Peters pain only got worse as the ship took off from the ground.
His lungs felt like they were on fire, and his ribs hurt, and ached everytime he took a shallow breath.
Tony talked lightly in the corner with strange and Wanda.
Peter lay on a bed in the jet, connected to more things than he could even bother counting.
His eyes felt like slime was in between them, sticking them together, unable to lift them.
Peter didn't like the darkness. He didn't like the feeling of the room being so tense.
He fought the light, and finally was able to crack his eyes open, even if it was slightly.
His first sight was the black ceiling. He'd seen it a lot before, laying on the floor staring up at it, pretending there was something there.
This time, his mind already has tricked him enough, that he just shuts his imagination out.
He could hear faint sounds from the corner, so he tried to maneuver his head to face that way. But it was hard for him too.
His eyes wandered until they met the sight of three figures clearly arguing about something in the corner.
"You're gonna do what?!" One figure yelled
"It's the only way!" The other person responded
"You're gonna cut him?" The figure spoke softer.
"Tony," that's why the one voice was familiar, it was tony. "Do you want him to die?" The voice asked.
Who? Who's dying? Peter thought, trying to decide that, but giving up after his brain laced and ached at the thought of it.
When his eyes focused, he noticed Tony's expression was distressed, as he stared off at a wall, clearly thinking.
"Do it." Tony said, now staring at Peter.
Peter barely even was lucid enough to notice slight sounds, so when Wanda appeared by his side, he was surprised.
Too weak to do anything else, Peter whimpered softly at the new touch of her holding his hand.
"Shh. Peter it's alright." Wanda comforted him, staring down at him with her gentle expression.
"W'da" Peter faintly spoke.
"It's me pete, it's alright you're okay." She assured him, keeping her gaze until she was interup by tony stepping over joining his bedside.
The warmth of him being there slowly diminished as Peter observed the strained expression that tony had.
So many things were happening right now, and Peter could barely even focus at this point.
His mentor gazed over top of him, expression slightly different with a warmer grin.
"Peter, this is going to hurt buddy okay?" Tony said as he stood over Peter. Peter felt his chest tighten. He was already in pain. He was already in so much pain.
Peter nodded with what was left of his strength, as tony crouched down by his side and held his hand tightly.
"You know kid, I would have just given ya the award for being impulsive, ya didn't need to go and save everyone." Tony joked, as Wanda and Peter laughed slightly. Peter's laugh barely escaping his mouth, before it was replaced by coughing up of blood.
Pe
Strange came over with a scalpel and a tube. Peter looked up, and immediately became confused and worried. He couldn't quite tell what was going on, but by the emotions on tony and Wanda's faces, he could tell that something was coming. He couldn't do anything though. He was almost paralyzed by the pain and the fear.
Peter's suit was taken off, leaving his bare chest. Peter felt cold- not that he wasn't already shivering before, but he was now astronomically freezing, yet parts of his body felt like they were on fire. Strange lined the scalpel up with the skin on top of his lungs and ribs.
He looked to tony, who nodded. Tony didn't want to put his kid in more pain, he didn't ever want Peter to be in pain.
"Peter, you've got this buddy, don't focus on what's happening, okay? Focus on me." Tony assured him, gripping his hand tighter moving to position Peter's arm above his head. Tony gripped his forearm and his shoulder, lightly applying pressure, to keep the kid from moving, not that he really could in his condition, but he just wanted this to be done as fast as possible.
"Mr. Stark I'm scared." Peter murmured, as tony ran his fingers through his hair.
"I know kid, I know, but I've got you okay. It will be all over soon."
Looking into the kid's eyes, there was nothing but fear, panic, and pain.
Spider-Man was never afraid, he was fearless and brave, but Peter Parker was only a boy, a boy who was scared, scared of the pain, and ultimately scared of dying.
Strange looked at tony and Wanda, who were on opposite sides of Peter, holding his hands.
They both nodded.
The scalpel was sharp, and Peter Parker didn't like sharp things, in fact he hated them.
Strange held the scalpel to peters ribs, and began to cut, as blood dribbled in the pathway like chalk streaking on a chalkboard.
Peter felt a stabbing pain in his lungs, along with the feeling of difficulty of breathing and the throbbing of his multiple broken ribs. He could barely contain himself, using all the power in his body to fight against what was happening.
Pain- Peter was no stranger to. He was prone to getting bruises and cuts and even broken bones, but this was on a different level. This was pain that even his brain could barely register.
It felt like he was getting cut into forever, until he felt a touch so familiar to him, one that felt like home. It was tony. Tony had his hand positioned on Peter's forehead, bringing him back it the situation, and back to the unimaginable ache in his lungs and chest.
Tony could barely contain his tears over the kids screams, the screams in which ripped his heart to shreds. The kids agony, reflected onto everyone around him. Tony's heart ached for the kid. He couldn't help him without hurting him. That was the harsh reality. Tony was holding the kid down, and hell, it shouldn't be that easy. The kid had tremendous strength, and it's usually take a lot more horse power to keep him down, but the kid was so weak. And that scared tony, down to his core.
Peter's eyes rolled to the back of his head, and were slowly shutting.
"Pete, Pete look at me." Tony stark said
The scalpel sliced and sliced, as Peter's screams and yelps became sobs.
"Kid, shhhhh, I know Pete. It's alright." Tony assured him.
Peter tried his best to face his head over to tony. His expression was pained and afraid.
"Look, okay, Pete, this is going to be the worst part, it's going to hurt, I'm not going to lie to you." Tony Stark whispered
From the incision on Peter's chest, strange now held a tube. Peter's lungs were collapsing, and he needed to stop that from happening.
Strange held the tube to the incision.
"Ready Pete?" Tony asked
Peter nodded slightly, through all his pain.
Tony looked to strange who nodded, and began to put this tube into Peter's chest.
Peter felt as if he was getting ripped to shreds from the insides out.
Peter's screams became muffled as the tube finally made it into his lung.
"You did good Pete, you did real good buddy." Tony Stark whispered to him.
Relief came to Peter's eyes, as the pain was mostly over for now. He could breathe better, but the blood loss was slowly getting to him.
Peter looked to tony Stark before his eyes slowly drifted shut, and his vision went dark.
They were close to the compound now. And tony still had the unconscious Peter in his arms. Holding his kid, rocking him slightly back and forth.
"Wanda, call cho, let her know of the situation." Tony ordered
He looked back down to Peter, who breathed in a shaky breath of air. It was evident, that the kid was in pain, and tony Stark, couldn't help him.
They landed at the compound and Dr. Cho and the assistants, we're waiting by the base with a gurney.
"Tony, what has happened?" She asked
"He got blown by Thanos, in the war, and it has severely damaged his lungs, and his liver." Tony said, as he laid Peter down on the gurney.
"I see" dr Cho said
"Please, save him, he's only a kid, and he's done everything to help us." Tony begged
"I'll do everything in my power to help him." The doctor assured him.
Tony leant down to Peter's lifeless body. He grabbed the kids hand.
"Stay with me Pete." Tony whispered.
Their moment was interrupted by the rolling away of the cart by the doctors, as he stood there frozen.
"Tony!!!" Pepper yelled as she ran over to him.
"Tony, what's wrong?" She asked as she got closer, embracing tony in her arms.
"The kid, the kid that is almost like one of my own is dying and I can't do anything to help him!" Tony cried
Pepper held him closer. She knew how much Peter meant to him, and she knew that Peter was special and close to Tony's heart. Losing the kid would be like losing apart of him. They had lost so much in the past couple of years, and what had remained constant was his love for Peter, and he couldn't lose
