Chapter 5: Selene's New Weapons
Selene didn't know what to think. One moment she was sleeping in Hermes cabin and the next she was the only camper in Cabin 8. She never felt more alone in her life. Clarisse wanted nothing to do with her, as she hadn't forgotten about Selene turning into a wolf. So Luke was the only one that taught her. Because of the fact that her mother was skilled with the bow she was able to shoot at her target, no matter if it was moving or not.
"Glad to see that you've gained one of Artemis remarkable talents," Chiron told her.
She sighed and said, "Do you think mother will be punished?"
"She already has," Chiron said. "But it doesn't start until you return to the land of your birth."
"England."
He nodded.
"Just because your mother is Artemis doesn't mean that I'm letting you off easy."
Selene grinned at that. She was glad that someone was treating her like she was a normal person. That night, after dinner, Selene was heading back to her cabin when she saw a figure standing there. He wore all black and the look that he gave her was coldness. She walked into her cabin and got ready for bed. Something about that man unnerved him.

Severus had arrived at Camp Half-blood and let Mr. D know that he was here. You didn't walk around the grounds and Dionysus not know that you were there. The only thing that he didn't know was that Severus had already been claimed. As he headed back from the Big House he saw a girl standing there. She had long black hair, silver eyes, and an aura that felt like the moon. When he saw the scar, he knew who it was. Selene Potter, daughter of James Potter.
And then she went into Cabin 8 with no punishment from Artemis. What the Hades was going on here? The next morning, he sat at the Hermes table, eating breakfast. He saw the other campers yawning and not talking to anyone. Soon Selene arrived, got her food, and sat down at the Artemis table.
"Looks like Moonbeam is up," Luke said.
"Why do you call her that?" Severus asked him.
"Because she's the daughter of Artemis," he told him. "Didn't you know that?"
No, he didn't know that and that unnerved him.
"Yeah, her mother got punished," another camper said. "Has to spend nine months out of the year with her daughter."
Oh dear gods. If Selene was accepted to Hogwarts than Artemis would be trailing behind. That meant only one thing: Personal pain if he pissed her off. No, he wasn't about to find out what a pissed off goddess was like. He hadn't made his insurance payments yet.
He got roped into teaching wrestling, which had to be his punishment for becoming a Death Eater. Luke was teaching another kid and so he got stuck with a bunch of girls that wanted to check their looks. The other Selene, daughter of Aphrodite, chased a boy around the circle, all dignity forgotten.
"Help me, I don't want to get cut."
"Get back here, whiny boy."
"I think there was a mistake when Aphrodite claimed her," Luke said.
Severus was beginning to think that.
"Name," he said, even though he knew.
"Selene," she said.
"Alright, focus on what I'm doing."
She nodded and he showed her how to punch and that sand was a good weapon. She got him a couple of times and he found in her a determination that had nothing to do with James Potter. He figured that, like him, she just wanted to live. He worked with her for two hours before she ran off to shower and dress.
Severus was still there when they had their weekly Capture the Flag. Hermes had allied themselves with several cabins, including Artemis. In Selene's hand was what had to be her new weapons. Around her waist was a hat and she had a pendent that looked like a bow.
"The first team to capture the flag, wins. The river is the boundary; I'm going to be on-site medic. Magical weapons are allowed, no maiming allowed."
The horn was blown and all Hades was set loose.
Severus was on the Athena team and he was watching Jackson as well as Potter. Suddenly an Ares camper appeared and charged at him. He lost sight of both of them and knocked him out with the butt of his sword.
"Take that, old man," another one said.
"Old man, your calling me an old man," Severus said. 'Oh that's it. I'm kicking your ass."
Swords clashed and because Severus had far more training than the blowhard Ares kid he was able to slice the kids face open. The boy screamed like a girl.
"Looks like you got your ass kicked by an old man," he told him and he ran off to find both Jackson and Potter.
When he found Potter he saw a girl shooting down the Ares allies without any problems. He had to admit she was damn good with the bow. Seven Demeter girls appeared and something happened that Severus had never seen before. Potter was using wandless magic, making the Earth turn on Demeter's children. Even at the age of nearly eleven, he was seeing a skill that not many fully grown wizards could do.
They were thrown against trees and the vines wrapped around them. She turned to face him, saw his helmet color, and then suddenly a little runt appeared. He had to be around five, but he was charging at them.
"What the Hades?" Severus said and he was thrown into the air and landed on his side, going cold.

"What the-?"
"I'm going to make you rue the day that you went up against Heracles son."
"Little boy, we're on the same team."
"DON'T CALL ME A LITTLE BOY."
And he ran over and grabbed a large boulder. Selene put him to sleep and ran over to where she thought the adult was at. She found him knocked out cold, but he was still alive. She ran to get help just in-time to see Percy get claimed as Poseidon's son. She didn't take into account what that meant.
"YOU ATTACKED A MEMBER OF YOUR TEAM," Chiron screamed at the little runt.
"I think we shouldn't ask him any questions for a couple of days," Selene told Annabeth.
"I think you're right," she said.
The next morning, she went to check on her former team member and found that he was awake and upset.
"I can't believe that I got attacked by a member of my team."
She sat down and said, "Yeah, I was shocked as well."
He looked at her and asked, "Where did you get that bow?"
"Oh the Hephaestus children made it for me," she said. "It's a lot better than my old bow. My mother even had a hat made that turns me invisible."
"And what you did to the Demeter kids."
She sighed and said, "I don't know what it is. But I've been able to do it for a couple of years. The Dursley's hated it when I did that sort of things, but, here, I can do it and no one says anything."
"Miss Potter, do you know anything about your mortal father?"
"Only that he died in a car crash because he was drunk," she said. "Aunt Petunia likes to remind me of that."
"Miss-Selene, James Potter didn't die in a car crash and he wasn't a drunk," he told her. "Your father was a wizard."
She looked at him and asked, "Like the sons of Hecate."
"A little less advance," Severus told her. "James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, me, and so many others went to a school called Hogwarts."
Selene snorted with laughter, but then it died away when she saw the look on his face.
"Hogwarts is a school that teaches magic," he went on. "Your father, your stepmother, my own friends, so many others going back well over a thousand years, all were taught there. When you turn eleven you get a letter, inviting you to attend. And with the talent that I saw, you will make a fine witch."
She smiled at that and then asked, "So if my father didn't die in a car crash, then what killed him and his wife?"
She heard him sighing and said, "Your father and stepmother were killed by the evilest man that has ever wielded a wand. His name was Lord Voldemort, but most call him He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named or You-Know-Who. He killed hundreds of people, but you survived his Killing Curse. I think that it might have been due to your divine blood. He did attack the Potter's during the Full Moon, when your mother's power is at its height. I do know that he was told of a prophecy and figured out that it was talking about your family."
"How do you know this?"
"I use to be one of Voldemort's supporters, but I didn't overhear the prophecy and I didn't lead him to your family's house. If I had known when he would attack, I would have fought against him."
She sensed that he was telling the truth about what he would have done.
"I'm not mad at you," she told him.
"Thanks," Severus said.

A/N: In my story Severus never overheard the prophecy. It will be revealed in Selene's third year who told Voldemort the prophecy. If all of you are wondering why he calls Voldemort by his name was because he's not afraid of him as he's Big Three and far more powerful than Voldemort is. On another note, I thought that it should be Severus telling her about the fact that she's a witch and that her father wasn't a drunk, because Severus doesn't tell lies about what people are like. If James isn't a drunk, then Severus will make that clear that James wasn't a drunk.
Severus also wants to understand more about why Selene is able to do wandless magic at such a young age. I also thought writing Severus reaction in being called an old man was funny. Ares kids really need to learn to respect their elders. Also, I know that I didn't cover Selene receiving her bow and cap. However, she will be taking both to Hogwarts with her.
