It was pandemonium as grown witches and wizards looked towards the Ministry of Magic, only for there to be no leadership. Who was to be in charge, who could they trust with the role that held so much power. With every name that had been thrown around, distrust and fear still gripped the members of the Wizengmont. Families had been torn apart, alliances crumbled under the smallest of issues.

The only one they trusted was a seventeen year old boy. The one who had been hunted down for one who had rid their world of the darkest wizard of their time. The one who they both rejoiced and feared equally.

Harry Potter.

"We need to clean house." The deep baritone of Kingsley Shaklebolt caused a ceasefire in the discussions going on in the chairs as he stood in the middle of the room.

"And how exactly do you plan to execute this?" Called the simpering tones of one woman who smiled as she looked down on the man.

Dolores Umbridge did not forget her place, or the steps she took to get to where she had in the ministry. She was not going to give it up without a fight.

"I put forward a motion, all members of the Ministry of Magic to undergo evaluation. Both for the dark mark and their allegiance." The uproar from the men and women would have shattered windows if not for the magic that was embedded into the building.

"And who pray tell, would you have administer these evaluations? Yourself?" another called as Shaklebolt stood his ground.

"A third party. There is no Minister of Magic, no Mugwump and no member short of a boy who you believe can be trusted. Each witch or wizard in this conclave would have their own agenda, and who could exploit the power given to them." he stated as he eyed each individual in the room, coming to a stop on the one who he knew had no mark but had gleefully punished innocent witches and wizards.

"You wish to bring in some third party, and what? We would become the laughing stock of the wizarding world." she simpered as she looked around the room.

"We already are," Madam Bones' somber tone rang through the room as she stepped through the door. "Some of the ICW are already here, while others are on their way. It would behoove you to not get in their way."

As he stood watching it was apparent who would truly be in danger of losing not only their seat in this room, but possibly their lives. For years many of those who supported You-Know-Who had bought their way out of trouble. He had no illusions that those same supporters would try again to do so.

"On whose authority did you call them?" Umbridge screamed as she stood, her eyes looking around the room, looking for support.

"As Head of the Auror teams, and the Charter that was put into place after Dumbeldore's defeat of Grindelwald, I have the power to call for the ICW in the event of an emergency. I believe that this particular time we have met the criteria of such an event." Shacklebolt grinned as he watched as these two witches stood toe-to-toe. While Umbridge may have the manipulative power, Bones would wipe the floor with her.

"That power can be removed, Madam Bones." the woman simpered as she stood, pulling her robes around her like a shield.

"That may be, but I would be more worried if you have something to hide. Every report that has been written, filed and notarized will be reviewed. Every position that is held and has been held will be evaluated. I would advise you not to try and destroy any of these documents that may be incriminating, as the ICW has already invoked Charter 13.5 of the Statute of Secrecy. Any and all files going back to the first Second war have been charmed and duplicated within the halls of the Department of Secrets with only two individuals holding the keys. One is Supreme Mugwump, and the other is The Head Goblin in Gringotts."

"I will not have my future in the hands of some creature!" One of the men yelled, a few agreeing with their murmurs.

"I never said that the Head Goblin would be taking part in the evaluations, he is merely holding one of the Keys to the room. If you are as innocent as you wish to proclaim, I do not see why you are so worried." Madam Bones' smile was feral.

Shacklebolt turned and stood behind Madam Bones' the same woman who had been his boss until she was pushed to the side when the Ministry had fallen. She had fought and kept as many of the half-blood or muggle borne safe as she could while still holding her position as best she could.

Even when he had to go into hiding with the Weasley twins he had done his best to keep her informed of what the Order had been trying to do; offering his help when he could. Between the two of them, they had smuggled as many of the muggle borne out of the country or at the very least into hiding.

Yes, Harry Potter could someday grow to be an amazing leader. He was, however, still a child in many eyes. If the Head of the ICW asked for his opinion he would give it. He would stand behind Madam Bones.
