Upon arriving near the enemy's territory, Nashi and her friends separated. Raio, Sasha, and Nova crossed paths with Keenan. Keenan uses the same type of magic that Nova uses, but he appears to be more efficient with it. Sasha was easily taken out of the fight, but Raio and Nova still wish to fight him.
"Are you two just going to stand there or are we going to fight?" Keenan taunted.
"I'll divert his attention. You attack when you see an opening." Nova said. Raio agreed with it, but he was concerned about Sasha. He looked back and saw she was still down for she got hit by a force as powerful as actual lightning twice.
"What about Sasha?" Raio questioned.
"She'll be fine. She's one of the toughest girls I know. Let's just give her a minute and keep our focus on him." Nova said.
"Got it. Take the lead." Raio said. Nova started the fight as she charged right at him. She jumped at Keenan and tried to strike him, but he easily caught her attack.
"You'll have to do much better than that." Keenan said. He grabbed her arm and spun around until he tossed her, but she easily jumped off a piece of the ruins and tried attacking him again. However, he moved out of the way of her attack.
"Raging Bolt!" Nova unleashed a blast of lightning, but Keenan just stood there and absorbed all that power.
"You're going to beat me by feeding me? The more power you use on me, the more I absorb." Keenan claimed. He thought that wouldn't do anything, but he looked up and spotted Raio in the air.
"Cyclone Rampage!" Raio used his storm magic again and blasted Keenan with it. Keenan was able to endure the attack as he absorbed the last of Nova's power.
"Okay. Try this on for side!" Keenan said as he formed lightning in the his hand and gripped it like a weapon with it forming an arrow-like shape.
"I think I see where this is going." Raio said as he formed lightning in his own hand. "Lightning Spear!"
"Thunderous Arrow!" Keenan and Raio used similar attacks as they tossed their attacks at each other. Raio was hoping for a cancellation of attacks, but Keenan's attack just broke through Raio's very easily. Raio tried avoiding it, but it did graze him on the side. Keenan was going to attack him, but Nova tried attacking him first. She tried giving him and uppercut, but she barely hit him as he leaned back. When he did, he gave Nova a good kick back. After he kicked her, he turned into lightning and appeared right over Raio. Just as Raio turned to him, Keenan struck him right against the head and crashed him against the ground.
"Raio!" Nova called. Raio got hit hard, but he was able to pull himself together. He refused to let Nova take this enemy on his own.
"Come on. I'm barely breaking a sweat here." Keenan said when he landed down.
"Damn this guy." Raio complained as Nova hurried to him and got him back up.
"Are you going to be okay?" Nova asked.
"Yeah, but this guy has one mean hook." Raio said. "At least our attack worked on him for a second. Let's try that again and I'll try to hit him with a stronger attack."
"I'm not so sure that's a good idea." Nova disagreed. "My attacks are basically making him stronger. Besides, there's no way he'll fall for the same trick twice."
"Maybe, but you should be able to absorb his attacks as well." Raio said. "If you're able to create an opening for me again, while also absorbing his own lightning power, I know I'll be able to take him."
"It seems pretty risky." Nova said as she was concerned on what might happen to Raio if this doesn't work.
"I'm getting bored here." Keenan called. He's not getting serious yet, but that could be their opportunity to take him down while he isn't.
"Okay, Raio. I'll trust you. Just promise me you'll be careful." Nova said.
"No worries. There's no enemy we can't beat." Raio said as he was still confident. "Follow my lead." Raio was the one to attack this time. He flew straight at Keenan, but Keenan avoided him.
"You'll have to move faster than that." Keenan taunted.
"Let's see just how fast I can go!" Raio said. He chased after Keenan as he manipulated the wind to help him move around faster. He kept trying to reach Keenan, but Keenan was moving much faster and was able to stay out of Raio's reach.
"Still too slow!" Keenan said as he unleashed an electrical blast and knocked Raio back. Keenan unleashed another electrical blast, but Nova stepped in the way and she was absorbing the attack this time.
"Not bad. It feels rather nice. Have some of it back! Lightning Dragon Roar!" Nova unleashed her attack, but Keenan just absorbed the attack like she did.
"You guys don't seem to learn." Keenan said.
"We actually do!" Raio said as he flew over Keenan and gathered as much storm power as he could around his fist. He went straight at Keenan and attacked with all that power. It caused an explosion to go off and Nova had hoped it really worked.
"Raio!" Nova called in hopes that he is still okay. She had hoped Raio's plan really worked, but she got the opposite. She saw Raio blasted out of the dust cloud and was electrocuted. Raio got hurt real badly as he bounced against the ground and it didn't look like he was able to get back up.
"Is that really all you can do?" Keenan taunted. "It was a good effort, but it was doomed to fail." He walked over to Raio and was ready to finish him. "Enough playing around. It's time for somebody to croak."
"My vote is for you." Keenan was surprised to see Sasha was able to get back up. She tried firing a bazooka at him, but he was able to avoid that attack as well.
"I'm getting really annoyed here." Keenan said. "Don't you people ever just stay down and die?"
"Not as long as we're still able to fight." Nova claimed. Raio was down, but the girls could still fight. The two of them continued to fight Keenan off, but Raio wasn't beaten himself yet. He struggled to get back up after that powerful blast, but he was still trying to think of some way to beat him.
'Come on, Raio. Get up and be a man.' Raio told himself as he tried motivating himself to stand. 'There has to be some way to beat him. I must be on the right track to something.' As he was trying to look for the answer on defeating Keenan, he thought of how this fight has unfold. His last attack might have worked, but he realized something about Keenan. 'Why didn't he dodge my last attack? Come to think of it, he didn't exactly dodge my last few attacks. Whenever he was absorbing Nova's power, he just let the attacks come at him and risked getting hit rather than just stop absorbing that power. Why didn't he dodge it?' He was trying to make sense of Keenan's movements. He didn't see it until he realized something. An idea popped into his head that might be a little crazy, but it is possible. 'Could it be?! Is he... That could be it!'
"I've got you now!" Sasha said as she tried to attack Keenan with a sword, but Keenan was able to catch her arms.
"Sasha!" Nova called in hopes of saving her, but Keenan tossed Sasha against Nova. However, Sasha pulled out her Twin Busters and tried blasting him with them, but he jumped up on a piece of the ruins and avoided the attack.
"This is taking longer than I thought." Keenan said as he was tired of this fight. Before he could do anything more, rain started to pour down on him. "YIE! That's freezing cold!" Rain poured down on him and it was freezing. It felt like the coldest shower ever. He turned to see Raio was the one doing this. "Freezing cold rain? Is that really all you can do now?"
"I've got you...right where...I want you." Raio said as he was still doing his best to fight.
"Well, you're out of luck!" Keenan said as he tried to move, but he couldn't move from his spot. He looked down and saw the spot he was standing on was covered in ice with his feet frozen to it. "My feet are frozen to the ground?!"
"Ice can't conduct electricity. No slipping away this time." Raio said. "I think it's time you got a taste of your own medicine. Girls, better stay clear!" Raio focused all the power he could and unleashed multiple blasts of lightning right at Keenan. Keenan welcomed the attacked as he began absorbing all the power.
"Nice try, but all you're doing is making myself stronger!" Keenan said.
"Exactly. I just realized something." Raio said with Keenan getting a bad feeling. "Every time you absorbed power, you stayed right where you were. You never moved or anything. That's when I soon realized something. You must not be able to release energy AND absorb it at the same time." Keenan was quite shocked that Raio figured it out. "That means if I can just keep you from moving, you have no choice but to keep absorbing."
"So what?! All you're doing is making me stronger!" Keenan said.
"All that power building with no way to escape? What do you think will happen?" Raio said. If too much power builds in one place with no way to escape, there's only result. Keenan couldn't believe this. Raio is actually turning Keenan's strength against him.
"You can try, but you'll fail! You'll run out of magic power" Keenan claimed.
"Is that so? I think I can." Raio claimed.
"This guy... Who is he?!" Keenan said as he couldn't believe this happened. No one has ever done this to him before.
"All I got to do is hold on until you go boom! No way you can get out of this one!" Raio said.
"Damn you!" Keenan shouted. He tried to get out of this, but his feet were frozen and he couldn't release power while he's still absorbing. He had no way out of this.
"I might not be a dragon slayer, but I've got to be strong. I've got to be willing to take chances and risks." Raio said. "Not just for Nova, but for all of Fairy Tail. After all, if it weren't for Fairy Tail, I wouldn't be where I am now! I also certainly wouldn't have all the friends that I love!"
"Raio!" Nova called.
"You can do it!" Sasha cheered.
"Damn you!" Keenan shouted as Raio poured up the last of his power. So much power build around Keenan that he couldn't hold it anymore. It caused a large explosion to go off. It might not have destroyed him, but Keenan was blown away from the explosion and took a lot of damage from it. What's more is that Raio used up the last of his power to pull that off.
"Did Raio do it?" Nova questioned.
"I don't think so." Sasha said.
"Damn..." Keenan groaned as he tried to get back up. "I can't believe that bastard did this to me..." Keenan was greatly injured, but Raio used up all the strength he had left as he dropped to his knees.
"Raio!" Sasha called as she ran to him.
"Nova... I know...you can handle the rest..." Raio said before he blacked out.
"Right. Don't worry." Nova said as she got serious and faced Keenan. "I'll end this."
"You retched little pests." Keenan said as he was furious now. The two of them stared each other down. It looked like it was going to be a real battle between lightning users now.
"Don't worry. I'll put an end to this." Nova said.
"You think so? You're in way over your head." Keenan said as he still had the strength to fight. He unleashed a series of lightning attacks, but Nova took them all and went right at him. "My power has been building for centuries!" He claimed as he unleashed all that power, but Nova was able to handle all of it. "I've endured much suffering and hardships! How could you possibly hope to best my power?!"
"You might end up being surprised!" Nova said as she got close enough to him and landed a strong strike of her own with him being pushed back. "My friends and I have faced own share of powerful opponents. It doesn't matter to us how strong you are or how long you've been around! There is no enemy we can't beat!" She attacked him again, but Keenan blocked that attack.
"Enough of this nonsense! You truly don't know what you're up against!" Keenan said as he was starting to get serious. "I'll show you just how terrifying we dragon slayers can be!" Keenan unleashed a burst of his own power that makes it seem like Raio's plan ended up being for nothing. Nova was blown back from the power with her and Sasha surprised at what they just saw. Keenan has now entered his dragon form. Nova's never gone against an actual dragon before, but it looks like she'll have to earn her actual dragon slayer name.
