CHAPTER 7
No one paid attention to the maid pushing a laundry cart down the hallway late at night. Wasn't that part of her job? Reaching the service elevator, the maid brushed back a strand of hair from her face. A couple, a man and woman, walked by. The woman turned to her male companion and sighed: "That's the color of red I wanted my hair to be."

Joe got out of the chair and stretched; it was time to wake Biff. With a quick tap on the adjoining door, Joe walked into the other room. As he approached the bed, he noticed someone was missing.
"Biff, wake up! Where's Chet?"
"Chet? He should still be sleeping."
"He's not in his bed."
"Maybe he had to go to the bathroom?"
"No, he's not there either; the light's not on."
Biff threw back the covers, almost jumping out of the bed.
"Oh man….Joe, the door leading to the patio…it's open!"
"Don't touch anything, I'm going to wake Frank."
Joe ran out of the room. He shook Frank and whispered his name so as not to wake Carolyn. "Frank, wake up! Chet's missing."
Frank was instantly awake; he got out bed and followed Joe into the other room. Biff pointed to the open patio door.
"I'm sorry Frank, we forgot to lock it."
"Don't blame yourself, Biff. They would have still gotten in; they wanted Chet in a bad way."
Biff, Frank and Joe turned around when they heard a frightened gasp. Carolyn stood at the doorway.
"I was too late."
Going to Carolyn, Frank led her over to a chair. He knelt down beside her as she sat slumped in the chair.
"Carolyn, why did you come? How did you know Chet was in danger?"
"It was just a feeling I had…a feeling and a dream. It wasn't my dream but Mary Twofeathers'."
"Mary Twofeathers? Who is she?"
"A very nice woman. She's also a high ranking tribal member. She's descended from a long line of holy men. Kind of like a medicine man. She has visions…sometimes they come true."
"And she had one about Chet?"
"Yes and about me and you, at least it sounded like you. You and Joe."
"Tell us about the dream," Frank softly whispered.
"She spoke about two spirits, one who blended into the shadows, you could only see him if he wanted you to."
"The Gray Man," Frank and Joe said in unison.
"The other spirit has no soul, it's evil. That spirit is the one who wants to use Chet to get to me."
"As a whole, I think all of the Assassins have no soul," Joe commented.
"Then she saw three warriors. One who rushed in without a thought of the danger, only thinking of saving the people he loved."
"Sounds like you, little brother."
"The second, he is brave as the first but he is more cautious. He thinks before he runs into danger."
"I think she's talking about you, big bro!" Joe winked at Frank.
"Am I the third warrior?" Biff asked.
"The third is a reluctant warrior, he is brave but does not like to fight…but will when his friends need help."
Biff sighed. "That's definitely Chet. Wonder why she didn't see four warriors?"
"Possibly because the Assassins don't care about you."
Turning towards the adjoining door, the four teens saw Arthur Gray standing there.

Chet was trying to wake up but his eyelids felt so heavy. He tried raising his hand and found that he couldn't. Letting out a groan as he struggled to get his body to obey his commands, Chet heard a soft feminine voice.
"Shh, go back to sleep, Chet. No one is going to hurt you."
"S-S-Sam?"
"That's right Chet, it's me, Samantha. Go back to sleep now."
"W-w-what's…going…on?"
"Don't you worry about a thing, Chet. You'll be going home as soon as your girlfriend comes to get you."
"My…my…girlfriend? Don't…don't…have…one."
Samantha chuckled. "How sweet, and here I thought chivalry was dead. Carolyn, Chet. As soon as she comes for you…you'll be free."
"Nooooo!"
Chet began to struggle harder; he felt a sharp pain in his arm. His struggles became weak, and soon there was only darkness.
