More Life,
Harry gaped like a fish at Bellatrix for a few moments, the surprise absolutely getting to him, even his occlumency shields had no hope against the surprise in front of him. Harry was uncertain whether or not to pull out his wand or duck behind the nearest table. Now he knew why Cedric was acting so smug.
This was the person who killed Sirius in his past life, she was the one who pushed him through the veil of Death. She was an absolute psychopath, yet a talented duelist, how was she a professor at Hogwarts? Harry took a good look at her again, she looked nothing like what she used to be. She was devastatingly beautiful, not to say she wasn't hot in his past life but she certainly was crazy. Now, she was all put together, her hair was done nicely in an updo, her makeup was light and accented her eyes and lips, her teeth weren't dirty, but sparkling white and she had a much fuller face, no longer was it gaunt or haunted like it was before because of her trip to Azkaban. Clearly, she was different in this life.
"Hello? Harry?" Bellatrix said, "you've been staring at me for an awkward amount of time now."
Harry shook himself out of his daze, "I'm so sorry professor, you just…. Reminded me of someone I used to know."
Bellatrix's eyebrows furrowed, she eyed the scars on his face. "I remind you of someone from your past?"
Harry nodded, he was still rather grasping the situation, Bellatrix was a cold hearted killer in his previous life, she was feared and violent and no one wanted to cross her path. Here, she was a professor, who frankly looked fucking hot. It was weird how attracted Harry was to her considering who she was.
Slowly nodding, Harry looked at her again, "yeah," he looked her up and down, "sorry but it really shocked me."
Bellatrix looked suspicious but she nodded easily, "that is quite alright." she said sweetly, "we all get senses of deja vu sometimes." her smile was disarming considering it felt so foreign to Harry. She had a very understanding look on her face, and it dawned on Harry that she must think that someone from his violent past looked like her, so she was being intentionally disarming. It was rather endearing.
"This was a weird way to introduce myself," Harry said with a small smile, "but I am happy that Cassandra had me do it, you're a Black, correct?"
"I am a Lestrange." she said plainly. There was a bit of malice in her words, it felt like there was bad blood between her and the Black family.
"Originally Black?" Harry asked curiously, Bellatrix seemed to hesitate a little bit so Harry spoke up again, "Look, I have no idea about this family, I have no idea about the history of what happened between you and the family, I've never had a family and I am trying to get to know the people within mine."
Bellatrix seemed to soften a little bit at that, her shoulders deflated a little bit and the mask she wore slipped. It felt very strange to Harry that these people were considered his family, especially because he was Harry Potter the last of the Light in his previous life, while here he was Harry Black, the lone Black heir. They were only his family in status, not by relation nor by choice.
"I appreciate it very much Harry, but this topic is not for here and now, I have an office we can meet. There, we can discuss everything that happened in the Black family, as well as how you are my idiot brother's lost son and the heir." Bellatrix replied, her voice remained steady but it was rather clear that she had some dislike for Sirius.
"That sounds great." Harry replied, "I do have one last question, If I may ask?"
Bellatrix nodded, her body language welcoming, "your surname is Lestrange, so I assume you are married?"
For the first time, Bellatrix looked like a shadow of what Harry knew her to be. Her smile was slightly malicious, "Ah, well, my husband unfortunately passed on."
Harry slowly nodded, "okay," he said slowly, there was much more to the story than that. "Uhm, Where is your office and can we meet after classes tomorrow?"
Bellatrix smiled charmingly, "Of course, I will put the tea on. My Office is in the third floor hallway, have some of the portraits guide you."
Harry returned her smile, "alright, i'll see you tomorrow." Bellatrix's smile did not falter, and Harry turned to walk back to the tables. Cassandra had left as he spoke to Bellatrix but Cedric was waiting for him at the Slytherin table, which had gotten significantly busier.
Harry sat across from Cedric, and gave him a kick on the shins, "a little warning would have been nice."
Cedric smirked, "your reaction was gold."
"How did her husband die?" Harry asked.
Cedric shrugged, "mysteriously."
Harry looked at him dryly, "no, seriously?"
Cedric returned his dry look, "I'm being serious, no one really knows."
There were too many people around them for the conversation to continue so Harry let it rest. He was still rather thrown off about the whole thing. Bellaxtrix Lestrange, One of Voldemort's most lethal servants, was now a professor, who was fucking hot. The entire idea around it struggled to make sense in Harry's brain.
Harry made himself a plate, and began to eat, making sure to eat a lot to energize himself after their morning workout. Harry was lost in thought when Snape came by, he was handing out class schedules to all of the snakes.
"Black," he said in his deep baritone, "I suggest you have your classmates catch you up on your classes. I expect no slacking."
Harry simply nodded, he needed to remember that in this life Snape had no feelings towards him, Lily was not his Mother here.
Looking at his schedule, Harry noticed that he had Defence against the Dark Arts with the Ravenclaws first period. Harry was uncertain how to feel knowing he was going to be seeing Hermione again, but also to be taught by Remus again.
Harry hoped that Remus would be using the Boggart again, he was actually rather curious to see what he was afraid of in this new life. Obviously, Voldemort's return but Harry was not exactly scared of Voldemort himself anymore, he had done everything possible to get Harry to break and was unable to. Harry knew magically he was Voldemort's equal, but it still felt rather inconsequential that he no longer feared the Dark Lord.
That was also something that Harry had noticed, in his past life, he felt the age that he was. When he was 70 and sleeping on forest floors, hiding from Voldemort and his goons, he felt that age. In this 16 year old body, he once again felt 16, and everything that came with being 16. He felt more immature, he felt more inexperienced, his cock would harden if he would even begin to think about something sexual, it was an odd phenomenon, but something he did not expect. He would need to ask Cedric about it when the two of them were alone.
After heading back to the dorm, showering and getting ready for class, Harry was preparing for a boring day of shit he had already done and learnt hundreds of times before. He was walking alongside Cedric, the pair of them remained silent as they walked, it felt very normal that Cedric was beside Harry, they got familiar very quickly and there was a devoted loyalty to each other based on the events that dragged them to each other. Harry had seen Cedric die, even participated in it, yet here he was, walking by his side, the two of them working to destroy the Dark Lord who had killed him.
They arrived at the classroom to find some students waiting outside. Hermione was first in line to enter the class, her impatience to learn showing. Cho Chang stood beside her, the two quietly conversing. Hermione shifted her weight from side to side, and it made Harry smile, it was a habit she had from his previous life, she would bounce back and forth when her impatience would get to her.
Harry and Cedric were the first of the Snakes to arrive, but the rest of their year quickly followed up, Draco leading his minions right up beside them. "Black!" He called out, causing Harry to roll his eyes and look towards the Malfoy.
"Stay away from my sister!" He said threateningly. As usual with Draco he would yell and threaten, but there was nothing behind it.
"Draco, under no fucking circumstances do you or your little dweebs frighten me." Harry said, nodding at Crabbe, Goyle and Parkinson. "Aren't you supposed to follow the dumb rules Drake set out for us? No conflict in front of other houses?"
Draco did not give up, "you should be afraid of me! My Father will scorn yours, we will make House Black a joke!"
Harry snorted, "you do realize that if you do that, you will be dishonouring yourself and your Mother, right? You're both under the Black family tree,"
Blaise then stepped between the both of them, "Draco, shut up. You should know better than to have a conflict in the halls. Snakes stick together, remember?"
Draco was still fuming but he relented, he cracked his knuckles in what he must have thought was a menacing way but it looked pathetic to Harry.
Harry took his wand out and spun it around in his hand, "anytime Draco, you pick the time and place."
Draco smiled menacingly, "training room after classes today."
Harry nodded, knowing he would kick Draco's ass, he actually looked forward to it.
Remus then made his presence known, unlocking the classroom and letting the students in. "Welcome, welcome, welcome," he said kindly.
He waited until everyone had gathered before he began speaking.
"My name is Professor Lupin and as you know this is Defence Against the Dark Arts."
Harry smiled, Remus was a good professor for the one year Harry learned from him, seeing him do this again brought back some good memories.
Remus went through the regular Professor first day nonsense, textbooks, questioning the students knowledge, expectations, the regular shit.
It was when he pulled out his cupboard did Harry give a small smile. "Now, I need a volunteer!" Remus called out, and immediately Hermione's hand shot up. Harry smiled, but was wary at the same time, he didn't know what Hermione's boggart would be.
Hermione stood quickly, and Remus had her stand in front of the cupboard. "This here is a Boggart, do you know what that is Ms. Granger?" He asked.
Hermione nodded quickly, and she spoke, "a Boggart shows the person in front of it what their greatest fear is. That's what makes it so terrifying."
"Correct! 5 points for Ravenclaw." Remus followed up with.
"I want everyone here to watch, this is an example of Dark Magic, Dark Magic will expose your weaknesses and your fears. We will be working on how to defend yourself from these things." Professor Lupin said. "The spell I need you to cast Hermione is riddikulus, by casting this spell, it will make the Boggart appear harmless through laughter. You will make it into something it is not, disarming your fear."
"Are you ready?" Remus questioned softly.
Hermione nodded and put on a brave face, it was one Harry had seen thousands of times. She was originally a Gryffindor after all.
The Boggart appeared and immediately began to shift, Hermione stared at it determinedly, but stepped back a little bit when it began to take shape, Professor McGonagall appeared, she had a huge stack of papers in her hand, and she handed each of them in Hermione's direction, all of them with the word 'FAIL' in massive red letters.
Hermione's face pinched in determination "riddikulus!" McGonagall all of a sudden had a clown outfit on, and started dancing incredibly goofily, kicking her legs up and down as she smiled bright. The whole class started laughing, and Harry watched as Hermione's face turned to relief. It was cool to see again, and gave him such good and bad memories at the same time.
"Fantastic Ms. Granger! Well Done!" he said, praising Hermione's spell, making her smile. "Now, all of you line up in a single file line, this is a bit of a test for all of you, I wish to see you all cast the Riddikulus and face your biggest fear." Professor Lupin finished. Some students were wary, but others jumped first into line, Draco being first in line.
Harry stepped towards the end of the line with Cedric, making sure he was able to see the front, he was rather curious to see what Draco's biggest fear would be. "Alright, Mr. Malfoy, remember, laughter is what dispels the Boggart, use Riddikulus to make it something to laugh about."
Draco nodded, "Thank you Professor, but I'm sure I'll be fine." he said rather arrogantly. Lupin shrugged and then opened the shaking cupboard again. Once again, the Boggart came flying out, and took a shape, Lucius Malfoy appeared with Narcissa standing behind him, Narcissa was gently crying as Lucius was ferociously berating Draco. Narcissa looked incredibly disappointed while Lucius looked angry.
Draco shuddered, and then quietly cast the spell, "Riddikulus!" causing his Father to grow horns and moo, and his Mother to start juggling bowling pins. The class laughed, but it gave Harry quite the insight of Draco's inner self. He was scared of disappointment, scared of disappointing his parents. It was clear that Lucius moulded him to be a Death Eater, as he feared disappointing his Fathers wishes.
Draco looked rather shook, but composed himself properly, standing off to the side and actually being quiet for once. The next few students went up, with none of their Boggarts being anything of note, acromantulas, the dark, heights, but it was when Daphne went up did Harry take more notice.
Daphne's Boggart looked like a younger version of herself, the same blonde hair and blue eyes, but just younger, smaller. The girl had hands grabbing her, fear on her face, as she cried and yelled silently while she was pulled away from Daphne. Daphne reacted immediately, with no hesitation she cast the quickest Riddikulus she could, which made the scene turn into a line of cha cha dancers, all of them dressed in dresses.
Daphne kept her mask on, her face remaining guarded, but the clenching of her jaw showed the anger she felt at seeing the scene. Cedric leaned over to Harry and whispered, "Astoria." Surprised, Harry looked at Cedric with a raised eyebrow who simply nodded. Well, that made more sense now, Daphne's biggest fear was her sister being taken away from her. That made Harry wonder what her home life was like if she felt she was solely responsible for caring for her baby sister.
Daphne's impassiveness was impressive, it hardly looked like she was fazed at all by her biggest fear, only if you were paying close attention you would notice her tells.
Tracey went next, her boggart turned into a wedding ceremony, where she was marrying a walking dead man. Harry was rather stunned by that, a walking dead man? Her biggest fear was being forced to marry a Death Eater? Actually, that rather made sense, Tracey was a Davis, she was a half blood, it would be very likely that an arranged marriage would happen, where she would be sold off to a pureblooded second son.
Harry rather hated that system, after the war happened none of that really mattered to him, but in this life, if he had an opportunity to even try and change things he would. Tracey's boggart diminished in the laughter, and she had clenched fists and an angry look on her face, she wasn't nearly as good at keeping her face neutral as Daphne was.
The next person of any interest to Harry that went was Theodore Nott, Theo's Boggart quickly shifted into a massive mountain troll wielding a big tree branch as a club. Theo jumped back in fright, before he cast his Riddikulus which turned the troll into a dwarf with a santa hat on. That was a little bit disappointing as he wished that he could at least have some type of information about the future Death Eater but that was nothing of note.
Next, was Blaise, Blaise went up without any fear at all, Lupin raised an eyebrow at him, "you look comfortable." he said.
Blaise shrugged, "I know what my greatest fear is."
Harry looked at Cedric with an eyebrow raised, and Cedric smirked, "you never heard about his Mum?"
Harry shook his head and watched as Blaise's boggart shaped into an absolutely beautiful woman who must have been his Mother. The lady had a long line of men next to her, she would lean in and kiss one, and then the other would move forward, going through a never ending line of men. Harry internally cringed, Blaise's biggest fear was his Mothers infidelity, he was probably teased relentlessly for it. Blaise rolled his eyes and cast Riddikulus, dispelling the boggart again.
Draco spoke up from next to Blaise, "when's my turn in that line, Blaise?" he said arrogantly.
Blaise gave Draco the middle finger and Lupin quickly spoke up, "Hey! 10 points from Slytherin for both of your bad behaviour! Any more disrespect in my classroom and I'll take away 30!"
The two boys settled down, and then it was Harry and Cedric's turn, Harry gestured for Cedric to go first and Cedric took the step forward. Knowing that Cedric had probably had this same lesson multiple times now, Harry wondered what Cedric's Boggart would actually be. The Boggart popped out of the cupboard again and Cedric barely even shifted his weight, his Boggart turned into a younger version of him that grew very old, only for it to reset, again and again and again.
Cedric rolled his eyes, then lazily cast the riddikulus, turning the Boggart so that it had 20 foot long arms and legs and failed to walk. The laughter once again dispelled it, and Cedric shook his head at Harry as he moved to the side.
Harry stepped up, and was starting to get a little bit anxious now that he was standing in front of it. He didn't want his greatest fear to expose himself too much, or give any ideas to his Slytherin classmates. He knew he could absolutely obliterate all of them, but he didn't want them to have anything to hold over his head.
Boggart popped out of the cupboard and floated around for a few moments. It took a lot longer for it to take a shape then his other classmates, but when it did it created a scene. Harry was back in the forest, no sleeping bags, barely any clothing, and clearly shivering. He was far away, with multiple trees, bushes and roots in the clearing but Harry was extremely visible. Harry looked at the Boggart sadly, this was something he was definitely afraid of and something he feared, but there was a renewed hope in the future that this life would prevent that from happening.
Harry was more sad just looking at the Boggart, looking at his future self, just completely alone on the forest floor again. His life was so sad for what it turned out to be. Scarred, scared, completely alone, it was a sad, sad, scene.
Lupin spoke from next to him, "Mr. Black?" he asked, Harry turned from the scene to look at the professor, "you've been staring at the Boggart for rather long. If you do not think you can cast the riddikulus it is okay."
Harry just remained sad, he stared at the scene for a few more moments before he took his wand out. "Expecto Patronum." he said quietly, easily. Expecting Prongs to appear in front of him, Harry was surprised to see that his shape had changed. Now, his Patronus was a massive direwolf, a magical beast that was the King of the wolves. It was beautiful to look at, and it jumped through the Boggart, completely dispelling it without the need for laughter.
The Patronus circled around him a few times before it butt its head directly into Harry's chest. Harry pet the big wolf a few times, noticing it was nearly of height with him when it disappeared into mist.
The entire class was silent, even Professor Lupin was stunned. Harry did not even think about what he was doing, he just cast the Patronus to defeat the Boggart. It felt second nature.
"Wow!" Professor Lupin exclaimed. "A fully developed ethereal patronus!"
Harry smiled, he then smirked at Draco, "still up for that duel later?"
Draco crossed his arms, his lips were out in a pout of some sorts. He remained silent surprisingly. Lupin continued "10 points for Slytherin if I must say, a full Patronus in third year! Wow, Mr. Black!"
Harry smiled and then moved to the side, Cedric gave him a gentle shove on the shoulder, "show off." He said teasingly.
Blaise, Theo, Daphne and Tracey approached him, they all watched as the rest of the class took their turn with the Boggart as they spoke quietly. "How the fuck can you already cast that? We don't learn the Patronus til at least 6th year." Blaise said.
Theo spoke up too, "not just that, it takes years for a Patronus to be fully developed, the fact that you can do it now, is incredible."
Harry smirked at them, "I had to learn." He wasn't exactly lying, but he was certainly withholding details.
Daphne quickly spoke up, "why did you have to learn?"
It was quite obvious she was fishing for more details, so Harry remained silent and let his scars do the talking for him. Harry just gave her a sad smile and let her come to her own conclusions.
Tracey then stepped towards him, her face was excited and her smile was bright, "you've got to teach me how to do that, I've always wanted to have my own Patronus."
Harry raised an eyebrow at the excitable blonde, "I don't have to do anything." he said easily. "I'm also not paid to teach, the professors are."
Tracey frowned, she looked over to Daphne who remained stone faced. "Come on, don't you wish to help a fellow snake?" she teased.
Harry raised an eyebrow, he huffed, "no."
Tracey's frown deepened, "what happened to House unity and helping each other out, Drake set the rules out that we have to follow."
"The rules are stupid, they are to mould us into being blindly loyal and subservient to others. I hate that." Harry replied simply.
Theodore spoke up immediately, "there's a reason for that Black, they are preparing us for the future."
Cedric spoke up next, "what future? What house enforces such rules? And harbours such a cut throat environment. Why would we want that future for ourselves?"
Theodore angered, "that is the future our parents are setting out for us. They are guiding us to be the best version of ourselves to help in our parents beliefs." he spoke passionately, angrily.
Harry looked over to Cedric who was shaking his head. "Well, good thing I don't have any parents so I can make my own mind up." Harry said. "And I think the rules are fucking stupid, and all of us should have the right to dictate our own future, not have it decided for us."
That shut Theodore up, Harry saw Blaise and Tracey smirking while Daphne still remained stone faced. Blaise spoke first, "people aren't gonna like that Black."
"And?" Harry said confidently. He was entirely comfortable challenging anyone who wished to go against him.
Blaise looked at him in disbelief, "you must be suicidal."
Cedric snorted so Harry elbowed him in the side, "for standing up for myself and what I believe in?"
Blaise nodded, "absolutely, Slytherin's don't like people who stand up to their beliefs."
Harry shrugged, "I do not care."
Daphne spoke up, her voice even, "you should care."
Harry raised an eyebrow at her, "why?"
"You are the heir and soon to be head of one of the most well respected families in Magical Britain, you hold an incredibly powerful seat on the Wizengamot and you will be looked upon by others to lead." Daphne replied, her voice was very even, but her words were true. Harry still had a hard time caring, the only thing that mattered to him was preventing Voldemort's takeover, politics could wait.
Harry simply paused and raised an eyebrow at Daphne, the two of them made eye contact for a few moments, a small staring contest, "politics are stupid." Harry said, causing Daphne to roll her eyes and Cedric to snort next to him.
Tracey spoke up again, her voice more hopeful this time, "I agree!" She said, "I hate politics."
Harry smirked at her, "just because we both hate politics does not mean I will teach you a Patronus."
Tracy shrugged, "it was worth a try." she then snickered, "should I start taking bets on this duel with Draco?"
Harry smiled, he liked the bubbly blonde, "you can if you wish, just make sure you bet on me." he said, following up with a twirl of his wand.
The classes for the rest of the day went by slowly, Harry bonded with his Housemates some more, mostly Blaise, Daphne and Tracey. Theo hung around with them but he gravitated more towards Draco's group. It made sense considering the beliefs each of them had. The classes went well though, Harry floated through any of the curriculum with expertise, not even really paying attention in half of them, more often than not he was observing his peers around him, trying to find any type of information that could be helpful in the future.
Harry was not sure where to proceed from here, he still needed to talk to Cedric some more, and find out more information about his past as well as more about his life. He could kill two birds with one stone and go to the Room of Requirement, get the diadem, and talk to Cedric in a safe place. The only problem was that he had nothing to actually destroy the diadem with. He could collect it, but he was uncertain whether or not the effects of having a horcrux nearby would be detrimental to his health.
In his other life, Voldemort had figured out that they were targeting and destroying all of his Horcruxes so he kept Nagini as far away from any type of danger possible. They had gotten 5/7 after Harry had figured out he was the 7th.
Harry looked over to Cedric, "right, we should probably speak some more."
Cedric nodded, and the pair of them walked outside past the gates towards the lake. They were completely alone so Harry felt comfortable speaking. "What do you know about Horcruxes?" Harry asked.
Cedric visibly shuddered, "disgusting dark magic that attaches a piece of a wizard's soul to an object. Tying them to life so they can never die."
Harry nodded, "good." He set a hand on Cedric's shoulder. "Voldemort has 7."
Cedric's eyes bulged out of his head, "7?!" He exclaimed.
"Yeah, I got 5 before, and the last two were his familiar Nagini, who was never seen and my scar," Harry lifted his hair off of his forehead, "which is gone, which means Hardwin Potter has it still."
Cedric groaned, "this is bullshit." He said quietly.
"I know man," Harry set an arm around his shoulders, "it's a lot to take in, but we have the advantage this time around, we can do things differently."
Cedric shook his head, "we better, I want to actually live, have a wife and kids, not be stuck at this damned school for my entire existence."
Harry nodded, he grabbed one of the flat rocks from the edge of the lake, and skipped it through the soft waves. "I have access to two Horcruxes right now, but we need Basilisk Venom to destroy them."
Cedric nodded, "okay, so we kill the basilisk again?"
Harry shrugged, "I'm more powerful now, I think that if I speak to it, it may listen."
"You wish to speak to a basilisk?" Cedric said in disbelief.
Raising an eyebrow, Harry spoke in parseltongue. "Yes, without a problem."
Cedric shivered, "that gives me the creeps."
Harry chuckled at his friend, "alright, next, we have to find Riddle's diary. Last I knew Ginny Weasley had it after Lucius slipped it to her. I destroyed it after the basilisk fight, it's possible she still has it."
"You can find out, I was never close to the Weasleys." Cedric said offhandedly before he continued, "who is Riddle? His diary is a horcrux?"
"Tom Riddle is Voldemort's real name, and yes the diary has him in it, so it replies to Ginny when she writes in it, manipulating her." Harry explained.
Cedric nodded simply, "Basilisk first then." He said, to Harry's nod.
The pair of them were interrupted by Goyle lumbering over to them. "Draco wants his duel." He said dumbly. Harry furrowed his eyebrows at the big dumb brute, he was rude and entitled, but Harry did not care. "Lead the way," Harry replied.
Goyle nodded, turned and then marched back towards the school. Harry and Cedric followed Draco's servant. "There's no way he actually thinks he is going to win." Cedric said, "he watched you perform a full Patronus today, there is no way he thinks he has a chance."
Harry snorted, "he has to have some sort of trick waiting for me. What I know about Draco is that he will do something dirty handed to win."
Cedric nodded, "I don't know too much about him, other than the fact that I know he's a little slimy snake."
Harry smirked, "I'm actually rather curious to see what he tries."
The three of them made their way back to the Slytherin common room, where almost the entirety of the House had gathered. Drake stood next to Draco at the front of the crowd. Harry raised an eyebrow and looked to the side, seeing Tracey with a notepad out, she had a small crowd around her trying to, she really was collecting bets. Harry smirked at her, her audacity was pretty funny.
Drake stepped forward, "Draco said you challenged him to a duel." he said loudly, confronting Harry.
"Yes." Harry said simply, "not that it has to do with you."
Drake spoke up again, his smile was vicious, "that's where you're wrong Black, official honour duels between Slytherin house mates include all House allies, that means Draco's allies versus yours."
Harry blinked a few times, "since when?"
Drake smirked, "since I said so."
Draco stepped forward, "not so big and tough now are you Black?"
Harry shrugged, "who are your allies?" Harry asked Draco.
Draco smiled devilishly, "Drake, All the Prefects, Goyle, Crabbe, Nott and Zabini."
"Alright then," Harry said, "let's duel."
Both Drake and Draco both looked confused, "what about your allies?" Draco said.
Harry furrowed an eyebrow, "what about them?"
Draco looked confused, "aren't you going to duel with them?"
"No, I think I'll be alright." Harry replied, he walked towards the training room, walking through Draco's group confidently. Cedric sided up to him, "are you sure about this? It's rather early on to be taking on the whole House?"
Harry smiled, "You act like establishing dominance within this House is a bad thing."
Cedric shook his head, "I think you're rushing into this, these families are Dark sided, there will be repercussions for you humiliating them."
Harry stopped to look at Cedric, "nothing we can't deal with. We need to ensure Slytherin does not breed Death Eaters."
"You're looking at this far too long term, we might not make it past the tournament." Cedric replied.
"Yes, we are you prick, and after we do, we need to ensure the future. This is doing that." Harry replied pointing to the dueling ring.
Cedric looked opposed to it but shook his head, "my hands are free, just… don't say I didn't warn you when you get a stunner in the back."
The entire house followed him into the room, with everyone trying to see over one another. Harry walked over and stood to one side of the dueling track by himself, he twirled his wand a few times and paced back and forth while Draco and all of his allies lined up. He counted and there were 9 of them in total, not one of them competent though.
Drake stepped forward, "Rules are first to disarm or first to surrender."
Harry nodded, so Drake yelled over to one of the other students who was not partaking. "Count it down!"
The guy that Harry did not know started to count down,
"3!"
"2!"
"1!"
"Begin!"
As soon as it began, Harry cast a wide spell, knocking back all of the spells flying at him while instantaneously freezing all nine opponents in place. Harry walked over to them, they were all completely still but their eyes were moving, blinking. The entire room was silent, just watching Harry's magic.
Harry strode over to the absolutely still bodies, he one by one, took each of their wands, then pushed each of them over so they all fell onto the floor completely frozen. Blaise was standing with his arms out, he didn't look like he wished to attack but had to do it because of the alliance his family had. Harry left him standing, wand still held in his hand.
"Now," Harry called out, he walked to the middle of the dueling area, making sure everyone spectating could hear him. "As you all know, my name is Harry Black." Harry looked over the crowd, he was certain the entire house was here to watch the duel. Twirling his wand in his hand, Harry paced in front of all of them, "These people here, are supposed to be the leaders of our Great House. They enforce rules which provoke negativity, prejudice and injustice. They foster an environment in these dorms that is violent for us now and in the future. They are trying to make us blindly loyal, and immediately obedient. I do not agree with these ideals."
A random guy, he was probably a 6th or 7th year, more than likely a future Death Eater called out, "that is Slytherin! You can't change it!"
Harry pointed at him, "Slytherin is not a House that should be promoting violence, especially on our own! We're known of the House of Snakes, to be cunning and sly, we should be out thinking, out maneuvering the other Houses, instead of setting unrealistic standards for ourselves." Harry paused, letting his words sink into the crowd.
"I have been here for a single day and I recognized the need for change. This is how I will make change," Harry pointed to his dueling opponents. "Either you can stand with me, or stand against me."
Harry went over and took Blaise's wand before he pushed him over, officially ending the duel. Harry unfroze all of his opponents letting them all drop to the floor. He then dropped all of their wands, before he turned and walked directly out of the room, leaving the crowd in silence.
As he walked towards his room, Harry heard footfalls behind him, Cedric was one, but two lighter ones settled behind him as well. "Wait!" Harry heard Tracey call out.
Stopping and turning to see the three of them approaching, Tracey smirked at him, "you made me a hundred galleons." she said, her smile getting wider and wider.
Harry smiled at her, "I'm surprised you still didn't bet on them considering they rigged the duel."
Tracey returned his smile, "I took your word for it, nice to know you can back up all of that confidence."
Daphne then stepped towards him, "what spell did you use? I didn't even see you move your lips."
Harry sighed, "Now, why would I give you one of my secrets?" he said coyly.
Daphne's face actually showed some expression, a hint of a small smile on her face. "Fair," she said quickly, "did you really mean what you said? I know we talked briefly about it last night, but this is going to be potentially dangerous."
"Yeah, we know," Harry gestured to Cedric, "but we're fine with it, I suggest you pick a side soon, I don't think playing neutral will be accepted by them."
Tracey raised an eyebrow at Cedric, "you? Cedric has barely spoken a word for two years. Now he's ready to stand up to the entire House, what changed?"
Cedric was leaning against the wall, just pointed a finger at Harry, "him."
Tracey shook her head while Daphne had her expressionless mask on again. "That's a lot of loyalty to someone you don't know much about." Daphne said, skepticism filling her voice.
Cedric just remained silent, he knew he did not need to justify his behaviour to them. So, Harry spoke up, "Either way, what I did tonight will not go unchallenged, so if the two of you wish to keep your distance for a while then so be it, but I suggest you make a decision soon."
Daphne spoke again, her voice extremely even, "is everyone getting this option?"
Harry shrugged, "the ones who I believe are worth a chance."
Daphne nodded so Tracey spoke up again, "you sure you can't teach me the patronus?" she said playfully.
Harry smirked, "I just told you to keep your distance."
Tracey snorted, "never really been my style."
Harry took a moment to think about it, spending more time with Tracey would be no hardship, she was hot, and he had taught the Patronus hundreds of times before, "i'll teach you, on one condition." he said
Tracey's eyes widened, her lips split into a big smile, "anything! I promise!"
Harry smiled at her enthusiasm, "I need information, anything you find out from anyone in Hogwarts, professors, students, portraits, anything, I need you to tell me."
Tracey's smile widened, "done," she said quickly, she squealed and hugged Daphne, "I'm going to learn the Patronus!"
Daphne smiled at Tracey, an actual legitimate smile, it was nice to see, but it seemed that it was only reserved for her friend. Tracey spoke up again, "Can you cast it again? I want to see your form." She was so excited and Harry found it to be so cute that he couldn't deny her.
"Expecto Patronus." Once again, the massive wolf came out of his wand, it jumped around a few times before it settled next to him, sniffing the air as it sat down. Harry looked fondly down at it, the wolf staring at the trio in front of him. Tracey had a look of awe in her face, while Daphne's was quite impressed, and Cedric was just shaking his head with a small smile.
Harry looked at the three of them and then looked down, what a strange first day.
