The Tim Effect Chapter 4 The Arrests, a scorpion fanfic

Once they arrived at the hotel , they all went to their rooms to change and rest for a short time . Katherine , Cabe and Rusty stayed down in reception as they were not staying at the hotel .

"We need to see if the conference room is free , so we can hold a meeting with all involved and formulize the plan . Do you think it would be possible to arrange to get Walter here undetected of course ?"

"I can see what i can sought out , maybe some sort of disguise ." Replied Cabe

"How about a Burqa the style of clothes some Muslim women wear and basically only the eyes are visible . " Suggested Rusty with a smile on his face .

"That would be ideal , but were would i get one from ?" Asked Cabe .

" Leave that to me , i have a contact who may be able to help ." Katherine said immediately leaving the hotel with a quick wave to Cabe and Rusty who just sat there with looks of confusion on their faces .

Thirty minutes later Katherine returned carrying a brown paper wrapped parcel neatly tied with white string .

"What have you got there ?" Asked Cabe .

"Just what you needed , i have a friend who runs a shop that sells various styles of clothes , but specializes in clothing for Muslim women , both strict and those more interested in western style of clothes . I just hope i have guessed Walter's size correctly .

The hotel arranged for the conference room to be ready for 2.00pm. they would provide coffee and snacks and the necessary pads and pens to suit sixteen people .

Rusty contacted Simone and Nick and agreed to pick them up from Simone's apartment at 1.00pm. Cabe left to go to Walter's cabin and take him his disguise , a part of him wondering how Walter will react to the costume he will be wearing . It was imperative that Walter stays dead until the perpetrators are all being held at Homeland .

BACK AT THE CABIN

Cabe arrived at the cabin at 11.30am. , Walter was still busy on the computer double checking all his work , he was determined none of them would be able to escape from the charges on a small technicality

"Hi Walter how is it going ? Everything is set up for a 2.00pm. meeting at the hotel , so we will need to leave in about a hour's time to ensure we don't arrive late . You know what L.A. traffic can be like ." Cabe told Walter who was still busy on the computer . Once Cabe had finished speaking Walter stopped typing and turned and faced Cabe .

"But how can i go , i am supposed to be dead, and a lot of people know me around L.A. so i could be spotted and that could scupper the whole plan . " Asked a concerned Walter .

" I think you will be alright ,Rusty came up with an idea and Katherine as made it possible ." Said Cabe with a laugh in his voice .

Walter looked at Cabe with a look of despair on his face . " I'm not going to like this am i ? "

"No." Quickly answered Cabe .

"Ok, what's involved ? " An unhappy Walter questioned .

Cabe stood quiet for a moment and then just said . "A Burqa ."

"I AM NOT WEARING A DRESS ! not now not ever ." Remarked a rather petulant Walter .

"It is not a dress , it is the important part of Islamic law for the people who are strict Muslims and should never be looked down upon . It is the only safe way we can get you into the hotel without being recognized . Your presence at the meeting is imperative as you have gathered all the evidence against the three perpetrators . So you will wear it and show it all the respect and dignity it deserves . " Answered a very stern Cabe .

" Ok but no photographs , OR ELSE ." A still petulant Walter answered .

After ten minutes of negotiations between the two of them , they came to a compromise . Walter would wear the burqa but only if he wore it over the clothes he normally wore , the blue button down shirt . black trousers and black slip on shoes . Once Walter was ready Cabe was sure even Paige would not recognized him .

They arrived back at the hotel at 1.30pm. Cabe led him through the hotel kitchen entrance and made their way to the conference room . They were soon joined by Rusty , Simone and Nick . The ten agents who were staying at the hotel , began to arrive in one's and two's . The last person to arrive was Katherine who arrived just on 2.00pm. , with an apology that she had to return to Homeland H.Q. to pick some paperwork up .

Once everyone was seated and settled Katherine began the meeting by introducing every one to Walter explaining who and what he and his team Scorpion were actually capable of achieving and a quick resume of some of the jobs they had carried out for Homeland and some of their private jobs .

The first problem they needed to overcome was the arrest warrants for the three targets .Katherine was certain that one Judge in particular could be trusted and none of the targets would have any idea the warrants had been issued . Walter suggested to Katherine that the warrants be handwritten , paper warrants and not the usual method that is prefered , that of e-mail sent copies , on the off chance one of the targets came across them by chance .

Katherine agreed this would be a good idea and agreed to go and see the judge personally once the meeting was over .

Rusty was next to stand up , he had been put in charge of the logistics , by Katherine .

"Ladies and gentlemen this is a secret operation and nothing said in this room is to be mentioned by anyone until all three targets are safely locked up at Homeland H.Q. ." All of those present nodded their heads in acceptance ,

"OK ." Said Rusty turning to the white board behind him .

" "We will be taking on target 1 , due to the fact we have a ten hour drive ahead of us , we will be leaving once this meeting is over and stay , if we are lucky , in a hotel close to the target . It is essential all targets are picked up at the same time , so they are not able to communicate with one another . Strike time will be 6. . tomorrow . As already discussed Cabe will lead the team to arrest target 2 . They live in an apartment block second floor . There is a fire escape at the back , so you will need to position two of your team at the base of the fire escape , leave one member at the bottom of the stairs inside the block . Then Cabe and the other two team members can carry out the arrest . Cabe can i leave it up to you to sort out who goes where in your team ." Cabe nodded his head in agreement .

" Team 3 will be led by Katherine . Your target lives in a house , that as a rear garden plus another door on the side of the building , making a total of three exits . Two agents need to cover the back , one member the side door the others with Katherine to make the arrest . OK with you Katherine for you to sort your own teams positions ." Katherine also nodded her head .

Rusty approached Katherine and pulled her to one side .

"How quickly can you get the arrest warrants ready , we need to leave soon , we do have a ten hour drive drive in front of us ."

"let me make a quick phone call , i will see what i can do ." Walking over to a quiet corner , for a little privacy , she took her phone out and called a friendly judge she knew . Following a five minute conversation the judge agreed to issue all three warrants , which he would complete and be ready for collection in a hour . After thanking him she ended the call and called Rusty over . She explained to Rusty what had been said and then called Cabe over

"Cabe could you go and see Judge Stevens over at the courthouse and collect the three warrants he his preparing as we speak . "

"On my way ." Replied Cabe .

Walter in the meantime was being quizzed by the Dallas agents as to what he was actually doing and why all the subterfuge . All he would tell them was that it was needed to be done . They all seemed to be disappointed at the answer they were given , but as it was Walter they were trying to get the information from ,and they did not know him , they were probably lucky to get that much information from him .

Katherine , once she had finished her phone call and dispatched Cabe to the courthouse , came over and rescued him from the crowd .

"Thank you Katherine , could we go over to the corner away from the people i would like to talk to you ." Requested Walter . Katherine and Walter made their way over to the corner .

" Thank you Katherine for everything you have done for me and Scorpion since you became our handler . The only thing i did not like was having Tim thrust onto my company without anyone even approaching me . "

"That was not a decision i had no privy to until he actually joined Cabe to work with Scorpion , but i am sorry it happened ." Replied Katherine , with a certain amount of concern in her voice.

"Walter nodded his head and removed a folded envelope from his trouser pocket , handing it to Katherine .

"I want to leave this with you but i would ask you not to open it before 4.00pm . tomorrow ." Katherine accepted it with a quizzical look in her eyes .

"OK, i suppose it would not be worth my while to ask why not until 4.00pm. tomorrow ."

Walter just shook his head and slowly walked away to get himself a cup of coffee .

Cabe arrived back ninety minutes later with three , signed and witnessed warrants . He made his way over to Katherine and handed them to her . She scrutinized every one of them closely as she did not want even the slightest error to be found to give the targets any excuse to escape justice .

Cabe sort out Walter who he found seated on his own drinking his coffee .

"Time get your disguise on again and i will get you back to the cabin ."

"Do i really need to dress up again ?" Asked Walter who still could not understand the necessitate of a disguise .

" Look kid we are nearly there now , we do not want anything to go wrong now , in less than 24 hours all this should be over .

After another little protest ,with Cabe's help he donned his disguise again . Rusty , Simone and Nick all came over to say goodbye as they were leaving for their destination .

Walter walked over to Katherine to say goodbye , with what to a keen observer would see , tears in his eyes.

Cabe and Walter left and were back at the cabin inside a hour . Cabe put a pot of coffee on , and they sat around for over an hour reminiscing over their past times together since Cabe reconnected with Walter and his team of geniuses Scorpion . When Cabe was ready to leave Walter said an emotional goodbye to him .

"Hey kid what's all this i will be back in the morning to pick you up and take you back to the garage ." Said Cabe .

" I know ,but things are coming to an end , i had not realized until today what that might be ." Walter replied as he made his way to the computer , he picked up an envelope from the side of the computer and handed to Cabe .

"Take this but please do not open it until after 4.00pm. tomorrow ." Cabe took the envelope and as he did Walter pulled him into a man hug . A surprised Cabe returned the hug , the first time Walter had ever attempted any sort of human contact to him .

Soon after a somewhat confused Cabe left the cabin , still trying to figure out what just happened .

It was after 2.00a.m. when Rusty and his team arrived close to their destination . As they would to be up at 5.00a.m. they deceived to get some sleep in the car . At 5.00a. woke the other two up and drove to an all-night McDonalds were they bought coffee and breakfast buns to go .

Nick had taken over the driving and made their way to Pelican Bay State Prison , a supermax facility which was the current home of target 1 . Arriving at the main gate at 5.50a. introduced themselves to reception guard and produced paperwork supplied by Homeland and the arrest warrants . The night Warden came down to reception , a tall bald headed man appeared and introduced himself as Warden Squires . A message had been left by the day Warden to expect them and everything was set up . Warden Squires allocated two guards to escort the team to the correct cell .

The target was asleep in his bunk in the Security Housing Unit , but was soon woken by the guard rattling the bars with his baton . Once awake he was made to stand well away from the cell door. The guard opened the cell door . Rusty and his team entered and the door shut behind them . The first thing Rusty did was to read the prisoner his rights . Mark Collins -You have the right to remain silent . Anything you say can be used against you in court . You have the right to talk to a lawyer for advise before we ask you any questions You have the right to have a lawyer with you during questioning . If you cannot afford a lawyer one will be appointed for you before questioning if you wish . If you decide to answer questions now without a lawyer present ,you have the right to stop answering at any time .

Mark Collins you are under arrest for bribery with the intention of bringing about the downfall of a highly recognized and valuable Government Asset ,which could lead to further charges of treason ." Mark just laughed at them as he spoke ." You three , get me to Homeland , three stooges , a woman , a pensioner , and a nerd no chance . "

No one really seemed to see Simone move but she flicked her hand out and just touched Mark's neck with a finger . He screamed and fell to the floor writhing in pain .

"Never call Simone just a woman , not one with a black belt in Karate , Judo and Kyusho Jitsu . Just in case you are wondering that is a way of attacking the nervous system to control and subdue an attacker . Now get up and stop being a baby , and go and stand in that corner . Nick !" As Rusty spoke to Nick , Nick took his backpack off , opened it and removed a set of handcuffs , which he quickly put on Collins , he then removed a set of leg shackles that he put onto Collins ankles , the last thing he removed was a length of chain with two padlocks , he connected one end to the handcuffs the other to the leg shackles , basically reducing Collins movement to a slow shuffle .

" Right now he his secured we will do a cell search , check everywhere and i mean everywhere ." As Rusty finished speaking Collins went to protest , but saw Simone take a step forward and quickly shut his mouth .

The search took 15 minutes and turned up a cell phone , note pad and pen , plus a couple of articles about Scorpion . All had been found inside of the bed mattress . Collins tried to put up a front on but his eyes told a different story , he knew the phone contained some damming information .

They left the prison two hours after they arrived , with another ten hour journey in front of them . Nick carried on driving so Rusty could sleep as he had driven all the way there .

After about a hour drive Collins began to complain that he was uncomfortable in a whining type of voice , After about five minutes , Rusty opened his eyes and said .

" Simone his voice is getting on my nerves ." Not giving any reply Simone quickly moved her hand and caught Collins across the throat. He let out what he expected to be a yell , but no sound came out of his mouth .

"I have stunned your vocal chord , but don't worry you will be back to normal in about ten hours . Do not anger me anymore or i will really hurt you . "

Collins tried to get as far away from Simone as possible , but his size soon meant he was pushed hard against the car's door , he began shaking his head vigerosly .Simone laughed before speaking .

" It is a pity we are not in Bulgaria the amount he his shaking his head would have meant he really wanted to be hurt ."

The rest of the journey was made in comparative peace and quiet .

5.45am. LOS ANGELES

The other two teams were all in position awaiting for 6.00am. to arrive . Exactly at 6.00am. Katherine led her team from the car , all

members took up their positions they had been assigned . Once everyone was in position , Katherine gave the order to enter , the door was kicked in and Katherine and her agents stormed through the door .

"Homeland agents ,no one is to move ." Shouted Katherine , sending the two agents upstairs , she quickly checked the downstairs room's , but no one was there , she opened the backdoor to let the two agents from the back in and told them to stay in the kitchen , she then let the agent at the side door in , with instructions to follow her . They made their way upstairs to be met by the other two agents ,who were holding two very confused people .

"Stuart Blackman , you are under arrest for accepting a large bribe which as led to an attempt to destroy a very important goverment asset , so much so the charge could be changed to treason . "

The man and woman stood with open mouths while Katherine read him his rights . "What have you done Stuart ?" Asked the woman standing at his side .

He could not answer as he was to stunned as he thought the bribe was untraceable .

"Take them down stairs and you two stop up here to search for anything that may be of used as evidence . " Instructed Katherine .

Katherine went down to join the others . As she entered the room Stuart having got his voice back ,looked at Katherine .

"My wife knows nothing about any of this , so please can you take the handcuffs off her . I will tell you all i know . "

Katherine looked at him , before speaking . "Why on earth would you do something like this , you had an important and secure job . But do not say anything until we are at Homeland in an interview room ."

The search found a home computer but little else . Stuart and all of the team returned to H.Q. leaving Stuart's wife at home.

At the same time Katherine was gaining entry to Stuart's, Cabe and his team were doing the same at his targets address . As Cabe rushed through the door , he almost ran into the target who was coming out of his bedroom door , the target stopped dead in his tracks , and shouted .

"What the hell Cabe ? "

"Timothy Armstrong you are under arrest for accepting a large bribe ,intending to destroy an important Goverment asset , which could lead to a charge of treason ." Cabe then read him rights . While Cabe was doing this one of the agents handcuffed Tim .

"Search the place , you know what we are looking for ." Instructed Cabe .

About thirty minutes later the search was complete , they took away a computer , his Homeland phone , plus a burner phone ,that was found in a panel by the computer . Also some suspicious paperwork that needed more scrutiny at Homeland H.Q. Cabe , his team and prisoner left for Homeland H.Q.

By 10. . both prisoners were booked in and all the evidence logged , to be checked over by experts .

Katherine had determined that no interviews would begin until Rusty and his team had arrived back at Homeland with their prisoner . They were expected at around 7.00.p.m. tonight .

Cabe once he had finished his paperwork decided he would go to the cabin to let Walter know what had gone on during the morning and then take him back to the garage .

Before he left he was approached by Katherine .

Cabe while you were out yesterday Walter spoke to me , but his manner and attitude seemed completly alien to him . He then gave me a letter , but told me i could not open it until after 4.00p.m. today . "

"He did something similar to me at the cabin and he also gave me an envelope with the same conditions . The thing is Walter does have a strange way to say things at times ,but somehow it almost seemed as if he was saying goodbye . No doubt he will tell us what is on his mind , when he is ready ."

With that Cabe left to go and pick up Walter . He arrived and Walter let him in , he noticed Walter was ready with a suitcase already packed.

" Can we go know i am in a bit of a bit of a hurry to get to the garage ."

" In a hurry to meet up with the old team are you ?" Replied Cabe

Walter just nodded his head and picked up his case and made his way to the door , quickly followed by Cabe . Within thirty minutes Cabe was pulling up in front of the garage .

"You stay here for a minute and i will open the door for you so you explain everything to the team." With that Cabe exited the vehicle and made his way over to the garage . As soon as Cabe's back was turned Walter pulled his phone out to book an Uber for one hours time . He then exited the vehicle taking his suitcase with him . Placing the case at the side of the door so Cabe would not see it when he opened the door , he then just waited .
