The Doctor was getting more and more nervous as she got closer and closer to River's house. She wanted to impress the professor so she stepped out of her comfort zone by a mile. She wore a blue lace dress with a pleated skirt framing her legs which was accompanied by a lace bodice with a lace hemline, which plunged into the V-neck line. She wore simple black flat ballerina pumps. She was going to wear heels but something told her a dinner date was never a simple date with River. So she opted for flat shoes.
She stepped out of her taxi, thanking the man kindly, fidgeting with her small bag before getting the courage to walk up the path to knock on the door. River's curtains were closed but she could see the outline of her hair and the shadow of her figure walking back and forth across the window.
She walked up the drive and knocked on the front door, pivoting back and forth on her feet waiting anxiously for the door to open, and when it did the Doctor's breath was taken away when she saw what River was wearing.
River was wearing a red shimmering mid-length dress which accented beautifully with her devil red heels. It had two thick straps resting on her shoulders holding the dress to River's frame. The Doctor couldn't help but notice the deep plunge neckline making River's breasts look amazing.
The Doctor licked her lips, suddenly finding them dry. She tried to speak to complement River but she couldn't quite form the words in a coherent sentence.
"Hello Sweetie," she said with amusement at the short woman's loss of words.
"Hi, River… you… look - wow," the Doctor stammered.
"Thank you, you look amazing, Doctor," River replied fondly. The Doctor blushed and started fidgeting at the woman's gaze. "Do come in." River moved out of the way to let the Doctor in.
The Doctor walked into the living room spotting a little girl waiting patiently on the sofa. Amaya turned around and when she spotted the Doctor immediately jumped off the sofa and ran into her arms.
"Jane, Jane I'm so happy to see you," she said excitedly.
"I'm happy to see you too Amaya, have you learnt anything new?"
"Yes I have, Skye has been teaching me about Orion and his belt."
"Brillant! You can tell me all about it next time I see you ok?"
"Yes ok." She paused for a few moments, bouncing on the balls of her feet. "Are you taking my mummy on a date?"
"Actually your mum is taking me on a date"
"Oh," the little girl looked stumped for a minute looking between the pair. "Well you be careful, cos mummy likes danger," she said with a serious face, crossing her arms and trying to look tough.
"I promise to be careful little madam" the Doctor replied, looking sweetly down at the little girl.
Amaya took the response that the Doctor gave her and nodded her head before running to find Skye. The Doctor smiled, watching the girl runoff. River walked into the room with her small bag in hand. The Doctor had been so busy talking to Amaya that she hadn't noticed River leave the room.
"Are you ready?" River asked.
"Yes." River hooked her arm around the blonde arm and clicked a few buttons on the vortex manipulator before they zapped out of River's living room.
/
They reappeared. River unhooked her arm from the Doctor and watched her bend over and start coughing looking like she might be sick. River rubbed her back with one hand and held the blonde short hair away from her face with the other.
"Cheap and nasty time travel, less bulky than a Tardis but might be uncomfortable." The Doctor looked up, trying to see River's face trying to gauge a reaction only to see a small smirk on it. "I would say it gets easier the more you're used to it, but I would be lying," she laughed quietly. The Doctor nodded and followed River into what looked like a triangle with three different rooms coming off it.
The Doctor turned on the spot and saw a library and a museum and a restaurant coming from each point; it had at least 6 floors or more. The triangle they were standing in wasn't small, oh no, it was the size of a small city. The Doctor could only imagine what the library looked like.
There were loads of people dancing in the room they were standing in, but she paid no mind to them. She just wanted River to show her the library. She grabbed River's hand, entwining their fingers and took one step towards it. When she stopped mid-stride, River looked at her strangely. An uneasy feeling washed over her and she couldn't shake it - it was an overwhelming, unequivocal feeling deep in the very essence of her soul that Professor River Song should never walk into a library again.
She took a breath and turned toward River to face her, unclasping their hands and digging them in River's bouncy curls, pulling her closer and placing River's lips on hers. With all the passion and might she could muster, she slipped her tongue in which the professor welcomed. She let go and stepped back.
"Don't ever go into a library," the Doctor stated as matter of fact.
River gave a strange look but said, "Ok."
"I mean it River, promise me," the Doctor said sternly and full of emotion.
"I promise Jane," River said quietly.
And just like that, the Doctor changed her whole demeanour. "What century is this and where are we?" the Doctor said warmly.
River chose to ignore what had just happened and to get on with their date. "Well, sweetie, we're in the 23rd century on the planet The Infernal Moon, which consists of a library, a restaurant, and a museum. We are here to celebrate their 150th anniversary. I brought you because I thought you would like it. And I need to find something to do an archaeology paper on for my students. But first, I promised you dinner and dancing so let's eat."
They walked towards the seated area which was to the middle left of the entrance to the building and about 10 steps away from where they had landed. They sat on a table that was set for two. There was an elegant linen table cloth lining the round table with two iron framed chairs sitting on either side and three delicate red tulips in a small simple vase in the middle. They both sat down and ordered their simple, small meals.
While they waited it gave them time to talk.
River didn't quite know how to approach the subject of asking if the Doctor had decided to stay on full time at the university so she came straight out with it.
"Have you thought about the offer the dean gave you?" River enquired picking up her wine glass and taking a sip.
The Doctor looked up at the professor and stopped fiddling with her hands. She was quite nervous being on a date with a woman, she hadn't been on a date for a very long time. It was that long ago she could barely remember her name; the only thing she did remember was that the woman was named after a flower.
"Actually I have been thinking about it a lot and I was going to tell you later tonight, but I have decided to accept the offer and stay full time," the Doctor replied with enthusiasm.
River smiled at the news she just heard. "That's brilliant Sweetie, may I ask for the reason you have decided to stay?" She placed her wine glass back on the table and gave the woman opposite her an inquiring look.
The Doctor laughed when she thought about the answer to River's question. "There is a list - well a book. More like a series of books. Well, small library," she rambled.
River laughed slightly at The Doctor's ramblings. "Instead of giving me a library of reasons, give me some of the most important ones."
The Doctor smiled and nodded. "One of the reasons would be I can find out about myself, and maybe gain…" She shook her head, not wanting to go down that avenue of thought. River gave her a questioning look. "Anyway. I would have access to the Time Lord part of the archive without having to sneak in." She smiled and looked River in the eyes, seeing her eyes light up.
"There goes my fun," River mock huffed, making them both chuckle.
"The two most important reasons are a little girl called Amaya who has worked her way into my heart. And her stunning mother who makes my heart race every time she walks into the room. Everyone looks at her but to know she is mine makes me swell with pride. I know it may not have been long since we had first met but as cheesy as it sounds, it feels like I have known you for a long time."
River blushed at the Doctor's words which rarely happened, even with her husband. She was the one always making him blush. She did it so well.
"Thank you, I'm lost for words." She truly was, it was such a kind thing to say after the life she had.
The Doctor stood up a little and reached over the table and gave River a small kiss full of promise on the lips.
They smiled at each other.
Their meals soon arrived and were eaten quickly.

River led the Doctor towards the back point of the triangle where there was a makeshift DJ booth equipped with two large speakers, as well as a medium-size dance floor making a smaller triangle inside the large room.
The Doctor placed her hands on River's hips, whilst River placed her hand on the smaller blonde's shoulders. There was a height difference even without River wearing heels, but it was especially prominent when she was at least 5 or more inches between the pair. But this only meant the Doctor was able to get closer to the professor, leaning her head against River's chest as they started to sway. They both listened to the rhythmic sound of the speakers playing some acoustic love song that had been remixed horribly but they didn't care, they were just enjoying each other's company.
As they continued to dance, the Doctor closed her eyes and tuned out the music playing in the background and instead decided to listen to River's beating heart. Thump, thump. For some reason, the sound of just one heartbeat filled her with overwhelming joy. Two hearts would be just silly. She laughed quietly to herself. River moved her hand so now it was on the small of her back and with that move, she heard River's heart speed up. She smiled inwardly, knowing if anyone was listening right now, her heart would be heard from across the large room.
"As much as I'm enjoying this sweetie, I need to go have a look at the artefact for the paper I'm writing. I need you to stay here," River stated.
The Doctor gave her a puzzled look but chose not to question and simply nodded. She watched as River walked off towards the museum and she twiddled with her thumbs before deciding to sit down at the earlier table.

15 minutes later.
The Doctor had been sitting down for 15 minutes not knowing what to do with herself and was about to go looking for River. She stood up and walked a couple of steps forward when she felt a pair of arms wrap around her middle from behind. Her heart started pounding in her chest, her breathing quickened and panic set in quickly. She took a deep breath and smelt the familiar smell of leather and spice that was River. She took a deep breath calming her racing heart.
"You need to take my hand and run," River whispered in the Doctor's ear.
The Doctor spun around and looked at River questionably, and was about to ask why when the professor quickly placed her lips on the Doctor's entwined fingers and began to run towards a lift.
They had reached the lift when alarms started blaring through the building and all the steel shutters slammed down at every point, including the front and back entrance. The lifts also stopped working, stopping their escape.
She watched River quickly assess the situation and, with their fingers still entwined, ran towards the emergency fire escape which led to stairs that reached every floor.
"Why do I always feel like this is the way your dates always end?" the Doctor asked when they had reached the first-floor hallway.
"Only the people who I really like get a date like this," River replied cheekily.
"Is there always running?" the Doctor huffed out of breath.
"Love the running," she laughed and continued to run up the stairs. The Doctor had no choice but to follow River.
They had reached the second floor and the Doctor looked at the professor who looked like she hadn't even broken a sweat. And how she managed two run up two flights of stairs in those killer heels was beyond her. The Doctor felt like a sweaty mess and if she were to guess, her short blond hair was probably all over the place.
"We should be safe here for a few moments. I just need to input the coordinates to my house and we can zap away."
The Doctor huffed and grimaced at the prospect of using the Vortex Manipulator again. Thinking, now if she had a Tardis, like a Time Lord, that would be a great way to travel. She smiled at the thought before River grabbed her hand, placing it on top of her own and zapped out the hallway

They arrived, but there was a slight miscalculation on River's part; instead of arriving inside River's home, they had arrived in her back garden, but more specifically, River's rather large heated pool.
The Doctor started treading water as she watched River climb out of the pool and had to admit to herself, with River's clothes sticking to her, it showed more of her figure and her ass perfectly. She hummed to herself admiring the view.
"Like the view?" River smirked.
The Doctor blushed like a schoolgirl being caught cheating on a test but gained a little confidence. "Yes," she whispered.
"Me too, now let's get you out of those wet clothes."
The Doctor nodded and got out of the pool and walked towards the house.

20 minutes later
River had checked on Amaya and thanked Skye for looking after her daughter. She had grabbed two large bath towels on the way to her bedroom, gesturing for the Doctor to follow even though she felt quite shy about entering the woman's bedroom.
River passed the Doctor a towel to wrap around herself after she had quickly gotten out of her wet clothes and was now sheepishly sitting in just her underwear and a towel on River's bed.
She looked around the room and saw a gold-painted 4 poster wooden bed, which she was sitting on, and (Tardis) blue painted walls accent with gold picture frames. The room was truly stunning in its own way. She didn't want to ruin what they had tonight but she appreciates how much trust River had given her by letting her see her bedroom. She summarised that River didn't let just anyone in there.
She was brought out her thoughts when she saw that River was just in a towel as well and she couldn't help but admire River's body, and the thought of her naked body being against hers made any coherent thought impossible
The Doctor stood up, giving into temptation and for once giving in to her desire. She made sure the towel was scarcely wrapped around her body and walked up behind the professor, stopping her from doing whatever mundane task she was completing. She slowly grazed the back of her index finger against River's shoulders, watching her squirm under her touch.
"You are beautiful, professor," she hummed softly.
River turned around to face the shorter woman. The Doctor looked up at her and ran her fingers through River's slightly wet but still bouncy curls. Space hair, she thought. But didn't say anything.
"The most beautiful woman I have ever seen," she said again, facing her.
The Doctor inched her face towards River's and the professor did the same, and their lips touched and a fire burned deep within her that she had never felt before.
"We should move towards the bed," River suggested seductively. She led the Doctor towards the bed, hopeful for what the night would bring.
Notes;
sg1jeditardis, River does not recognise The Doctor because River is set post-Manhattan, pre-Darillium so she hasn't met the next two doctors past 11. to answer your second question as there are no scheduled updates thus far just as and when I write them :)
