AN: Well Ive received a few reviews that told me to keep up with the story so I'm back again with another chapter. If people like it then I'll try to keep up with this story. I'm going to put a poll up tonight for potential pairings. Don't have much else to say so lets just get into it :)
I don't own Naruto.
Chapter 2: Vengeance
"Absolutely not. I will not allow it." Kakashi stated in a tone that left no room for argument. This did not stop Naruto from trying however.
"How can you say that Kakashi-sensei? You have no idea what that monster put me through. I have every right to help you kick his ass." Naruto shouted, his hands balling into fists at his sides.
"Naruto! Stop thinking about revenge for one minute and THINK! You have not molded chakra for anything in the last two years. Those seals they placed on you barely left you with enough to heal your wounds just enough that you would be fixed each morning so they could break your body all over again. Not to mention that Yagura is a KAGE, and a Jinchuriki. Even if you were able to fight, you are still way out of your league with an enemy like Yagura. My answer is no, stay here and rest until we are ready to head back to the Leaf." Kakashi lectured, bringing up some very strong points.
Without another word, Kakashi, Gai, and Asuma followed Mei out of the tent and towards the command tent. Naruto sighed and thought about what Kakashi had said. He was right, of course. Yagura was way out of his league, but it didn't mean he had to like having his shot at revenge taken from him. Naruto sat on the edge of his bed and suddenly remembered he wasn't alone.
Sasuke and Sakura had stayed in the tent with him, they would not be joining the fight either. Sasuke took a seat in the chair beside the bed and Sakura sat down on the bed beside Naruto. Silence filled the small tent for a moment before Sakura spoke.
"You're not expendable Naruto. You're irreplaceable. Tsunade doesn't smile as much, Shikamaru blames himself for your capture, the rest of the rookies visit your house regularly and we all share memories we have of you. You left a hole in Konoha when you didn't return and I can't stand the fact that you think you're expendable." Sakura said, her voice getting more and more emotional as she spoke.
"Sakura... There are things that neither of you know about me-" Naruto started but was cut off.
"We know you're the container of the Nine-Tails, Naruto. Shikamaru figured it out shortly after he came back from that mission because he could not understand why the civilians hated you so much. Now we know that they're not smart enough to understand the difference between a Kunai and the scroll that its sealed in. Shinobi are different, you gained a lot of respect after people found out that you sacrificed yourself to keep your team safe. Hell, Shikaku Nara had a plaque made in your honor for saving his son. Even Sasuke missed you, he made chunin and asked to be sent to the outpost closest to where they took you. He wanted to be there in case you ever got away and came back somehow." Sakura finished, while pointing at Sasuke.
"Hn. It's true, I've grown enough to admit that. After I saw what you did to those Mist nin after we left, I realized that fighting to protect is just as good if not better than fighting for revenge. I still want to kill Itachi, but my strength comes from a different source now." Sasuke said, as he suddenly found something very interesting to look at on the ground.
Naruto didn't know what to say, so they sat in a comfortable silence for a while until Kakashi came back into the tent.
"Mei's rebellion is leaving tonight. We will engage Yagura's army tomorrow around midday. I will send one of my summons back here in 3 days time to update you three on what's going on. If my summons doesn't arrive by the end of the third day, you three will haul ass back to Konoha. Understood?" Kakashi gave his orders, and after receiving three nods he eye-smiled and ducked back out of the tent.
Naruto's eyes began to grow heavy and he laid down to rest with Sakura's words running through his head.
'Irreplaceable, huh?' He thought, as sleep claimed him.

Naruto shot up in his bed with a gasp, expecting to see the bars of a cell that had been his home for two years. Instead, he saw a bright pink head of hair beside his, he looked towards the chair that Sasuke had been sitting in only to find that Sasuke was now sleeping in said chair. He chose to lay back down and wait for his teammates to wake up as well.
'They really did come for me, it wasn't just a dream.' He thought, as a smile crossed his face and he relaxed a bit.
It wasn't long before Sasuke and Sakura had both woken up as well and the three of them made their way to the kitchen. It was actually just a large tent that everybody ate their meals in, but it had been dubbed "the Kitchen".
They ate in relative silence, until Naruto suddenly stood and slammed his palms on the table.
"That's it! I have to go after them!" He said, mostly to himself.
"Naruto are you insane?! We JUST broke you out of a prison, you can't waltz into a war and expect to live!" Sakura seethed at him in a quiet voice.
"Sakura you don't understand! I just remembered one of the bloodlines I awakened before I was captured! Chakra chains! I read about the Uzumaki before I became a chunin because I was curious about where I came from. That isn't important right now but what IS important is that Chakra Chains were historically used in Konoha to subdue the Nine-Tails! What if i can use mine to subdue Yagura?!" Naruto asked as he sat back down.
Sakura just looked at Naruto in annoyance as he wasn't taking his own health into account, she was about to speak but Sasuke beat her to it.
"It might prove useful in a fight with a Jinchuriki but I agree with Sakura, you shouldn't be using so much chakra right now, let alone fighting." Sasuke said as he took a bite out of a tomato.
"I'm sorry, but I wasn't asking." Naruto said, as he disappeared.
Sakura and Sasuke stared at the spot Naruto had been.
"Did he just-"
"Yes."
"No handsigns?"
"Nope."
"Fourth Hokage Bloodline?"
"Probably."
"NARUTO!"

Smoke hung above the Village Hidden in the Mist, reflecting the light of the burning buildings back onto the street, leaving the whole village with a yellow/orange hue as day turned to night. Sounds of battle carried all over the village as Mei and the bloodline users pushed Yagura's army back. They had pushed their way into the village and set up a makeshift command center in an abandoned home. Three figures stood in the living room with a map of the city sprawled out on a table.
"Yagura was seen leaving his home two minutes ago. It seems we have finally forced him out of hiding. We should try to pull him away from the village to cause as little damage as possible for when he calls upon the power of his Bijuu." Mei stated as she pointed to the area where Yagura was spotted.
"Us three will be the ones to fight with Yagura. I will leave Ao behind to command the troops along with Asuma. I wish to thank you for keeping your word. You could have left with Naruto after we retrieved him but you stayed, and I am grateful." Mei said with an honest smile, she was glad to have such high caliber ninja to help her.
"Mah, mah. Think nothing of it, you returned my student to me. Fighting a bloodthirsty Kage is the least I can do." Kakashi said with an eye-smile, as he waved her off.
"Right. Then lets draw him out." Mei said as she turned to leave, followed by Kakashi and Gai.

Things were not looking good for Kakashi and Mei. Gai had stayed behind to fight the squad of jonin that accompanied Yagura. Kakashi had initially thought the fight was going to be hard, and then Yagura cranked it up a notch by entering his Tailed Beast form. Now Yagura was gone, and in his place stood the fully formed Three-Tails.
Kakashi and Mei had broken away from the fight to catch their breath, Kakashi's Sharingan was bleeding slightly and he was panting. Suddenly "Yagura" moved, too quickly for Kakashi to shout a warning.
"Shit!" Kakashi muttered as he dove at Mei, shoving her out of the way as the Three Tails tried to squash her with a foot.
'I'm sorry...' Kakashi thought, as images of Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura filled his head.
Kakashi waited for the foot to come down on top of him but after a second, all he heard was a loud scream and then he saw it.
Yagura's foot was a few feet above him, but wrapped around the foot were four dark blue chains of chakra. Kakashi followed the chains with his eyes to where they came from. His eyes widened when he saw Naruto, whose face was filled with pain as blood poured out of his mouth, his teeth clenched due to the enormous amount of effort he was using to hold the foot off of Kakashi.
Kakashi's face twisted in anger as he whirled back around to face Yagura.
"DYNAMIC ENTRY!" Gai yelled as he flew through the air, landing a hard kick to the Three-Tails face.
"OW! YOU ANNOYING LITTLE WORM! HOW DARE Y-" Yagura reeled back and screamed in rage at Gai, but his sentence was cut short.
"KAMUI!" Kakashi shouted, as ripples began to form around the Three-Tails face. Space distorted and closed in on itself, taking the head off of the Three-Tails with it.
Kakashi dropped to the floor in a heap, exhausted. He had over used his Sharingan again, just like in the battle against Zabuza.
Naruto stumbled his way to his sensei and checked for a pulse, after finding one he collapsed beside Kakashi as Gai and Mei took up defensive stances in front of them. To their shock, the Three-Tails dissipated, and a headless Yagura was dropped to the cold dirt below him. Mei cautiously made her way to Yagura's body and sealed it inside a scroll when she was satisfied that he was dead. Gai and Mei carried the two unconscious ninja back to the command center and the rest of the war was easily won when the "loyalists" had found out that Yagura had been killed.

'Losing the Three-Tails is an annoyance, but it will reform. Seeing Naruto in action was worth the loss. Chakra chains AND the speed of the Fourth Hokage? You're becoming more interesting everyday, Naruto.' Were the thoughts of a man with a Orange swirl mask and a black cloak with red clouds, as he sat on a tree and watched Mei and Gai walk off with Kakashi and Naruto in their arms.

"I cannot believe you! What did I say? Didn't I say that you would be hurt?! Why don't you ever listen?!" Sakura yelled at Naruto as he laid in his hospital bed in Kirigakure.
"I didn't listen and Kakashi is still alive. I take that as a win. *cough*" Naruto said weakly as he looked over to where a sleeping Kakashi was laying.
"Okay, fine! You saved Kakashi! You also forced more chakra through your pathways in half a second than most Jonin are able to over a prolonged fight!" Sakura said, with glassy eyes as tears threatened to spill down her cheeks.
"Sakura... I'm sorry. I refuse to sit and twiddle my thumbs when I can do something. I won't let my comrades fight by themselves when I know that I can help. I'm sorry I worried you but I had to do it." Naruto said, with a firm voice full of conviction.
"Whatever, no more funny business until we get you back to Konoha and have Tsunade check you over." Sakura said as she sat down in the chair next to Sasuke's.

Following the "Bloodline War" as it had been dubbed, there was a lot to do. First things first, Mei had been sworn in as the Fifth Mizukage, and she had promised to keep good relations with Konoha for their help in the late part of the war. Secondly, there was a huge party that lasted for three days and nights to celebrate the end of the war. Lastly, Mei and over 100 of the Rebels came to the docks to see the Leaf Shinobi off, after Kakashi was back on his feet. They said their goodbyes and were preparing to leave when Kakashi suddenly spoke up.
"Excuse me for a moment." He said to his team as he turned back and walked up to Mei.
They exchanged some words before Kakashi grabbed Mei by the waist and gave her a deep kiss. Mei was left blushing as a series of cheers and whistles followed Kakashi as he walked back to his team.
Sakura was blushing and her eyes flashed to Naruto before she looked away. Naruto on the other hand just stuck out his fist and Kakashi bumped it with his own. No words were spoken on the topic as they left.
They travelled by boat until they reached the border and they walked across it. Kakashi turned back to see Naruto looking at the ground, as if he could see the invisible line that marked the border. The others turned to look at Naruto as he took a deep breath and walked over the line. A large smile on his face as he ran to catch up with his team.
He was finally returning to the Leaf.
