingers through his.

"Okay… I will head up though… I am not feeling quite well and I'm exhausted." Elizabeth said half lying, wanting most of all to leave the room and extract herself from this awkward situation, her headache almost forgotten.

"Okay babe, I will get up as soon as she leaves. Have some rest and we will talk tomorrow. I love you." he said while she was already making her way up the stairs, his last sentence left without a proper answer.

"Dad, is mom ok?" Jason suddenly asked Henry once Elizabeth disappeared up the stairs.

"I think she's a little tired. She had a few hard days at work and with me being away - it's taking a toll on her. Nothing that good sleep, a bath and a glass of wine can't alleviate. Don't worry about her, I will talk with her tomorrow, maybe take her out to dinner, and she will surely feel better." Henry told Jason as he started preparing the two mugs of steamed tea for him and his visitor.

"Okay dad. But your friend, she's pretty." He said with a smirk and a wink.

"Yes she is, but there is no one prettier than your mom. She is even more gorgeous than the first day I met her." he said to his son, laughing at his affirmation but speaking about Elizabeth with so much love.

When the tea was ready, he went back to the living room and sat again next to Rochana on the couch, giving her a cup of tea, and keeping the other. They started talking about everything that went on in Thailand, the religious conference, their experience in prison, their reconnection after all these years… unaware that the time was slipping by and one hour turned two and two turned three…

All that time Elizabeth was restless upstairs. She knew Henry loved her more than anything and he would do nothing to jeopardize their marriage, but something didn't sit well with her from the second Henry voiced Rochana was not with Richard anymore. After an hour, she wanted to go downstairs but didn't want to seem noisy so she just tried to lie on the bed and let sleep overcome her. After another hour of tossing and turning, awake on the bed she decided to take a shower. One hour later, she was wearing her pajamas and her hair was perfectly dried. In their bedroom there was still no sign of Henry so she decided to head downstairs to find him.

Meanwhile, the conversation had taken a turn reminiscing their time at UVA, and when Rochana saw Elizabeth at the top of the stairs, she ventured to ask:

"Do you ever think what could have happened If we had stayed together? What kind of life could we have had?"

"I don't want to lie to you. I have thought about it sometimes. We were a good team and we could have had an amazing life together..." Henry started to respond, unaware that his wife was at the top of the stairs

Elizabeth froze at this declaration and she stormed back to their bedroom, heartbroken and slamming the door shut, deciding not to hear anything else.

"… but we really didn't work as a couple. I have been in love with Elizabeth since the first time I saw her, and we have built a life I am proud of for more than 30 years, and I get to do it with my best friend and the love of my life. And I wouldn't change a thing." Henry finished and suddenly jumped when a door slammed upstairs.

He got up off the couch and started to make his way upstairs, unaware of the grin on Rochana's face.
