Everyone was worried about Shae's wellbeing. He tried some acupuncture to help him, but it seems to have made things worse. Not only has it made him sick for a while, but he's looking for his mother now and it doesn't sound like the son wants to have a friendly talk with his mother. As he stood in front of Michael, Gale, Calleen, and Nashi; they could all tell that he wasn't doing so well.
"Shae... You don't look so good. You should be in bed or something." Nashi said.
"Save it. Where's my mother?" Shae said in a demanding tone. "It's time I settle things between her once and for all."
"I don't think that's a good idea." Calleen said as she walked over to him. "You need to get some rest first."
"I'm fine." Shae said as he stayed out of her reach.
"Shae, we're all worried about you! You're clearly not fine!" Calleen said as she refused to let him go.
"Just get out of the way!" Shae said as he pushed Calleen to the ground.
"Hey! That's unnecessary!" Gale shouted. He was ready to jump in there, but Michael grabbed his arm and held him back.
"I'll find her myself." Shae said as he was ready to leave.
"I don't think so." Calleen said as she was getting up. She tried being nice, but it looks like she'll have to be tough now. "I'm not letting you near her if you're going to act like this."
"And how do you plan to stop me?" Shae said. Despite his condition, he didn't believe Calleen could take him in a fight. Calleen surprised him when she slammed her hand on the ground and the ground shot out and smashed against Shae with him getting knocked to the ground. "What the hell?" Calleen got back up and was getting serious now.
"I may not look it, but I can hold my own in a fight." Calleen said. "I figured I had to learn some magic when I heard my stepbrother was in one of the best guilds in the country." Calleen is willing to fight and Shae is as well, despite how weak he feels.
"Shadow Dragon Roar!" Shae unleashed a blast of shadows, but Calleen formed a rock wall to block the attack. Shae kept attacking her with shadows while Calleen moved back and threw a rock at him by using her magic. While those two are fighting, Nashi and the boys just stood back and watch.
"Shouldn't we do something? Shouldn't we try to stop this?" Nashi questioned.
"You don't have any siblings. Fighting brings them closer and is their way of saying they care." Michael said.
"Huh... That might explain why Dad and Uncle Gray fight a lot." Nashi said. All they did was just stand by and let the two of them let it out. Calleen tried striking him with more rocks, but Shae became a shadow and slithered towards her. When he emerged, he kicked her back. When it seemed like that didn't do much, he held his palm against her and blasted her with it. While they were fighting, the commotion caught some attention. The others showed up and could see the fight happening.
"What's going on?!" Storm said.
"Shae's flipped!" Gale said. Everyone was really concerned now. Shae tried attacking her again, but Calleen caused the ground to smash against his side and knocked him down. Her family noticed the fight going on as well with them apparently supporting her.
"Go, Sis!" Stan cheered.
"Who knew Calleen could actually take on a dragon slayer." Dan said. As the fight progressed, Shae was getting more and more furious. However, he's not letting this new family of his mother's get in his way this time. As Calleen stepped closer to him, Shae lunged himself at her. He tackled her and had her smashed against one of France's sculptures.
"Shadow Dragon Waxwing Flash!" Shae attacked her again. She dodged it, but the sculpture ended up flying in the air and crashing down.
"My sculpture!" France called. He actually cared more about his sculpture than his sister possibly getting hurt? When he went to see the damage, he had second thoughts. "Actually... It looks better like that."
"Had enough?" Shae said as he tried catching his breath.
"I'm not the one panting." Calleen said. She caused the ground to rise and shoot Shae through the air like being launched by a catapult. He was sent flying into a pavilion and hit the ground. Shae didn't look like he was physically doing so well and Michael noticed that.
"Something's not right." Michael said.
"Yeah. I'm not so sure we should let this fight go on." Nashi said.
"No. I mean something's not right with Shae." Michael said.
"You think!" Gale said.
"No!" Michael said with annoyance for them not seeing the point. "I'm talking about the way he's fighting. His moves are slow and sluggish." This is just having them concerned even more. Shae tried getting back up and keep fighting, but his vision was starting to get blurry. He could see Calleen was right in front of him, but does he have the strength to keep fighting?
"I was told that you're a powerful wizard, Shae." Calleen taunted. "I thought Sabertooth was one of the best guilds in Fiore. Was it all just some wild exaggeration?"
"That's it." Shae said as he had reached his limit in patience, and possibly his strength. He gathered the shadows around his hand for one big attack. Calleen met his challenge as she used her magic and got a large rock to hold over her head. The two of them went at each other. They were all worried about the collision, but it never happened as Sarah got between them. She was capable of using magic like Calleen as she formed a couple stones and pushed both of them back and stopped the fight.
"What is going on here?! Why are you two fighting each other?!" Sarah said as she sounded disappointed with both of them.
"It was all him." Calleen said. "He was looking for you, but I was afraid of what was going to do with how he was acting." Sarah turned to Shae and was concerned with what he's been doing.
"Shae, what is going on with you?" Sarah said. Shae wanted to say what he wanted to say right there. He probably would have been aggressive about it like Calleen thought, but he didn't get the chance. Shae couldn't hold himself together as his vision was going black. He passed out and was about to hit the ground, but Michael moved fast and caught his friend. Everyone was concerned about him now. Hopefully, the fight actually did get the negative feelings he had out of his system.

The Next Day
After what happened, they all took Shae to get some rest. It looked like he asserted a lot of his strength. All they could for the moment was wait and hope he recovers enough to awake. It's been about a day, but he has not emerged yet.
"Should we knock?" Michael questioned as he and the rest of Sabertooth stood outside the door.
"He's your best friend. You do it." Owen said.
"I'm not going near him when he was in such a foul mood." Michael said. "Rona, what about you?"
"Me? I don't know. Maybe Shae would like some privacy." Rona said.
"Oh, for the love of..." Athena complained. She decided to be the brave one and knocked on the door. "Shae? Are you okay in there? You've been out for almost a whole day." They hoped for a response. They got it when they saw the door open up and Shae was standing there. He gave off a big yawn and walked past them as he put on his coat.
"Morning." Shae said as all of them were surprised by the sudden change of attitude from just the other day. He certainly appeared to be better both in appearance and mood.

The Dining Hall
Feeling hungry, Shae went to the dining hall and asked the chef for some breakfast that could help get his strength back. The chef came over to him and placed a glass of something green and looked similar to a smoothie.
"What is this?" Shae asked.
"I call it Green Smooth Sea. It's rich in vitamins and minerals." The chef said. Shae gave it a try as he brought the glass to his mouth and swallowed some of it down and found it satisfying.
"Pretty good." Shae said. With the chef pleased to hear he liked it, he left Shae to his drink. As Shae tried to enjoy it, he spotted Calleen peeking through the door. She obviously felt bad about the whole thing, but didn't want to bother Shae anymore. Despite all of that, she was still concerned about him. Thinking he wants to be alone, she turned away.
"Calleen, wait!" Shae called. She stopped and turned back to him. "Please, sit. I just want to talk." Calleen entered and took a seat next to Shae. "I'm sorry about the yesterday...and the other night."
"It's okay..." Calleen said.
"No, it's not." Shae said as he felt guilty about the whole thing. "I have a lot of issues with my mother. I took it out on you when I shouldn't have. Things between me and my mother are...complicated. I felt like I missed out on the things a child needs his mother for, but the fact was that my mother wasn't dead. She never came to the guild after she left us. When I heard she had got remarried and had a new family, I felt like... I don't know. I guess I felt like I was some sort of mistake."
"Shae, your mother talked about you every chance she got." Calleen said. "Having four kids to take care of and becoming the mayor of Rose Garden can be timing consuming. I'm sure she would have if she could."
"Yeah... I guess I just let those thoughts eat away at me without anyone knowing that I didn't really think." Shae said.
"No... It's understandable. I actually agree with you." Calleen said. "She should have tried to make more of an effort to go see you. She's your mother as much as ours."
"Still, I shouldn't have acted the way I did towards you." Shae said. "My friends in Sabertooth aren't related by blood, but they're family to me. That's what I've got to be with you and the others." Calleen couldn't believe it. He acted like he hated her earlier, but now he's saying he's willing to become family to her. Calleen was so happy that she couldn't hold back on hugging her new brother, and Shae hugged his new sister back. However, Calleen still felt bad for Shae and knew she had to do something to help him through his hardest time. That's why she went to see Sarah.
...
Shae
Shae stepped outside and got some fresh air. He was starting to see Rose Garden wasn't really a bad place. He soon heard someone behind him and saw that it was Sarah. Sarah walked over to Shae and held him in her arms with Shae feeling her misery. He could already tell what this was about.
"She told you, didn't she?" Shae said.
"Yeah... Shae, I'm so sorry." Sarah said. "I'm a terrible mother if I made you feel like you were a mistake."
"No, Mom. I know you never intended for that." Shae said.
"I have no excuse for what I've done." Sarah said. "I should have made more of an effort. I should have tried to go back just to see you. You were growing up and I missed out on all of it. Your father sent me letters, but it's not the same as actually being there."
"But you did make the right decision by leaving me at Sabertooth with Dad." Shae said. "It helped me make so many friends, some I consider family." He pushed her back to haver her look in his eyes. "Is there any chance we can start again?"
"That was actually my question." Sarah said as she loved she was getting another chance with her eldest son. Not many are able to have that chance. "This would be perfect. You could move in, get to know your siblings, and maybe you can tell them all your stories themselves."
"Whoa, Mom. Slowdown." Shae said. "I'm still needed in Sabertooth, and my friends in Fairy Tail are going to need my help. How about we just try and make more of an effort to see each other and see where things go from there?"
"Fine with me." Sarah said and the two embraced again. After years of being apart, a mother and son are starting to be together again. For a certain masked blonde that has watched over Shae, she couldn't stop the water in her eyes from seeing such a sight.

Outside
Meanwhile, just on the outside of the city, trouble was still on it's way. Kuroi and Lumiere stood at the top of a mountain and looked down at Rose Garden.
"Is that place Rose Garden?" Lumiere questioned.
"It is. The one we're looking for is down there." Kuroi said. Just as one problem was fixed, another one is on its way.
