Upon arriving at Rose Garden, they learned that Shae's mother was actually the mayor. She introduced them to her other kids. They were all glad to be in Rose Garden, but Shae himself didn't seem to be happy when his family lives there.
"That's when I said that his mother looked more like a Vulcan." Mr. Diles made joke with everyone laughing at dinner. Fairy Tail and Sabertooth were going to be in Rose Garden for a while and Sarah and her family allowed them to stay.
"I must say that it's great that you're all here. It's been so long since we actually had visitors." Sarah said. "I'm also glad to see my son is here to join us." She cheered to him, but Shae wasn't interested at all. As they all ate dinner, Nashi looked to the entrance and saw a guard walk by.
"How come there are so many guards around the city?" Nashi asked.
"Rose Garden doesn't have a wizard's guild, but we do want the people to feel safe and secure here." Sarah said. "That brings me to my question. If you all didn't come here on a friendly trip, why did you come down here?"
"We were told Rose Garden holds lots of information about dragons. We actually need that information." Simon said.
"Well, you're certainly free to use the library of whatever you need for your research." Sarah said. With that, all of them were enjoying their dinner.
"This food is great. So, how come Rose Garden has a lot of info on dragons?" Gale asked.
"Before the city was built, this land was actually a breeding ground for dragons." Calleen said. "We found a few dragon remains and studied them."
"That sounds pretty cool. My old man was actually raised by a dragon." Gale said.
"Really? I've heard about that, but I didn't think it was real." Calleen said.
"It's a complicated story, but one thing is for sure about being in Fairy Tail, there never seems to be a dull moment." Gale claimed. Calleen laughed as she seems to be enjoying herself with Gale. Everyone was having a great time, but Shae didn't appear to be. Rona noticed it and she was worried.
"Everything okay, Rona?" Athena asked.
"It's Shae. He hasn't been happy about this since we left for this place." Rona said. "I just wish I knew what was going on with him."
"I know what you mean, but Shae isn't really the type to talk about his problems." Athena said. That just made Rona worried even more.

The Bathroom
After dinner, Storm and Gale hit the bathroom. They were fixing themselves up, but Storm wanted to take the chance to tease Gale a little.
"So... You and Calleen seem to be hitting it off." Storm said.
"You think?" Gale said. "She does seem really nice, but she is Shae's stepsister. You think that would be okay."
"I don't think that's much of a problem with how Shae's been acting." Storm said. He was serious when he said that, but changed to a joking mood. "Of course, you'll probably just mess it up. You're so desperate to get a girlfriend that you usually find a way to mess it up."
"Hey!" Gale said. "Quit giving me a hard time about a having a girlfriend when you haven't done a thing to be with Nashi." That got Storm to be quiet. "How come you don't give Simon a hard time like this? It's obvious he and Sasha like each other, but they're both to prideful like warriors to say anything."
"That's because I want to live." Storm said as he knew what both of them would do if he teased them like that.
"Where is Simon?" Gale said.
"He and some of the others went on ahead to do a little research before it got too late." Storm said. "Well, good luck with Calleen. You're going to need it." He mocked before he stepped out and left Gale annoyed. Gale looked at himself in the mirror and thought about what Storm just said.
"Not this time." Gale said as he wasn't going to let what looks like a good thing slip away again.
...
Nashi and Michael
While the others were doing their own thing, Nashi and Michael had a look around the place. They found themselves in Sarah's office and had a look around. They saw a bunch of photos of her family, adventures, and her accomplishments as mayor.
"As you can see, I've made quite the life for myself." They both looked to see Sarah entering the place.
"I'll say. Looks like you've had a lot of fun while also accomplishing so much." Nashi said.
"Yeah. You're Shae's mom and... Aw! I'm sorry. I just can't get over this nostalgic feeling from seeing you." Michael said. "Shae's the closest thing I have to a brother. I've always wondered about his mother, but I never thought I get to meet you."
"I can understand that." Sarah said as they all had a seat. "I am glad to hear that Shae has made friends that care so much about him."
"I am curious. What happened? Why did you leave?" Michael said.
"I'm rather curious about that myself now." Nashi said.
"Well, I guess I should tell you the whole story." Sarah said. "Rogue was a part of Sabertooth and I was just on the road traveling around. He was on his way back from a job and I just traveling. I did end up in trouble with some wolves. I was running for my life until Rogue showed up and saved me. Quite the way to make a first impression. Not long after, it started to rain and we took cover in a cave. After that, one thing just led to another."
"Oh! I know what means." Michael said with a smug look and waved his eyebrows.
"Eew, Michael. Rogue is like your uncle, isn't he?" Nashi said. When she pointed that out, Michael felt disgusted himself.
"Oh man. You're right. Why would I picture that?" Michael groaned, but Sarah just laughed it off.
"I heard you were a rascal, Michael." Sarah said. "Anyway, Rogue and I hit it off. We dated for a while and got married. A year after we did, we had Shae. Sadly, about two years after he was born, Rogue and I decided to get a divorce."
"But why? What happened?" Michael asked.
"Nothing really happened." Sarah said. "Rogue is a nice guy. It's just that the life in a guild, it wasn't really the life for me. I tried it for a while, but it just didn't fit me. Rogue was the opposite. Sabertooth was his life. I couldn't ask him to give it up, but I couldn't live with an act. He wanted to stay in the guild, but I didn't. That was a major difference in our marriage and it led to our divorce. We just had to go our separate ways."
"What about Shae?" Nashi asked.
"I left Shae with his father." Sarah said. "When Rogue and I ended it, I was on the road again. That wasn't the life for a child. I thought it would have been better to leave Shae there where he was surrounded by so many people and could make many friends. When I felt like I was ready to finally settle down a few years later, I met a wonderful man and his daughter and they became my husband and stepdaughter. We settled down here, had kids, and I worked my way to becoming mayor."
"But how come you never came back to the guild just to see Shae?" Michael said.
"There were times I wanted to, but it just never worked out." Sarah said. "I have sent him letters over the years, but I never heard anything back for him. I did get a few from Rogue and he told me how Shae's grown. I told the kids about him and I hoped Shae could be a part of all this. Calleen loved hearing about Shae and hopes that he would really be her brother." Michael has always wondered about who Shae's mother was. He now finds out she was a fascinating woman, but it's got him concerned about something. After hearing her story, the two of them stepped out.
"What a story." Nashi said. She looked at Michael and could see he was deep in thought. "You okay?"
"Nashi, I think Shae might feel abandon by his mother." Michael said. "She never once came to the guild after that happened. He probably feels like she abandoned him. Still, she, Calleen, and maybe the others want Shae to be a part of this."
"It must be hard. What are you going to do?" Nashi questioned. Michael thought about that and he might have an idea that could help.

The Library
While all of this was going on, some of the others were trying to do research on the dragons in the city's library. They looked through all the books they could and tried studying them.
"Look at all this information." Sasha said as she and Simon looked through a shelf. "How are we going to find the answer to anything?"
"We have to start somewhere. At least we have Athena and Rona helping us here." Simon said. "If we can learn more about dragons, we might be able to figure out how Sapphron and his friends plan to bring the dragons back to this world."
"But look at this place? It's huge. We'll be here for days." Sasha complained and bashed her hands against the shelf in frustration. She clearly doesn't know her own strength. The bookshelf began to shake around. It was about to fall, but Simon moved fast and kept it up.
"Careful." Simon said.
"Uh... Simon..." Simon looked down and saw the two of them were really close, starring into each other's eyes. There was a little moment between them, but it was ruined when they heard giggling and saw it was the Sabertooth girls.
"I know you two might want your privacy, but now's not really a good time." Athena said. Sasha and Simon got embarrassed and turned away from each other. Clearly, there are others having relationship issues.
...
Calleen
As for Calleen, she stepped outside and stared at the moon in the night sky. She's taken in all that has happened now that she's met two of the strongest guilds in Fiore as well as her stepbrother.
"Hey." She turned around and was met with Gale and he was trying to act cool. "Starring at the moon? Cool. I bet you outshine the moon."
"Excuse me? Why are you talking like that?" Calleen said.
"I'm just being myself with a pretty girl like you." Gale said, but it looks like it's not working. Calleen appears to be annoyed and was trying to walk out of there. Gale could see he messed up. "Wait. I'm sorry. I'm just really bad at this."
"Bad at what?" Calleen asked. Gale groaned and had a seat on a step with Calleen sitting next to him.
"I try to get a girlfriend, but it doesn't seem to workout." Gale said. "The others have it easy. Nova's engaged, Sasha and Simon just need to swallow their pride, and Nashi's got two guys that are crazy about her: both being Storm and Drake. I don't have anyone even crushing on me. Sometimes I feel like I'm just falling behind the others."
"So, you want a girlfriend just so you feel even with your friends?" Calleen said.
"Well... No. I just don't know what I'm doing when it comes to this kind of stuff." Gale admitted.
"Well, I think it's sweet that you try to impress a girl, but maybe not try so hard." Calleen said. "If you just relax and act natural, it usually works." Gale figured he could do that, but he didn't expect to happen instantly when Calleen puts her hand on his and the two of them blushing. Looks like Gale might have someone after all.
"kmkmk." They heard someone clearing their throat and saw it was Michael. "I hope I'm not interrupting."
"No. You're not interrupting anything. Is there something he's interrupting because, again, I'm bad at this?" Gale nervously said.
"Well, I need Calleen for something." Michael said.
"What?" Calleen asked.
"I'm going to bring you together with your brother." Michael said.
...
Shae
Shae was staying in a cottage that his mother provided. He was alone with his thoughts. That's not usually a good thing sometimes. He was thinking about his mother and it just made him angrier. He had to snap out of his thoughts when he heard someone knocking on his door.
"Who is it?" Shae asked.
"It's your best buddy." Michael said in a playful tone as he let himself in.
"What do you want?" Shae said.
"I got someone who wants to talk to you." Michael said. He allowed Calleen to go in, but Shae just had his back to her as he sat in a seat. Calleen walked over and was anxious, but she talked to him either way.
"I wanted to say that I always wanted to meet you." Calleen said. "I was about five when your mother married my father. She told me all about you and I felt so proud to have someone like you to call my brother. I know we just met today, but I would love it if you were part of my family. All of us would." She always hoped to meet Shae and call him her brother. This could be it.
"Get out." Shae said.
"What?" Calleen asked.
"Get out!" Shae shouted. The moment she always wanted was ruined. Hearing him shout like that caused her to turn away in sadness with Michael feeling bad for her.
"What is with you?!" Michael said as Shae stood up. "Don't be mad at her! I'm the one who told her she should do it!"
"Drop it, Michael." Shae said.
"What is going on with you? I've never seen you like this before." Michael said. "All she wants is for you to feel like you're part of the family. She is your stepsister and you got three half brothers."
"It's none of your business! Stop trying to fix my family when you can't!" Shae shouted.
"Shae, I always saw you like a brother." Michael said. "I don't like seeing you like this, but I can't help if you won't let me. If you keep this up, I'm afraid you're going to be bitter, lonely man, but it looks like that's what you want. I always wondered why your mother left, but it seems like you're the one breaking this family." Michael left it at that as he slammed the door shut and Shae turned away. Shae feels even further away from the family he doesn't want, but a tear still rolled down his face.
