CHAPTER 10
Dr. Warner observed Samantha from the control room. She stood in the middle of the room as four Assassins attacked her. He frowned when one of the men was able to get close enough to strike her. Every few minutes, Dr. Warner would glance over at the other man. Raymond White stood 6'2" tall, weighing in at 225 lbs of pure muscle. His blonde hair was cut short; so short he appeared to be bald. His emerald green eyes were as beautiful as the stone itself, with one difference. The emerald stone shone with more life than Raymond White's eyes.
"This isn't a good idea Raymond. She's not ready."
"Then make her ready. I want them dead, Andrew…I want the Hardys and Carolyn Evans dead."
With one last look at Samantha, Raymond White left the control room, the door slamming shut behind him. Dr. Warner flicked the speaker on.
"Do that again Sam…and concentrate harder this time!"

Chet was sitting forlornly on the floor, his body ached and he was hungry. He stared glumly at the bowl beside him. He didn't know what it was, but the baboons seemed to like it. He pushed the bowl between the bars of his cage. "Here, you can have it," he said to one particular baboon that seemed to take an interest in him.
It hesitated for a moment, then snatched the bowl, scurrying away. Chet stood up, looking down at the chain around his ankle. "This is a little overkill, I'm locked up in a cage with a bunch of monkeys! Where am I supposed to go?" he wailed in frustration.
He jumped in fright when something flew across his cage. It fell with a clatter, and he saw it was his bowl. Turning, Chet saw his new friend.
"You wouldn't have a paper clip or a lock pick on you?"
The baboon silently stared at Chet.
"I didn't think so…you know, if Joe or Frank were here, they'd be picking this lock and getting out of here. But then again…I don't think Joe or Frank would let themselves get here."
Tired of pacing, Chet sat back down again. He smiled over at the baboon, which had stayed with him.
"So tell me, how did you end up in this place? Were you here when Carolyn was trapped here? My name's Chet, by the way. What's yours?"
The baboon suddenly tensed then disappeared up one of the trees in the habitat. Chet immediately got to his feet, as he now heard footsteps. He found himself staring at the biggest man he had ever seen.
"They tell me that Carolyn has a crush on you."
Chet didn't bother to reply.
"Chet"…[He smiled at Chet's stunned reaction]…"yes, I know who you are. I want you to help me bring Carolyn here."
"I don't think so!" Chet snarled.
"Now Chet, you really should consider my request….unless you want to become an orphan."
"You leave my parents alone! You so much as breathe on them I'll…I'll hunt you down to the ends of the earth!"
"You know, I think you would, at that," Raymond White chuckled. His eyes hardened into a cold glare: "Do what I ask, Chester, or I'll let Carolyn suffer by watching you die a slow death."

The Gray Man silently watched the video that had been sent to the Hardys. It had been left at the hotel where they had been staying . It was ironic, the Gray Man thought, since the Hardys were probably already heading to the Institute.

"Where do you think they would take Chet?" Biff looked over at his two friends and Carolyn.
"I can take a guess," Frank replied.
"The Research Institute. That's where we'll find him." Carolyn said in a whisper.
"How far is it from here?"
"I'm…I'm not really sure. I was never allowed out, and when Dr. Tyler and I escaped it was late at night."
Frank thought for a moment.
"Gray said that part of the Institute did legitimate research, which means it should be listed in the phone book."
"Well, let's go find a phone book!" Joe took Carolyn's hand and led the way.
