Chapter Six

Kuu watched Kuon as he looked down and they heard his phone buzz. He looked guiltily at his father but Kuu waved it off. He walked out of the room hoping to give his son the privacy which he might need. Kuon was an adult now. He had been capable of taking care of things for a while and although he would always be concerned for his son, he needed to trust him even after recovering from a depressed condition.
"Okay, I understand, thank you," Kuon replied after about five minutes of talking and then groaned as he looked up. Kuu walked back in and was about to ask him what the matter was but Kuon caught him before he could do so. "Things have been pushed back an hour for some delays."
"You want to come with me to the city?" Kuu offered before looking at Kuon closely. "Kyoko told me that you've been doing a bit better in cars these days. Did you want me to give you a ride?" he asked and Kuon sighed. Maybe he could catch up with Kyoko but then again, he didn't want to intrude on her time with Kotonami-san.
"You know, when I feel scared in the car I start talking to myself in Russian," Kuon said and Kuu stared at him as if to ask what the problem with that was.
"Did you forget who taught you Russian and who teased me often for not practicing and saying that I was rude if I made her learn Japanese but I was willing to forget all the Russian that I learned," Kuu said before Kuon laughed softly. "Call her, see if it's okay."
"You think I should?" Kuon asked before humming. "I don't want to draw attention to her so I'd have to get some kind of disguise out. It's terrible when people have a million questions to ask you at all times," he laughed before sighing wishing that he could just have some anonymity at times.
Kuu watched him closely, "They just appreciate your talent and I do too. I'm extremely proud that you're my son," he told Kuon who smiled softly.
"Thanks, dad."

Kane sighed as she looked at Kyoko before getting her things together. "Well, it's been nice seeing you," she told her friend as Kyoko turned to her surprised. "But I think I need to be getting to my next appointment and hopefully we can get together tomorrow or something like that, mo."
Kyoko frowned before nodding and looked at the half-finished ice cream in front of her. She knew that Moko wouldn't be eating a lot but she had wanted to see some of the stores with her friend. She looked down. "I thought you said that it'd be fine to ask him to meet us here. If you had said that it wasn't then he would have understood. He's not like a lot of guys or guys that you might imagine."
"And you think that it wouldn't have caused problems for you when you went home?" Kanae said before looking away. "The man is a pain to deal with and his fame is even worse."
"It's not Kuon's fault that he's talented," Kyoko argued before looking down. "And I don't know what you mean, Moko, by when I got home. If I had told him no then Kuon would have respected me saying no, that's why he asked. If it was…Fuwa then he would have just barged in. He would have just asked me how our girls date went but not out of jealousy but because he knows how happy I am to get to see you."
Kanae looked away, "I don't know. I would prefer never to deal with him."
Kyoko sighed. Kuon had always tried his best to get along with Kanae despite how she called him a liar and a manipulator behind her back. Kyoko hadn't even told her about Corn until after she had become engaged to Kuon but she said that he was a womanizer and a snake anyway. Why was she so opposed to seeing the Kuon that she knew?
"Is it to do with the best couple contest?" Kyoko asked and Kanae crossed her arms over her chest.
"Mo," she exhaled, "I don't care about that. I care that you think something like love is worth more than your career, that you got engaged and then married and had a daughter with him. You should have stayed pure and innocent," Kanae said before hearing whispers and grabbed her bag as she spotted a man with a scarf, jacket, sunglasses, and hat obviously attempting to hide his identity. "Well your precious prince is here," Kanae said as she rolled her eyes.
She was about to leave but Kyoko held onto her wrist and prevented her. They both saw Kuon come up to the table in the back.
"Hello, Kotonami-san," he smiled to her as he took off the scarf but people were still staring in their direction. Kanae had never felt comfortable with him using her first name. "It's really good to see you again." He said as Kyoko let go of her wrist. "I heard about your new role, I think the movie's going to work out well."
"Mo," Kanae said as she looked away from him without a bow or a greeting or anything.
Kuon laughed softly before turning to Kyoko. He kissed her cheek which only made the gossiping and whispers grow around them. "I thought that you said it would be okay if I joined you, princess."
"Do you have to bring such a crowd with you, mo" Kanae said as she looked around annoyed and Kuon shrugged his shoulders. He had tried to hide his identity as much as he could but he often had people staring at him or coming up to him wanting photos or autographs. When he was Tsuruga Ren, sure there would be many people talking about him and he could tune those out. When he had started to go by Hizuri Kuon people had added his talent and recognition in with the fact that he was from a famous family and when he had become a Hollywood A-lister, the crowds just couldn't stop and it was hard to ignore them.
"I wish I didn't either," Kuon said honestly as he saw photographs being taken of them. "Maybe I should put a wig and contacts in next time but I know people played around with editing pictures of me as me and me as Tsuruga Ren so I don't know how I could pull that off and then there are all the pictures of Cain Heel."
"Why don't you sit down next to me, Corn," Kyoko said as she let go of Kanae's wrist and held onto Kuon's hand. "We can all eat together or I can ask them to bring you over a coffee or something."
Kanae shook her head, "I'm just leaving. By the way those pictures of you when you weren't taking care of yourself were an embarrassment," she said and Kuon nodded in agreement. "If you want to suffer like that and act the victim I wish you didn't have to get Kyoko involved."
Kyoko looked at her. "I hope we see each other soon, Moko," she smiled and Kanae nodded before walking off. Kuon looked after her before bowing his head and going to the other side of the table.
"Let me know if you can think of anything I can do so she doesn't hate me so much," he told her and Kyoko sighed.
"I once thought that her love for me and how much I love you would be enough," Kyoko said as Kuon took off the sunglasses but kept the hat on. He looked out the window but regretted it as he saw some of the cameras flash. He turned towards Kyoko and looked at the ice cream.
"You need help finishing that?" he asked and she handed him a clean spoon. He took a small spoonful before hearing the cameras again and sighed. "Sometimes I wish I was back starting out as Tsuruga Ren and nobody paid any attention to me. I know that you're famous too but I feel like a big tree casting a shadow that I don't really want to cast."
Kyoko smiled. "I'm lucky to be with someone so talented and if you're a tree, can I be a flower."
"Of course," he laughed as he took another half spoonful. "You're my personal Queen Rosa."

So Kanae had agreed to go and eat breakfast with her on the following day and Kuon was going to take care of Aurora and maybe risk exposing himself again by taking her to the aquarium where they both loved to go. As much as Kyoko adored seeing how excited Kuon became when it was about any sort of animal, she understood he was trying to do this to give her time with her friend.
As she passed by a convenience store, Kyoko's eyes caught onto an entertainment magazine and she was surprised that there were already pictures of her and Kuon eating ice cream together. She had truly believed that they would not have had a chance to print them up just yet but even with a baseball type cap covering his gorgeous blond hair, he looked truly adorable,
Maybe she just had a thing for blonds. She froze as she thought that. No. She should never compare her husband and fairy prince to Shotaro Fuwa. The two weren't even of the same species.
As she went into the shop, she quickly picked up three copies of the magazine and then saw another two types of magazines featuring Kuon. She blushed as she grabbed three copies each of those as well. One was to go into a box that even Kuon didn't know about. One was for her to read and brag about her husband's fame and cultural significance. The last was to put in the scrapbook of Kuon and that one Kuon knew about.
As she finished paying she saw Kanae with her hand on her hip and a judgmental look in her eyes.
"Really?" she asked with a raised eyebrow.
