By the next morning nagate is already awake and making breakfast, Hoshijiro wakes up to the smell and follows it then to her surprise sees nagate cooking. Hoshijiro-Good morning. Nagate turns around with a smile and says Oh good morning hoshijiro I hope your hungry then shows that he made scrambled eggs, Hoshijiro- It looks delicious but how is there food on here if the ship has been in the ice for this long. Nagate- The fridge and cabinets were restocked with food when I came in, looks like they were trying to fix it up when it flew off afterwards and the food came with it, Hoshijiro- How much do we have?, Nagate- Three to five months at most. Hoshijiro- Do you think you'll be able to fix your engine before then.
Nagate- Maybe but I won't know till I look at. Let's eat up before this get cold. Hoshijiro- Agreed. They then both dig in and enjoy their food together, they talk for a bit and have some laughs then they finish up. Once they cleaned up, they automatically head for the engine room to examine the problem. Hoshijiro-So what needs to be fixed?, Nagate climbs up on a latter then says The system that sends power to the engines burnt out when it came here I need to take out the parts and try to fix them to we can try to jump start it to activate the ftl systems, Hoshijiro- ftl?, Nagate- It's a system that allows Valkyrie to move faster than at sub light., Hoshijiro- Amazing. If Sidonia had that technology, we be able to escape the gauna.
Nagate looks down to see her with a sad face until nagate slides down the later and stands in front of hoshijiro then puts a figure on her nose with a smile and says Don't worry as soon as were back I'm going to make shore Sidonia will have a fully operation ftl system so Sidonia can escape the gauna and not have to risk pilots anymore that's a promise, Hoshijiro- Ok. After that nagate grabs his tools and starts to take out the damaged parts. Hoshijiro watches for a bit then leaves to explore the ship, later nagate manages to take out all the parts and assess the damage then realizes hoshijiro isn't there. He begins looking for her then sees her looking at something where his inventions are. Nagate- You ok Hoshijiro?, Hoshijiro- Yeah I just wanted to explore your ship a bit while you were working. Nagate with a curios face says Wait a minute I thought you said this ship frighten you? Hoshijiro with a nervous look says well not entirely I mean it still frightens me though a bit as she looks at him. Nagate with a smile forms a fist and says hey were cool, Hoshijiro looks at him with a surprised look then fist bumps him back. Nagate- Come on I manage to take all the damaged parts out and I could us your help with repairing them.
While walking back she asks what the suit was in the room, Nagate- It's a flight suit I made for pilots that have artificial limbs. When they connect to it it will enhance their scanners while flying and feel like they're the actual aircraft but it just a protype suit never had a chance for someone to try it out., Hoshijiro- I see, it does look cool with the white and black on it. Nagate- Yeah, I wasn't shore what color to use until I added those and thought it was beautiful. Hoshijiro-I see. They arrived at the engine room, and he begins to show her what needs to be fixed then begins to help him, hours later they manage to fix some of the parts until nagate decides to stop for a break.
Nagate goes to the bridge to sit in the captain's chair and looks out window towards the stars to think. Eventually hoshijiro comes in with food and says here, Nagate-Thank you looks good. Hoshijiro smiles at him, and they both eat, eventually they finish and begin to enjoy each other's company until hoshijiro says something, Hoshijiro-It looks peaceful out there, Nagate- You got that right. She then rests her head on his chair and says Where did the gauna cluster come from, how many are there, Nagate-Huh, Hoshijiro- Sometimes I think about stuff like that. Is it really a seed ship or could it be a nest? We haven't figured out anything new since we first came in to contact, I mean we've never successfully communicated with them. But the first gauna that fell to earth were shaped like people it was around two hundred years after first contact, but it was the first time it happened.
Actually, I think it's possible that the gauna really want to be friends with humanity. It's just that were so different we still haven't figured out the best way to communicate with each other, if only we could find a way just to talk with them. Nagate- But what would be point?, Hoshijiro- What do you mean?, Nagate gets up goes to the window and Says If you we able to talk to communicate with them what could they say to change anything about how we feel towards them they destroyed your earth without warning and scattered the human race to the stars and yet they still come after you a thousand years later just like the dredge did with my home,
Hoshijiro- What are you talking?, he turns around and says My earth wasn't cut in half like your earth was it was destroyed by the dredge blown up completely. Hoshijiro-Did your earth at least build seed ships?, Nagate- We built ships but they weren't seed ships they were only evac shuttles and star liners. Many of them managed to escape but some were destroyed by dredge stingers and earths debris that was fifteen years ago when I was still a kid. Hoshijiro- Wait fifteen years ago but then how? Nagate-I'm not shore but all find out eventually right now I want to help defend Sidonia and its people. Hoshijiro smiles then hugs him, Nagate- What's this for?, Hoshijiro- It just I'm glad that you're here who knows what would have happened if you weren't. Nagate hugs her back and jokingly says if I wasn't here, I wouldn't have been able to rescue you, Hoshijiro blushes a bit with a smile and replies with yeah. Nagate- Come on let's head back all need help with testing out the parts to see if they'll work. Hoshijiro replies with ok then they both head out but before they enter the engine room something small goes flying by them.
They see a small splatter on the wall and hoshijiro ask what was that. Nagate looks at the splatter then recognizes it then turns his head around and says oh crud. Hoshijiro asks what is it? She sees a weird drone flying down the hall then Hoshijiro asks What is that? nagate quickly grabs her hand and says RUN FOR IT. They run from drone down the hall while it fires at them,
Hoshijiro- What is it that nagate and what's it firing at us? Nagate- It robot drone I made, and its firing paint balls all explain later right now just keep running. They run through dozens of corridors while avoiding getting hit by the drone until they he sees an open room then shouts head that way and hoshijiro goes to it. They manage get in then hide on both sides of the door, the drone doesn't see them and passes by them then nagate quietly tries to close the door, but the drone hears it and opens fire on nagate nearly ten feet away but luckily the door closes in time. Hoshijiro says Few that was close one right nagate, but she sees him fall over and replies your hit. Nagate-I'm ok but I'm definitely going to feel that in the morning. Hoshijiro-Do's it hurt?, Nagate- Just a little bit but all be ok. He gets up and recognizes what room he's in. Nagate- Looks like I chose the right room., Hoshijiro- What is this place?, Nagate- It some of my old cosplay suits I made.
Hoshijiro- These look amazing nagate you definitely would win the gravity costume contest., Nagate- Sidonia has a costume contest? Hoshijiro- Yeah. I've never entered but did see some amazing costumes especially shinatose's costume since she won last year. Nagate-Izana likes that kind of stuff?, Hoshijiro- Yeah ever since she was little. Nagate- You'll have to tell me about contest after we take down that drone? Hoshijiro asks how? nagate pulls out a disk looking thing from a crate and says with emp bomb, but we need to distract it and were not going back out there like this. He then goes to one of suits and puts it on then starts to help hoshijiro with hers. Hoshijiro- What suit is this suppose to be?, Nagate-It a knight suit I got the idea from a book my mother read to me when I was young.
Hoshijiro- I see. He finishes putting on her armor then they grab their shields and go to each side of the door. Hoshijiro-So what's the plan? Nagate- I need you to be the decoy so that way I can get behind it and activate the emp. Hoshijiro-Alright. Nagate opens the door nods at hoshijiro telling her all clear and goes out into the hall, she searches until she 'sees it down the hall and yells Hey you bucket of bults over here. The drone sees her then begins to chase and shoot at her. While its distracted nagate manages to quietly sneak up behind it and is about to throw the emp when one of the guns on drone spins around and starts to fire at nagate. He yells oh crap and lifts up his shield quickly before the paintballs could hit him, Hoshijiro yells what do we do we do now? Nagate- Lets go with plan b, Hoshijiro- What's plan b?, Nagate- You're going to get behind and use me as shield so you can then roll the emp right under it. Head down that hallway to get around all distract it.,
Hoshijiro- Roger that. She quickly rushes down the hall then the drone turns both its guns at nagate and fires at him getting a beating out of it until hoshijiro comes up from behind and gives him her shield. Nagate-Thanks. Alright were going to rush the drone and once were up close to it press the blue button on top. Hoshijiro- Is that going to hurt if you rush it like that?, Nagate-I can take it I just don't want you to get hurt. Hoshijiro blushes under her helmet and says oh ok then get behind him then he says we go on three ready?, Hoshijiro-Ready. He yells one, two, three charge and rushed forward with both of them screaming.
The drone fires dozens of rounds at them but nagate manages to deflect them and gets covered in paint but manages to keep going then yells hoshijiro now. She presses the button and slides it under him until it stops under the drone and activates knocking the drones' systems offline and falls to the floor. After seeing the drone go down, they both then collapse on the floor to breath then look at each other and notice that they are both covered in paint head to toe and start to laugh at each other. Hoshijiro-I think that's the most fun I had in years. Nagate-Same here. Hey, let get a photo of us like this., Hoshijiro-id like that. Nagate smiles then pops out his camera and they get into position both smiling then takes the picture. After he get its he looks at it and says we look so silly. Hoshijiro- Indeed we do. Nagate replies with a small laugh then says Now I'm going to take this armor off and take a bath
Hoshijiro-ok. Nagate walks away to the bath with hoshijiro looking down at her armor sad but then nagate turns around seeing her sad and says You ok hoshijiro?, Hoshijiro makes a fake smile and says I'm ok just a little sore from the action is all but then nagates goes to her and says Alright out with it hoshijiro what's bothering you? Hoshijiro- What do you mean?, Nagate- I mean something been bothering you before we took off to retrieve the Kabizashi so out with it what's really bothering you? Hoshijiro cheeks turn red then she tries to muster up the courage to tell him but couldn't and instead says I'm ok nagate nothings bothering me I promise.
Nagate forms a concerning look and says if you say o then goes to take a bath. While walking she asks if she could join him again and he says yes you can come. Once there they take off their armor, get into the tube then put their backs against each other and begin to rinse down until hoshijiro ask him something. Hoshijiro- Hey nagate? Nagate-What's up? Hoshijiro-Your maps that show that star system do you know how you'll find it? Nagate-Not really without an actually map to guide me it could take years just to find this system.
Hoshijiro- Maybe you could look at Sidonia's map they could help you at least point you in the right direction., Nagate-Maybe but I doubt it who knows if all be able to get back to my universe and see my people. Hoshijiro-I understand. She then musters up enough courage again and then turns around pressing her chest on his back and putting her arms around him with nagate surprised then says in soft tone I'm shore that you'll see them like you said we have to have hope. Nagate forms a smile then replies with your right hoshijiro thank you and then turns to hug her but then realizes what he did, and his cheeks turn bright so dos hoshijiro but then calms down and hugs him back and says your welcome. They then let go of each other and get out of the water to dry off then change.
Hoshijiro walks out in her pink sweater nagate gave to her then sees him coming out he goes to put his ring on when it accidently slips out of his fingers and falls off, Hoshijiro reacts quickly and manages to catch it before it could roll into a vent. Nagate- Nice catch. She replies with thank you but before she gives it back she sees something on the inside and asks what that on the inside of your ring?, nagate goes to her and sees circuits on the inside and says I don't know I never noticed it. He looks at it for bit then realizes something he changes quickly then goes to his room with hoshijiro following him asking what is it , he gets there and pulls out a small pen then hoshijiro asks what are you doing and he says your about to see as he uses the tip of the pen to press the circuits inside the ring showing glowing lines coming out then puts it on his finger and is surprised at what he just discovered.
Hoshijiro-What is that?, Nagate- It's what I've been looking for, it's the map to titan. Hoshijiro- Titan you mean the ship you saw from your dreams?, Nagate forms a smile and says Yeah if it weren't for you noticing it I never would have found it. Hoshijiro blushes a bit then says you welcome nagate. He then gets up grabs hoshijiro hand and say come on let's get those engines back online so we can get back. Hoshijiro-right. They head to the engine room, and once there hoshijiro helps nagate put back the parts he repaired and once he puts the last one in, he says you head to the bridge to monitor the engines,
Hoshijiro- Should I stay here just in case?, Nagate- No If this doesn't work I don't want you anywhere near the engines I want you on the bridge where its safe, Hoshijiro-But nagate?, Nagate- This is my ship Hoshi all be dammed if you get hurt on here. Hoshijiro blushes a bit then says ok but just be careful then with a smile nagate says When have I not been carful then goes to the console. Before leaving nagate hands her a radio to keep in contact, Hoshijiro leaves and once arrives at bridge she pulls out the radio and says Ok nagate I'm here. Nagate-Roger. I'm going to try to start up the engines at low power keep an eye on the system just in case.
Hoshijiro- I will. Nagate then starts flipping switches and activates the engine at low power, the systems rumble to life after being activated gear turning and pumps going up and down. Nagate- Alright systems are looking steady I'm going to raise it up to fifty percent. Hoshijiro-ok. He then pushes the lever up halfway and the engine starts to go faster until he starts to hear an alarm. Hoshijiro-Nagate the system showing red lights in the areas you repaired the parts.
Nagate-Dam it their going to blow I got to shut it down. He gets to the console quickly and manages to decrease the power a bit but then disaster strikes as one of the parts explodes near nagate. On the bridge hoshijiro is screaming nagate name and asking if he alright but doesn't reply on the radio. She begins to cry then hears him over the radio.
Nagate coughs then says I'm ok I managed to get out of the engine room before it exploded guess, I got lucky but then doesn't here her reply back. Nagate asks if she's ok but still doesn't here a response from her. He then goes to the bridge to see hoshijiro curled up in a ball crying he goes to her asking hey what's wrong? She looks up then hugs him and says I thought you were dead. Nagate-I'm sorry I made you worry. Hoshijiro- Just promise you'll be more careful. Nagate-I promise. But I'm afraid I have bad news. Hoshijiro- Don't tell me. Nagate makes a sad face and says The parts that exploded did more damage to the engines and I don't know if all be able to fix it. I'm sorry hoshijiro but I don't know if all be able to get you home. Hoshijiro-Its ok. At least your alive that's all that matters., Nagate- Yeah., Hoshijiro-Come on let's see what we can salvage from it., Nagate-right. They get up and then as they are about to leave hoshijiro looks out the window and says It cant be?, Nagate-What is it?.
He looks out the window to see a glow then a massive ring appears right in front of him and says what is that light Are those guards? Hoshijiro-It looks like a two five six clasp formation. Nagate-I don't believe it they came back for us. Hoshijiro-Ah huh. Nagate with a smile says yes were saved we made it then his radio comes on. Person- Nagate, hoshijiro do you copy?, Nagate-I copy, who am I speaking with. Person-I'm samari I a of the defense squad. Nagate- Its pleasure to meet you. Samari- Like wise, I want you two to suit up and meet us on the outside of your ship. The guards are going to attach themselves to your ship and tow it in. Nagate- Thank you mam. They then suit up and head outside as the guards attach themselves to the Valkyrie.
Samari-Command we have secured the survivors. Mr. Sei-Understood, I've never heard of an entire defense team to break protocol before I hope your prepared to take responsibility for this. Samari- Yes, we are full prepared. Mr. Sei-How should we proceed with this captain? Kobayashi-Do you really thing Sidonia has the faculty to lock up two hundred and fifty-seven pilots lets be practical about this, that will be all. They then hear wahoo and cheering over the radio with Mr. Sei making a smile and saying their idiots a bunch of idiots every single one of them.
Back with nagate he and hoshijiro are being guided to the guards that are linked with each other then she says to nagate thank you and Nagate replies with a smile and says Your welcome, he then gets into the cockpit and is greeted by the pilot. Tsuruuchi-You ready to head back new hero of Sidonia. Nagate- What new hero what do you mean? Tsuruuchi-You'll find out soon enough once were back. Samari- Unit zero, zero, seven cut the chatter, Tsuruuchi- Understood. Samari-Alright let's get back to Sidonia. All the guards rev up their engines then she says all unit's full speed ahead and all of them including the guards towing Valkyrie head for home.
