Nashi was willing to pay the ultimate sacrifice if it meant her friends could be given the power to defeat Sapphron. She had that much trust and faith in them, but she didn't end up dead. When she finally woke up, she was faced with the worst enemy she ever faced: Ankhselam.

"You!" Nashi said as she was completely shocked. She never thought she would see him again. "Hold on. If you're here... I must be..."

"That's right, Nashi. You're in the space that's between life and death." Ankhselam said. This space Nashi is in is a limbo that is somewhere between life and death. When Nashi fought Ankhselam a couple years ago, they ended up in this space. Nashi was able to leave, but Ankhselam decided to stay behind. Nashi looked ready for a fight, but Ankhselam held up his hand to stop her. "Calm yourself, Nashi. I have no reason to fight you. I'm just surprised to see you here."

"Well, coming back here wasn't by choice." Nashi said. "I don't understand how I ended up here in the first place."

"It does take special conditions for you to end up in a place like this." Ankhselam said as he started walking and walked past her. "Let's go somewhere a little more comfortable for us to talk."

"Where? There's nothing here." Nashi said.

"That's not completely true. Just come with me." Ankhselam said. "You can also explain what is going on along the way." Nashi wasn't sure if she could completely trust Ankhselam, but she really has nothing else to lose if she can't get back. Following Ankhselam, the two of them roamed around in the fog. Nashi believed there was really nothing out there, but she soon saw a cabin in a small field ahead of them.

"What the hell?" Nashi questioned. She looked around and that's all there was. It was like it was surrounded by a fog bank, but the cabin looked so real. "What is this place?"

"My home." Ankhselam said.

"Home? How can they're even be a house here?" Nashi said.

"During my time here, I learned that you can create things here if you're able to control the energy that lives here." Ankhselam said. "It's rather easy with my power. I can create objects, but I'm not able to create anything alive. If I tried, it would only be an image. Something alive would be better than just an image." Nashi was astonished that someone like Ankhselam would say something like that considering how he use to be.

"So, you're all alone here." Nashi said.

"Not exactly." Ankhselam said.

"There you are." Nashi was surprised to see a woman wearing a robe walked out of there. "Oh! We actually have a visitor!"

"It would seem so, Serena." Ankhselam said. Serena was a loyal fighter, as well as the strongest follower, towards Ankhselam. When Fairy Tail fought the Duat Kingdom a couple years ago, Serena was the strongest of the elite known as The Ten Gates of the Underworld. When the war ended, Serena found a way to be with Ankhselam.

"I know you." Nashi said. "Drake told me about you. After the war, you disappeared. Ankhselam killed you, but you should have been brought back when he actually revived the dead. What are you doing here?"

"We'll get to that, but why don't you tell us about you first." Ankhselam said. Seeing as how there's nothing else she can do, Nashi took the time to explain to Ankhselam and Serena as to what is going on. "Dragon slayers that have been alive for hundreds of years? Just like Acnologia?"

"And you say that they're tampering with the forces of life and death just like Ankhselam did." Serena verified.

"Yeah... They want to bring back some of the dragons that were lost, but this spell could kill every human in Fiore." Nashi said.

"That would explain it." Ankhselam said.

"Explain what?" Nashi questioned. Ankhselam held out his hand. Nashi felt a breeze where it seemed like the place was moving. It kept going until they reached a light, the same light from Sapphron's spell.

"That's it! That's the same light and spell!" Nashi said. "It can be seen even from here?"

"This spell is breaking through the boarders of life and death." Ankhselam said. "We're in the space between those two forces. It would make sense that it could be seen here."

"There's got to be something that can be done." Nashi said with Ankhselam finding that interesting given the circumstances.

"You still intend to stop it?" Ankhselam said. "From what you've told me, this Sapphron used a spell on you that was intended to kill you. You allowed it to happen. Why was that?"

"Well... I knew it would upset my friends." Nashi said. "Seeing me fall would give them a boost of power to get out of a trap they were in, maybe even to face Sapphron. I know that sounds crazy, but I just had this feeling."

"A feeling?" Ankhselam questioned.

"A feeling that everything was going to be just fine. I can't really explain it, but it was like there was nothing to fear." Nashi said. "While I was fighting Sapphron, I could hear this voice in my head." She membered it well. While she was struggling against Sapphron, a voice came to her.

"The answer to all is in life and in death."

"After I heard that, this feeling came over me that everything was going to be just fine." Nashi said. "I can't really explain it. Maybe that was stupid of me or something, but I guess someone or something knew I would end up here." Nashi couldn't believe what she was saying, but it's really the only thing she could think of. "Maybe something is telling me that I need your help."

"My help?!" Ankhselam said as he too was surprised that Nashi was even considering that.

"I know it's crazy, but there must be a reason I'm here. The answer is in life and in death, and I'm in a place that's between the two." Nashi said. This was all rather strange, but Ankhselam actually considered it.

"Give me a moment. I need to think about this spell and what you can do." Ankhselam said as he stepped inside his cavern and took the time to think.

"Wow. I can't believe he would even consider helping me. He seems different from how he was before." Nashi said.

"Being here for the past couple years, or however long it's been, can really have you rethink everything you knew." Serena said.

"What about you?" Nashi asked. "How did you end up here?"

"I simply followed him." Serena said. "I used my powers to take me to where he is simply because I love him."

"You love him?! Didn't he killed you?!" Nashi said with complete shock.

"The heart wants what the heart wants." Serena said as she acted like it wasn't a problem. "After the last battle with you and the rest of your guild, Ankhselam and I decided to spend the rest of eternity here. It got rather boring, but I would have followed that many anywhere. In time, he found a way to make things easier for us around here."

Flashback

Unable to keep track of time, Ankhselam and Serena just wondered this realm of nothingness. All they really had were their thoughts. Soon, Ankhselam found a way to tap into the power that flows through this world. Seeing as how he's controlled life and death, and power tied to that flows through this place, it was easy for Ankhselam. That's how he was able to create the cabin that Serena and he stays in.

"A cabin out on a field?" Serena questioned. "That's not your usual style."

"It will be enough for now." Ankhselam said as he went on inside. Serena could see that his last fight with Fairy Tail had a strong effect on him. He wasn't the tyrannical or cynical man that he was before.

...

Later

Time passed and the two of them decided to settle in this place as their new home. Serena could see that something was different about him, but that wasn't the only thing that bothered her. He kept his distance from her. Since they're the only two people in this entire world, ignoring each other probably wasn't a good thing. Serena tried her best to respect his boundaries, but the solidarity was getting to her. He just stood there and stared out the window with Serena getting annoyed.

"There's nothing out there." Serena said. "You created the only thing that is here."

"I'm aware of that. I'm just doing some thinking." Ankhselam said.

"Lord Ankhselam, don't you see it? You could create your ideal world here." Serena said.

"What would be the point? It wouldn't be real." Ankhselam said. "It's funny that I believed we were living in an illusion. Now, we truly are living in one. Nashi told me that the happiness and joy I had back in that world was only temporary. I thought I was alone in the world and I wanted to destroy it. Perhaps this world is what I was envisioning, but it's not much of a dream. I'm not sure what it is, but I don't feel the joy or happiness I thought I would have had if my plans had succeeded. That Nashi Dragneel really managed to affect me in ways I wouldn't have thought." When Ankhselam and Nashi last saw each other, Nashi took everything that Ankhselam stood for and threw it all in his face. He believed he was a god, but she stood against him and actually had him back down.

"I have thought you were different from before." Serena said. "However, you're not alone. I'm here."

"Why are you here, Serena?" Ankhselam questioned without even looking at her. "Why would you come here? I cast a spell that should have brought you back to life. I killed you when you were no longer of any use to me."

"I came here because of my heart." Serena said. "I was well aware of your power, but I didn't care. Call me insane or whatever, but I just wanted to stay by your side. Even if I would have died by your power just by being near you and you caring for me, it would have been blissful. I am nothing but absolutely devoted to you."

"And look where that got you." Ankhselam said. Is it at all possible he really does have regret for what happened? Serena saw that.

"Don't you want me here? Without me here, it would be just you here. You may have kept people at arm's length, but you still had others around." Serena said. "It would have been complete isolation for you."

"Maybe that's for the best. You shouldn't be here." Ankhselam claimed. Serena couldn't believe what she was hearing, but she refused to give up. She can't ignore how she feels towards him. That's why she did what she did.

"Look at me." Serena said. Ankhselam turned around, but he saw that she removed all her clothes and just stood there fully exposed. "None of that matters to me. I would have like to have been close to you, but I also would have been satisfied just being your toy for pleasure. My body was always yours to do with as you please and that hasn't changed." She moved a little closer to him and caressed his face. "At last, I can get close to you like this and just touch you. I'm not letting that go. You've endure so much misery over the years. That's what shaped you into what you are and I followed that man."

"What are you trying to say?" Ankhselam questioned.

"I'm saying that you no longer have to go through anything alone." Serena said. "Don't shut me away because I want to be here. We can live out all of eternity together. We can do whatever we like here, just the two of us. No matter how you feel about me, you're free to do what you want to me. All I want is to be here with you."

"I... I don't know how to let someone get close." Ankhselam said.

"Maybe I can teach you." Serena said. She took her own leap of faith and actually kissed him...and he didn't push away. Later, Ankhselam awoke and found himself in a bed with Serena, both in the nude. With it just being them, nothing can really hold the other back from doing what they want and having what they want. This is what Serena wants.

End of Flashback

...

"I really don't mind staying here for all of eternity. Being here allows me to live the dream I've always wanted since I've met this man." Serena said.

"Are you sure about that?" Nashi said.

"In the end, it all doesn't matter. I followed my heart and this is simply what my heart wants." Serena said. That had Nashi think about what her mother told her. She needs to do the same thing between Storm and Drake. Nothing else that happened matter because she needs to follow her heart. "Isn't that what you Fairy Tail wizards do?" Her saying that made it all clear on what Nashi needs to do.

"It is." Nashi said now that she sees a clear path with one of those two, but it will have to wait.

"As an added bonus, I actually can't get pregnant here. That means we can do whatever we like without any fear, hold nothing back." Serena said.

"Okay. I don't need to hear that part." Nashi said.

"It does get rather freaky and crazy." Serena teased, but Nashi didn't want to hear.

"Well, I think I have the answer." Ankhselam said as he came out. "Unfortunately, Nashi, there's really no way you can stop that spell. It's a highly advance resurrection spell. It can't be stopped even if you remove the magic circle or the conductor of this spell."

"There has to be a way!" Nashi said.

"The only way I think you can is that you bring down the one that cast it since it's his magic fueling it." Ankhselam said.

"That's what I was going to do either way." Nashi said. "If only I can summon Amata to help. Maybe she would be able to do something."

"Amata?" Ankhselam questioned.

"Believe it or not, my generation of dragon slayers has the ability to create brand new dragons into existence rather than turn into dragons." Nashi said. "Amata is the name of my dragon, but I have no idea how to call upon her help."

"Interesting..." Ankhselam said as he found that fascinating. "You're able to summon a new dragon. If you are able to do such a thing, there must be some transcending link that allows you to do that. To call upon something like that is not easy, but you can make it work."

"I know, but I don't know how." Nashi said.

"If there's one thing I know about you and your guild, you make anything possible." Ankhselam said. "There's a link between you and this dragon. One that is mental, spiritual, and emotional. If you can focus on those connections, maybe you can call on her." Nashi was amazed that Ankhselam actually helped her. Coming here seems to have helped all of her problems. That voice was right. When Ankhselam mentioned the link is mental, it made her think of something.

'That voice was right. I did find the answers here. Could it have been Amata? Did she somehow knew he would be able to help me?' Nashi wondered.

"It's time for you to go. I can send you back, and I do wish you well." Ankhselam said as he held out his hand to her and used his magic on her. His power worked as Nashi was being sent back to her own world. Being in this realm has had a strong effect on Ankhselam that he's no longer what he was before. As Serena snuggled up to him, they wish Nashi success. With Nashi on her way back, she intends to bring Sapphron down in one last fight.
