Gabby had been given strict directions to stay at her post when nobody else but Slimer was at The Firehouse. This was in case of phone calls and pages from the Ecto-1. However, The Firehouse was quiet enough that if there were any phone calls or pages, she could hear them from afar. She spent this time doing just one of the things that she normally did when there was a lack of clerical duties: spritzing moon water on the property. This batch was energized by the waning moon with the intention of banishing any ghosts that weren't Slimer. In her enchantment, she made extra sure not to include Slimer in this spell, much to the dismay of Peter, who at this point was tired of putting up with his shenanigans.

As far as she knew, it was working. Nothing like Clara the Tentacle Creature or any other supernatural creature attacked. The alps didn't eat any of the guys' dreams. But how much of that was because there was a lull in demonic activity in this particular place for other reasons? She didn't know. But she did it anyway. It gave her peace of mind.

She played with the idea of spritzing the Ghost Containment Unit but that tank was already keeping demons secured. She was afraid that the spell may cancel out the effects of the containment unit somehow. Those ghosts could escape while the spell was repelling them, after all.

She spritzed the air around her desk. Because she felt like it, she sprayed some in her hair and decided to comb it. Because why not? Especially when her hair and scalp would be both shiny and demon-free?

She was taken out of her misty playfulness by the pager on the desk.

"Gabby?" said Egon's voice, "Gabby, this is urgent."

Gabby pressed the button.

"Yes, I'm here," she said.

"I need you for a very special assignment."

Gabby perked up at this. "I'm listening…"

"We are currently fighting a giant ghost in Chinatown that has swallowed Ray and a bunch of pedestrians. We have the ghost contained in a sphere but we need to make it eject the contents of its stomach. I have a sample of Campylobactor jejuni in the lab. It is specially labeled and you can't miss it. I need you to put on gloves, grab that sample, grab a box of medical masks and meet me out front. I will pick you up in the Ecto-1 when I see you."

Oh my god, thought Gabby. She was actually going to be there while a ghost was being busted. Not only that, she would actually help them bust a ghost. It was terrifying but at the same time, she couldn't help but be excited at the thought of actually being there and not being stuck at The Firehouse.

"I also need you to do several more things before I pick you up."

"What else do you need me to do?"

"I need you to run to the closet, slip on a ghostbuster suit and then run to the roof to get the prototype of the newest proton gun."

"Wait… are you going to let me…"

"Yes. You're going to help us trap this ghost. Now hurry."

Gabby couldn't believe it. The days of daydreaming were over. She wasn't just going to help bust a ghost; she was actually going to bust a ghost. All of this was happening one day before her contract was up. What a treat! Granted, in ideal circumstances, this would not need to happen. But she was happy that it was happening. She had no time to jump up and down in celebration, though. She had to hurry and fulfill Egon's request.

After carefully retrieving the bacteria sample and the medical-grade face masks, she went to the closet and grabbed the spare ghostbusting jumpsuit. The suit was tailored for Janine, who was quite a bit taller than Gabby, so wearing it made her feel like a child trying on mommy's clothes out of curiosity. She then ran to the roof, where the proton pack prototype was. She slipped on the proton pack, which was understandably heavy, but by now, she was used to carrying multiple boxes of shoes at a time at her parents' store. The only difference was that the weight was felt more on her back and not her front.

She struggled to run down the stairs with the proton pack, oversized suit, bacteria sample and masks but she made it right before Egon stopped in front of the Firehouse.

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEUR… REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEUR…

The moment the car stopped, Gabby opened the passenger side and buckled in.

"I have everything you asked for," she said.

Egon scanned the items in her arms.

"Good," he said, "We don't have a moment to spare."

With that, the car and the alarm sped up once more. As the buildings and pedestrians whirled by Gabby, she started to wonder whether Egon chose her to do this because he had faith in her… or if it was because the other guys were desperate and had no one else to turn to. She didn't feel like asking right now or ever.

"This is very sudden but I hope you understand. When we get to the scene, we will need you to feed this hungry ghost the masks first and then the bacteria. I want to ensure that all of the people who will be thrown up won't be exposed to the bacteria while it is happening."

"And then we'll trap the ghost, right?" asked Gabby.

"Right. It's such a big ghost that we may need all five of us to trap it, but nothing is certain right now."

Gabby thought about what Egon had said over the intercom, that the ghost was contained in a bubble. How were they doing this? She would soon find out.

When Egon and Gabby arrived, they were met with a decimated city block and a live Chinese dragon trapped in a yellow bubble. Even through the yellow hue, the dragon's constantly-changing coloration and patterns could be seen. It was like a hyper-realistic animatronic at an amusement park but with no previous testing before being shown to guests. Gabby was frozen in fear while still sitting in the driver's seat. She desired to run away and seek shelter like the pedestrians but she was specifically brought here not to do that.

Peter and Winston turned around to greet them but not with happiness or open arms.

"You got the bacteria?" Peter asked Egon.

"I believe she can answer that," said Egon as he gestured towards Gabby.

"Yes," said Gabby, "I have it right here."

"Are you alright?" asked Winston, "Your shoulders are shrugged."

"Cut her some slack, Winston," said Peter, "It's her first busting job!"

"How is everybody in the dragon's stomach?" asked Egon.

"It sounds like they're fine," said Peter, "The ice breaker's going well."

Meanwhile, Ray was still getting to know everybody that he shared a dragon stomach with.

"My name is… Xiu…" said a woman's voice.

"It's okay if you can't think of an animal that starts with 's'" said Peter.

"My name starts with 'X' in your alphabet."

"How about a Chinese animal name, then?"

"Okay, then. Xiu… Xiong. Xiong means Bear."

"Hey, guys! I'm learning Chinese!"

"That's great, Ray," shouted Egon, "You can tell us all about it when you get out of there." Egon cleared his throat before continuing. "Attention, everyone! I am about to feed this creature a box of masks and I want every one of you to put one on. Then, I am going to feed it this sample of bacteria that will make the creature sick. I want to ensure that only the creature gets sick and not you. Hopefully, this will cause the creature to eject you from its body. If you understand, please say 'yes.'"

"Yes," said the voices in the dragon's stomach.

"Keep in mind that this bacterium is Campylobactor jujuni. This means that the part of the body that you will be ejected out of might not be the mouth."

"Now he tells us," said Peter.

Egon looked at Gabby as he powered up his proton gun.

"I'm going to fire a hole into the containment sphere," he said, "I predict that the dragon will try to bite at us through the hole. Once its mouth is open, I want you to throw the masks into the mouth. Do I make myself clear?"

"Yes," said Gabby. She couldn't help but tremble. The lives of these innocent people depended on her actions going as planned. But this was what the everyday life of a ghostbuster was like, she supposed.

Egon fired a brief shot from his proton beam, burning a hole through the bubble. Once the dragon noticed the small hope of escape, it attacked the hole, hoping that the hole would get bigger from each bite. Fortunately, the bubble was strong enough that no amount of ghost-biting would damage it. Eventually, the dragon's entire open mouth slipped through, showing its gnarly teeth and fat, squirming tongue.

Gabby screamed but held her composure enough that she threw the box of medical-grade masks into the creature's mouth right afterward.

Success. The dragon swallowed the box.

"Good job!" said Egon.

The praise brought only faint pride since the job wasn't over yet. They now had to wait for the people to put on their masks, which took at least several minutes.

"Does everybody have a mask?!" shouted Egon.

"Pretty much," said Ray, "Although it's kind of too dark to tell."

"Yes!" said Xiu eagerly. "We are starting to burn in here!"

The voices in the stomach started to panic.

"Oh, jeez, you're right!"

"The gastric juices are digesting them! Now it's time for phase two," said Egon. He turned to Gabby again. "Are you ready to throw in the sample?"

"Yes," said Gabby. Now, her anxiety wasn't so much causing her to stall as it was causing her to get this over with as soon as possible. She opened up the sample's plastic case, waited until the creature's mouth was open wide enough and threw it in. Like everything else, the ghost swallowed it.

"Now we wait…" said Egon.
