ITZ FRIDAYYYYY, happy Friday guys lol. So I had sometime to give you guys a nice lil chapter so here we go

Disclaimer: I do not own rights to glee or it's characters

Wednesday rolled around before Mercedes knew it. She had taken some time off on Wednesday morning so that she could go to her gynecologist for her maternity check up and scan in peace instead of rushing through it during lunch.

lt will be the first ever scan. She couldn't contain her excitement. She will be seeing her baby for the first time. Also, Sam said he will be coming along too. She hoped he will really show up as promised. She has not seen him since Saturday and they barely talked on the phone too.

He only called her in the evenings and each time, their conversation lasted a few minutes before he had to answer another call or head out for another meeting. Marrying a tech billionaire meant you have to share him with a million other people, his clients, his business partners, his employees, everyone. She woke up really early on Wednesday, her stomach full of butterflies flitting around in a frenzy. The tiny bubbly movements of her baby paled in comparison to her nervous butterflies. She placed a gentle hand on her bump and smiled at the tiny movements inside.

Time sure do fly at a bullet train pace. She could barely believe that she is now entering the second trimester and in a few days, she will be married. To Sam.At the thought of Sam, his blazing blue eyes, his sculpted good looks and his sexy tall frame, her heart skipped a beat.

She could barely believe that she is really getting married. Sure, she has been planning her wedding to Puck for years but to marry someone she had a one-night stand with was like stuff out of a rom-com movie. Or a romance novel. It was so surreal.

Her father actually thought she was joking when she called him on Sunday morning to tell him about the wedding and the baby. He thought it was a belated April Fool's joke. She had to pass her phone to Tana, Brittany and Unique before he believed her. He agreed to fly out to Hawaii on the same day as her so that they could spend some time together before the wedding.

She is still undecided about inviting her mother though her dad did not seem to mind if her mother was going too. It's two more days before her flight to Hawaii and she has not called her mother.

Checking her reflection one last time, Mercedes sling her bag over her shoulder and left her apartment. She opened the Uber app and called for one. She barely slept last night so she decided to get an Uber instead of taking the subway.

The moment she stepped out of her apartment building, she saw Sam waiting outside, lounging against a silver Porsche. She quickly cancelled her Uber and walked towards him, not hiding her wide happy grin.

"Why, how gallant! You came to pick me up...like a date," she said, smiling up at him as she walked to him and hugged him spontaneously. He enveloped her in his arms and brought her close to him. She wrapped her arms around him and inhaled his masculine husky scent, her heart skipping a few beats at his warm embrace.

"Tve missed you" he whispered into her ears and kissed her neck lightly.

"So did I... " she replied and lifted her face towards him. He bent and drop a light peck on her lips before releasing her. She was disappointed by the chaste kiss and yearned for more but he had walked over to the car.

"Come, let's go." he said, opening the door to the passenger side for her. She slid in easily and admired the interior of the car while he got into the driver's seat. This was her first time sitting in a Porsche.

"Don't you have a driver?" she asked as he maneuvered the car into the trafic and headed to her gynecologist's.

"I have a few drivers but today,I want to personally drive you," he replied. One of his hands took her left hand and he kissed it gently. "I'll get you a driver too, I don't want you taking the subway after today, it's not very safe for a pregnant woman," he said.

She tried to protest, she has been taking the subway to work for years and being pregnant doesn't make much of a difference. She has been careful to avoid being crushed in the crowd during rush hour since she found out about her pregnancy.

"We can go pick out your car after this and the driver will be outside waiting for you tomorrow," he said, ignoring her protests.

"But I've to go back to work after the doctor's" she said. She only took time off, she couldn't take the whole day off since she has already taken Friday off to fly to Hawaii and Monday off for the flight back. Since Sam did not say anything about honeymoon, she assumed that there would not be one.

"You should've taken the rest of this week off, what with the wedding arrangements and the flight to Hawaii this Friday, I don't want you to overdo this," he said.

He asked if Tana had managed to arrange everything. "We have finalised our guest list and Mike has made the necessary arrangements. He is finalising the guest list on your side for you I heard," she said.

The wedding arrangements were rushed but with

Santana's efficiency, the wedding planner and Sam's three assistants working on all the arrangements with the resort in Hawaii, everything was coming together almost perfectly. lIn fact, the only thing the bride and groom needed to do was to show up.

Santana had even taken her shopping for her bridal gown and she had chosen a designer V-backed gown encrusted with diamonds with a short train and a beautiful lace veil.

It costs 20,000 and Santana swiped the limitless card without batting an eyelash. After that, Santana dragged her to a few other boutiques till she had bought her a whole new wardrobe of gorgeous designer maternity clothes and at least 10 different sets of sexy, lacy inner wear."You may be preggers but you can still be a sexy mama for the papa," Santana had said suggestively.

"That's good. Here, I was supposed to give you this on Saturday but the impromptu wedding plans distracted me." he took out a small velvet box and handed it to her.

She opened it. Nestled inside is the most gorgeous engagement ring she had ever seen. It was of a vintage design with intricate detailing, a brilliant blue sapphire set in burnished gold with tiny diamonds surrounding it.

"It was my grandmother's and have been handed down from generation to generation, so now it's yours," he said.

She removed it from the bed of velvet and slid it on the fourth finger of her left hand. It fitted perfectly. She held it up to show him. "Did you resize it?" she asked.

He looked slightly surprised."Looks like I don't need to" he said. "It looks good on you" he added.

Though she would have preferred that he personally put it on her finger for her instead of handing her the box so matter-of-factly but the fact that he had given her a family heirloom was enough to warm her heart.

Besides, he had repeatedly said their marriage was for the baby's sake, not for romance. She should not be expecting any romantic gestures from him. Then a thought occurred to her.

"l suppose this is only temporarily mine? I mean, you did say our marriage will be only for a maximum of five years...IF we divorce, I have to return this?" she asked.

He didn't reply her for a while and drove in silence. It stretched on for an eternity before he sighed.

"Yes, you probably have to return this upon our divorce. My younger brother might want to give it to his wife if he ever gets married," he said finally.

What's with the Evans brothers and their reluctance to get married and stay married, in the case of her and Sam, she wondered.

They drove up to the doctor's office presently and all talks about the ring has to be put on hold. It was time see baby for the first time.

Sam took one of her hands and walked in with her. All eyes turned towards them and naturally, all of the mothers-to-be were drawn to Sam's dashing good looks. Even the receptionist blushed when he spoke to her, giving her Mercedes's name and appointment time.He walked with her, still holding her hand, when her name was called.

"So, here's the baby...here's the head...the measurement is about 6 inches long...your baby is growing really well at 16 weeks gestation," the ultrasound technician said as she moved the probe around her bump.

She pointed to the screen showing the unmistakable shape for a baby, its tiny head, body and limbs. She pointed to a tiny pulsing spot."That's the heart, looks like its going strong and healthy" she said.

Mercedes eyes teared up.The baby looks so perfect. She is actually growing a tiny human inside her. Her heart swelled with love for the tiny being within her. Sam, who was still holding her hand, squeezed it. She looked at him and he was staring at the screen in awe and wonder.

"Do we know it's a girl or boy by now?" he asked the technician without looking away from the screen.

"No! No! I don't want to know yet!" Mercedes Interrupted before the technician replied. She turned to Sam."Can we keep it a secret? l'd rather find out when the baby is born" she said.

He considered her request."Would you mind if I find out first? I would rather know ahead, I don't like surprises, " he said.

She shrugged. He can find out first but he better not reveal it to her."You must promise not to tell me in any way, not even when we are discussing names" she said.

He agreed. So, she turned away while the technician whispered the sex of the baby into Max's ears.

Max looked thrilled after finding out the sex of the baby. He smiled broadly at the technician and continued to marvel at the black and white image on the screen. If anything, he looked like a proud dad despite the fact that he was not happy when she told him about her pregnancy.

"I'm going to set up a trust fund for the baby, he...she...will have everything that l can give them, they will not want for anything" he told her, stumbling on the pronouns before changing it to non-specific pronouns.

"I've printed the images for you and saved a digital copy for you too.You can dress and wait for the doctor now" the technician told them and left the room.

Mercedes looked at Sam. He had almost let slip the sex of the baby. She wouldn't be surprise if one day he blurted it out.

He looked at her carefully. "I'm sorry for almost blurting it out. I can't help it, this is so new and I never expected to feel so strongly for someone who is not even born yet," he told her and placed his hand on her bump.

He paused and looked at her, a serious expression his face. "I know l agreed to let you continue working but now... after I've seen our baby, I can't risk you hurting yourself and our baby" he started.

She started to protest but he placed a finger on her lips to shush her.

"l am willing to make some concessions on this... maybe you can cut down your work hours? Switch to flexible hours perhaps?" he suggested.

She considered his suggestion. It was not reasonable. In fact, it would work for her too especially nowadays she tires so easily and finds herself nodding off after lunch hour. She couldn't even rely on coffee to perk her up. Growing a human inside is tiring work.

"I will discuss this with my general manager, I am sure we can work out a flexible schedule," she said.

Just then, the doctor breezed in, holding a file. She glanced at them and gestured for them to take a seat in front of her table.

"So, Mrs. Jones you are about 16 weeks along now and as the scans showed you, baby is growing well, measurements are good, the baby is now about 4 ounces in weight" she said.

"lt's er, Ms Jones" Mercedes corrected her. Mrs. Jones was her mother before the divorce.

"Actually, it's Mrs Evans," Sam cleared his throat.

The doctor looked at Sam and then Mercedes. She shrugged. " understand you asked for a DNA test?" she addressed Mercedes, giving Sam a side-eyed glare.

Mercedes nodded in reply. She had requested it the last time she came for a check up even though Sam seemed to have forgotten and did not push her for it. She had gotten Mike to give her a sample from Sam to compare the DNA results.

The doctor handed a folder to her."Here's the results. If you have any questions, I will be happy to explain it" she said.

Mercedes slid the document inside out of the folder and stared at the results. She already knew what it would say without reading it. It was written that there was a 99.99% paternal link between the two samples. She handed it to Sam silently.

He barely glance at it and slid it back into the folder."! "trust you mercy.I don't have to read that," he said. He handed the folder back to the doctor."Get rid of this, I don't need this," he said.

Mercedes stopped him and snatched the folder back. "No, I think it's best we keep that" she said.

Sam was taken aback by her action but did not say anything. He turned to the doctor and started grilling the doctor about the "dos and don'ts" for pregnant women. He even voiced his concern over Mercedes going to work in "her condition".

The doctor was amused. She reassured him that Mercedes's "condition" was not as delicate as he assumed. "She can go back to work just like millions of other women do when pregnant, she is young and her pregnancy is a healthy one, she doesn't have any underlying issues" she told him.

After he had gotten all the information he needed about what she can or cannot do and eat, they left the doctor's office. It was already 11am and almost time for her to get back to work. She has to be back by 1pm. She told him they have a couple hours to grab a bite before she has to go back to work.

His face darkened at her mention of work."l know the doctor said you can go back to work as normal but l really feel it is best you take these few days off...we are flying to Hawaii in just two days," he said. He took out his cell phone and started stabbing at it. "There, it's settled. Mike will get you two weeks' leave from work" he said.

"What? How? Why two weeks?? I don't have that much leave days to take!" she said. She had taken some of it for a week-long holiday with Puck before they broke up. Just then, her cell phone rang. She answered it as she walked with Sam to his car.

"Mercedes? What's going on? Some guy called the office to tell us that you are taking two weeks off from work? What is the meaning of this?" her general manager's confused and annoyed voice came through her phone.

"Oh Mr. schue! I am so sorry. Something came up...something personal..l just needed some time off to settle some personal stuff" she told him.She had kept her pregnancy and her imminent wedding a secret at work. Despite working there for two years, she wasn't close to any of her colleagues.

Most of them kept pretty much to themselves and since she is the personal assistant to the general manager, many distrust her, thinking she might leak anything they say to her boss.

"What personal stuff Mercedes? Are you in trouble? You know you can tell me if you're having some problems. Do you need money?" her boss' voice softened and he sounded concerned.

He had always been nice to her. He often bought her lunches when she was too caught up with work and didn't have time to go out for lunch and once, he even gave her a leather-bound diary as a birthday present.

Despite what her predecessors had told her, that her boss William Schuester sleeps around a lot and tend to pass at his own assistants, he has never made a pass at her.

He had always been respectful and not once invaded her space or her privacy.

"Oh, don't worry Mr Schue. I am fine, I am so sorry to do this without telling you personally, I promise, I will tell you everything when I get back" she said and slide a glance at sam. He was frowning as he drove silently. It was obvious he was listening in to her conversation.

"Mercedes, you can tell me what's going on.I need to know what's happening to approve this long leave you are taking out of the blue" William Schuester was telling her. He sounded very concerned. "We will need to look for a temp while you are away and I need to know for sure that you are coming back after two weeks," he added.

"Yes, yes, of course l am coming back after two weeks.I promise," she replied. She slide Sam another glance before saying quietly into her phone, "Actually. I am getting married so I am taking leave for that,".

"What? That's a bit sudden. Well, then, are there more surprises I should know about? Are you pregnant by any chance too?" he asked, his voice sounded strangely snarky.

She mumbled a soft 'yes' in reply and quickly tell him again that she will explain when she gets back before hanging up. Not that she has much to explain. Not that she will tell her boss of two years that she had a one night stand with a stranger, got knocked up and then decided to marry the said stranger who turned out to be a tech billionaire.

"You don't have to explain anything to him. This is

your personal life," Sam finally said.

She tried to explain to him that William Schuester had been a nice fatherly figure to her at work in the two years she worked there.Though they had never talked about personal stuffs at work, he had always looked out for her.

In fact, he was the one who found the apartment for her when she was looking for a nice affordable unit near her workplace.

"Fatherly figure eh? He's not that old" Sam replied. "Last I heard, he's 45 with a string of girlfriends younger than his eldest daughter, younger than you even"

She shrugged."l am only his personal assistant at work. I don't deal with his personal things" she said. Mr.Schue had never asked her to send flowers or gifts to any woman, not even to his wife or his daughters.

She only knew he has three daughters, the youngest still in high school and the eldest is about her age.And that was the extent of her knowledge of her boss.

They pulled into a luxurious car dealer's showroom. Sam seemed to have dismiss anything to do with Mr.Schue as he got out of the car and went over to open her door for her.

"Forget about William,Time to choose your car:" he said.

After she picked out her car, a red Porsche SUV that can securely fit in an infant seat, Sam did not drop her back home. Instead, he told her he has a surprise for her.

"Another surprise? It's beginning to feel like Christmas today" she said. First he gave her a gorgeous family heirloom for an engagement ring and then, he bought her a car, which she supposed she will have to return once they are divorced, like the ring, and now another surprise.

"Don't you have, like, meetings to attend! You were always busy whenever we talked on the phone," she added.

He was driving carefully across the city, just under the speed limit, and careful not to brake suddenly. They were heading quite far away from her place.

"I have deferred some of my meetings for today. We do have some things we need to get done for the wedding." he said. He pulled into a large parking lot and helped her out of the car."It's a short walk from here" he said. He linked his fingers through hers.

They strolled down the busy street, bustling with people. The whole street was lined with expensive designer brands boutiques.

"If you wanted to get me clothes, Tana has already settled that with your card" she told him. She liked walking together with him, her hand nestled in his large warm hands. It felt like they were out on a date. She stole a glance at his handsome profile and her heart skipped a beat.

He may say he doesn't believe in love and romance but he sure is acting all romantic today, she thought and smiled secretly. If she was to tell him how romantic he has been, he would probably balk at it and walk a two-meter physical distance from her.

They arrived at a famous designer jeweller boutique. The guard at the entrance took one look at him and immediately opened the door for him.

A snotty-looking salesperson in a neat uniform approached them. She had on a wide smile, her brilliant white teeth in a neat row, her sleek chignon tightly swept up, not a tendril out of place.

"Mr. Evans! It is a surprise to see you here" she

gusted. her eves all Googly and wide. looking up at Sam adoringly. She barely glance at Mercedes. Mercedes could be a statue for all she cared.

"So, what is it you're looking for? We just got in some gorgeous cuff links with minimal diamonds and very classic designs" she said. She ushered them - or Sam to be precise as she was obviously ignoring Mercedes- to an area with plush seatings.

It looked like he came here often, she thought. He must have bought a lot of cuff links and jewellery from this boutique, she thought.

"Here, make yourself comfortable and I will have the girls bring out the latest cuff links," she said.

"No, I am not interested in cuff links" Sam said. He

sat down, crossed his legs and pulled Mercedes close to him, snaking an arm around her intimately. Mercedes felt her heartbeat increased and couldn't stop herself from inhaling his scent. She snuggled close to him.Whatever it is he plans to buy, she doesn't hate sitting so close to him. Like a real couple.

"Bring me a selection of wedding bands," he ordered.

If the snooty salesperson was surprised, she didn't show it. She merely slid a brief calculative look at Mercedes before turning back to Sam and smiled broadly.

"Wedding bands!"She was more surprised than the salesperson. She had assumed he would have left it to Mike to order for them. He had not taken even a tiny bit of interest in the wedding planning.

"Oh! So, congratulations order. That is good news indeed. I will be right back with you, we shall bring you only the best," she said deferentially.

Presently, they brought out several trays of wedding bands or various makes, designs and materials. Platinum,Gold,Rose Gold,Diamond-studded,Plain bands,Intricate Vintage designs.

"Which ones do you like? I don't have any preferences," Sam told her as they both sat up to scrutinize the trays of rings. There were so many, she felt overwhelmed with the choices before her.

"I don't know how to choose...why don't we just go with plain bands" she asked, pointing to a pair of plain gold bands.

He took out the band and slid it into her ring finger next to her engagement ring. It was not her size so it was loose."If you really like this, we can get this," he said.

"Oh, Mr. Evans! May I suggest this design instead? It suits the engagement ring perfectly" the salesperson said, placing a pair of vintage-designed bands. It was of burnished gold with delicate vintage carvings on it.

Mercedes loved it. It seemed to go perfectly with the engagement ring Max gave her.The salesperson may be snooty but she sure is good at her job.

Sam studied the rings and looked at her questioningly, silently asking if she wants that. She nodded in agreement. "Okay, we will take this," he told the salesperson.

She seemed delighted and started recommending of vintage-design jewelry that "perfectly complement the sets ring".

She was definitely good at her job, Mercedes thought. Sam told her to wrap up a few sets of matching jewelry without even looking at them.

"But Sam... " she wanted to protest but he told her she will need it to attend formal events with him in future.

"You must look the part of my wife, mercy, let me buy these for you" he said. "Make sure you get her ring size and everything fits her" he told the salesperson.

She was smiling broadly at Sam and now at Mercedes too. Probably happy with the amount of commissions she will be getting from this one sales. After they measured her finger, wrists and neck to make sure everything was at the perfect length for her, Sam gave them instructions to have the jewelry delivered to his house.

They left the boutique and again tooka short walk back to his car. "Are you hungry? Let's get something to eat" he said. In all the excitement of the baby scan and the new car and the jewellery, Mercedes didn't even notice that her stomach is empty. It was after Sam mentioned getting something to eat that she noticed how hungry she is.

What do you crave?" he asked.

She shrugged. She was supposed to get over her morning sickness by now but she is still queasy most of the time at the thought of food. She has not had any cravings at all."Just make sure there's no red meat or meat of any kind...I prefer something bland.maybe a veggie sandwich?" she said.

He considered her suggestion and started the car engine. "I know just the perfect place," he said. It was a I0-minute drive before he pulled into the underground parking lot of a tall, grey building.

Mercedes had dozed off and woke up when he cut the engine off. "Oh, sorry, I seem to fall asleep easily nowadays," she apologized, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. She looked around the parking lot. There were very few cars around. "Where are we?" she asked.

He gave her a smile."You will see" he said mysteriously. He alighted from the car and went to open her door for her. After helping her out of the car, he linked his fingers through hers and held her against him."Come, you must be hungry'" he said.

They stepped into the elevator. He tapped a device on it and its doors slid close noiselessly. It began to move up smoothly, it's ascend barely felt.

When the doors slide open, a spacious opulent room of greys, blue, steel and glass greeted them.A man in a chef's uniform stood before them.

"Ah Sam, finally, you have brought the new lady of the house back, lunch is ready in the dining room" he said.

He turned to Mercedes who had followed Sam out of the elevator and gaping at her surroundings in amazement.

"Welcome home Madam! We have been waiting for you to move in since Sam told us about you" he said, a friendly twinkle in his brown eyes.

"Home? What? Sam?" she turned to Sam. He smiled boyishly at her.

"l couldn't bear staying apart from you one more day so I thought you might as well come home with me, now" he said. He drew her close to him and kissed her deeply. It doesn't matter that his chef was watching them, she leaned into the kiss hungrily. She had missed him and his lips so much.

He placed a hand on her back, bent and swept her into his arms without breaking the kiss. "I suppose I must carry my bride across the threshold into our home" he muttered against her lips. His tongue darted into her mouth, duelling with hers.

Her pulse quickened and she wrapped her arms around his neck.A frisson of desire snaked down her spine.
