The marriage ceremony was simple and fast. They got married in the judge's chambers with Mike and Santana as witnesses. The judge was supercilious and to the point. He seemed to be in a hurry so the whole ceremony felt rushed.

"I now pronounce you Mr and Mrs Samuel Ishmael Evans," he announced and that was it. He did not even bother with the "You may kiss the bride" and any other unnecessary stuffs. He even tried to usher them out after making the announcement and they had signed the required documentations.

"Congratulations Mr and Mrs Samuel Ishmael Evans!" Santana gushed once they are outside the courthouse.

It was not the most ideal place to get married but Mercedes supposed it was just a matter of legalizing their marriage. It wasn't as if they were deeply in love and are professing their love in front of their close friends and family in a large wedding. It was private and fast.

"So, are you lovebirds off to your honeymoon now?" she asked.

Mercedes turned to her new husband. The term 'husband' seemed so strange and unfamiliar. She can't believe she is now someone's wife. She has not even thought of whether she should change her name or to keep her maiden name or to hyphenate her name. She knows for sure that their baby must carry both hers and

Sam's name so the baby will be a Jones-Evans. Maybe she might change her name to Jones-Evans too, so that she has the baby will have the same name as her.

"Let's go for lunch now and I have to go into the office later." Sam replied.

He appeared preoccupied and as enigmatic as ever. Not in the least like a happy groom. Come to think of it, Mercedes wasn't exactly elated or the happy bride either. She was actually anxious and full of uncertainty. She was not sure that she had done the right thing.

She looked down at the wedding band next to her vintage engagement ring. It matched perfectly. Her other engagement right, a solitaire diamond ring, glinted from her other hand. She is also wearing the matching vintage- style earrings, bracelet and necklace that Sam bought her when they went wedding band shopping. She felt like a glittering Christmas tree with all that jewellery on her person. She was not a jewelry person, often choosing simple pieces and costume jewelry for accessories. She was sure she looked the part of a billionaire's wife what with all that jewelry and her designer brand dress now.

On Saturday, Santana took her shopping for an elegant short cream coloured designer gown. She couldn't possibly wear her intricate wedding gown to a simple civil marriage ceremony so she had settled for an elegant short gown. Jane had helped her do her hair and make up this morning too, keeping it simple and elegant.

Then of course, it was Mike who brought a bridal bouquet for her, although she doesn't really need one.At Santana's insistence, the newly married couple posed for a photo together while Mercedes holds the bouquet. She took a few different angles and made them change poses until Sam started to frown and refused to pose anymore.

Mercedes was glad for the flower bouquet as it adds some color to their photos. She particularly liked one where Sam was holding her waist and they were looking at each other. It looked like they were deeply in love.

Lunch was awkward to say the least. Sam spent most of it jabbing and swiping on his phone or wallking out to talk on the phone while Mike almost mirrored him. So Mercedes and Santana kept themselves occupied by chatting over everything they can think of.

Santana talking about her work, the horrid patients she had to deal with and the funny ones too. Mercedes didn't have much to tell her although she was dying to rant about Kitty. She told Santana a bit about the blonde minx on Saturday but did not really go into details. She has not even told her about finding Kitty in Sam's room last night.

She was dying to rant to Santana but obviously she couldn't do it with Sam there. When lunch was over, the two women were so relieved, they couldn't wait to get rid of Sam and Mike.

Mercedes wanted to rant and vent while Santana is just tired of the silent men who didn't even have the courtesy to look at them throughout the meal. They were either eating or on their phone. It was as if Mercedes and Santana were not there.

Where should I drop you Mrs Evans and Ms Lopez" Mike asked once they were inside the car.

"It's Dr Lopez, not Ms, just drop us at my place" Santana said. Friends can call her Tana but anyone else better call her Dr Lopez. No Ms, Ma'am or whatever term they like.

But Sam had other plans. He instructed Mike to drop Santana off at her place and to take him and Mercedes to the country club. The women were surprised. Mike seemed indifferent.

"I thought you had to go back to your office?" Mercedes asked.

Sam barely looked up from his phone. He was busy scrolling on it and occasionally jabbing and swiping at it. "I want you to meet someone there," he said."It will take a moment and then I really need to get into the office,"

Santana and Mercedes exchanged looks. Mercedes shrugged. "l catch up with you later then, Tana" she said. When Mike made it to Santana house, she thanked Santana and told her she will text her later to arrange a time to meet but Sam interrupted them.

"l am afraid you won't have time to meet Santana later, I have made plans for us" he said.

Santana blatantly rolled her eyes at him."Okay, see you later Mrs Evans! Don't be a stranger now that you're a billionaire's wife" she winked and sashayed off but stopped when Mercedes grabbed her arm.

"I thought you said you will be busy?" Mercedes turned to ask him once they had driven of.

"Now that you are officially my wife, I suppose it is inevitable that I introduce my family to you so work has to wait a while more," he explained while looking up briefly. His eyes were dark and unreadable. Then he turned back to his phone.

Not knowing what to make of it, Mercedes didn't say anything. She didn't know anything about Sam's family. They had never talked about his family and he has never mentioned anything about his parents or siblings or anything. There were no family pictures in his condo either, not even in his room.

"Well I want Tana there with me" she said pulling a shocked Santana back into the car, while Sam gave her questionable look. "What you said meeting family and Tana is mine so..."

Sam just nods and goes back into jabbing at his phone. They arrived at the country club about an hour later. Mercedes had nodded off during the drive so when the car stopped, she woke up. She realized her head was on Sam's shoulder so she quickly straightened up and wiped her mouth to check for drool. lt would be so embarrassing if she had drooled and snored when she fell asleep.

"You sounded tired, you were snoring" Sam told her teasingly, grinning at her when she blushed in embarrassment."Thankfully, you didn't drool all over my suit, this is an Armani suit" he added.

"Oh hush, like you don't have more then one" Santana said teasingly

He alighted from the car and helped her out. Then he placed her hand in the crook of his arm and walked into the clubhouse like he owned in.The employees there from the customer service to the servers at the cafe knew him the moment he walked in. There were almost falling all over their feet trying to please and serve him.

It was"Mr Evans" this and"Mr Evans" that. Mercedes felt stifled from all that attention. Finally, they were seated at a table at the cafe, overlooking an expansive golf course.A few people were playing a few rounds of golf.

"Please tell the other Mr Evans that I am here" Sam told the server who came up to them to take their order. The young man nodded politely and withdrew. She almost expected him to bow as if Sam was royalty and stifled a giggle that almost burst through her lips A few minutes later, a tall handsome man sauntered to them. He looked like Sam's double except he was slightly younger, slightly shorter, with lighter hair and his features were softer. He, too, has a well built physique and wide shoulders.

He too commanded attention the same way Sam commands attention when he walks into a room. Several heads turned at his entrance, most of whom are female.

"Brother! So, you finally bite the dust and to this gorgeous little thing here too," he said, his sky blue eyes twinkling cheerily at Mercedes. He held out his hand."Nice to meet you sis-in-law...I heard absolutely nothing about you before today." he said, grinning cheekily. "I am Jaden, the younger and definitely more good looking brother, and I am pretty sure, good ole stuffy Sam here has never said a word about me to you too," he said to her. He winked and smiled down at her. He definitely exuded a warm, friendly charm that was far different from Sam's quiet arrogance.

Mercedes took Stevie'a proffered hand and shook it. His grip was firm and his hand smooth and warm. He immediately sat down on her other side. She is now sandwiched between the two most good looking men in the whole cafe, one smiling warmly at her while the other, her husband, studied her and his brother broodingly.

"So, what did you do to trap my brooding moody stick-up-his-arse brother into marriage?" Stevie asked without preamble. "l see you didn't manage to remove the stick..." he added cheekily.

Mercedes couldn't help but giggle at the way Stevie described Sam. He was not far off in his description.

"She wasn't the one that trapped him" Santana said low enough so no one could hear, but Stevie heard her.

"Oh my I'm rude, pardon me," he says " I didn't see you there and who might you be"

"I'm Dr Lopez. Cedes bestfriend/sister" Santana said

"Ohh a doctor, care to assist me later"

Before Santana could even respond Sam frowned at them and cleared his throat. "She didn't trap me. I was the one who insisted on this marriage" he told Stevie.

Stevie clutched his chest in mock shock, gasping loudly. "What??? The Samuel Evans actually wanted to get married without being forced??? Oh my baby blues and all things sacred in this wonderful earth, how is that even possible? What has this world become.. is it Armageddon? Oh no..." he exclaimed audaciously while theatrically holding a hand to his temple.

Sam merely raised an annoyed eyebrow at his brother's theatrics. Mercedes swallowed another giggle and covered her mouth with a hand. She likes Stevie, meanwhile Santana tried to cover up her laughing with a cough.

"Spare us your stand-up comedian act. Really, that so- called career crashed and burned even before you started," Sam said drily.

Stevie again clutched his chest exaggeratedly."Oh, you hurt me, brother, you know I could be famous if I had wanted to but we all know, the famous life is not for me!" he said. He turned to Mercedes. "So, my dear new favourite sister-in-law, what did Sam do to force you to marry him? I mean, other than his money, he has nothing going for him" he said. He raised a hand to partially cover his mouth and bent near her. "He is the ugly one in the family after all," he whispered theatrically behind his raised hand. He pointed at his crotch."I am sure mine is also bigger than his," he said conspiratorialy, wriggling his eyebrows for added effect.

She laughed. Stevie is such a breath of fresh air. And vastly different from Sam. He is so extremely likeable. While Sam is just...Sam. Her mysteriously enigmatic husband. Her gorgeously desirable husband that makes her blood sing and her heart skip. She stole a glance at her husband. He looked annoyed but not furious at Stevie's close proximity to her.

"That will be enough before you go overboard with your inappropriate jokes" Sam said.

Stevie gave a loud long-suffering sigh. "You are no fun, brother, as always," he complained. He settled down in his chair and studied Mercedes and then Sam.

"I like him, his like the fun Version of you Sam" said Santana with a light laugh.

"Oh I can do more then make you laugh pretty lady" he said wiggling his eyebrows at her. "So, what's the story? You texted me out of the blue, this morning, to tell me you are getting married and wanted me to meet your wife...that was just a bit too sudden, even for you," Stevie said seriously.

Sam shrugged. He took Mercedes's hand and brought it up to his lips, kissing it gently. "lt is time that I get married and settle down. Mercy and I care for each other deeply'" he said simply.

Mercedes was taken aback. So, Sam was going to lie to his brother? She felt Sam squeeze her hand. Was it a signal to her not say anything? She decided to keep her silence and see what Sam says.

"Also, you will be an uncle rather soon," Sam told Stevie.

Stevie's eyes widened and he looked at Mercedes in surprise. "What? So soon?" he exclaimed.

He looked at her belly and noticed the small bump there for the first time. Her belly was barely noticeable due to the cutting and design of her gown, specifically the reason why she chose it.

"Wow.I never take you for a fatherly type, Sam," he told his brother. Then he leaned to Mercedes. "Did he knock you up? That must be it! Is that how he forced you to marry him?" he asked teasingly.

She wanted to nod because Stevie was right. Sam did knock her up. And he did, sort of, in a way, made her marry him. Coerced her, to be more accurate. Santana was bout to say speak but Mercedes kicked her leg under the table to warn her.

"There was no forcing around here. Honestly Stevie, you behave as if no woman in their right mind would want to marry me," he said. "Don't forget, I am listed as one of the top rising billionaires and women will literally fall all over my feet if lI was to announce I am looking for someone to marry me," he added.

Mercedes rolled her eyes. Really. Here is Sam bragging.

Looks like Stevie did get to him with his light cheeky teasing. Stevie didn't miss her eye roll and laughed cheerily. "Looks like sis here doesn't agree! Honestly Sam. "could your head get any bigger? You might not fit through the clubhouse doors at this rate!" he admonished his elder brother. "Anyways, congratulations! I am glad he married you and not that crazy obsessive Kitty," he added.

Mercedes was delighted that Stevie sounded as if he doesn't like Kitty. He can definitely be an ally. He will be the brother that she never had.

"Come on Stevie, Kitty wasn't that bad. She had issues but she's harmless," Sam defended his friend.

Mercedes wanted to kick him. Why was he defending his friend? And in front of his new wife too! Ughhhh...she swallowed her annoyance.

"Brother! Your wife is sitting right here and you are defending another woman? Oh dear brother, you have a lot to learn about women," Stevie shook his head in mock tragedy. He gave Clarissa a secret side wink. "l am definitely on Mercedes's side!" he added.

Sam looked at her to gauge her reaction. She put on a poker face on purpose. She would not give him the benefit of acting like some jealous wife. But it backfired.

"See? She's not bothered. She knows Kitty meant nothing to me now," Sam said.

He gave her hand another squeeze. She wanted to snatch her hand away and kick his shins. Is he honestly so dense or was he just pretending in front of Stevie? She controlled her annoyance with all her might and smiled at Stevie sweetly.

"He so loves Kitty that she is sleeping in a room right next to his," she said sweetly. "Which she seems to have free access too,"

Sam cleared his throat loudly and looked uncomfortable. He gave her hand a warning squeeze.

"What? She is still sleeping in that room?!! Oh my baby blues and all things dear in my heart. Why would you do that Sam? Is the connecting door still there?" Stevie asked.

Mercedes gaped at him. Connecting door? There was a connecting door between Sam's and Kitty's room? "What? What connecting door?" this time she snatched her hand away as if burned.

"That door was sealed and replaced with a wall long ago Stevie, what are you trying to do here?" Sam said placatingly. He tried to take her hand but she moved slightly further from him and clutched her hands in her lap. What else was he hiding from her?

Santana was just sitting her listening to all this but was she shocked not the least. She have her friend a like which she returned to let her know they'll talk about it.

Stevie sniggered and shrugged. He threw up his hands in innocence. "How was I to know? I've not been to your place in ages! I was not welcomed there, remember?" he said, a sliver of steely hostility had entered his tone. "l am sure you will not kick me out of there right, my new sis-in- law?" he turned to her, smiling every so cheerily.

She smiled at him tentatively, uncertainty filled her. There was definitely something hostile between Stevie and Sam. Some misunderstanding. Or a family quarrel. Maybe a fight? She looked at Sam. He was studying her and Stevie with a guarded expression, his blazing blue eyes a deep blue ocean.

"That was a misunderstanding a long time ago, I don't see why you must bring this up now Stevie" Sam finally said. "You are most welcome to visit with us anytime, added, though his tone was anything but welcoming.

Stevie gave him a mock serious salute."Aye aye Captain Sam. I shall adhere to your every rule and law and stuffy orders if I do find myself unfortunately within your precious lodgings" he said sarcastically.

I made the wedding a lil quick lil sum since it was a court house wedding anyway, but we got to meet Stevie Evans everyone. How are we feeling about him. I personally thinks he's funny and it's great to see someone from Sam's family who isn't an asshole. We see he don't like Kitty either lol.

Please excuse all grammar errors that may occur.

The next chapter will continue with Mercedes and Stevie getting to know each other more.

Until next time
