Chapter 2 : What if we could be?
At school Bonnie was busy conducting finger-painting sessions with the children. When the children left at 1pm, Bonnie began packing away the toys and hanging the finger-paintings on the wall. She interrupted by one of teachers, Nora who came in with a bouquet of different flowers "This came for you at the desk." Bonnie turned around abruptly "Oh wow..."
"These are really pretty. I didn't know you were dating again" Nora said giving it to her.
"I didn't know I was dating either. Maybe it's one of the thirsty dads" Bonnie joked picking the card from between the pink and red roses.
Thinking of you

I will not take no for answer – The Strange Man
Bonnie smiled slightly.
"So, who is it from?" Nora asked.
"A weirdo I met at a party" Bonnie said.
For the next 4 days he sent flowers to her house and her job with little notes. On Friday Nora stood in the doorway watching Bonnie toss the flowers out "Are you going to go out with this mysterious guy? He seems relentless"
"Yeah its fucking weird. I have no idea why he would want to go out with me" Bonnie said wiping down her desk and picking up her bag.
"Because you're amazing and love kids. Please ...we can't handle seeing another flower here. Stacy is starting to think she has a bad husband" Nora joked about one of the teachers. Bonnie rolled her eyes.
On Saturday Bonnie arrived at her mother and stepfather home in Fulham. She brought homemade blueberry muffins into the kitchen and kissed her mother's cheek. "Hey George" she said to the man sitting at the table smoking.
"Shouldn't be out doing what young people do on weekends. You're always over here"
Bonnie rolled her eyes and kissed his cheek "You love my annoying company. What do you guys know about the Prime Minister?"
Her parents paused and looked at each other. "So now you want know about politics?" George said. Abby slapped his shoulder playfully "I read all the magazines. He's 35 and the youngest Prime minister. Never been married. The first one to be a Prime Minister and not married. However he has been rumoured with models and actresses but it all died down. Men like that are workaholics and power drunk assholes who don't have time for functional relationships" Abby said pouring Bonnie a cup of tea.
"And that rumour about him being gay" George said.
"Oh yeah. He's either gay or a sex addict" Abby said. Bonnie laughed "Wow okay"
"I voted for the lad. Some of the blokes at my Chambers aren't too please about it. But I think he's got some interesting policies ...this country needs a young fresh blood...I've grown tired of the old bastards" George explained.
"Wait why would your work colleagues be mad?" Bonnie asked looking between them.
"Because he's a Tory. Where on earth have you been living?" George said.
"I'VE BEEN BUSY PLUS I WENT THROUGH A DRAMATIC BREAK UP. AT ONE POINT IN TIME I DIDN'T WATCH TV. WHAT ON EARTH IS A TORY?" Bonnie yelled.
"Conservative... Bonnie and why are you so curious about politics?" Abby said squeezing her daughter's hand and Bonnie shrugged.
"Well please don't teach the 4 year olds about the Tory and Labour Party" Abby said.
On Monday Bonnie met Caroline for a quick coffee and scone before they head off to their jobs. Bonnie showed her some pictures from Hayley's engagement party and Caroline was in awe. She was a big fan of romances and soulmates Bonnie on the other hand thinks romance is a lie and everything crumbles eventually.
"Don't freak out but can you tell your boss to stop sending flowers to my job the girls are asking questions and I'm not interested in whatever it is he's doing" Bonnie said. Caroline gasped "That's why he wanted you number? Sneaky bastard! And you're turning down the Prime Minister? Wow you must be really serious about never dating again"
Bonnie rolled her eyes.
"You should go out with him. It could be great. He's sweet and charming" Caroline said hooking Bonnie's arm.
"I like my quiet life. I don't need that kind of publicity. I can't do politicians" Bonnie said.

After dinner Bonnie went into her room, sat on the floor and pulled a box from under the bed. She opened it and began examining pictures of him and her. She smiled as she remembered the good times. She exhaled when she remembered how it ended. She looked at her little cut outs of wedding ideas and the neighbourhood she wanted to raise children in. After work the next day, Hayley messaged Bonnie to come over in the evening to help her with wedding plans. She knew Bonnie always had great sense of style.
Bonnie walked up to the door and rung the door bell while she waited for Hayley to answer she stared at her phone and texted a meme to Caroline. When the door opened she was shocked to see him, Klaus Mikaelson stand there with a wide smile looking attractive in his dark leather jacket and jeans "Come in" he said stepping aside allowing her to walk in.
"Uh Where's Hayley?" She asked looking around.
"I must confessed...I actually had Hayley asked you over here since you're ignoring me. She's out with my brother and friends for dinner" He said smiling. Bonnie fold her arms "Okay relentless. Cute flowers but I've been busy"
"Well since you're here and I made dinner I thought we can sit eat and chat" he said. Bonnie rolled her eyes " What is this? Is this some kinda political ploy? Why do want to make me dinner? What do you want to be around me?" She ranted. He stared at her with his arms behind his back "You didn't vote"
"Okay you're freaking me out...how did you know that?" She frowned.
"You don't have an opinion of me. Everyone has an opinion of me"
"Sounds like I should be worried"
He laughed "Maybe..maybe not but I like talking to you it's refreshing..its normal"
Bonnie nodded and took off her jacket "Well I am curious about your cooking skills"
Klaus smiled. He made Roast chicken with lemon, sage and parsley with creamy potatoes. She sat at the table as he poured the wine and dish out the food. They drank, ate and talked about each other's life. Bonnie talked about moving to London at 18 after her mother remarried. She avoided questions about her last relationship. He loved her laughter and she tried to pretend as if she didn't like his chats. He was easy to talk to. After dinner he popped some popcorn and they sat on the couch and watched movies. Hayley walked through the door with Elijah who was carrying her shoes.
"Oh hey you two" Hayley said smiling.
"Hey guys" Bonnie said getting up with Klaus. The brothers stared at each other.
"Bonnie nice to see you again" Elijah said looking between her and Klaus. She smiled and nodded sensing the tension between him and Klaus. Bonnie grabbed her jacket and Klaus offered to take her safely back home.
The following day after her reading and drawing sessions with the kids, Bonnie was getting ready to get back home she stepped out of the school building and there was a black tinted car parked. Bonnie recognised the man standing by the door, it was Klaus's driver. She rolled her eyes and thought about how relentless he was.
"Miss Bennett..nice to see you again" he said opening the car door. Bonnie smiled tightly "Nice to see you again Peter" she said sliding into the backseat. At the window of the school Nora was staring out puzzled. Klaus wanted to take her to a park he liked to visit to clear his head. They walked around a bit while eating tacos and talking. It was quiet and Bonnie loved the air.
"I'm going to this climate change thing tomorrow so I won't be around to annoy you" he said.
"Thank God phewww" Bonnie joked.
"But this weekend my brother-in-law is opening up a wine and entertainment bar you should come with me" he offered. Bonnie hesitated she didn't want to be seen with him she knew it would draw attention and she hated publicity. And what would he think if he saw her with the freaking Prime Minister. A TORY.
"That's too much? I know I'm sorry" Klaus said. Bonnie laughed "Uh sounds fun. Wine and entertainment sounds amazing"
Caroline wanted to come over after work so Bonnie can properly fill her in on her and Klaus. Bonnie was vague in texts and Caroline wanted to know more. She brought over tacos and wine. Bonnie put on the some music while she grabbed two wine glasses, Caroline was feeding pieces of fish to Midnight from her taco shell "So he got you to come to Hayley's house just so he can have a date night with you?"
Bonnie laughed sarcastically "That was not date night nor any kind of date...I think. It was weird"
"He is relentless and a strategist but I think its sweet he made you dinner. I didn't even know he can cook" Caroline said sipping her wine.
"He inviting me to this art and wine thing over the weekend. I am going...well that's what I said to him but I'm having second, third and maybe one hundred thoughts" Bonnie yelled. Caroline laughed "Babe you should go. He likes you which is amazing. You deserve better and an upgrade from you know who"
Bonnie smiled slightly " I don't think I could handle that type of attention. What will my mother think or the girls at the school and social media...you know how crazy some people can get. There is so much I want to question him about. He said everyone has an opinion about him which is alarming"
"He's a politician of course people have an opinion about him. Maybe view him as a person and not his job. Take your time no rush" Caroline said. Bonnie nodded.
