"This is gonna end well," Natasha commented.
The teams started to walking towards each other. After a few steps, Steve's team broke into a jog.
"They're not stopping," Spider-Man said.
"Neither are we," Tony replied.
The two teams broke into sprints as the flyers took to the air. Iron Man went straight for Cap. Rhodey took on the Falcon. Wanda took on Spider-Man. Bucky took on T'Challa. Ant-Man went for Natasha.
And Percy got Vision. He threw his trident at Vision, who shot a beam at him. Percy side-flipped and dodged the beam, catching the trident as it returned to his hand. Spider-Man tried to web Percy up, but he dodged it and threw his trident at Spider-Man's web, bringing him down to earth as Wanda rushed towards him. Vision tried to attack Percy again, but he slammed his trident down into the ground, sending a jolt into the earth, startling Vision and those around him. With Vision startled, he wasn't able to make him more dense. Percy extended a hand to the nearest water truck and it exploded before Percy sent the literal truckload of water hurling at Vision, sending the android crashing into some crates.
Percy avoided Rhodey's kamikaze attack by rolling out of the way as he flew by and found himself in front of Natasha. She was basically no match for Percy as he used his trident to discard her batons and rendered her exposed as he kicked her away, sending her crashing into a luggage cart. Natasha was slow to get up.
Percy went over to Wanda and helped her to her feet.
"You alright?" Wanda asked.
Percy sighed. "We're fighting our supposed teammates. So … no, you could say I'm not alright."
Wanda nodded. "Fair enough."
They both ran off in different directions to help others.
Meanwhile, T'Challa battled it out with Bucky. "I did not kill your father," Bucky said.
"Then why did you run?" T'Challa demanded.
T'Challa proceeded to pummel Bucky, almost killing him by sinking his claws into Bucky's throat, but Wanda intervened, stopping T'Challa's attack and sending him flying into a jet bridge.
On Percy's side, he had his trident ready to throw. "Someone get him off me!" Sam demanded as Iron Man chased after him.
"You ready?" Percy asked.
Barely seeable was none other than Ant-Man, shrunk down in size, standing at the tip of Percy's trident.
"Yeah," Scott assured. "No, I'm good. I'm good, Water Guy. Let's go. Let's go!"
Percy threw his trident, directing it into Iron Man's path. Iron Man spotted it and shot the trident, diverting it into another direction as Ant-Man jumped off the trident and slid into Iron Man's armor. Percy recalled the trident back to him before dodging Tony's blasters that were directed at him. Percy continued to evade Iron Man's blasts until his power eventually went out.
"FRIDAY?" Tony asked his AI.
"We have some weapon systems offline," FRIDAY informed.
"They what?"
Scott, inside Tony's armor, started to unplug every wire in sight. "Oh, you're gonna have to take this into the shop."
"Who's speaking?" Tony demanded, flabbergasted.
"It's your conscience," Scott replied jestingly. "We don't talk a lot these days."
"FRIDAY?"
"Deploying fire suppression system," she said.
Inside the armor, Scott was forced to make a run for it as carbon dioxide filled up in Tony's armor. Scott was eventually pushed out of the armor by force.
While Scott dealt with Tony's armor, Percy took off, dodging attacks by some of the flyers before finding himself cover behind some crates as he took a second to breathe. Not too far behind him, Steve and Bucky did the same, hiding behind the pillars of a passageway.
"We gotta go. That guy's probably in Siberia by now," Bucky said.
"Maybe just you two go," Percy suggested.
"What?" Steve asked.
"Percy's right," Sam said. "We'll try to keep everyone distracted while you two get to the jet. But the rest of us, we're not getting out of here."
Steve looked grim. "Percy?"
Percy gave him a look that he agreed with Sam. "Yeah, I'm afraid it's just gonna have to be you two that get out of here. Some of us will have to lose in order for you to win."
"This isn't the real fight, Steve," Sam said.
Steve sighed and rescinded. "Alright, Sam, what's the play?"
"We need a diversion, something big," Sam said.
"I got something kind of big, but I can't hold it very long. On my signal, run like hell. And if I tear myself in half … don't come back for me," Scott said.
"He's gonna tear himself in half?" Bucky asked in bewilderment.
"You're sure about this, Scott?" Steve questioned.
"I do it all the time," Scott reassured. "I mean once … in a lab. And then I passed out. I'm the boss. I'm the boss. I'm the boss. I'm the boss. I'm the BOSS!"
All of the sudden, Percy looked up as Scott grew in massive size, until he was a towering behemoth taller than the airport itself and he grabbed Rhodey out of the sky.
"Wow," Percy said with eyebrows raised in amazement as he walked out of cover.
"Okay, tiny dude is big now. He's big now," Rhodey said.
"I guess that's the signal," Steve said, looking amazed himself.
"Way to go, Tic Tac!" Sam shouted.
"Give me back my Rhodey," Tony demanded.
Sam kicked Tony away as Scott flung Rhodey away and Spider-Man swung after him. Spider-Man caught him and used a stationary truck as momentum to stop Rhodey from crashing into a plane.
Scott kicked a bus towards T'Challa and Vision was there to protect him from harm, making himself dense as the bus split in two because of Vision. T'Challa managed to spot Steve and Bucky making a run for it. Tony chased after Sam, with giant Scott helping by tearing a plane wing and swinging it at Tony.
"Okay, anybody on our side hiding any shocking and fantastic abilities they'd like to disclose, I'm open to suggestion," Tony called out to his team.
As T'Challa tried to chase after Steve and Bucky, Scott stood in front of him to stop him. "You wanna get to them … you gotta go through me."
Scott kicked at T'Challa and he dodged out the way. War Machine entered the fold, firing at a giant Scott with some help of Spider-Man as he fired webs around his oversized arms.
T'Challa saw this as a chance to get to Bucky but was suddenly stopped by someone who could presumably be seen as a great foe.
Percy Jackson fell from above and landed on his feet, head tilting up to face T'Challa, trident gripped in his right hand. T'Challa stopped in his tracks as he faced Percy.
Percy twirled his trident. "You're a Wakandan."
T'Challa took off his mask and he made proper eye contact with Percy as he studied him thoroughly, from his physique to the trident he was holding. "You're an Atlantean."
"I haven't heard nice things about your kind," Percy mentioned.
"I could say the same about you Atlanteans," T'Challa fired back, putting his mask back on. "Move or you will moved."
"I'd like to see you try," Percy growled.
T'Challa lunged at Percy, who deflected him off his trident. T'Challa swung with claws out and Percy narrowly dodged it before he twirled his trident around his body and swung at his feet. T'Challa backflipped to avoid the attack before he kicked at Percy. The Atlantean side-flipped to avoid kicked. The Wakandan and Atlanteans were practically evenly matched in combat and skill, trading blow for blow. The advantage T'Challa had was his vibranium suit, as it was impenetrable. Whatever Percy tried ... he simply couldn't hurt him.
But the focus on Percy's part was to distract T'Challa. He was after Bucky and Percy needed to make sure that he got on that Quinjet. So he continued to battle it out with the Wakandan.
T'Challa attacked with claws out but Percy concentrated and blocked his attacks with his trident. Behind Percy, he could hear the sound of something massive crumbling and he made the mistake of turning to look. The control tower close to the hangar containing the Quinjet was brought down by Vision's beam but with him distracted, T'Challa kicked Percy into the nearest crates and took off. Percy got up quickly and threw his trident at T'Challa, stopping him.
Wanda managed to hold up the tower with her telekinesis but Rhodey used a sonic beam and aimed it directly at Wanda, which hurt her ears as she yelled in pain. Percy angrily threw his trident at Rhodey and sent him flying elsewhere. Steve and Bucky managed to get inside the hangar just in time, though as Percy grabbed T'Challa from behind, pressing his trident against his throat.
"You're not going anywhere," Percy growled.
T'Challa reached behind him and scratched Percy with his claws. Percy yelled in pain as he pushed T'Challa aside. The Atlantean felt around his right eye and lowered his hand, seeing blood stained on it. Percy looked at T'Challa in outrage.
"You made me bleed," Percy stated. "I … have never bled before."
"And you helped the murderer of my father escape," T'Challa stated as he stood to his feet. "I would say we are even."
"See, the thing about that is … Barnes didn't murder your father, T'Challa," Percy told him, wiping around his right eye as blood started to leak a little more now. "The guy that we're after … that now only Rogers and Barnes are after … he murdered your father. A guy named Helmut Zemo. He is the man that bombed Vienna and killed your dad." Percy sighed as he continued to feel his eye. "Shit … you're lucky you didn't touch the eyeball. Then, I would have been really mad. You would have even tempted me to kill you."
Both T'Challa and Percy watched as the Quinjet left the hangar and took off into the air. Percy backed away from the Wakandan.
"Looks like my work is done here. Remember what I said, T'Challa. You're after the wrong guy," Percy said, leaving T'Challa to contemplate before walking over to Wanda, who was still reeling from Rhodey's sonic beam. "You alright?"
"I'll be fine," she grunted before looking up at Percy. "Oh my god, your eye!"
"Yeah, I got scratched pretty good," Percy said as his right eye winced occasionally. "But, it'll probably wear off." He stood to his feet and picked Wanda up.
"Was it ... the man in the cat suit?" Wanda asked, using her fingers to wipe the blood off of him.
"Yeah," Percy admitted. "Does it look bad?"
"He got you pretty good," Wanda said. "You have three claw marks, starting from above your eyebrow to your cheekbone."
Percy sighed frustratingly. "I'll deal with it later. Right now, we have to go. Let's get out of here."
They did try to make a run for it, but it didn't take long for a group of armed tactical team soldiers to arrive in choppers and drop down in front of the two of them, surrounding them. "DROP THE WEAPON AND PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR!" the leader hollered at Percy as they surrounded Percy and Wanda. Another group of tactical soldiers brought in Sam and Scott, who had hands raised in the air and automatic rifles. Percy and Wanda exchanged grim looks before against his better judgement, he dropped the trident and put his hands in the air. Wanda followed his lead and also put her hands in the air. One soldier roughly grabbed Percy's arms and shoved them behind his back, cuffing him.
"Percy?" Wanda asked, as another put her hands behind her back as well.
"Everything is gonna be okay, Wanda," Percy said. "I promise. Everything will be fine."
With the aid of Tony's team, the government hauled the four of them into a chopper and placed them in the back before they took into the air, heading to God-knows-where. Probably security max prison or some shit.
Because Percy Jackson was officially under arrest.
