Pretty much just got tired of sitting on dungeon floor designs that were meant for 'The Days That Follow' so here ya go. Crack shot.

Somewhere, deep in the dungeon, a group of adventurers was bent over at the waist, heaving in air whilst they tried to catch their breath. The bitter chill in the air wasn't helping, only serving to sting at their lungs and throat as they tried to recover.

It shouldn't have been this hard! They were first-class adventurers! (Save a few.) They shouldn't be this out of breath because of some monster. Then again, that hadn't just been some monster. Had it?

Finn, prioritizing the mission, sucked in one last gulp of air before straightening his back and looking out over his small party. His face was beat red, whether from the marathon they just finished, the cold air, or the way Tiona had been fondling him, the world may never know. "Welcome," he devolved into a coughing fit. Grimacing, he hacked up a wad of phlegm and spit it onto the ground. It shattered against the stone outcropping they stood upon, freezing long before it reached the ground. "Welcome to the sixtieth floor. We stand at the precipice of one the world's biggest discoveries and—"

Bete wasn't having any of it.

"I'm sorry but is nobody going to talk about what just happened?"

Bete was also promptly ignored.

"As I was saying, we stand at the cusp of greatness! Hold hope in your hearts and—"

"A mammoth! As big as a fucking neighborhood and nobody is going to bring it up?"

"—stand firm in your resolve to reach up and—"

"It destroyed a quarter of the floor! A quarter! Just by running!"

"—take what is yours! The glory of this expedition will go to all of you, who have bravely achieved—"

"It nearly outran us! Us! The thing weighed enough to cause an earthquake with every step and it nearly outran us! How are none of you talking about this!"

"—what none before you have done! Remember—"

"And don't even get me started on those tusks. How much do you think those weighed. Shit, we could probably put poachers in the Israfan out of business with just one of them!"

"—our mission! This land beyond, it is uncharted territory, things never before—"

"I mean did you see the point on those things!? Fuck, fuck, fuck! How are they so sharp!? Is it intentionally sharpening them? Is that is? Is that wooly fucker honing its tusks like they're weapons?"

"—seen by our brothers and sisters before us. Stay vigilant, expect the unexpected. Raul, Aki, Lulune, you're all on mapping duty, stay in the center and stay out of the way—"

"I don't get how nobody is talking about the mammoth! What happened to that spirit bitch? She was there last time! That floor wasn't even mammoth territory! It was a jungle, not a tundra! And weren't those ugly bastards extinct or did I dream that up too? Fuck! How are you all so calm?"

Finn sighed and pinched his nose, giving up on ignoring Bete's rather inane rant. "Yes, Bete, we get it. Big elephant, thank you. I understand. I won't put you in the exploration party next time, I had thought you a wolf, but it appears I was mistaken."

"And what in the hell does that mean!?"

The werewolf was, once again, ignored. Yes, they got it, the fifty-ninth floor was world's different from what it had been like last time. Big whoop. The demi-spirit was dead and gone, of course, the floor was going to change. Sure, Finn hadn't expected that. But in his defense, he doubted that was something anybody could predict. Not even his thumb would have throbbed if he had, on a whim, thought 'hey, maybe the fifty-ninth floor will become some kind of bullshit Spirit Oasis full of plant monsters and a. Giant. Fucking. Mammoth.'

Either some archaeologist royally screwed the pooch when writing how big mammoths had been in the past or that mammoth in particular was big.

He was leaning towards the latter.

He didn't put much stock in the intelligence of others, but he felt like even that was something an idiot couldn't miss.

Gods, he still felt the quake of the floor as it ran.

How did it get that big?

If the captain had to guess, he would assume the 'wooly fucker,' as Bete had so eloquently put it, migrated from the glacial floors. But they could see the mammoth from the moment they entered the fifty-ninth, it had towered over the already massive trees. The sixtieth was nearly barren, just looking out over it now from his perch he could see much farther, and yet no mammoths. How odd.

So, either that mammoth was some kind of floor boss or it had actually grown larger. Finn found it hard to believe the dungeon would randomly generate a new Monster Rex, there was no precedent for it in the entire history of humanity. Which left the 'got bigger' theory.

But how?

More nutrients? Was it a possible enhanced? Not even the blood-stained troll had instilled that level of dread in his heart. Bete had a right to be terrified, Finn was certain his instincts were going haywire in its presence. There was just something about it that screamed 'insurmountable.' Perhaps it was by the nature of the thing having feet large enough to crush a city block. Or perhaps it has something different enriching it? Excelia, perhaps?

His thumb twitched and the pallum grimaced. Excelia then. It wasn't a difficult theory to believe, he imagined the death of the demi-spirit had left a great deal of it behind.

A screech in the distance cut off any further pondering, the rest of the party immediately shifted into formation behind him. Thoughts on the fifty-ninth would have to be pushed off for later, now was for the exploration of the sixtieth. The newest frontier.

"Let's go."

"Woah.. what is it?"

Finn bit back a sigh as his head fell into his hands.

"Tiona, for the love of Phiona, back away from the unknown monster!"

"But it's pretty!"

Vaguely! It looked like a floating ball of ice with a tail, that's all! It was a little wispy around the edge but that was it!

"Damnit, Tiona!"

"Can I at least name it?"

Was this what Riveria felt like whenever she got a headache? Good gods, it felt like he was taking children on a field trip. Had their executives always been this scatterbrained?

"Fine, fine! If you back away from the 'pretty monster' you can name it! Just get back into formation!"

"Yay!"

The pallum groaned. At least she was happy.

"I'm going to name her.. Snowflake!"

Finn did actually sigh that time, there was no escaping it. He was surrounded by idiots. "That's—that's great, Tiona. Raul, please mark it down as," another sigh and Finn rubbed his forehead, "as 'Snowflake."

"Right away, capt—"

"No, wait!"

"What, what, what, Tiona? What could it possibly be now?"

"I changed my mind."

"For the love of— what do you want to call it now?"

"Gerald."

"Gerald?"

"Yeah, he seems like a Gerald."

"You just call it a 'her' not twenty seconds ago."

"Well, duh, captain! That was Snowflake! This is Gerald."

".. "

The Amazon tapped her chin in thought as the rest of the party instinctively took a step back.

".. now what should I call all of their friends?"

"Tiona.. back away from the horde of monsters, please."

He needs a fucking drink.

"Can I name this one, captain?"

He really didn't give a damn, but okay.

"Great! Thanks, captain."

Yeah, yeah. Knock yourself out Lefiya.

He was too tired for this.

The elf stepped out in front of the group, one of her gloved hands cupping her chin as she stared at the rapidly approaching flying monster. It had wings. Big wings. And a tail. A long tail. In fact, it looked like a dragon. Perhaps it was similar to the Valgang Dragons two floors up? Hm. How did the prior adventurers come up with that? Valgang. It was a funny word. She tried it out on her tongue. "Val-gang. Val-gang." Yep. Funny word. What did it mean?

She turned around. "Hey, Aiz?"

"Yes, Lefiya?"

"Where do you think the Valgang Dragons get their name?"

The golden-haired swordswoman pondered this and eventually came up with the most likely answer. "From their parents, I guess. Same as you and I." It only made sense. People call her Aiz because that's what her mother and father called her. Obviously, everybody called Valgang Dragons Valgang Dragons because that's what their parents called them.

In the center of the party, Finn was getting close to an ulcer.

Lefiya hummed and turned back to face the horizon.

The monster was noticeably closer. Good. That's good. It would help her artistic process if she could talk to the monster. How else was she supposed to ask its name!

"Hey! Mister Dragon!"

It roared in response, shaking the snow they stood atop and sending cracks splintering through the icy lake in the distance.

"Yeah! Hi! It's really nice to meet you! Can you tell me your name? I'd really like to know it!"

Another roar.

"Oh my! Where are my manners? I'm Lefiya! Lefiya Viridis! And you are?"

Yet another roar.

"Aha! Captain! I shall be naming this species 'AuOauaAauaoAAUAOAOUuaoAueOAAAUAUuaOAUOR!'"

And there's the ulcer.

"Now this is more like it! Captain, my love! Permission to be engaged to you?"

"Denied."

Tione pouted. She was almost positive she would have gotten him that time!

"Fine! Permission to engage the enemy and name it?"

"Don't care. Just go."

"Yay! I love you!"

Finn merely sighed and when Tione came back to inform him she'd decided to name the living corpse after him he wasn't even phased. Because why not. Sure, the legend of the Draugrs existed. It wasn't that hard to believe. Somebody in the past probably had seen one before, there was once a time where monsters reigned supreme on the surface. Why, exactly, Tione wouldn't just give it the name it already had, he'd never know.

But sure, Finnions, why not. It certainly beats out Aiz's 'I want to pet that can I pet that' or 'IWTPTCAIPT' for short. Don't even bother asking him how it's pronounced. All that matters was it's a big cat with even bigger teeth. He was pretty sure it was a sabertooth tiger, but who the fuck was he to say what it's called. Obviously, it's a iwtptcaipt. If you disagree, you have to deal with her temper tantrum. The girl will sulk and as much as Finn was glad for Bell Cranel forcing some emotion out of the girl, he could do without the sulking.

"Say, captain?"

Finn turned and almost collapsed with relief when he realized it was Gareth beside him.

"Yes?"

"Have ye named the biggin' from 'las floor yet?"

Oh. There was the worry. Right back where it should be, like a dagger through the heart.

"No.. why?"

"I wanna crack at it!"

This may as well happen.

Finn sighed and waved Raul over. The level four had been in charge of charting all the information they could gather on the new monsters, while Aki and Lulune were both focused on terrain descriptions and mapping respectively. Finn was only mildly concerned that Lulune's reporting to Hermes of how the expedition went would lead to them losing a valuable ally. It's not like he could blame them at this point.

"And what, exactly, do you want to name the mammoth?"

"Babar!"

"Babar?"

The dwarf nodded gruffly. "Babar."

"Like.. "

"Like tha book tha wee lil' laddies read, yessir."

"Why?"

"Why not? He's king o' tha elephants, is he noh?"

".. he is."

"Seems fittin'!"

Fuck it. Why not. Name the terrifying pseudo-floor boss after a children's book character. That's about par for the course today.

"Captain Finn?"

End me.

"Just Raul?"

"Can I name this one, sir?"

He sighed and waved the boy on.

"I was thinking 'Frost Giant.'"

There was not a day that went by where Finn had loved Raul more than he had in that very moment.

"Yes, yes! Thank you, Raul! I knew you were the right choice to succeed me!"

It was so simple! So intuitive! It was a giant! It breathed frost! Frost. Giant. Not Babar. Not iwtptcaipt. Not finnions. No whatever infernal sound Lefiya made. Just Frost Giant.

It was like a breath of fresh air.

Finn had never been happier.

"Awww! Gareth! Look! They have little mini Babars here!"

And just like that, his moment of peace was broken.

He was about three seconds from Hell Finegas and abandoning all rational thought. Certainly, that would save him from this misery.

Excerpt from the Adventurer's Almanac, Floor Fifty-Nine; dubbed Spirit Oasis

The floor was originally part of the glacial region that continues on from the sixtieth floor. The creation of the Demi Spirit and her subsequent defeat at the hands of the Loki familia caused a significant influx of excelia in the floor's atmosphere. The excelia was taken in by the plant life of the floor, animating the inanimate and causing the floor itself to fight back against adventures. The excess excelia in the air is responsible for the supercharging of monsters and adventurers alike – boosting strength, speed, and magical attacks. In the time since the last expedition, multiple new species of 'monster' have been born within this floor.

The titan alm is a carnivorous and cannibalistic vine-like creature that spreads throughout the jungles that make up the floor. They are unable to see in the traditional sense, however, their tactile sense has been enhanced to the extreme and they can accurately sense any adventurer foolish enough to touch one. Their favored attack is to constrict their foes in their vines before dragging them away to feed.

The pagida resemble the much smaller Venus fly traps of the surface. Similarly, to the titan alm, these plants exhibit a high degree of tactile sensation based in their roots. Even light footfalls on the ground above their roots is enough for the pagida to sense. It is limited significantly by the reach of its neck and head, so as long as you skirt around the perimeter of the Pagida's range to avoid alerting them they will not attack.

The venenthes are a species first discovered on the 18th floor outside of the entrance to Knossos. This pitcher-type plant contains a pitfall-like entrance wherein adventurers who are caught unawares will be trapped. This species has been classified under 'trap' in the guild's records alongside the 'bloody hive' and 'dark fungi' of the middle levels. Its main body exists inside the pit, behind the flap. It is capable of attacking via soundwaves similar to sirens. The monster has been known to exhibit some degree of sentience and reacts negatively toward the gathering of magical energy.

The ent is a newly discovered species that exists only within the Spirit Oasis. The few trees that remained after the battle against the demi-spirit were exposed to the largest concentration of excelia compared to those that grew as the dungeon healed. These trees have displayed the highest degree of sentience of any of the floor's monsters, going so far as achieving autonomy and mobility. Though they are mostly harmless, they act as the 'shepherds of the forest.' Any damage to the plant life will be accompanied by the risk of grievous bodily harm should the Ents now.

It is believed that sometime prior to the creation, and after the destruction, of the demi-spirit a mammoth from the glacial region survived the initial terraforming of the floor. It is unknown whether this information is accurate, exploration of floors beyond will provide confirmation. With the influx of excelia into its system, the monster grew to truly embody its former name, mammoth. The colossal creature was christened the 'King of Elephants: Babar' after the subject of a popular nursery rhyme. Beware, Babar is very large, very mean, and very territorial. The full extent of its abilities is unknown but it has been witnessed that he is capable of uprooting large areas of the forest without repercussion by the Ents. Male elephants native to the savannahs northwest of the Kaios desert have been shown to exhibit heightened aggression during musth, a period commonly brought on by winter. Advised plan of action: avoidance, keep away from the entrance to glacial floors if possible, drop in temperature may trigger the start of musth period.

Excerpt from the Adventurer's Almanac, Floors Sixty through Sixty-Two; dubbed Jotunheimr

Following initial exploration by the Loki familia under the lead of second captain Finn 'Braver' Diemne, the floor is designated a 'glacial zone.' Confirming past reports from the Zeus and Hera familias. The area is largely flat with occasional lakes that are frozen over. The ice has been noted to crack with loud noises, proceed with caution.

First intelligence show six prominent monster species, it is unknown if more currently reside there or not.

First, simply termed the 'wisp,' this icy monster is a floating sprite known to inflict harsh frostbite on users who get too close. See related drawings in references. The monster is small and quick, the magic crystals dropped are similarly small but potent. The easiest means of killing is magic directed toward the main attack. By nature of its body, this monster is particularly difficult to hit with physical attacks. Recommended use of large-scale fire magic similar to Nine Hells's Rea Laevateinn.

Second, the 'Frost Wyrm,' formerly known as 'AuOauaAauaoAAUAOAOUuaoAueOAAAUAUuaOAUOR!' this monster is a dragon with icy breath. Spawn rates appear low at this time but be advised only a small portion of the floor was explored. Proceed with caution.

Third, 'Draugr,' formerly known as 'finnions.' You all know the legends, it's not our job to make sure you remember them.

Fourth, 'iwtptcaipt.' Just 'iwtptcaipt.' See: sabretooth tiger for more related information.

Fifth, Frost Giant. It's frosty and it's giant. What more of a description do you need? Don't get caught in its breath and don't get stepped on. It's really not 'mystery' at work here, it shouldn't be difficult to understand. You survived this long, surely you can understand how this works.

Last, mammoth. Seriously. Just a mammoth. It's a wooly elephant. We've all heard of them before. Half this floor is just species we thought were extinct animals but are actually just monsters, you shouldn't need an explanation.
