The Tale of the Lost Butterfly

Chapter 7: Addison's Special Day

At the Wilson Manor…

Addison was dreamily sleeping in her bed as the sunlight shun on the window.

The door of the room slowly crept open as Serena walked over to her sleeping younger sister.

"Psst, Addie."Serena whispered. "Happy birthday."

"...to you."Addison murmured.

"It's your birthday."Serena chuckled.

"...to me."Addison murmured before opening her eyes in excitement and stood up. "It's my birthday!"

"Mmm-hmm."Serena agreed with a smile. "And it's going to be perfect. We are going to do anything you want."

"Yes!"Addison cheered in delight and hugged Serena. "This is great, Rena!"

Serena and Addison then went down in the dinning room to have their breakfast.

Addison happily munched on her plate of waffles decorated with funfetti and ice cream as Serena ate her waffles with strawberries and syrup.

Serena wore a white low-neck top with lavender writing and designs, worn beneath a light blue parka with blue pockets, sleeve cuff and zipper strip. Her short-shorts were green vertical striped with a white belt that had a silver decorative buckle. She also wore lemon coloured shoes with a white tongue and toe, accenting the lining on the sides of the foot. The strings were azure, and on the side of the foot was a mauve design. Her lime stockings were with an azure cuff that had a ring of white around the middle.

Addison had her in two piglet rings that were tied off on each side of her head with two emerald green bobbled hair ties keeping them in place. She wore a bright yellow peter pan collared puffed sleeved top with a short blue pleated skirt, knee high socks with a pair of red shoes.

Charlotte and Valen then came into the room and both kissed Addison on her cheeks.

"Happy birthday, Addison!"Valen and Charlotte said in unison.

"Thank you, mum and dad."Addison thanked.

"Our little girl is growing up so fast."Charlotte chuckled with complete joy.

"They both do."Valen answered with a sad smile.

"Dad..."Serena sneered.

"Your overdoing it again."Addison stated.

"You two are still young."Valen complemented. "When your both older, you would understand."

Charlotte, Serena and Addison laughed lightly until the door bell started ringing.

"I'll get it!"Addison remarked as she stood up.

Addison rushed out of the dinning room to go answer the door.

When the little red haired girl opened the door, she found her grandmother standing in the doorway.

Joséphine Wilson was a woman of average height with short silver hair that was nearly white, deep hazelnut eyes and vivid crimson lipstick. She wore a black leather jacket with an upward collar and silver flat studs on the shoulders. Underneath, her black shirt had a prism design with light entering on side of a sphere and a ray of colours coming out of another side. She had black fingerless driving gloves with holes around the knuckles and on the back of her palm, a watch with a red strap on her right arm, and a gold studded bracelet on her left wrist. She also wore red jeans, a black belt and black shoes.

"Grandmere Joséphine!"Addison gasped in excitement.

"Addison!"Joséphine remarked. "Ma petite cerise!"

Joséphine and Addison hugged each other as Serena, Valen and Charlotte stocked their heads out of the corner.

"Maman!"Charlotte gasped excitedly.

Valen frowned. "Joséphine."

"Hi."Serena said with a wave. "It's been a while."

Charlotte, Addison and Serena hugged Joséphine while Valen stood where he was.

"You're getting bigger by the minute!"Joséphine remarked, holding Addison's face.

"Did you get my letter when I was at the snowy white-capped Alps in Switzerland?"

"Yes! And the ones from China, Rio and Africa, too!"Addison responded happily and became worried. "Did you really get chased by a lion?!"

"Yes."Joséphine chuckled. "But we wound up good friends in the end."

"Joséphine."Valen whispered. "It's her birthday, remember?"

Joséphine frowned at her son-in-law.

"Why do you think I'm here?"Joséphine retorted and gives Addison a package from inside her motorcycle helmet. "Happy birthday, ma petite cerise!"

Addison opened her birthday present to reveal a lovely dandelion yellow dress with small white polka dots, a white collar and a small yellow bow.

"Whoa! A new dress!"Addison remarked. "I love it!"

"Where is papa, mama?"Charlotte asked.

"Castor will be here within a couple of hours."Joséphine responded.

"Yay!"Addison cheered in joy.

Serena smiled. "Cool."

"Great."Valen muttered with a weak smile.

Joséphine smiled at Addison.

"And that is not all, ma petite cerise."Joséphine remarked. "We'll have a wonderful day, you and I! Just like the last time. We will go to the merry-go-round and to the zoo! We are going to have a ball!"

"Okay!"Addison giggled and placed on her small motorcycle helmet before looking at her parents and older sister. "I'll see you all later!"

Joséphine and Addison took off in her motorcycle as Charlotte, Valen and Serena waved them goodbye.

"I wanted to spend time with Addie today."Serena admitted sadly.

Charlotte placed a confronting hand on Serena's shoulder.

"It's alright, Serena."Charlotte assured. "You and Valen can both help out prepare Addison's birthday."

A panicking expression appeared on Valen's face as Charlotte glanced at him.

"Hey Valen, what did you get her?"Charlotte questioned.

"Oh well, it's a real big secret."Valen replied with a confident smile. "She's gonna love it. You'll see."

"Okay."Charlotte answered. "I'll be in the kitchen preparing the birthday's treat-tastic yummables, if any of you need me."

When Charlotte returned back to the manor, Valen started to panic even more which caused Serena to frown.

"You really didn't get Addison a birthday cake, isn't dad?"Serena asked, raising an eyebrow.

"No!"Valen said in defeat. "Everything but the birthday cake!"

"What?!"Serena scowled in disbelief. "And Addison's birthday is today!"

A smile suddenly appeared on Valen's face when he got an idea.

"Hold on! That's it!"Valen remarked with complete hope. "Lazlo!"

"Gruncle Lazlo?"Serena said in confusion. "But isn't he far from home?"

Valen shook his head in respond.

"Not exactly, Serena."Valen answered. "You see…"

Somewhere in the Multiverse…

Starlight Restaurant was a place inhabited by mewmen, monsters, elves and other fantastic creatures that would come and enjoy the foods made by the chefs that worked there.

The one who made the most exotic foods in the restaurant was the famous chef named Lazlo Marmalade.

Lazlo was an old man with pale blue hair, pale skin and light blue eyes. He wore a waist apron that was white, he also had red neckerchief as part of his chef uniform and black shoes.

He was the ex-husband of the former Queen of Mewni, Comet Butterfly and the estranged father of Queen Moon.

Lazlo was slowly stirring a big pot of soup before deciding to test the progress of his dish.

"I followed the ingredients."Lazlo said with a frown. "But it's still not fine."

Suddenly, a portal opened in the kitchen as a familiar voice rang out.

"Grandpa!"

"Gruncle Lazlo!"

Lazlo turned around, only for Star and Serena to hug him as Marco walked forward.

"Star, Serena, what are you two doing here?"Lazlo questioned. "Aren't you supposed to be on Earth to train using your magic?"

"Yes, but my father told us to come here."Serena exclaimed.

"Valen sent the two of you here?"Lazlo questioned. "What for?"

"Grandpa, your help is needed!"Star admitted. "It's Addison's birthday! But there is no cake for the party!"

"Well, you came at a bad timing, star cake."Lazlo commented. "I'm busy working. And got to fix a soup before feeding to a bunch of hungry customers."

"Did you give them the starters?"Marco asked.

"Yes. But they're still hungry."Lazlo answered and notice Marco. "And you are…"

"Grandpa. This is Marco Diaz."Star introduced. "His my first friend best from Earth along with Rena."

Lazlo and Marco shook hands.

"It's nice to meet you, Mr Marmalade."Marco responded.

"Just call me, Lazlo."Lazlo insisted. "I'm no king. Just a simple famous chef in the multiverse."

"Cool."Marco complemented.

Serena walked over to the soup and tasted it with a small spoon.

"The flavour taste fine, Gruncle Lazlo."Serena exclaimed. "But something is missing."

"I was thinking the same thing, Serena."Lazlo replied with a troubled look. "A good ingredient is missing to make this soup exquisite."

Serena checked the shelves that little bottles in it and picked one that had purple liquid on it.

"How about this one?"Serena suggested.

"That's Dragonberry Extract."Lazlo answered. "But I usually use it to make pies."

"Let's try this then."Serena insisted.

Serena placed the extract inside the soup and it changed from bronze to purple.

After the soup, Lazlo prepared his soup in a bunch of bowls before decorating them with a golden swirl in the center with a purple flower and a few green leaves on top.

When the chef prepared the soup to his customers, they all enjoyable started eating them.

Star, Marco and Serena smiled at the sight before looking at Lazlo.

"They love your soup, Lazlo."Marco commented.

"It's a big hit!"Star remarked.

"Doesn't matter if your a mewman, a monster ,a unicorn or from a different dimension."Lazlo explained with a smile. "At an eatery, all that matters is that the grub's good."

"Now that I helped you with your soup, can you help with preparing a good birthday cake for Addison?"Serena asked hopefully.

Lazlo smiled. "You three helped me. Now I'll help you."

When all the customers left, Lazlo began working on Addison's birthday cake with Star, Marco and Serena's help.

Soon after the cake was ready and wrapped in a big gift box.

"Looks like it's all done."Marco complemented.

Star activated her dimensional scissors to create a portal for her, Marco and Serena to return back to Earth while dragging the cake with them.

"Bye, Gruncle Lazlo!"Serena thanked. "And thanks for the cake!"

"Tell Grandma Comet at the Grandma Farm that I said hi!"Star admitted.

Lazlo's smiled vanished at hearing his granddaughter's words.

"Star, your grandma is-"Lazlo started.

Lazlo wasn't able to finish his sentence as his granddaughter and her companions disappeared inside the portal.

The chef looked down quietly as he bowed his head down.

"Another time then."Lazlo said with a sad expression.

At the Wilson Manor…

The back garden of the manor was decorated with decorations, balloons and a sign that said 'Birthday, Girl!'. There was also a table with food and desserts including a pile of presents that were for Addison.

Addison was happily jumping in a bouncy castle with her friends that were part of her ladybird scout team; Becky, Yvette, Jia, Gwen and Millie.

Becky was a short girl with dark tan skin and black hair tied up. She wore a light orange shirt, blue jumper dress, white socks and blue flats. She also wore small white pearl earrings.

Yvette was a small, light-skinned girl with brunette hair tied into pigtails with purple bands and blue eyes. She wore a sleeveless red shirt with a white collar and a yellow button on the center, along with a purple skirt and yellow red sneakers.

Jia was a light-skinned, half-Chinese girl with long brunette hair, grey eyes and freckles. She wore a blue long-sleeved shirt revealing her shoulders, black shorts, a pink headband, white earrings, white socks with red heels, toes, and cuffs and black tennis boots.

Gwen was a thin girl with light skin, long brunette hair and mint green eyes. She wears a light purple beret, a t-shirt in horizontal black and white stripes, a pink overall dress, black and white striped socks and purple shoes.

Addison was wearing the dress her grandmother gave her with a matching yellow headband, white socks and yellow flats.

Charlotte spoke to several guests before going over to Richard and .

Richard Wilson was an elderly man with white hair and red eyes. He wore a dark magenta robe with midnight purple accents and was in a high-tech wheelchair that had blue blanket that covered his legs.

"Mama, papa, have you two seen Valen and Serena?"Charlotte asked with a hint of worry. "They've been gone for quite a while."

"I'm afraid not, dear."Joséphine replied.

"I am too fond of Valen, but he wouldn't dare miss our granddaughter's birthday."Richard said with a frown.

"Here is the cake, everyone!"Valen's voice announced.

Addison's eyes widen as she stopped opening her presents when she heard her father's voice.

All the guests turned to see Valen, Serena, Star and Marco came forward moving a table on wheels that had a large two-layered cake on it.

There was white-frosted Vienna finger cookies surrounding the first layer, there was more whipped cream across the cake with some being modelled after the turrets of a fantasy castle. There were pink and vanilla cookie sandwiches including whipped crème and fudge linings on top and sugar wafer cookies (presumably strawberry flavoured due to their being pink). The top layer was covered in strawberry marmalade and featured a number 8 candle with a white chocolate crown at the very center which had the words 'Happy Birthday, Addison!' written at the bottom of it.

Everyone gasped in awe as they stared at the amazing birthday cake.

"Happy Birthday, Addison!"Star and Marco said in unison.

"A homemade cake for my special little sister."Serena stated kindly.

"Come make a wish, sweetheart."Valen encouraged.

Addison nodded and rushed forward as Valen placed her on his shoulders in order for his youngest to blow out the candle of her delicious looking cake.

"Thanks, everyone."Addison thanked with a bright smile. "You've all made this a very awesome birthday for me. And I'll make sure to remember this always."

Charlotte, Richard, Joséphine, Serena, Star, Marco and the other guests all cheered and clapped their hands at Addison.

Valen placed Addison down as Charlotte walked over to him, Serena, Star and Marco.

"All of you really surprised me."Charlotte chuckled. "Where did you get this amazing cake?"

"My grandfather Lazlo is the one who baked it with our help, Aunt Charlotte."Star declared.

"But Serena was the one who came up with it's flavours and style."Marco added.

Serena smiled shyly as her cheeks became a bit pink.

"That is a very thoughtful thing for you to do, Serena."Charlotte remarked and glanced at Star. "And Star make sure to tell your grandfather we said thank you for the cake, the next time you see him."

"I will."Star replied with a small grin.

Valen chuckled as he ruffled Serena's hair before hugging her.

"And we couldn't be more prouder."Valen declared proudly.

"Thanks, dad."Serena answered before looking back at Addison play with her friends. "That means a lot."
