In a battle against shadows and darkness, Shae struggled to defeat Kuroi. Calleen accidentally got caught up in the fight and Shae knew he had to protect her. Just as it seemed like it was going to be game over for him, Rona showed up and was able to save them.

"Rona! Thanks for the save!" Calleen said.

"Curious. How were you able to break my Lightless World?" Kuroi asked.

"It was easy when you have seen a couple spells that nullify magic and create your own spells with it using Memory-Maker Magic." Rona said.

"Memory-Maker Magic? I thought that magic was lost." Kuroi said. "Well, if you wish to join your friends in their downfall, so be it. Dark Dragon Soulless Slash!" Kuroi unleashed a slash of darkness at them, but Rona pushed Calleen and Shae down to have the attack miss.

"Rona, get out of here. Let me handle this." Shae said.

"No worries. I got a few ideas." Rona said with Kuroi ready for an attack. "Cover your eyes. Memory-Make: Holy Shimmering Flash!" Rona generated a powerful flash of light instead of using an attack. The light was so bright that it burned the eyes. Kuroi had to close his eyes and look away as his eyes burned from that light, but the intense flash of light made it difficult for him to see. "That should buy us some time for a while to come up with a plan. Let's go." Rona was providing cover for the three of them to pull out for a moment.

"You won't be able to hide!" Kuroi called. While he was trying to get his sight back, the three of them were getting further away from him.

"Are we really running away?" Calleen asked.

"No. We're just pulling back until we have some sort of plan to defeat him." Rona said. "Although, temporarily being blinded might not buy us much time. Dragons slayers have heightened senses that he could still track us with."

"Yeah. That's got to be how he was able to maintain the advantage in that last attack of his." Shae said. "We need to try and lay low until we have a way to defeat him." Calleen understood now. They're not running away. They just need some time. Hopefully, they'll have enough.

"Damn." Kuroi complained as he was having trouble seeing. "Memory-Maker Magic... That magic could be a little tricky. I can't waste too much time like this. They got Lumiere. There's a chance they could get me too. I've got to finish things now." Kuroi was going to give up either, but how do you defeat one that has the powers of complete darkness?

...

Shae

Shae and the girls found a place they could lay low. They have some time, but it might not be long until Kuroi finds them and finishes this fight.

"Are you okay, Shae?" Rona asked.

"I think so, but I won't be if we can't find some way to defeat him." Shae said. "He holds similar abilities to mine, but he's far more effective with them. He's got me beat at every turn. How am I going to defeat him when he appears to be stronger than me at everything?"

"There's got to be something you can do that he can't." Calleen said. Shae would like think so, but it doesn't look like it. He also doesn't like that Calleen is getting caught in this in the first place.

"Listen, Calleen... There's really no reason for you to get caught in this." Shae said. "This isn't your fight. You can still escape while you can."

"No way." Calleen said. "I'm not abandoning a member of my family. I just got my brother in my life. I'm not going to lose him already." Shae could see it in her eyes. She might not be related by blood, or not a member, but she's got the same commitment as any member of Sabertooth.

"Okay. So what do we do?" Shae questioned.

"Actually... I think I have an idea or so. Maybe there is a way to defeat him." Rona said. "I've seen dragon slayers and learned a lot about them by standing near Michael and Shae. Shae, have you actually tried eating his darkness?"

"Eating it?" Shae questioned. "Actually, no."

"Wait. Eating?" Calleen questioned as she didn't quite get it.

"Dragon slayers are capable of devouring their respective elements." Rona explained. "Shae might not be able to devour his own shadows, but he can devour other kinds of shadows. If this enemy can really use techniques similar to Shae's, Shae should be able to devour them."

"But even if I do, it might not enough to defeat him." Shae said. "Truth is that I've never really devoured darkness like this before. There's no telling what will happen to me."

"I'm confident that you can handle it, Shae." Rona said.

"Even if Shae does that, how will it defeat this guy?" Calleen questioned. "He's too strong and too fast. If he uses that last spell on us again, we're in real trouble."

"You can leave that part to me." Rona said with full confidence that she might be able to stop him. "I have an idea that just might work." She told them her plan. They thought it was a little crazy, but it does make sense.

"Do you really think you can do that, Rona?" Calleen questioned.

"Trust me. I'm sure this will work. My magic is filled with many possibilities." Rona said. "I'll be able to hold him down, but Shae will have to be the one to deal the final blow."

"Shae, are you sure about this?" Calleen asked as she was worried on what might happen if this fails.

"I am." Shae said with no doubt. "Rona has a photographic memory. She uses that to become a great strategist. I trust her when she says it will work." It meant a lot to Rona that Shae has such faith in her. "Thanks for coming, Rona. I don't think I would be able to pull this off without you." That meant even more to Rona.

"Anything for you, Shae." Rona said as she placed her hand on his. "You know can always count on me." They stared into each other's eyes and were feeling a strong connection. Poor Calleen felt like a third wheel, but she just let them have their moment. "I'll draw his attention. Just give me a few minutes." She got back up and hurried off as she was willing to face Kuroi on her own, even if it's just for a few minutes.

"You got a special girl there." Calleen said.

"Rona? She's always been a great friend and a powerful wizard." Shae said.

"That's not what I mean." Calleen said. "I think it's pretty obvious that she has strong feelings for you."

"What?! You think?" Shae said.

"I know so." Calleen said. With her poitning it out, Shae was beginning to think things differently, but there was no time for that.

"I'll deal with that later. Right now, your brother has got a fight to win." Shae said as he was ready to get back in the fight.

...

Kuroi

Kuroi was still trying to get his sight back. The effects of Rona's spell started to clear away and he could see again. When he could, he could see Rona standing before him.

"That was a cunning little trick you pulled, but that won't work a second time. You should have stayed hidden." Kuroi said.

"Get over yourself. We're not afraid of you." Rona said. "How about a taste of your own medicine. Memory-Make: Dark Dragon Soulless Slash!" Rona used her magic and made a copy of Kuroi's own spell. He avoided the attack by turning himself into a shadow.

"Copying my powers? How fruitless." Kuroi claimed, but he did exactly what she wanted.

"Forget." Rona said. Kuroi doesn't know what happened, but he somehow emerged out of the ground. "Now, Shae! Get ready!" She called with Shae appearing.

"What are you up to?" Kuroi questioned.

"My magic allows me to use my memories and create new spells, but my style is that I can make a copy of a spell from my memories." Rona said. "That includes yours! Lightless World!" Rona used another copy of his spell and had the whole place surrounded by darkness.

"What is this? You don't honestly expect to defeat me with my own spell, do you?" Kuroi questioned as he didn't get what they were planning. He started to hear a suction sound. The darkness began to fade away and he was starting to see why. Shae was devouring all of the darkness. "Is he really inhaling it? Why?" Shae was able to devour the entire spell and it was awaking something inside him.

"It's more powerful than I thought, but I can feel it." Shae said as a black aura and shadows was forming around him. "I can really feel power!" Shae unleashed forces of power in the air as dark markings formed around his body.

"I didn't expect that!" Rona said.

"It can't be... Is that his Dragon Force?!" Kuroi said. Shae inhaling that darkness has awakened his Dragon Force. It's made his shadows stronger than ever before. In fact, they're not shadows anymore. They've become darkness itself.

"Now, Rona! Get ready!" Shae said.

"Memory-Make: Vibrating Land!" Rona used her magic with a circle of light forming around Kuroi. When that happened, the area inside began to shake like it was an earthquake. "No matter how powerful a dragon slayer is, they have the same weakness: motion sickness."

"What?!" Kuroi said as he suddenly felt sick to his stomach. The more powerful a dragon slayer, the more severe the motion sickness is. The vibrations caused from the spell were churning his stomach like butter. He didn't have the strength to get out of there. 'That's why she cancelled out my spell! It was so I can't slip away.' With Kuroi paralyzed from his own sickness, it left him open for an attack. "You little wench! This weakness is humiliating, but how could you have known this would work?!"

"You really don't know who you're dealing with, do you? My strength is from memories and I have a photographic memory" Rona said. "I've spent so much time with Michael and Shae. By being around them, I learned a lot about dragon slayers. That includes your weaknesses. Basically, anything that moves and isn't alive causes your kind to be greatly sick. Motion sickness develops once a dragon slayer reaches a certain level of strength. Since you have been around for all these years, you surely had to have it. No matter how powerful you are, you're not without weaknesses. I also know that as long as you're like that, you're practically helpless."

"Damn you!" Kuroi called through his sickness.

"Shae, now's your chance!" Rona called. This is where Shae unleashes the darkest of his shadows: darkness itself.

"You say I don't have the power of darkness. Let me show you how wrong he is." Shae said as he held out his arm. He was able to tap into true darkness and use its power. "I believe this is how it goes. Soulless Slash!" Shae used his own version of the attack and it was more powerful with his Dragon Force. The attack flew through the air and slashed right against Kuroi and dealt massive damage to him. His weakness also prevented him from stopping the attack. In fact, the attack slashed right through Kuroi. Kuroi was gravely wounded and this marks the second dragon slayer defeated after four-hundred years.
