After the party, Mor and Emirie led the two of them into one of the multiple rooms in the house. "So here we are. This is your bedroom." Emirie said to them.
Cassian must admit, the room was quite spacefull. The wooden walls and floors made it look rustical. Could be the same about the bed with multiple sets of white and cream colored pillows and sheets.
"Wow." Was all Cassian could say.
"Wow, this is beautiful." Nesta, on the other hand, was slightly impressed. How she kept a forced yet awkward smile on her lips was beyond him. She then faced the window with the forest and mountain view. "And the view." She almost grimaced when she saw the big bed, taking Cassian a lot of effort to not chuckle at her reaction. She slightly ran her fingers on the soft sheets as he looked away. He was not going to let his mind go wild. "Wow! Exquisite bed. Exquisite. So…" She paused before clearing her voice. Where is Cassian's room?"
Mor gave a wicked grin. "We're not under any illusions that you two don't sleep in the same bed. He'll sleep in here with you, obviously!" She said while taking a sip from her wine.
Cassian smirked and replied. "Oh, great, 'cause we love to snuggle. Don't we, honey?" He slightly nudged her shoulder. "We're huge snugglers."
Nesta was about to give him a piece of her mind when a white little beast ran and jumped up her legs, startling her. "Oh, my God! What is it?!" She almost stumbled as she held Cassian's shoulder. He knelt down with a small chuckle and picked up the small pup.
"Calm down, Housel." Emerie chuckled.
"You are cute!" Cassian sand as the pup gave his face happy kisses. "Who is this?" He asked.
"That's Housel. I'm sorry, Nesta. He can be a little overjoyed." Emerie apologized. We just rescued him from the pound, and he's still in training. Sorry."
"Just be sure you don't let him outside, or the eagles will snatch him." Mor said, a little concerned.
Cassian on the other hand started to use the baby voice with Housel. "No, don't you listen to her. She's just pulling your leg, isn't she?" He rubbed the little pup's side while it gave a happy yawn. Nesta seemed a little disgusted, if not, startled and took a step back.
Emerie signaled Nesta to come with her and went to open the closet doors. "By the way, there are extra towels and linens and things in here if you need them-" She tried to say when a book fell out. It had a black cover with two really… interesting… silhouettes in a very intimate position. "Shit!" She slightly flushed and hid the cover from sight.
Nesta took a quick glance, Mor and Cassian distracted with Housel, before whispering to Emerie. "Mind if I read it?" To her surprise, Emerie gaped before her face lighted up, handing the book to her.
"We should read together someday." Emerie suggested and Nesta smiled widely.
"I think me and my best friend Gwyn will most certainly love to join you on this little detail." She said as the two chuckled. Mor suddenly tapped Nesta's shoulder before giving her a box. She heard Cassian mumbling something about him being spared or something.
Mor gave him a glare before grinning at Nesta. "If you are bored tonight, use this. It has special powers." She said. Emerie then mumbled for her to be spared.
"Oh, what kind of special powers?" Nesta asked, regretting instantly when Mor had answered.
"I call it the Baby Maker." Mor gave a wicked grin. Nesta's eyes went wide open, face flushing red.
"OK! Well. Then I guess we…" She took the box before glaring at Cassian. Just like her, he had slightly wide eyes but his face was probably flushed on a darker red. "Uh… gonna be super careful with that…Yeah, I'm gonna…" She tried to say but He took the box and chucked the box on the bed. "Don't throw it on the-" Nesta tried to argue.
Emerie held Housel. "We'd better turn in." Mor held Emerie's arm. "It's been quite an evening. So good night, everybody." She waved before leaving with her.
"Good night." Both Cassian and Nesta smiled as they left. Once the door closed behind them, they let out a heavy sigh.
Nesta took one glance at the bed then was going to tell Cassian something before he cut her off.
"I'll get some sheets and I'll sleep on the floor." He said and went to the closet. Nesta, for some reason beyond her, felt goddamned stupid.
After a while of setting himself on the floor, he laid down and covered himself. He took the chance to change into a black top matching sweatpants while Nesta was in the shower. He heard her clear her voice.
"So, you haven't been home in a while." She comment. Cassian just rolled his eyes with a sigh.
"In my defense." He started. "I haven't had a lot of vacation time in the last three years."
Nesta scoffed. "Stop complaining." She said. Cassian imitated her words with his hand. He then heard her voice tremble a little. "Don't look, ok?"
"Ok." Cassian just stared up, obviously not obliging on what she asked him to.
Nesta poked her head out of the bathroom, using the door to cover her body. "Are your eyes closed?"
Cassian wondered if she was insane enough to sleep nakes, but yet he wouldn't miss the opportunity to snoop. "Completely." he lied.
Nesta grumbled a little. "Are you sure?"
Cassian sighed and said. "Yes, I'm sure." Once Nesta didn't let herself think a fourth time as she skipped with soft steps to the bed. She was wearing a dark bluish green top, short over her navel and her matching pants were way over her knees, phe can practically see her ass. It was revealing most of her skin. Cassian just took one glimpse of her back but she quickly sat on the bed, covering her body with the sheets. So he asked sarcastically. "Those are the pajamas you decided to bring to Alaska?"
Nesta's cheeks flushed. The asshole saw her. "Yes, because I was supposed to be in a hotel alone. Remember?" She hissed.
"Can we just go to sleep?" Cassian held his hands up in annoyance.
Nesta wasn't going to complain to that so she shot. "Fine." She made herself comfortable and shut her eyes. It hasn't even been six seconds and she was already trying to get the beaming light off her face. She shot open her eyes in slight annoyance. "Well… Looks like I won't be getting much sleep with the sun streaming in." She said. Cassian, already with a small controller in hand, pushed a button as the window's blinds slowly closed, darkening the room. Nesta took a quick glance before closing her eyes. "Thank you."
The day turned to night as it passed by. While Nesta and Cassian were sleeping, Rhysand was in the dining room reading some papers about a new art school opening somewhere around the week. He slightly rubbed his temple at the lack of volunteers to work there.
"Birthday boy having a rough night?" A familiar voice was heard behind him. More specifically, near him. When he snapped his neck to see who was behind him, their foreheads collided. "Ow!" Both winced at this.
"Feyre?" Rhysand squinted his head to see through the slight blurriness from the impact and recognized that honey brown hair. "What are you doing up this late?"
"Aside from causing an impact… literally." Feyre rubbed her forehead as Rhysand chuckled at the joke. "Just got up to drink something to help me sleep. Alaska is pretty much a new sleeping schedule." She smiled a bit grimly. Rhysand nodded his hand in understanding.
"I believe I know a remedy for that." Rhysand left the papers in a safe place and went to open a few cabinets. "Ever had herbal tea?"
"Most of them are not really from Alaska." Feyre held her hands behind her. "You still haven't answered my question though." She cocked her chin the paperwork he was working on a moment ago. Rhysand chuckled and held a pack of herbs.
"Just running through the business. A new art school will be open soon." He set a pot of water to boil and waited. When he turned to face her, she seemed lost in thought. "Interested?"
That seemed to snap her out of it as she looked away. "Um, no. Not really interested. I stopped painting years ago."
Rhysand debated on asking more but gave her a nod. "I understand. But if you find some interest in it, let me know and I can open a spot." He gave her a wink. She seemed a bit shocked but she nodded with a small smile, cheeks flushed in a soft pink. "So. Where are you currently working at Feyre, darling?"
The way he said her name made her feel something creeping on her back. She shook the feeling away and answered. "I write articles about Places, Facts, Public Opinions, Information blah blah blah."
Rhysand chuckled at her sarcasm and gave her a smirk. "Sounds like fun."
"It's a pain in the ass if you ask me." Feyre rolled her eyes.
"I know about pain in the ass." Rhysand dropped the herbs on the pot. Feyre then did a small hmm.
She then said. "Does that mean that all the Paxton are pain in the ass sometimes?" She smirked but then regretted it when he gave a feline smirk of his own.
"I mean if you want us to. I know people who can meet your expectations.~" He said.
Feyre scoffed and crossed her arms. "Prick."
Rhysand finished with the tea and turned to her. "Honey or Sugar?"
Feyre flinched. "Pardon?"
"... Do you want honey or sugar in your tea?" His brows stitched together before shooting up in realization. Rhysand smirked again with a chuckle. "Don't tell me you thought I was already thinking of cheesy nicknames.~"
Feyre looked away. "Not a chance. Besides you keep calling me 'Darling', that's enough of a nickname." She said.
Rhysand suddenly set the steaming tea on the table and got closer to her, Feyre tried to back away but her back hit the aisle as he towered her. "Are you suggesting that I call you something else… Feyre, Darling.~" He whispered. God, he practically purred her name. She felt her face heat up, but it wasn't the only part of her body to do so.
Feyre kept her voice steady. "Honey." she said. His expression went from teaseful to shocked in a second, it was almost laughable. She then clarified with a small swagger. "Two spoonfuls of honey in my tea if that's alright?" She grinned at what seemed disappointment but he grinned and pulled away.
"Very well." Was all he said as he went to search the honey. Feyre swore under her breaths. What have I got into? was all she thought. She thanked him for the tea, took her time as they talked for a little while longer before the tea made its effect. They said their goodnights and she strolled back to bed.
In the morning, the sounds of the forest made a soft and beautiful melody. Nesta was still in bed sleeping silently when she heard a buzzing from her bag. She grumbled in her sleep before waking up in a jolt. "Cassian. Phone." She whispered but no answer. "Cassian!" She started to look for her bag. "Crap. Cass, Cass, phone." She kept looking. "Cassian!"
Cassian was still asleep, mumbling in his sleep. "Yeah... right."
Nesta kept searching hysterically. "Cassian, where is it?" She asked again.
Cassian now fully aware but neglecting to even open his eyes and stand up, opting to sleep some more. Yet he replied. "Purse, side pocket."
Nesta tried to reach her purse but she fell off the bed. "Ow! Shit!" She surched like crazy but found the side pocket, fishing out her phone. "Hello. Hello?" She tried to stand up as she stumbled slightly. "Helloooooo?" She stood still. and heard and answered. "Jurian! Jurian, Darling." She started screaming. "Darling, Jurian. Are you there? Hello?" Cassian held the sheets over his face. He was gonna lose it. "Hello? Oh, crap!" She kept screaming. He's losing it. "I have horrible service, Jurian. Give me just one minute." And he lost it.
"Oh, my God! Nesta!" Cassian snapped at her. He's too tired to deal with her bullshit, if calling work out of the building was bulshit. He covered his face again, Trying to sleep.
Nesta winced and whispered. "One... one minute. Jurian, hold on just a second." She took a fur coat with her. "Jurian, hold on. No, no, no, no." She closed the door behind her. She quickly ran down the stairs. "Hey. Hey, I'm sorry you feel I pressured you into doing Oprah, but…" She went through the living room, tysing the coat around her to cover what she was wearing and onto the porch. "Of course I want you to be happy." She looked around and took the pair of boots Emerie had given her yesterday. "Yes, yes. Jurian. Jurian. Jurian, Darling. Jurian? It's going to be fine." She said as she began to stroll out. Little did she know that she left the door open as little Housel ran out. "I can just call them and I can cancel.." She said and nodded. "You are... you are so right, Jurian… Yes, Jurian, of course I'm listening to you." She made a small gesture with her hand as if telling someone infront of her to calm down. Housel ran down the stairs and the little pup strolled behind her.
"Yeah... yes. I love listening to you, Jurian." She turned around and saw the small pup. Her eyes widened as Housel yapped at her. "Sit." She hissed, pointing down. "Sit." She said again. The pup either obeyed or sat on his free will as it sat adorably. Nesta glared at Housel for a few seconds before quickly clarifying. "No, not you, Jurian. No, no." She resumed walking and Housel followed suit. "Jurian, if I may get down to it, OK, I think it would be a mistake to back out." She said. Just behind her, a predator just marked its prey. An eagle eyed the little pup as it was distracted and took flight.
"Because, Frank, for so many years, you have inspired me with your beautiful words, and I feel that…" Nesta saw the eagle fly above her as Housel started yapping again. "Dog, I'm on the phone." She stumbled on her words. "I think it's time the world gets to enjoy your words as well. They are just so rich with passion and I think that we should all be privy to…" The eagle kept flying around and she realized. It's eying little Housel. "And... Jurian, I just…" The eagle took a dive. "I just want you to be happy, Frank." It held Housel in its grasp and took flight. Nesta began to run. "Give me that dog!" She ran as fast as she could after the white fluff ball. She panted while on the phone. "And I need, Jurian, for you to hold on just a second." She took a turn to the left. "Can you hold a second? Give me that dog!" She shouted, Aiming her phone to the eagle but missed. The eagle lost concentration and the grip on Housel.
"Come on!" Nesta held her arms out and positioned herself to catch the pup. "Come on, come on, come on. Come on!" She threw herself forward as the put started it free fall. She caught Housel just in time. "OK! OK, gotcha." She ran for her phone and hoped Jurian didn't hang up. "Jurian, Jurian." She repeated. "Jurian? So sorry, so sorry. So sorry. I dropped the phone." She started to run away from the eagle. "Now, listen, Frank. I don't want to sell you on anything, but this is your legacy, this book." She almost tripped but kept running. "And I think it's up to you to present your legacy to the world. And call me tomorrow with your decision. And my phone is on all the time!" Nesta saw the eagle starting its dive. She had to dodge. Now. "OK, bye-bye-" She managed to dodge but the eagle snatched her phone straight fom her hand. "No! Wait!" She stood up, still holding the pup. No! No! No! No…" She then held Housel to the eagle. "Take the doggy. Look at the doggy!" She ran after the eagle with Housel held out, as if trying to convince the eagle to trade. "I need that phone! Take the dog." She ran in circles, repeating the same phrase over and over. "Here. Take the dog. Take the dog. Take the dog." She barely held herself up right when she stumbled. "Take it. Take it."
Inside the house. Mor and Emerie were softly chuckling at what they're seeing. "Look at this. Is that cute or what?" Mor asked smiling.
"I know." Emerie chuckled as Cassian joined them, still in his bed hair but at least he put on a wine red long sleeve shirt, gray pants and working shoes.
"Morning, girls. Have you seen… Aah." His mouth dropped when he saw Nesta running around the yard with Housel stretched out. "What in the name of-"
"She's playing with Housel. We thought she didn't like him." Emerie said as the girls giggled again.
Mor tugged on Cassian's sleeve. "Will you go get her, Cass? We have a whole day planned for her, and she needs to get ready." She smiled as Emerie nodded.
"Yeah. Tell her we have a big surprise for her." She said. Cassian only looked blankly as if he's gonna dea; with a psychopath as he quickly headed out.
Nesta stood in place as the eagle stood in the tree. "Look! Give me my phone. Come on. Please, just give me my phone." She said panting, still holding up Housel. "Come on. Right here."
"What the hell are you doing?" Cassian asked as he walked down the stairs and right next to her. She looked at him hysterically.
"Oh, my God." Nesta panted exhausted. She needed to catch a breath. "Mor was completely right. The eagle came and tried to take the dog. But then I saved him. Then it came back, and it took my phone-" She tried to explain, now holding Housel against her body.
"Are you drunk?" Cassian crossed his arms in disbelief.
"What? No! I'm serious!" Nesta let go of the pup. "He's got my phone, and Jurian's calling me on it!" She was slightly panicking.
Cassian let go a breath and said. "Relax, all right? We'll order another phone, same number. We'll go into town and get it." He said. Nesta looked at him, now catching her breath.
"Really?" She asked a little hesitantly. Cassian gave her a nod. "Oh, OK. All right." She took a deep breath before he continued.
"You have to get ready." He said. Nesta shot him a glare.
"For what?" She asked.
He smirked. "Going out with Mor and the girls."
Nesta tried to object, too tired to do anything. "I don't wanna go."
Cassian continued with a shrug. "Shopping, sightseeing. And a surprise."
Nesta protested. "I hate shopping."
"You'll love it." Cassian kept his smirk. Pure male arrogance if Nesta can put it that way.
She hissed. "I hate sightseeing."
"You're going." Cassian took one glance toward the girls and stood closer.
Nesta kept protesting. "I don't wanna go."
Cassian pulled her closer. "You're going."
Nesta tried to pull away. "I don't wanna go. I'm not." She said but he already was pulling her into his arms.
"You are. Give me a hug." Cassian said its reasons. "Don't want them to think we're fighting."
Nesta hissed again and almost started to squirm. "I don't want to touch you."
"Come on. Hug time." Cassian wrapped his arms around her.
"No, I-"
"Hug time." He repeated.
Nesta tried one last time to pull away. "I don't wanna-" Too late. He's hugging her. "Cassian."
"There we go." He rubbed the back of her back as in soothing. Both Emerie and Mor seem content that they're hugging. Yeah, that's nice." Cassian repeated as his left hand now ran on her ass. "Yeah. That's nice." Nesta furrowed her brows. "There we go. Isn't that nice?" He said while patting her ass making a boop, boop, booping sound.
Nesta rolled her eyes but said lowly. "Yeah. If you touch my ass one more time. I will cut your balls off in your sleep. Ok?" She said. Cassian halted his hands and nodded.
"Yeah." He pulled away as Nesta fought the sudden cold that swept over her back when his hands rested on his pockets.
She cleared her voice. "There you go. Alrighty now. So we clear on that?" She asked.
Cassian just shrugged. "Yeah."
"Yeah." Nesta held his cheek in one of her hands. She swore his cheeks turned red and that his hazel eyes slightly darkened. She shook the thought away and smiled. "Such a good fiancé."
"Mhm." Cassian fought the urge to roll his eyes. She then left to get inside and change her attire but not without lightly slapping his cheek. "Ack!" He yelped. The girls are probably chuckling right now. Damn, she hits hard.
