Tom was woken in the middle of the night by a knock at his door. He picked his watch from the table and read the time on it. 3:30 am! He sighed and tried his hardest to go back to sleep. The person was giving up that easily. They knocked again and again and again. Tom threw off his covers and got up from his bed. Whoever was on the other side of that door, they were in for it!

"Yes." Tom flew the door open to see who it was.

Rose stood on the other side. She was wiping her eyes, obviously tired and trying her hardest to stay awake as well. Tom claimed a little while seeing her there.

"Rose, do you know what time it is? Couldn't this have waited until morning?!" Tom moaned, stretching his arms.

"I thought I heard something. If I woke up Mary then she would have shouted at me. Edith would probably do the same. So you were the only one I could rely on." Rose sounded scared which unnerved Tom.

"Fine. Come on, I'm sure it's nothing and we can go back to bed." Tom grabbed his robe and threw it around him. If he was going to face a noise then at least he could be warm!

He closed the door quietly and then followed Rose to find out what the noise was. Rose might be young but she wasn't scared of this easily by nothing.

Carson was the only one awake in the servant quarters. It wasn't like he had to be awake but he had decided to after all the antics during that evening's events.

"Penny for your thoughts?" Mrs Hughes asked, coming up behind him.

"I didn't think anyone else was up. Just going over everything, you know with Sir Antony." Carson admitted as Mrs Hughes sat down.

"Well I wouldn't like to be in your mind right now! Don't think too hard over it though."

"I'll try not to but I fear Lady Edith may be hurt by the events of this weekend."

"Well don't tell her that. It might freak her out even more."

Carson smirked. Lady Edith held a special place in all of the servants' hearts along with the rest of the family. Mrs Hughes could see that something else was praying on Carson's mind however.

"She's going to be alright Carson." Mrs Hughes tried to get him to agree with her.

"I'm going to bed. Wake me up if anything happens." Carson quickly said leaving Mrs Hughes.

"Wait…."

Carson waved her advances away though. Mrs Hughes stopped with that. She let Carson leave even if there was a lot to talk about.

Tom went first, with Rose holding back a little to make sure no one was following them. She hated the thought that the noise might be someone behind them the whole time! Tom was trying to be brave but was still a little unsure as to what they may find.

"Maybe we should go back. I mean maybe I was just dreaming and didn't hear anything after all." Rose shrugged, shaking still.

"You were the one who wanted to come out here! Don't turn back now or I'm going to drag you along with me." Tom warned turning back to face Rose.

Rose looked back up the corridor. She then nodded at Tom to carry on. They finally reached the stairs. They had checked the corridor and there wasn't anything there. Maybe it was Iris running up and down the stairs, just freaking everyone out. No. No dog around. They reached the bottom of the stairs and Tom tripped.

"Tom?!" Rose yelled seeing Tom suddenly disappear.

Cora awoke suddenly after she heard Rose yell. Iris woke up with her too and then jumped on the bed to wake Robert as well. He wasn't too pleased to be woken up but soon settled down when he saw Iris on him.

"That was Rose. Come on, we've got to check if she's okay." Cora rushed out of the bed before Robert could even wake up properly.

"Cora, I'm sure Rose has got it under control." Robert yawned loudly to try to get back to sleep.

"If you don't move out of this bed, then I'll leave you to talk to Sir Antony tomorrow at breakfast." Cora threatened knowing Robert would soon come round.

Robert sighed to show his annoyance but still got out of bed anyway.

"If this is not important, then I'm blaming Rose for waking the whole house up!" Robert made sure to point out before they went to see what was wrong.

Cora smiled to herself as Robert agreed to follow her.

Rose raced down the stairs to find what had happened. She found Tom lying on the floor, rubbing the back of his head.

"Tom, are you okay?" Rose rushed to his side.

"I think so. I think I tripped on something." Tom moaned, taking Rose's hand to get up.

The light suddenly turned on and lit the whole house up. Rose and Tom looked down.

"Oh my God!"

0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Carson and Mrs Hughes had heard the yell from upstairs. Carson had tried to get to sleep once more but knew in this house, that was literally impossible! They weren't the only ones awake with Anna and Thomas waiting for them in the main servant quarters.

"What was that? I thought I heard yelling coming from upstairs." Anna asked, hoping someone had an answer.

"Anna, you go and see Lady Edith and Lady Mary. If that was Rose, she might need some support as well. Mrs Hughes go and see Lady Cora and the Countess. Thomas follow me and we'll go and find out what is going on." Carson was straight to work telling everyone what to do.

"Yes Mr Carson." Thomas answered for all of them.

The group quickly got to work with what Carson had told them. The other servants would have to find something to do when they got up. Carson had something to do and would have to deal with that first before dealing with the other servants!

"Mr Carson?" Thomas asked as they went upstairs.

"What is it Mr Barrow?"

"You don't think Mr Branson is hurt do you? I mean Lady Rose was yelling his name and…"

"I didn't think you cared for Mr Branson."

"I don't. That doesn't mean I want to see him hurt though."

"Mr Branson will be fine, Barrow. He's a tough person and I'm sure Lady Rose might be overreacting." Carson wasn't sure when saying this himself but if it calmed Barrow down for now, then he was going to say it.

Barrow stopped for a moment but knew Carson would be mad at him if he didn't keep up. If any of the family were in danger, then there wasn't any time to waste!

Edith tied her robe around herself. She wouldn't be surprised if the whole house had been woken up by Rose. She could tell this by seeing both Gregson and Edward standing outside their own rooms.

"Rose? Rose, what's the matter?" Edith called, sensing Rose's worry.

No response came from anyone. Edith turned to Gregson to get some sort of comfort.

"Edith, maybe you should go back to your room. You don't know what's happened down there and I don't want you to get hurt." Gregson tried to stop her.

"No way!" Edith rushed past his arms and down to the others.

Gregson rolled his eyes a little and went after her. It can't be that bad if everyone else was going down there!

"Rose, Rose." Edith repeated trying to get an answer.

Rose stood in fear, frozen to where she was standing. Tom saw everyone's shadows coming from all directions. He wasn't as worried as Rose was but was very happy to see everyone surrounding him.

"Oh my goodness." Gregson stopped suddenly on the stairs.

In front of them was Strallan, lying at the bottom of the stairs. Everyone stared at everybody else. This wasn't good.
