The crew of Sidonia are in shock of what they are seeing including the immortal ship council. They say it cannot be and What is the meaning of this then they begin to access the files of it but end up getting denied because Kobayashi had restricted them from doing so and say dam her. Days earlier professor Yuri is invited by Ochiai to Kunato development and upon entering the lower levels she sees pink stuff growing all over the wall and floor until she sees a massive alien like body standing in front of her making her frighten then falling over. In secs a few tentacles surround her, and she swats them away thinking they will kill her but instead they help her up and after words a small pocket opens up on the alien body revealing to be Ochiai as Kunato. Yuri-Ku-Kunato what is the meaning of this? Ochiai-Its exactly what it looks like I have created a hybrid. Yuri-How could you shirley you know of the disaster from a hundred years ago.
Ochiai-Yes but as a scientist you should be able to appreciate the significance of this research Yuri-How are you going to explain this to the captain? Ochiai-That's the reason I called for you doctor shinatose in order for me to complete my work I am going to require a much larger facility I have to convince the captain to cooperate, so I am going to need your help. Yuri thinks about it while Ochiai says in his head she is a brilliant scientist I don't want to use the sidonian blood mimatode on her if I can avoid it then Yuri looks up and agrees to help. Present day the crew informs the squads the unidentified gauna heigus particle cannon made a direct hit on gauna 549 and has lost twenty percent of its ena. Nagate-Ren you, ok? Ren-Yes I'm fine but what is that thing? Nagate replies I don't know but it seems to resemble a gauna although…tsumugi looks at him then she looks down seeing the ena cannon disintegrate. Ochiai-It seems the ena cannon we hastily put together is coming apart will have to destroy the enemy a different way. You know what you have to do.
Tsumugi-Yes father. In secs a bright light coms underneath her and then she zooms away making ren say it disappeared and nagate looking towards the big gauna to see tsumugi attacking it. Everyone it surprised at what's going on including nagate then Tsuruuchi asks are you ok nagate? Nagate-I'm fine. Tsuruuchi-Get away from there we can take them out while their fighting each other. I wont miss not while I'm this close. Nagate tries to get him to stop but then sees one of the blackguards rush towards Tsuruuchi and knock him away but Tsuruuchi ends up firing and his shot skims the back of tsumugi causing her to fall and the gauna manages to grab hold of her. As the tentacles move in to make the final kill nagate comes flying slicing the tentacles to free her. Tsuruuchi asks nagate what are you doing, and he replies with this gauna isn't an enemy making Tsuruuchi say what's that. Tsumugi destroys the last tentacle that after getting to a safe distance tsumugi says thank you whoever you are piloting the tsugumori. Ren-That's voice hoshijiro?
Nagate-What are you, you don't seem to be the crimson hawkmoth. Tsumugi begins to say no I'm but is interrupted by the crew saying the ena surrounding the gauna core is regenerating. Yuhata-Guard squad prioritize in destroying the gaunas core. Ochi-That won't be necessary sub commander. Yuhata-Who is that rush the analysis on where that signal coming from and the guards escorting new gauna. Crew-Judging from the heigus interference wave pattern its definitely a gauna. Crew-The resolution is still poor but were getting an internal analysis now a human life form has been detected inside the new gauna.
Yuhata-Ah a human. Crew-The guards escorting it resemble nothing we have there's no data on them. Yuhata orders them to get a clear visual and when they do yuhata is scared to death. Yuhata-It can't be project blackguard but how could it nagate you seeing this? Nagate-I am how is it already mass produced and where did they get the tech to make it run? Yuhata-I, I don't know. The black guards surrounding tsumugi fly above the gauna and then before they could do anything three massive anergy rings come out from the gauna tsumugi tries to warn the guards but by then it's too late and three guards are destroyed while the black guards remain intact due to their shields. Black guard pilot-Shields remain intact all units prepare to fire heigus beam collectors. Black pilots- Affirmative. The blackguards form a circle near the gauna then all at once they fire their cannons on to the gauna surface and when they impact it the surface begins to disintegrate. Nagate-What's going on yuhata? Yuhata-I don't know where examine it now. Crew-The new guards appear to be draining the heigus particle from the gauna and it weaken the surface of the ena. Yuhata-How can that be?
After the blackguards stop tsumugi moves into positions then begins to glow up and says father do I still need to hold back. Ochiai-This seems like a good opportunity show me what you can do. The crew inform yuhata that the second gaunas heigus particles continue to increase then in secs tsumugi flies towards the gauna smashing through it and destroying the core making it disintegrate. The incident leaves nagate and yuhata in shock then samari says command what are your orders for this gauna and the guards escorting it. Yuhata hesitates at what to say then the captain come down saying there's no need to do anything. Yuhata-Captain. Captain-That is not a gauna its one of Sidonia's new weapons including the new guards, Kunato explain. Nagate-Kunato did this. Ochai-The weapon that destroyed the enemy moments a go is no gauna it is a hybrid specimen. It is a biological lifeform with a consciousness just like human beings. The mechs escorting the hybrid are a new breed of gaurds developed by Kunato development. The immortal ship council watches then one of them says Kobayashi she's recreated ochai's lost research especially those blackguards.
Man-It's time we question her sanity. Women-She's spent to long in a living body. Her brain may be experiencing the effects of gravity sickness. Older man-We can't let her do as she pleases any longer. She must be dealt with immediately. Man-We will have to act directly and swiftly, lets us begin Kobayashi impeachment hearing. Back with nagate he and the guards have made it back to the hanger and as he's walking to go change tanba notices something up. Tanba-Nagate what happened to your left arm? Nagate-Oh I guess it must have happened in the battle all be fine. Tanba-Well it doesn't look fine. Nagate-Oh sorry tanba I damaged the tsugumori again.
Tanba-Yes but you damaged it while fighting the gauna you're doing very well. Will always be here to fix up the guards you don't need to worry about it. Nagate-ah thank you so much. Tanba-Now hurry up and go get your arm fixed. Nagate-I will but before I go did you hear about those new guards that showed up. Tanba- I did and quite frankly it scares me. Nagate-How was Kunato development even able to build it all the blueprints and data were destroyed. Tanba-I'm not shore but all find out more when I go talk with Kunato.
Nagate says thank you to Tanba then leaves to go change and once he finishes, he starts to fix his arm. Elsewhere Kunato is with Kobayashi, Yuri and Mako to extract all research information from Ochiai's auxiliary brain and succeeds. She then says I'm restricting access all of ochiai's research I'm the only one who will have direct access leaving Ochiai as Kunato upset then says if you'll excuse me, I need to go prepare for the assembly then mako follows. Once they are away mako says to Kunato What the hell Kunato I wasn't ready to reveal project blackguard now everyone knows about it. Ochiai-All the better so people will start to doubt nagate. Mako-What are talking about the people don't doubt him anymore now that he's an ace pilot. Ochiai-But they will once you reveal that it was his technology that saved Sidonia. Mako steps back a bit then says how do you know about that I never told anyone I took his tech.
Ochiai turns around looks at him in the eyes and says it's because your easy to read just like when you were an infant my son. Mako-Father is it really you. Ochiai-It is, when this fool stepped into my lab, I was sealed in my small guardian immobilized him while he was holding the vile, I was in and I was able to take control of him and now that I do our plans can continue. Mako bows before him then says Since you're passing, I have continued your work in secret and once I acquired the tech to build your guards, I found the right people to pilot them then he pulls out a tablet and shows him the pilots.
Ochiai-Very good you chose well but what about this pilot why her? Mako-Because she has formed an attachment with Sidonia's ace pilot and if he figures out what I did to her she'll be our insurance policy for dealing with him. Mako-Very good mako I always liked the way you think.
Mako-Thank you father. Ochiai-Now come we must prepare. Mako- At the assembly I don't want to reveal the faces of the pilots just yet. Ochiai-May I ask why? Mako-Because when the right time comes, I want to see his face when he finds out it was her this entire time. Ochiai replies very well then heads to Kunato development to prepare. Back with nagate he is with yuhata by a balcony and trying to reach izana but to no aval. Nagate-Dam it why isn't she picking up? Yuhata-Is something wrong nagate? Nagate-I can't get through to izana I've called her five times already. Any idea where she could be? Yuhata-No idea hours before the gauna attacked I saw her by the dorms and tried to talk to her, but she said she was in a rush to her guard training. Nagate-Guard training again? Yuhata-yeah why do you think she's hiding something? Nagate replies with I don't know then says yuhata that hybrid that called herself tsumugi do you think it has human consciousness.
Yuhata-I'm not shore. Nagate-She was forced to face the gauna as soon as she was born into this world, I pity her. Yuhata-Nagate I hm. Nagate says dam then scarfs down his lunch and says in his head I decided I wasn't backing down not from anything not until I destroy every last gauna so I can go home then their wrist coms go off saying the assembly in the auditorium, they quickly finish their lunch and while heading out nagate starts to look through his memories on his arm. Mean while the assembly has started, all the pilots and staff workers watch from the podium as they see Kunato and mako rise up on a lift. Kunato-I will now offer an explanation regarding the hybrid specimen. As the name implies this hybrid is a cross between human and gauna, in other words it is the ultimate life form with a human mind and the gaunas strength. With that said let me formally introduce you. The doors behind him open revealing it to be tsumugi and makes the people frightened a bit then she says thank you all for allowing me to participate in your last engagement. I am the hybrid tsumugi shiraui, I hope we can get to know each other, and I looks forward to working together. Women-Are there any insurances it won't start eating people or spew out contaminates like a gauna. Ochiai-That is not a possibility her personality is pure. Old man-The generation who lived through that catastrophe a hundred years a go will never except a proposition such as this one. Man- Scientist Ochiai nearly destroyed Sidonia with this monstrosity. Ochiai-The reason for his failure was an adequate control measure. These new hybrids do not need to be piloted all it needs is to receive a simple order also we are able to shut down the hybrids incase of an emergency. Sasaki-I'm not convinced one bit. Man-Question. Tsumugi-Hm yes please go ahead. Man-Your half gauna aren't you so any reluctance in killing a gauna? Tsumugi-I am not the same as the gauna so there is no reluctance however it was a bit frightening.
Mr. Sei-That almost sounds like a human response. Tsuruuchi- She looks like she's well developed I need to apologize for shooting at her, I guess. While she continues talking nagate walks in the auditorium and sees ren by the edge then goes her. She asks her if she's seen izana but ren tells she has not and while they continue talking tsgumugi sees him then asks Ochiai is that the pilot of the tsugumori. Ochiai replies with yes do you wish to speak with him? Tsumugi replies with yes then Ochiai yells pilot nagate. Nagate acknowledges him then Ochiai says tsumugi has something she would like to say to you. Nagate says ok then step forward near the edge where everyone watches him then tsumugi says pilot nagate thank you for rescuing me from the gauna you are noble and brave pilot sidonia. Nagate smiles and replies your welcome tsumugi. Tsumugi-And now without further a due mako will explain the guards you saw. Mako says thank you tsumugi then hits a few buttons and underneath the floor a door opens and raises up the black guards everyone saw. Mako-I will now explain what these are.
The blackguard project was restarted to help protect Sidonia from the gauna and to escort the hybrid to them. The crew mumble about what he says then a Man says-Ochai was the one who originally created these why would you build these. Mako-Because unlike the mk 18 these new guards have more advanced weapons than its predecessor. As some of you witnessed earlier the guards heigus cannon can suck out the particles from any gauna and use it to power their weapons, shields even its engines. Women-You're telling us that Sidonia's research division have already developed stronger weapons and shields? Mako-Yes at first, they were having trouble with it but with some outside help we were able to develop it then choose four candidates to pilot them but unfortunately, we will not be revealing the pilots due to a security risk.
The crowd talks among their self's saying maybe this is a good thing and they could help but they then they see nagate get up on a stand all angry and yells YOU SON A OF A BITCH YOU'RE THE ONE WHO STOLE THE TECH FROM MY SHIP AND ATTACKED ME. Ren-What are you talking about nagate? Nagate turns around in frustration and yells the tech that's in those guards was stolen from my ship and during the asteroid battle one of them attacked me. Ren-Wait that tech is from the Valkyrie? Nagate-Yeah, when I was going through my ship, I noticed a download of all my files except for one, and I didn't know who did it until now. He then turns to mako and says mako that tech you installed on the guard wasn't met to be used as weapons they were meant to be used to make agricultural tools to help the human race grow crops when they found a habitable word. Mako laughs then says agricultural tools I find that silly. Why hide your tech when it could be used for a better purpose. Nagate-Not like this take that tech or all have it removed my self. Mako starts to get upset then he starts to hear yelling but not at him the crowd is goes for nagate.
They yell at him you had this tech for so long how could you and you should have shared it with Sidonia to help us. They begin to gang up on him while nagate tries to explain his reason until someone throws a wrench at him hitting him in the face making him fall off the podium ren tries to reach for him but misses. Mako sneaks a small smile thinking this is the end for him but one of the black guards' steps forward and catches him making is smile fade. The mechs hand is then lifted to where ren is and before she could do anything nagates arm begins playing a video from his memories.
Everyone in the room sees a planet in front of them and notice its earth with dozens of ships fleeing the planet then they see the drej mother ship fire at the top of it making the citizens frightened and while Ochiai watches he notices the titan flying by then vanishes and says in his head well now so that's why you want to get back your mother built the titan project before I could. The memory ends then ren carefully lifts him off the mechs hand with yuhata's help then escort him out before anyone could do anything.
Nagate wakes up to find him self in his dorm with ren putting a bandage on his head and yuhata siting in chair then he asks what happened? Ren-Someone through a wrench at you and you fell over but luckily one of the black mechs saved you by raising its hand to catch you and lift you back up, we brought you here so nobody could hurt you. Nagate-Thanks guys. Yuhata-Uh nagate something else happened while you were unconscious. Nagate-What? Yuhata-Everybody saw what happen to your earth the memory was playing from your artificial arm. Nagate-I see well I guess the secrets out now. Ren-Were you on the planet before it was destroyed? Nagate-I was. I was in the forest with my best friend testing our invention then in mins my mother came and puts us on the nearest evac craft and when the earth exploded, we could feel the shock wave coming from it. Ren-Im so sorry nagate.
Nagate-Its ok. Yuhata-How many ships managed to escape the planet? Nagate-I don't know possibly five or eight thousand maybe ten some of them were shot down by drej before they could exit the atmosphere and once the earth was gone the remaining survivors created drifter colonies, we couldn't risk colonizing a planet with the drej still out there. Yuhata-I see. Ren-In the memory there was one ship that was different from the others? Nagate-It was my mother's ship the titan. Ren-So that's reason why you want to get back. Nagate-That's one of the reasons, Yuhata-Nagate had told us it could reunite the human race. Ren-Reunite the human race how? Nagate-I don't know but what I do know is I need to find it before the drej do. Ren-How? Nagate takes off his glove and shows it to ren saying with this it's a map to her it can help us find the titan. Ren-I see
As he finishes speaking, they hear a knock-on door and as it opens, they see its izana. Izana says Hey everyone sorry I wasn't at the assembly I was ah then sees nagate with a bandage on his head and rushes over to him. Izana replies What happened nagate did someone do this to you then nagate takes her hand and says I'm fine izana but what about you I called you five times and you didn't answer I was getting worried. Izana-I'm sorry nagate my grandma was training me. Ren-Training for what? Izana-I had some trouble with flying my guard, so my grandma is going to be helping me. Nagate-Ok just next time let us know you had us worried. Izana-I will I promise. Nagate smiles then izana sits next to him and they continue to talk for a while then yuhata and ren leave for their dorms but before izana leaves nagate asks her if she's ok and she asks I am why do you ask?
Nagate-Because you seemed a bit shaken did mako try to hurt you again? Izana-No he didn't he's left me alone since that day don't worry nagate I'm ok. Nagate-Ok. Hey tomorrow id like you to come with me to talk to hybrid? Izana-The hybrid why? Nagate-Because it looked like she could use a friend I she seemed a bit sad at the assembly. Izana replies ok then says good night nagate and heads for her dorm. By morning nagate and izana are awake and are at the entrance to Kunato development then nagate rings the doorbell. Mozuku- Master Norio you have visitors I see let them in. Izana-I don't think it was a good idea to come with out an appointment nagate. Nagate-But we already pressed the doorbell. Mozuku-Please come in. Nagate-Oh yes thank you for seeing us. Nagate and izana enter through the door then come across a stairway with pipes going down underneath it then enter a passageway to the main floor they see an open space with pink stuff growing on the walls and pipes then izana smells something weird coming from it.
Nagate goes to the ledge to look while izana warns him not to get to close then they see tentacles coming out from underneath then a cloud of pink dust knocks them over and makes them cough until tsumugi appears. Tsumugi-Nagate what are you doing here? Nagate-Ah well I came because I thought you might be bord being alone. After hearing what he said a small probe like tentacle comes out then lunges at him making him freak out a bit and she says in excitement oh really wow thank you so much. Izana-Um Ah. Tsumugi-Uh and who might this be?
Nagate-This is my friend izana we started out as cadets together. Tsumugi goes up to her making izana lung back a bit then tsumugi says hi izana nice to meet you. Izana-Ah um nice to meet you to. Tsumugi- I'm so happy I was just thinking how id really like to learn more about humans. Nagate-Oh really that's good. Tsumugi rubs two of her tentacles then asks nagate may I touch you, Nagate replies touch me…ah shore if you want to then tsumugi says pardon me and dozens of tentacles come out making nagate panic then she picks him up. Nagate replies wait what's…what's going on gah and tsumugi says I want to accurately measure you to see what your shaped like nagate.
Izana watches from below with a frightened face as nagate is being measured then starts to feel her heartbeat faster and before she does anything tsugumori turn to her making izana form a nervous look then says pardon me and grabs izana to do the same. Mins later tsugumori puts them down near the entrance, as soon as they are released izana collapse's into nagate arm with a sick look then tsumugi says So does that mean you'll come see me again? Nagate replies with yeah making tsumugi smile and say thank you so much I can't wait to see you again. Nagate replies me to then leaves with izana and once outside she trembles bit on her feet, nagate asks her if she's ok and she begins to say I think that experience was a bit to...a bit to then quickly runs to the edge with nagate following behind and throws up.
Nagate says to her while still throwing up the experience was too much for you making her look up and nod with a yes then continues throwing up with nagate rubbing her back then says I am glad though we came. When izana doesn't feel sick anymore nagate helps her back to her dorm and get ready for bed. While in her dorm nagate looks out the window then says you feeling better. Izana replies with yes, I'm feeling better as she gets out pajamas to change and while she takes off her shirt nagate turn around to give her privacy then says Well I should probably head out I'm going to fly my ship for a bit.
As he begins to leave nagate feels izana hugging from behind and says can you stay for a bit until I fall asleep. Nagate replies with shore and lays down with her in her bed then izana cuddles into his arm and eventually falls asleep, carefully nagate lifts her up and wrests her on her pillow then puts the blanket over kisses her on the head and leaves to go to his ship. Meanwhile the immortal ship council has made a unanimous vote and one of them steps out of his pod saying that being the case Kobayashi has been formally impeached as we agreed I will take over as the next representative. Are there any objections? Council-No objections, Ochiai-I object. The council turn to see Ochiai walking in the one of them says ochaia's clone. Ochiai-I am here representing Kobayashi on her behalf. Women-How long have you been here? Ochiai-From the beginning of the hearing did you all fail to notice perhaps all your brains are experience the effects of gravity sickness.
Man-You were only kept alive because you were the key to the auxiliary brain there should be no use for you know. I don't understand why Kobayashi would have chosen to keep you alive or is there some other keyhole you are filling? Ochaia right hand begins to glow then in secs small metal orbs shoot out killing the immortal ship council then Kobayashi comes out from behind and says a very successful job then Ochiai clone says thank you and as she walks past the dead council an alert window pops up on the monitor showing the Valkyrie leave Sidonia then enter hyperspace. Ochiai clone-Fascinating it appears his ship has hyperspace technology. Kobayashi-It is, and it will be helpful when we go to find the titan and seize it for ourselves. For now, set sidonia's course for the lem star system. Ochiai clone-I will see that it's done.
