Chapter 15: Hermione's Wisdom
Hermione knew that Draco didn't understand why Selene had helped Neville out. She knew that it was mainly because she wasn't a naturally vindictive person and had a good heart. But Hermione knew that it would cause problems later on down the road.
"I'm confused," he told her.
"Because you thought something would be funny and Selene didn't agree with you."
"Yep," he said.
"Or maybe she thinks that you're being a jerk and she doesn't like jerks," Pansy said.
"I'm not being a jerk, I'm just confused."
Hermione sighed and said, "Look, Draco, you need to know a couple of things about Selene. Her muggle family didn't treat her so well. Well, her cousin was different from his parents, but that's the only difference. And her muggle family decided to go to the States it was to get rid of her."
That part wasn't true, but she didn't dare tell him about the gods. She doubted that he believed in them anyway.
"She ran away from them and found shelter. They helped her through some things and one of the things that Selene hates is jerks. She can't stand bullies and she can't stand those that think their above her. If you want to stay her friend, then let her cool off and then tell her that you're sorry for acting like you did. And mean it, Draco, or she won't talk to you anymore."
"Is that why she's your friend?"
"We have had experiences that cemented our friendship," Hermione said. "And I won't talk about them, they're just bad."
"Muggle family?"
"No, life," Hermione answered.

"Trust Draco to act like a big, fat, jerk," Severus said when Selene told him what Draco had said.
"Typical male."
"No a typical child raised among wealth," Severus countered. "And I know what I'm talking about, I'm his godfather."
Artemis gave him a look that told him that she wasn't impressed.
"So what are you going to do?" Severus asked her.
"I want to stay his friend, but I don't like that he said what he said about Neville."
"I blame his grandmother for how the child is turning out," Severus said. "Frank and Alice Longbottom were good friends of the Potter's. Frank was an excellent Auror, tried to catch me a couple of times."
"And you used your horrible death stare to scare him."
"No, I'm leaving that for Tom," Severus countered. "Anyway, Longbottom could use a friend to help him out. I'm sure that he's having trouble in Gryffindor."
"He doesn't act like the other males," Artemis said.
"He's got a good heart," Severus told her. "His parents would be proud."
And Selene believed him when he said that.

Albus Dumbledore decided, at that moment, that killing Minerva McGonagall should be declared legal in Britain, Ireland, and Scotland. She was going on and on about that 'horrible' Selene Potter and her nasty little friends. The other teachers were glaring at her, including Quirrell. He figured that Voldemort was getting as tired of her as he was.
"She's a filthy cheater," she said. "Going on and on about what student is doing wrong. I'm the teacher, not her."
"C-C-Could you s-s-shut u-u-up," Quirrell demanded.
"And why don't you shut up, stutter boy."
"Is that even a real insult?" Sprout asked.
"No," Quirrell answered.
"I want her to get detention?"
"And why?" Flitwick said.
"Because she's annoying."
"T-T-The old h-h-hag is annoying."
"Minerva, why are you the only one that has a problem with Miss Potter."
"One word," Quirrell said to them. "S-S-Slytherin."
She glared at Quirrell.
"Severus, is finding her to not doing anything that we should be worried about."
"Oh its Severus this, and Severus that, do you kiss his butt every morning?"
"Oh grow up, Minerva," Sprout told her. "There's nothing wrong with her and her friends stay out of trouble. Can we please move on, before I have a migraine and punch someone in the face?"
"Yes, let's continue with real business."
She glared at them all and the meeting continued.
