A fanfic story as old as time. A man from reality ending up in a fictional world. Many have done it and I enjoy many of them. To all who wrote them i salute you.

"Nothing is real" John Lennon while recording strawberry fields forever:

"One two three four!" A male voice said loudly.

Their was was brief sound of guitars and drums beginning to play. Then their was nothing...not a single sound to be heard afterwards. It was as if the whole world went silent. That has been one of the worst days of his life. If only he could erase it from his memory. He missed him very much. Gene. He thought with eyes opening. Jacob looked about to find himself back in his room. Sweet home. A four blue walled room with posters, a desk and a dresser. He had been dreaming it for several months ever since the incident.

"Gene I'm so sorry" Jacob muttered softly.

He rolled over onto his side and gazed out the open window. Multi coloured leaves adorned the ground as he looked at them. Regret filling up deep inside. Life was cruel...at any moment someone could go out and die and that what happened to his old friend. Had a stroke at age 23, so many years ahead of him and yet cut short just as they were beginning to perform. Pulling himself from the bed Jacob quickly changed. He had work today and then he'd take the weekend off. Maybe later he'd watch Bubblegum crisis. Depends on how his day would go...hopefully it would be good. Stepping onto the living room the phone began to rang. Walking over he picked it up.

"Hello?" He said to the caller.

"Hey Jacob I'm sick and cannot come today" Ellen coughed violently before continuing. "I'm going to need you to handle my shift today as well if that's possible. I'm real sorry but I've got a bad one" She added sympathetically.

Jacob nodded.

"Yeah I'll take care of it, but I get the weekend off including Monday" He replied with an ultimatum.

"Yeah that's good. I'll see you Tuesday" She replied before hanging up.

It was 3 hours later he sat alone as his desk in the library. It was a surprisingly slow day. He was a book keeper Andrade sure when they left and returned to their rightful place. He was alone today and had the place to himself which didn't feel right. It was odd. There wasn't much today except wait for somebody and nobody came. It was like everyone but him was on holiday. With a sigh he turned his attention to his computer which displayed the inventory. Something caught his eye however and he leaned in to see something wasn't even there. What the hell?. Heir to the empire hadn't even been checked out when he was here yesterday. He had closed the library yesterday and he hadn't checked the book out as far as he knew. Was this all just a prank by Ellen?. If only he knew then he'd be able to see clearly.

"Best to check" He muttered to himself. "Like I got anything to do anyway"

Standing up he walked from the office and up the stairs to the fiction section. Reaching the stop he moved to the science fiction section out of memory. Across from it was the science fiction movies and shows which most he had seen. Moving to the S section he found Heir to the empire was their as it was supposed to be. He was confused for a second but didn't show it visually.

"Odd" Jacob said aloud as he quickly checked the book. "At least its here"

It wasn't too outta place and was normal. It must've been a glitch or someone pulling his leg. Most likely Ellen who had a mischievous streak 3 miles long. She was usually one to pull stunts like this which weren't too bad given he'd seen worse back in highschool. He wished he was younger again so he didn't have to worry so much. Being an adult was harder than he originally anticipated. The sudden death of gene didn't help either.

"Well that was anti-climatic" He admitted sliding the book back.

Moving back down the stairs he stopped suddenly. He suddenly felt cold. Looking around he saw nobody and frowned. Must be comingdown with a flu. He thought as he leaned against the railing. His eyes fell back onto his office where the active computer was. Walking inside he began to correct the glitch with a manual override. Quickly switching it over he keyed the book as in stock. Disengaging the override he slumped into his chair with a sigh. Couldn't get any worse now could it?.

Rubbing his eyes he suddenly heard a large crash in the storage room. Leaping to his feet he opened the lowest drawer and pulled out a 38. Snubnose revolver. Quickly loading it he hesitantly began towards the storage room. Opening the door he held the small pistol infront as he stepped inside. Book cases stood high as he moved in. Eyes swept from side to side as he past the first bookshelf. Cocking the hammer back he stepped to the first intersection. Looking each way he saw nobody. Hands were shaking as he chose the right walkway. The sound had come from there if he was correct.

"Whoever's back here you best show yourself!" He warned. "I've called the cops!" He lied.

There was no response only a mild shuffling within the room. He really couldn't place it due to the echo. As he rounded the corner he saw a figure dressed in a white lab coat and an ecstatic look on his young face. The man was skinny with blonde hair and blue eyes and he stood over a fallen book case with many books scattered about the floor. The man and white noticed him and the revolver in hand. The man's eyes went wide with fear as his hands shot up in surrender.

"Don't shoot I'm a scientist!" The unknown individual shouted taking a step back. "I didn't mean to cause the mess I was flying blind when I teleported here!" The scientist quickly explained which caught Jacob off guard.

Jacob looked at him and reluctantly lowered his gun. Hopefully they can reach an agreement and clean this mess up.

"Alright I'll bite" Jacob voiced as he saw the scientist lower his arms.

This suddenly bit him in the ass when the man pulled out a pistol from his own jacket in a blinding motion and fired. A dart struck Jacob in the neck and he instinctively grasped it. Yanking it out he saw it was a tranquilizer dart. He had been shot!. Was this planned?, it certainly didn't seem that way given the scientists surprise and lack of readiness. The effects of the tranquilizer we're already taking hold as he suddenly felt very weak.

"Mason's gonna love you, living proof of my achievement!" The scientist said ecstatically as he saw Jacob stagger back.

Raising his gun Jacob's arms began to feel like noodles and he squeeze the trigger letting out a shot. The scientist didn't even have time to react as the bullet ripped through his torso and through his right lung. He yelled out in pain as he staggered backwards. A second afterwords Jacob lost complete consciousness. The only I think he heard a low mumbling.

"Bastard shot me!. Oh I'm definitely going to enjoy what happens next" the mans voice rang in his ears as he lost consciousness completely. He began drifting down an endless stream as his body was dragged upwards and away.
