Chapter 5: First Date and First Times!
Waking up once again in Ashley's arms felt great and I even held Pikachu in mine and felt warm all over. It's only been a week since I've been in this new body but I love my new life. Got a pokemon team started. Got my first shiny pokemon. Even my first gym badge!

Since we got our first gym badge early we are on a great time schedule so there was no rush as we got ready this morning. Oreburgh is close to Jubilife and only took the extra day last time because we stopped for some training. Apparently the league conference is only 7 months away. So we had 6 months and 3 weeks to get 7 more badges. Then each conference was slotted two weeks in a 4 month time. Then the last month was rest time for all the leagues and time for trainers to decide what to do next.
Then every ten years there is the championship tournament where all gym leaders, e4 and champions fought against all league winners in that time period to see who is the strongest. This was mine and Ashley's end goal to appear on the big stage for that tournament.
The next one is in 5 years and is hosted in the Galar region. But first we had to make it to the sinnoh conference. Baby steps are required.
Ashley said our goal was to get all 8 badges with at least 2-4 weeks to train before the opening ceremony. It sounded like a good plan to me and it would take a week or two to make it to Eterna city with the route going if there are zero distractions.
If we get our first two gym badges early it will free up more time for traveling and put us on a good schedule for any random tournaments or events we may run into.
As we walked back to Jubilife we had Rose and Pikachu hanging out with us as we made the 6 hour trip back to Jubilife city. It was pretty easy going me and Ashley mostly held hands and stole a quick kiss or two as we talked.

"So we thought of a few ideas and I want to add on to the last one. So first we get you a nightly stay in with Nurse Joy to let you charge up your electric sacs all night. Second would be a pokemon daycare at night but not everywhere has those for us to use all the time." "So I want to know why you hate being in a pokeball because even if we find a different solution this could save your life in the future." Pikachu sighed and went off what seemed to be a tangent. He talked for about 5-10 minutes before finally stopping.
Ashley could see the look of confusion of my fave watching all of this go down. "Oh I forgot to tell you. Me and Pikachu were in some accident we don't remember and ever since then I can partially understand him. There are some words I still don't get though."
Okay so the only thing they wouldn't remember is the first pokemon movie with MewTwo but who knows what changed in this timeline compared to the anime.
"Okay but only Pikachu right?" I was curious how this random gift works. Or maybe she unlocked her Aura unknowingly and Pikachu is her Aura partner.
"I can feel how other pokemon are feeling but that's about it. Anyways to sum up what Pikachu said before we got sidetracked is that he was caught and held in a pokeball for way longer than the league restricted time is and once he escaped he swore to never be in such an uncomfortable device again."
Oh yeah being in a pokeball for longer than three months at a time is super unhealthy for a pokemon. They could get stuck in that stasis forever and never wake up. It's called the poke coma condition. That's why there are places for trainers to keep their pokemon where they make sure to let out their team a certain amount of time a day.
Professor Rowan hooked me up with Professor Oak who pretty much lets them run free at the ranch unless a punishment is needed like pokeball timeout.
Thinking about what Pikachu said he just hated how uncomfortable it was, but we could fix that with a luxury ball and promise to only recall him at night or when in danger. I brought up my idea to them. Ashley seemed intrigued by the pokeball and Pikachu who seemed weary of the plan.
"So how about this? We get a luxury ball tomorrow and swap Pikachu in it. We recall him for a minute and if he hates it we ditch the plan and let him stay with Nurse Joy to get a charge." Ashley seemed on plan but I hope Pikachu is receptive to the idea as well. The rest of the plans were very situational.
"Now this is only if you're okay with trying Pikachu. I won't force you to do it and neither will Ashley. We care about you a lot." Pikachu seemed anxious but agreed in poke speak that Ashley confirmed.
I smiled softly and cradled Pikachu to my chest. "You can sleep in my arms again tonight to make sure you're relaxed for tomorrow." Once I laid down on my side I brought Pikachu close to my chest as he cuddled into me.

"I had it set for 7:30 and it's only a 10 minute walk away." Ashley said as she sat down next to me and we relaxed with Pikachu for a bit before putting him in the luxury ball and leaving for our reservation.
