Summary: The girls are turning 17, and Caroline has exhausted all options finding a way to stop the merge, all but one. So Caroline calls Bonnie, and heads off to New Orleans with her daughters and her best friend… (Josie will throw down any day, any time for her mother; and Lizzie is already planning out her room in the Mikaelson mansion)

My inamorata, you know where I'll be: where I'll always be.

Waiting.

For.

You.

Caroline double checked her bags, making sure she had everything. She had her traveling makeup and toiletries kit, along with a week's worth of clothes. In the front zip of her bag was the binder with all the notes she's collected on the Gemini coven, and the merge.

The girls were now 17, which meant that they only had five more years left until the merge. So far, there still wasn't a clear solution. She'd talked to countless witches, shamans and even physics. She'd even hunted down the few members of the Gemini coven that hadn't attended the wedding and were left scattered across the globe. Yet she still came up empty handed most of the time.

The vampire had exhausted all her options. Now, only one door remained. And if he didn't have any answers. Caroline shook her head. No, if he'd know what to do. He always did. Her daughters will live! Both of them!

Caroline was startled out of her thoughts when the doorbell rang. Caroline flashed to the door, hoping it wouldn't be Alaric. He'd never let her take the girls to New Orleans. In fact, she wasn't even planning on telling him until they were close to the city and she'd have called Klaus. So there wouldn't be a way out.

Caroline let out a sigh of relief when she saw that it was just Bonnie at the door. She wrapped her arms around the witch, bringing her in. "You're here?"

"Of course I am." Bonnie answered, returning the embrace. "I wasn't going to let you do this alone. Plus, I don't trust him as far as I can throw him."

"Well to be fair. You can throw him pretty far." Caroline said, letting go of her friend. "And are you sure you aren't going to see a certain original of your own?" the vampire teased.

"This has nothing to do with Ko!" Bonnie denied with red cheeks. "I'm only being the awesome godmother that I am. What's so wrong about that?"

"Nothing." Caroline answered. Beginning to carry her and the girl's bags into the car. "Aside from the fact I never brought up Kol's name." she laughed.

The witch let out a huff. During the time that she was dead, Kol was the only ghost that she knew that hadn't passed on. And he stuck around, teasing her. Eventually that teasing turned to banter… when turned to something more.

It wasn't until she was the anchor, that they truly became close. At the time, he was the only one who knew how much each passing hurt her. She may have been the anchor to the other side. But he was her anchor. Keeping her sane through all the Mystic Fall crazy and Elena drama of the week.

"Plus. I'm not even sure that he still… you know… cares." Bonnie shrugged, a frown appearing on her face. At the time, she was the only one he could talk to. That's the only reason he talked to her. It's been years since then. And from what she hears, a witch in New Orleans brought him back. Something she couldn't do. On top of that, there were rumors that she was in love with him too. A powerful witch, who gave him a second chance at life. Why would he say no?

"No." Caroline told her, coming back into the house. "You will not think like that."

"What? You don't even know what I'm thinking of?" Bonnie protested.

"Yes I do. And you will not go there. You're pretty, you're smart. And you're a badass witch. Someone would have to be crazy not to love you." Caroline told her friend, wrapping an arm around her shoulder.

"Well technically. I'm pretty sure tons of people have diagnosed him as crazy." Bonnie laughed.

"True." Caroline joined her.

Just then, Alaric's car pulled into the driveway, and both girls ran out, running to embrace their mother and aunt.

Alaric let the girls reunite, before exiting the car himself. "You sure you're gonna be fine?" He asked.

"Of course we are." Caroline laughed, trying to play it cool. Here comes the hard part. "We're only going to be going to New York for a week."

If Alaric knew where she was really taking the girls, he would have never agreed. So, as much as she hated it. She had to lie. But she was a terrible liar.

Alaric narrowed his eyes, Caroline refused to meet his gaze, which could only mean she was hiding something. He opened his mouth to speak, but Bonnie beat him to it.

"Come on Rick. It's a chance for the girls to experience some things. Have some fun." She said, covering for her friend.

Caroline's eyes widened, Bonnie actually went there. The girls may only have till their twenty-two birthday to live. So both Alaric and her had decided that every year they would take a trip so the girls could enjoy life to the fullest. They tried not to bring the topic up so much, especially since the girls found out about the merge.

"Alright." Alaric answered. But as he watched the girls enter their mother's car, he still couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.

They were about five hours into the trip, singing through Bonnie's playlist, when the witch gave her friend a look.

Caroline shook her head. They could wait a little longer. She didn't have to tell them now!

But Bonnie wasn't having it. She turned off her phone before the next song could start, confusing the girls.

"What's wrong?" Lizzie asked. "If your phone's dead, we can use mine."

Bonnie smiled at the girls, "Oh it's nothing, your mother just has something she needs to tell you."

Caroline could see Lizzie and Josie looking at her through the mirror and sighed. "Well… we aren't going to New York." she said, deciding to just rip the band aid off.

"What!" Lizzie exclaimed, devastated. The younger blond could practically see her shopping day dreams flying out the car window.

But Josie just nodded, "I know."

Lizzie furiously turned to her twin. "What do you mean 'I know.'"

"Well, think about it. If we were going to New York, we would have taken a plane. Plus, we're on the wrong road." Josie explained.

Caroline nodded. "We aren't going to New York. We're going to New Orleans."

"New Orleans!" Lizzie squealed, happily.

"Wait. Doesn't Hope live there?" The older twin asked.

Caroline nodded, jumping onto that train. "Yes. Exactly. I needed to visit an… old acquaintance there." the blond said, ignoring Bonnie's chuckle into her cup at the word 'acquaintance'. "So I thought it may be nice to bring you girls along."

"Why? What could you need there?" Josie asked, her eyes then widened. "It's about the merge isn't it."

Caroline sighed. "It is."

The car went quiet after her answer. Until Lizzie posed another question. "So… who's this acquaintance of yours."

Caroline looked ahead, dreading this question. Watching Caroline fumble to say the name, Bonnie decided to do it for her. "Klaus Mikaelson."

'What!" Both girls cried out in unison.

"As in Hope's father?" Josie asked.

"You mean the 'Great Evil'?" Lizzie cried.

Caroline cursed Alaric. "Yes. But it'll be fine. I promise."

"Mom you can't." Josie shook her head.

Lizzie nodded, agreeing with her sister. "Hope's father or not! You can't make a deal with the devil for information about the merge. We won't let you! Turn this car around!"

"Please mom." Josie begged. The last thing the girl wanted was for her mother to suffer because of them. Why would Klaus Mikaelson even help them? He may be Hope's father. But from the stories. It's clear, he'd have no trouble ripping out her mother's heart. She was barely 23 in vampire years, and he was an original.

"Girls!" Caroline shouted, stopping them. "It's fine. He won't hurt me. Trust me. I know."

"How can you be so sure?!" Lizzie demanded.

"Because he promised to be her last love." Bonnie answers, confusing both girls.

They both went quiet at the revelation. "What?" Josie whispered, shocked. Klaus Mikaelson… had promised to be their mother's last love?

"Bonnie!" Caroline hissed.

The witch shrugged, "What? It's the truth. He courted her and everything. Who do you think gave your mother her precious diamond bracelet?" Bonnie told them, trying to calm them down.

At the mention of the jewelry, both girls gazed traveled to the infinity diamond bracelet on their mother's wrist. Sure they had seen her put it on a couple of times. But over the last couple of years, she'd been constantly wearing it. And now that Lizzie thought about it. It all started when Hope Mikaelson came to their school.

"So we're all going to be fine?" Josie asked, quietly.

"Of course." Caroline answered, not a hint of doubt in her voice. "I won't let him touch you."

"What about letting him touch you?" Lizzie asked, voice quite. "We don't want you to bargain yourself for us."

Bonnie laughed at the girl, "It's fine." She smirked at her friend. "I'm pretty sure she wants him to touch her. At least then we won't have to watch them make sex eyes at each other."

"Bonnie!"

"What? They're 17!" The witch defended herself.

"Still my daughters." Caroline hissed, her cheeks remaining pink.

"Does he know we're coming?" Josie asked, curious.

"No. If he did. You'd probably have a parade waiting for you." Bonnie shrugged.

"That's why I'm going to call him now." Caroline told them.

Bonnie turned to her friend, "What? You think he can't assemble a parade in three hours?"

"I'm hoping not." Caroline answered. She'd prefer to keep this visit quiet. Klaus' enemies finding out about her were one thing. Her daughters on the other hand. Yeah, she'd prefer to avoid that as much as possible.

Caroline glanced at her phone, opening up her contacts, she hesitated, before clicking on Klaus' name.

Caroline could hear everyone, even Bonnie's heart picking up speed as they waited. The only sound in the car being the ring.

She had changed her number several times over the years. She wasn't sure he'd even pick up.

Meanwhile, in New Orleans, Klaus put down his paint brush, wiping his fingers on a towel, he picked up his phone. A smile found itself onto his face as he saw the caller id.

He instantly picked up, "Hello love."

Caroline let out a sigh of relief when she heard his voice. In the backseat, Lizzie was looking at Josie with wide eyes. Her sister mirrored her expression. Who could blame them? They had just heard the most powerful being in the world, call their mother, love!

Caroline quickly gathered up her nerves. She could do this! Pushing aside the jelly-like feeling in her knees and the fluttering in her stomach Caroline replied, "Hello to you too. Should I be concerned that you have my newest number on your phone. Especially considering that I've changed it several times over the years.

"Oh sweetheart, you should know. I know all your numbers by heart." Klaus flirted shamelessly.

Caroline let out a laugh, "You still haven't given up your stalker tendencies. Great. It means you still aren't over me."

Her tone may have been light, but the man could clearly hear the relief in her voice. The unsaid, 'You aren't over me'. Never needing to be spoken.

"Of course not. I promised you, however long it takes." Klaus told her. "Now, since I'm having the pleasure of hearing your lovely voice today. I'm assuming it means you have something you'd like me to do?" they hybrid teased.

"Yeah. Your address." Caroline said, catching him off guard.

"Caroline." Klaus called out, his tone meaning business. "Where are you?"

"What? Hasn't your little minion not told you yet?" Caroline teased.

"He is quite incompetent. Something I'm clearly going to need to fix." Klaus told her.

"Well, according to my GPS, me, Bonnie and the girls are about three hours from New Orleans." Caroline told him.

Klaus instantly connected the dots when he heard that Bonnie and the twins were with her. "Ah, the merge." Over the years he'd gotten various phone calls and emails from his men around the world informing him that the blond baby vampire he'd warned them about had been seen in their cities.

Every time, he told them that they were to give her absolutely no trouble, and ensure her safety. If anything did happen to her. They would have to pay with their lives. But not before suffering very painful months of life.

He was pleased to know that despite her search, she hadn't set a foot in Rome, Paris, or Tokyo. "I'm sure Hope will be delighted to see her friends."

Caroline grew hopeful at the revelation. He already knew about the merge. Maybe he knew how to stop it as well!

"I'll text you the address. See you soon, love."

Klaus waited for her to hang up the call, a pleased smile on his face. He walked down the stairs, his smile never leaving his face.

Kol, Rebekah, Hope, Marcel, Davina, and Cami were sitting in the living room. Kol, Hope, and Davina were helping Hope practice her magic. With Rebekah making a comment here and there. Cami waited to see Klaus, and Marcel tagged along for her.

Kol was instantly on guard when he saw the smile on Klaus' face. "What happened. What mass genocide will you be committing today. Don't tell me one of them is gonna get daggered again."

Cami was pleased seeing his smile, thinking it was for her, but Rebekah was more than happy to shatter the blond human's dreams. "I know that dopey smile." She groaned. "It has something to do with Caroline, doesn't it? He had that same smile on his face for two weeks straight when he received an update on Hope's education last term."

"It was handwritten I'd have you know." Klaus defended himself.

"Who's Caroline?" Cami asked.

"Oh no one. Just Hope's headmistress." Kol answered, playing with Cami. Once he saw the smile on her face, he fired his shot. "And the love of Nik's life." He answered, enjoying the frown and jealous look that appeared on the human face.

Klaus sighed, he was in a perfectly good mood. The last thing he wanted to do was deal with Cami. He turned to Kol, "Caroline, The Bennett Witch, and the twins are coming to New Orleans."

"Bonnie?!" Kol exclaimed, an excited smile appearing on his face, one that made Davina's heart ache as she realized it wasn't for her.

Hope shared his joy, "Lizzie, Josie, and Mrs. Salvatore are coming here! When?"

A sour look appeared on Klaus' face at the reminder of Caroline's wedding. She was technically a widow now. "In three hours."

Kol, Rebekah and Hope were happy at the news. Well Cami and Davina's face only continued to sour at Klaus and Kol's reactions. Marcel seemed confused, still not sure about what was happening.

"Are they vampire's to?" Davina asked.

"Caroline's a vampire, Bonnie's a witch, and Lizzie and Josie are Caroline's daughters." Hope answered. Bonnie was a witch, exactly what Davina was afraid of.

"Wait, how can a vampire have kids?" Marcel asked.

Rage boiled in Klaus as he remembered when he found out about what the Gemini Coven had done to his Caroline. Their precious coven was on the verge of being wiped out. So in a desperate hail marry they transferred the children into Caroline, without her permission. On top of that, the kids were her old history teacher's. The vampire hunter who had brutally tortured her.

"Yeah… that's not exactly a topic we like to bring up. It makes Nik… staby." Rebekah informed her ex-lover.

"How old is she? I mean what if she attacks me?" Cami asked, trying to shift the attention onto her. She was the only human surviving in a room full of powerful supernaturals. Of course she was special.

"Oh relax. The baby vampire may barely be over two decades, but she had some of the best control I've ever seen." Kol said, surprising everyone but his family by coming to Caroline's defense. The women was the only one who had the decaying to cover of his decaying body. She also founded a school for supernatural children. She was looking out for future witches. That already gave him an A+ in his book. On top of that, the more time she spent with Nik, the less likely a dagger was bound to wind up in his chest.

"Exactly." Rebekah nodded. Caroline may not be Rebekah's favorite person. But she was the only reason Rebekah was alive. She didn't need to accept Rebekah's call when Nik was trying to kill her when he found out she had brought Mikael to New Orleans. But Caroline did. She saved her life. So she owed the blond. Plus, the vampire was a thousand times better than the human.

"So yes, leave. Oh but on the other I'd love to watch you stay so you can see what Caroline truly means to Klaus. So I can see the despite in your face as you realize that he'll always choose Caroline. Hell! He chose saving her over me! What chance do you think you stand against that?"

Cami turned to Klaus desperately, but he completely ignored her, instead choosing to leave so he could get everything ready for Caroline's arrival. He had no doubt the hunter would have filled the girls heads with all the terrible things he had done. Terrible, but true. But this would be the first chance he'd get to make a good impression on Caroline's daughters. She was coming to him for help with the merge. Saving their lives would be a great place to start.

Good thing he'd done his homework.

They were about half an hour away from the address Klaus had texted her, when Caroline decided that it was finally time to call Rick and tell him what was happening.

Bonnie sat up straighter, as the phone rang. "Hey. How's the road trip?" Alaric asked, picking up.

"Great." Caroline answered. "We stopped for dinner not too long ago. The girls are now asleep in the back." She said, glancing at the bags of take out on the back of the car with a strong urge to clean.

"Bet the girls can't wait to hit the New York malls." Alaric laughed.

Caroline took a deep breath. "Actually, about that. We aren't really heading to New York." she informed him.

"Caroline. Where are you?" The hunter demanded.

"About half an hour from New Orleans." Caroline admitted.

"Klaus." Alaric let out, anger, and a hint of fear in his voice. "What are you thinking!" He shouted. Caroline turned the volume down, so he wouldn't wake up the girls.

"They're already 17 Rick. They only have 5 more years to live. We've tried everything. He's strong, and old too. He had various connections. If anyone can help us, it's him. He'll help me. We know he will." Caroline said, trying to plead her case.

"God," Alaric scoffed. "After all these years. He still clouds your judgment."

Caroline felt anger course through her at the accusation. "No! It's you who's letting your hate cloud your reasoning. I'm only doing what I should have done years ago! He's the only one who can help us now. He knows about the merge. He's over a thousand years old. Heck, he was probably around way before the merge. He can save the girl's life. I'm the one who carried them for nine months. Who dealt with the gazes and the judgment. I had my entire life plan railed off course. They're my daughters just as much as they're yours. So I'm doing this. With, or without your permission!" the vampire said, hanging up.

Bonnie put a comforting hand on her arm, "You're doing the right thing." The witch said, reassuring her.

I remember watching this video called "The Originals: Who's Rooting for Klaroline?". And Joseph Morgan was like Klaroline fans just aren't that vocal. And I'm like WHAT THE HELL! How much more vocal do we need to be? Like does he want a sit out or something… Because if it can bring our ship back to legacies… I'm game. ¯\_()_/¯

Also, I've decided that I'm going to call Cami, Clammy from now on. I saw it on someone's post, and I can't remember who. But I loved it. So from now on, Cami is Clammy. - Put this in with a Cami bashing chapter

I don't know if Klaus called Clammy 'love' or not in the originals. So if someone's watched the show, please let me know. So I can use it in future Clammy bashings. (I personally like to believe that the name 'love' was only reserved for Caroline.)

Like God, do I hate her! She's so annoying because of how she's always trying to make Klaus 'better'. We want a romance story (Klaroline for life), not a therapy session. Plus, let's be honest. Klaus being the big bad wolf, is definitely one of his selling points. There is definitely an allure to darkness.

This was my first time writing for a lot of these characters (Ex. Hope, Lizzie, Josie). So sorry if their kind of oc. Hopefully I'll get better with practice. Because now, whenever I proofread my stories. I'm more focused on asking myself 'Would this character say this?' instead of the actual grammar and stuff.

God this was long (and took so long to write!), but it was definitely choppy throughout the entire story. Not my best work, but I do like it. Who knows, maybe when I run out of ideas, I'd come back and work with this idea again. But because this was so long. I decided to split the chapter up into two parts. So part 2, will be coming out sometime later today, if nothing goes wrong.

I'm also thinking of Making a story about a Lucifer crossover. Where the TVD cast goes through the Lucifer story, with some changes of my own - such as more Originals siblings screen time. With Klaus being Lucifer, and Caroline being Chloe of course (And Elijah would be Amenadiel, without question). What do you guys think?

Anyways,

KLAROLINE FOR LIFE!
