Steven
It didn't take long for us to reach Camp Half-Blood but is was an enjoyable ride threw the streets of New York. I've never been to a camp before so I didn't know what to expect but it exceeded my expectations by a lot. Nico showed us around a bit before we got to the Dining pavilion.
"Nico, to who do we owe the pleasure?," Chiron said as we approached his table.
"Chiron, this is Steven, Connie, and Calypso," Nico introduced
"It's nice to meet you all," Chiron responded
We all greeted Chiron before sitting down and starting to order foods and drinks.
Connie actively engaged Connie in a conversation about the educational curriculum of Year round students.
"Where's Mr.D," Nico asked looking around a bit.
"He and Apollo had some business to attend to so I'm afraid he won't be joining us this evening,"
"Oh ok," Nico responded tenderly.
The rest of the evening went by quickly as the sunset over the horizon. We joined some of the campers over at the campfire for their sing along, I felt so happy that I played one of my songs for them and they loved it. Finding sleeping arrangements was easy, Nico and I offered beds in the Hermes Cabin while Connie and Calypso got offered beds in the Demeter Cabin. Late into the night, there was one question I had for Nico that was really bothering me and it couldn't wait.
"Nico, you woke?" I whispered
"Yeah," he responded
"Nico, why doesn't your dad have a cabin?" I asked
"He isn't considered one of the twelve Olympians, and it's a sign that children of Hades are not welcome here," he answered
As much as I wanted to disagree, I couldn't because I lacked the experience to do so. You don't like being here do you?" I asked
"No, not really," he answered before silence took over and we both drifted off to sleep
Two weeks passed by quickly and it wasn't long before the last of the summer campers were leaving. Since we were sent here Connie decided we should stay the year round but not live here, so we went out and bought a Penthouse near the camp. It has a nice overview of Long Island and the forest encompassing camp, a pretty decent contrast to living near the ocean but I like it. There are 6 rooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen with marble counters and a terrace with a swimming pool, so we started figuring decoration choices out.
There were new cabin's being built at camp and amongst them was Nico's so he hired some undead builders to build his. I still offered him a room since there was an extra room. I figured he could use the company because I saw what he meant when he said children of hades weren't welcome, the way the other campers had begun to treat Nico after that night made me realize what he meant. He said he might consider the offer before he went to visit his dad.
Calypso and I moved her garden and most of her belongings and garden from Ogygia and brought it to the apartment. We opted to let Calypso to make one of the rooms into her personal garden since the terrace would be occupied as Lion's sleeping space since there's really nowhere for him to go. I took my picture of mom out of Lion's Mane and hung it up in the dining room.
"Who's that?" Calypso asked one day when she caught me staring at it.
"My mom," I responded
"Is she gone?" she asked sincerely
"Yeah," I answered
"Do you miss her," she asked
"I never met her," I answered honestly
"Oh I'm sorry," she apologized
"No, no, no it's fine," I told her before I started to explain how mom had me and the things she left unsolved. "I'll always love her but her life has made my life so much harder than it could've been.
Calypso sympathized by telling me about how her father's actions and how it got her and him locked away.
"I guess we both know what it feels like to have a bad parent." I finished seconds before we got a visitor.
"Hermes, what brings you here?" Calypso inquired
He handed her an envelope. "The contents are confidential. go to Chiron and he'll explain everything, it's nice seeing you again Calypso come visit someday." Hermes said
"I will," she responded fondly
Connie took Lion to camp this morning so Calypso and I had to walk. We already knew the schedule so we found everyone at the Arena. Connie was leading a class teaching them one of the many lessons she'd learned from pearl. She practically joint runs the class with Clarisse since she demonstrated her superior skill during a duel they had. Some people even began to say she was the best in camp for the time being.
"Connie!" I shouted catching her attention. "Come to the big house when you're done," I told her
Calypso and I headed over to the big house and handed the letter to Chiron
"Interesting," Chiron said analyzing the letter. "Do you know what a quest is Calypso?"
"Ummm yeah I have a general idea," she answered
"Well by the looks of it you've been chosen to lead one, you can either accept it solo or you can bring two people with you." Chiron told her
The rest of the cabin leaders had finished trickling all waiting for Calypso decide.
"I'll bring Steven and Connie with me," Calypso answered
"I don't think that's wise, both Steven and Connie are unclaimed" Malcolm from the Athena Cabin spoke up.
When Malcolm said that "A symbol appeared appeared upon the heads of Connie, Calypso, and Steven, one that would've threw Chiron in distress if he hadn't learned to expect the unexpected. Everyone kneeled and Chiron began to announce "All hail, Connie, Steven, and Calypso, Children of Chaos,"
