Info You Might Need To Know: "Speaking", I know that after the whole cursing the pack thing, Klaus links himself to his aunt, but yeah no, I don't feel like doing that. (I just wanna focus on the Klaroline) so Dahlia is good (Gray...?) here. For the sake of the story, just go along with it.

Today's Special
I never knew how much my heat could swell until the first time I heard, "Mama!"
~Unknown
Their routine was broken on their fifteenth day there. The group was downstairs, in the basement. With Dahlia and Bonnie holding hands in the center, holding hands. Kol, standing behind Bonnie observing the ritual. Klaus was leaning against a wall. Well Caroline sat on the couch that had been pulled towards a wall, with Hope sitting on ever growing belly.
Nearly her six month mark with twins, Caroline could officially say that she could no longer see her toes. On the bright side, she did have the big bad hybrid rubbing her feet every night. A secret he swore up and down could never be public knowledge.
Suddenly Dahlia got up, and Klaus and Kol tensed.
"What's wrong?" Bonnie asked, surprised.
"Someone's trying to get in." Dahlia answered. "A human."
"Perhaps someone who's lost?" Bonnie suggested.
"I doubt it." Kol answered.
"You two stay here." Klaus told Caroline.
The blond shook her head, "Not happening."
"Caroline. Now's not the time. No one in New Orleans actually knows you two are here. I don't want to take the risk. Even if you weren't connected to me. A pregnant vampire is going to raise questions anywhere."
Caroline let out a huff of air, but she couldn't argue against it. "Fine. But if you guys aren't back in five minutes, I'm coming up."
"Great. That means we have fifteen minutes to wrap it up." Kol laughed, making a jab at Caroline's ability to climb stairs as a result of the pregnancy.
"Why you…" Before Caroline could chuck something at his head, he and Klaus were whooshing up the stairs, with Dahlia following behind them at a human pace.
Klaus and Kol walked out of the house to see Cami standing in front of the border line. Kol's face visibly twisted into one of disgust.
"What are you doing here?" The younger original spat.
"I'm here to see Klaus." Cami answered, holding her head up high. "Let me in." she demanded.
"That will not be happening." Dahlia told her, walking up behind the originals.
Camille gasped, she turned to Klaus, outraged, "I can't believe you! You're really working with her! What happened to protecting Hope!" The dumb, ignorant human accused.
Klaus growled, "I am doing this for Hope!"
"Plus. What gives you the right to question him?" a voice asked.
Klaus turned around to see Caroline leaning against the doorway, holding her pregnant belly. Bonnie was next to her, cradling Hope.
"I thought we had 15 minutes? At I was willing to bet we at least had 10." Kol teased.
Caroline glared at him, "Fork you! I did it in 3 minutes. Pay up."
"Who are you?" Cami asked, glaring at the blond. Cami was dressed in tight skinny jeans with a low cut top. She had thrown a cardigan over it, not to look sluty. But the open coat did nothing to hide the fact it looked like she had shoved tissue paper into her shirt.
Well Caroline was dressed in a loose black maternity dress that stopped a little above her knees. It was printed with white and golden butterflies. It had quarter sleeves, and perfectly outlined her chest, which only looked fuller as a result of her pregnancy.
"Caroline Forbes." The baby vampire answered stiffly.
Cami blinked, recalling the name popping up multiple times in conversations with Rebekah and Hayley.
The time that came most prominently to her mind would be when Rebekah was mad at her once and told her, "Do you actually believe my brother cares for you? You're nothing but a cheap imitation of Caroline!"
At the time Cami hadn't believed her. Choosing to think that Rebekah had only made Caroline up to hurt her.
But here, the blond, blue eyed vampire stood in front of her, and Cami could no longer ignore the cold hard slap of reality, but it wasn't enough to pull her out of denial.
"Klaus. I have no idea what she's said to you. But siding with Dahlia is crazy! She's going to take Hope away from you to use her! You need to uncurse Hayley, and bring Hope back right this instant! Don't let this blond Bimbo-"
A growl rang through the clearing as Klaus lifted Cami from her neck and slammed her against a tree. "Now you listen here. I made the decision to curse Hayley and side with Dahlia long before Caroline came. She had nothing to do with the decision. But she did support me. Which is a lot more than I can say for any of you lot. If you so much as look at her the wrong way again Camille. I will destroy you. Understand."
"K-klaus, y-you can't. You wo-ouldn't. I-It's me. Y-you won't. You l-love me." The human choked out.
Klaus sighed, and closed his eyes as if praying for an answer on how to deal with this human idiocy. He then smirked, suddenly getting an idea to destroy her judgey attitude. "Do you know. When Caroline turned. She had no idea what was happening to her. Yet my queen controlled her hunger enough to feed from a nurse. Without killing her. She then compelled her to forget the memories of her feeding. All on the first try. She has practically a clean record. Only one kill I believe. And that was because she was injured, and surrounded by people within 24 hours of being turned."
"Why are you telling me this?" The human asked.
Klaus chuckled, "Now I know you can't compare to her. But I think it's time for you to realize that." Klaus, not wanting to share any of his blood with Cami, turned to his brother, "Kol."
The younger original smirked, understanding what his brother wanted. He bit into his wrist and shoved it above Cami's mouth, not wanting her lips to touch his skin. He then pressed her cheeks open forcing her lips to part and letting her choke it down. Klaus then proceeded to snap Cami's neck.
"Klaus!" Caroline shouted, glaring at him.
"What?" Klaus shrugged, innocently.
"You can't just leave her there like that!" Caroline chastised.
"Fine. We'll leave her a blood bag, and a daylight ring." Klaus caved. "After all. We do want her to survive long enough to learn her lesson, don't we?" With that, he tossed Camille's transitioning corpse aside as if it was yesterday's trash.
As she approached the beginning of her ninth month of pregnancy, Dahlia officially ordered her on bed rest.
At this point, the witches had started to give Caroline magic directly, so the girls wouldn't siphon off the magic keeping Caroline alive.
As for their bet, Caroline still wasn't able to get Hope to say dada, but she knew for a fact Klaus hadn't been able to get the little girl to talk either.
Though she did find it suspicious that she didn't even see him try to teach the girl her name.
But as a result of her bedrest, Klaus and Hope spent most of their days in her room, with her. Bonnie and Kol have even taken to crashing in, much to Klaus dismay, along with bored games.
They learned the hard way that monopoly started feuds, Kol and Klaus cheated in cards way too much; and if they played jenga, they were so loud that even the cursed wolves in the bayou could hear their shouts.
Klaus' eyes flew open when he heard footsteps outside. His eyes glanced towards a sleeping Caroline, Hope curled up next to her side. He smiled softly at the sight, before throwing on a henley flashing outside.
Klaus raised an eyebrow when he saw the old history teacher from mystic falls banging on the barrier. He slipped his hands into his pockets and casually approached the barrier, letting the man wait for him in the chilly night air.
Alaric growled, "Where are my children?"
"Your children?" Klaus asked mockingly, "Don't you mean Caroline's children? She's the one carrying them. Growing them. Risking her life for them. What did you do? Aside from being a sperm donor, that is?"
"They are mine Klaus. You can't keep me from them." Alaric shouted.
Klaus sighed, "Let me tell you something." He said, as if he was speaking to a three year old who wanted a toy he couldn't have. "Your children died eight months ago. Those little girls, that Caroline is growing. Are hers. You have no right to them."
"I'm their father." Alaric tried to reason with him.
Klaus shook his head. "No you aren't. Caroline's already so brave. She's giving birth to children who received half of their DNA from a man who tortured her. Killed her father." Alaric flinched at the reminder, but Klaus wasn't done. "Yet she won't let two little life's fade away when she could do something. So you see. I refuse to let you taint the image of those two little girls, when they are born."
Klaus walked through the barrier and grabbed Alaric by the neck. Forcing the man to meet his gaze he tested to see if the man had any vervain in his system. "I expected you a lot sooner. Why did you wait this long?"
Alaric tried to stay silent and resist the compulsion, but without any vervain in his system, he couldn't. He had thought that Caroline would happily come back with him, so he had gotten arrogant and forgone the vervain.
And now, he would pay the price.
"Damon." Alaric answered through gritted teeth. "Damon and I knew the children would be siphoners and that Bonnie wouldn't be enough to keep Caroline alive. So They'd be forced to come back." he answered, huffing by the end as a result of his attempt to resist the compulsion.
Klaus let out a low growl, his eyes flashing in anger, Alaric tried to step back. But could do little against the hybrid's iron hold. "Did you idiots suddenly forget that I would never let anything happen to her? That she could come to me? Did you honestly believe that I would turn my back on her like you lot do time and time again!"
"We thought you had left once you had gotten into her pants. That you didn't care." Alaric protested.
"I left because she asked me to!" Klaus roared.
"Alaric Saltzman, you will never be safe again. For the rest of your pathetic human life, you will continue to run. You won't ever attempt to see Caroline and her daughters, or have someone reach Caroline and the girls on your behalf. You will cut off all connections with the mystic falls lot, and anytime you see someone, you will run. Do you understand me?"
Alaric's eyes grew hazy as he was forced to repeat the compulsion. Satisfied, Klaus threw him against the tree line, smirking when he heard a couple of the humans bones break.
Klaus walked back upstairs to see both of his girls wide awake. Caroline was gently rocking Hope, with a thoughtful look on her face. The little girl gazed at her mother-like figure with a curious look on her face. Wondering what was wrong?
"Do you blame me?" Klaus couldn't help but ask. Caroline snapped out of her thought, at her confused look, Klaus continued. "For sending their father away? What makes me better than Hayley?"
"No." Caroline answered without hesitation. "They already have a father." she said, smiling at Klaus. "What Hayley did was different. She tried to take Hope away from you. But you're right. Alaric's children died a long time ago. These girls... they are mine… and yours." She smiled. "It's just about time I came to terms with that."
"I guess I just kept trying to fight this because I was scared I'd be doing it alone." Caroline confessed.
Klaus knelt before her, gently placing his hands on his stomach he smiled up at her, "You're not going to be doing this alone. I promise you."
Caroline returned his smile, "I know."
Bonnie was flipping through a grimoire when Kol found her. Honestly, he wasn't that surprised to see that's what she was doing.
It seems all she's been doing since she's got here is gain as much knowledge as she possibly could.
"You know. If you keep this up you're gonna burn out soon, right?" Kol asked, leaning against the doorway. His tone was light, but his posture suggested the exact opposite.
Bonnie jumped, startled. Picking up the book she dropped, she glared at him. "I'm going to be fine." The witch protested.
"No you aren't." Kol told her firmly. "You burning out isn't going to help anyone. Let alone Caroline."
Bonnie flinched at the mention of her friend, but a determined look soon overtook her features. "I need to. I've let her down one too many times already."
Kol raised an eyebrow, "What's the story there?" he asked, sitting down in a chair across from the witch.
Bonnie sighed, before looking down at her hands. "When Carolien first transitioned… It was horrible. I was horrible to her. She was scared, and alone. Damon had tried to kill her, and she had just transitioned. She had to beg me to make her a daylight ring. And I did. But not without reminding her that I could, and would take it away if she killed someone." Bonnie paused, trying to regain her strength she continued. "And then. When Elena turned. I automatically gave her one. No conditions, no threats. God. I didn't even consider how that would make her feel. Yet… she killed twelve witches for me. Without hesitation. She knew what it would do. She knew everyone would give her crap for it, for god knows how long. But... she did it. She made that sacrifice for... me. Then, when Silas was controlling me. Caroline was the only one who considered checking up on me. Who bothered to."
Kol nodded. "You feel like you owe it to her."
"I don't just feel it. I know I do. I've been a horrible friend to her. I don't deserve her loyalty. I should have lost it a long time ago. But now, I intend to earn it back." Bonnie said, determined.
Kol nodded and stood up, "Fine. But this is not how you do it." he said, gesturing to all the books. "You have the knowledge. I get that you're cautious after expression. But the best way to learn magic, is hands on. So come on." Kol said, offering Bonnie his hand.
The witch stared at it for a moment. Before placing her hand into his.
"Are you sure you wanna do this?" Caroline asked, as she dressed Hope in a cute little shirt that had 'The princess has arrived' in cute pink letters' with a crown sitting on the 'p'. It had several hearts emphasizing the letters. It came with a matching bottom that was covered in pastel hot pink hearts and black arrows.
Klaus was leaning against the door frame, with his arms crossed as he watched Caroline dress Hope, with a small smile.
"We all knew it was a matter of when not if. I say we just get it over with. It's officially time for everyone to get on, or get off." Klaus answered. Knowing today could either fix everything, or ensure that nothing was ever remotely the same again.
Caroline nodded, "You know. Whatever you choose. I'm standing right by you."
Klaus smirked and pulled her close to him. Resting one hand on her back, and the other on her baby bump he said, "Good. Because I'm never letting you again."
Klaus and Caroline entered the parlor hand in hand. Hope clinging to Caroline's side like a Koala.
Elijah, Rebekah, Freya, Davina and Marcel were standing in one stride of the room. Well Bonnie, Kol and Dahlia stood on the other.
Rebekah wasn't surprised to see Caroline there after meeting the Bennett witch. But what did get a reaction out of her, was the baby vampire's pregnant stomach. "What… how?"
"Magic, plus a crazy coven desperate to continue their line. They aren't biologically mine." Caroline answered.
Elijah was surprised to see the blond there. He only remembered her as the blond vampire friend of Elena, and yet here she is. Holding Hope. Judging by how the child was clinging to her, it wasn't the first time either.
Marcel glared at Caroline, "She's the one. She's the one who you killed Cami over?"
Klaus meets Marcel's gaze head on, his own eye's flashing gold. "Camille clearly needed to be reminded of her palace if she truly thought she had anything on Caroline."
Rebekah scoffed, "Even I could tell you that. He chose to save her over me. What chance did one pathetic human have?"
"Can we please forget about the stupid bartender? We need to focus on how he handed over Hope to Dahlia." Freya stepped in, glaring at her younger brother.
Kol stepped up, "He did it to protect her. Hope has too much magic. She wouldn't live to see her sweet sixteen if she isn't linked to Dahlia."
"What?" Elijah asked, surprised. This was the first time he's heard of anything like this.
Bonnie walked up next to Kol, and threatened her fingers through his hands, which earned a glare from Davina. "Yes. I would suffer from the same thing. If my magic's bloodline isn't constantly being spread out through my ancestors. That's one of the reasons I had so much trouble with expression. I had broken my link, and as a result all my magic overwhelmed me. You have the perfect example," Bonnie said, looking at Davina. "Just look at what happened to her. The harvest's magic nearly killed her."
Marcel flinched, as he remembered the incident.
Freya, still in denial, shook her head. "You were horrible to me." she said, turning to Dahlia.
"And you were, are, a rebellious teenager." Dahlia countered. "Please, I let more of you little lovers live then Niklaus ever would."
"You made me sleep. For centuries." Freya argued.
"To ensure you lived longer!" Dahlia answered, exasperated.
"You drain me of my magic. You're doing the same to Hope." Freya shouted, still refusing to believe her mentor.
Dahlia sighed, "You're a first born Mikaelson, Freya. You have too much magic. I know because I suffered the same problem, and it nearly killed me. It took me years to control it. It was why I never had any children of my own. I formed the link, so your body wouldn't be forced to contain it all on it's own. If you listened to my lectures instead of rolling your eyes at me, young lady, you would know this." the older witch explained.
Freya had no argument for that, "Oh…"
"Yeah. Oh" Kol rolled his eyes. "And because of you. Hope would nearly have had to suffer if Nik didn't have the level head to listen to Dahlia's reasoning.
"Brother. I apologize. I had no idea." Elijah began, but was cut off by Caroline.
"But that doesn't change what you did Elijah." Caroline answered.
"Mis. Forbes, please stay out of it." Elijah glared at her.
Klaus opened his mouth, likely to shout at his brother, but was stopped by Caroline putting a hand on Klaus arm. She turned to Elijah, "You had no right to try and keep Hope from Klaus. I understand that you were the one who convinced him to give this baby a chance when no one else would. But that still doesn't change the fact that Hope is Klaus' daughter, not yours. At the end of the day, you need to trust his decision as a father. If you truly believe she's his redemption. Then he needs to be the one to make that decision. You can't force it on him. Or nothing will happen. In fact, you may even make it worse. No one can change, unless they choose to do so." Caroline looked at Hope, and smiled sadly. "You can't change that Klaus will always be Hope's father. Like I can't change who her mother is."
Everyone stared at the baby vampire, open mouth.
Surprisingly, Freya was the one to break the silence. "About Hayley… her curse may have been broken."
"Klaus! You can't keep me from my daughter!" Hayley shouted, banging on the barrier.
Klaus sighed and walked outside, "Oh, you mean like you tried to keep her from me?"
"Come out here and fight me like a man." Hayley demanded, her wolf side coming out.
Klaus without hesitation walked out of the barrier, Hayley tried to punch him, but Klaus easily caught her fist in one hand, his other one still casually in his pocket.
Hayley growled and tried to lunge at him, but Klaus sidestepped her and used her momentum to throw her to the ground. Keeping her there but a foot on her spine. "Really? You're a hybrid. A Queen as you call yourself. And that's all you can do? Then again, it is hilarious that you actually thought you could stand a chance against me."
Hayley growled and tried to push herself up, but could barely wiggle around on the ground like an insect, let alone hold herself up.
The woman opened her mouth, but she forgot whatever she was about to say when she saw a pregnant Caroline carrying her daughter out the door.
Hope's dressed in a cute light pink coloured sweater that says 'Sorry boys daddy says no dating', with a matching cheetah patterned bottoms, and a headband with the same pattern printed across it.
"Hope." Hayley called out desperately.
Caroline sighed, and sat down on the porch swing. "dada's fighting Mama Hope." Caroline said, "We should probably go back in."
"Mama?" Hope asked, confused.
All three adults instantly stopped, Hayley had a hopeful look on her face, well Caroline felt her heart break. And Klaus? He had a huge smirk on his face.
"That's right. Mama." Hayley shouted, throwing an arrogant look. That's right. She hadn't seen her for months. Yet Hope still calls her mother.
Ha!
Take that Miss Mystic Falls!
But to Hayley and Caroline's surprise, Hope tugged on one of Caroline's curls to get her attention and called again, "Mama." Caroline's eyes widened. Was she referring to her?
"Mama. Mama. Mama." The little girl began chanting, trying to get her mother's attention.
Klaus smirked, letting go of Hayley, he strolled back to Caroline, wrapping his two favorite girls in his arms, he said, "I won."
Caroline looked at him, confused. "What?" she asked, still amazed by Hope's first word.
"I won the bet. I got her to call you mama, before you got her to call me dada." He explained. Remembering the hours he secretly spent with Hope in his art studio, showing her pictures of Caroline and repeating the word 'mama' to her.
Caroline gasped, "No you didn't!"
"Oh yes I did." Klaus fired at her. "We never agreed on what she'd call you."
Klaus turned serious, "You are her mother. And no one, no one can change that." He told her firmly. Klaus smiled a genuine smile and guided her inside with a hand on her back, Hayley let on the ground, like forgotten trash. He'd need to remember later to go back out and dispose of the garbage.
But before then, he was going to enjoy spending time with his daughter, and her Mama.
I mostly just went out of my way to add Clammy bashing, because I had to watch Clammy on screen to write this. So I needed something to help with that. And the best kind of therapy for Clammy, is Clammy bashing.
Was Klaus a little too oc here? Like he had some pretty soft scenes here. But it's fine, it's Caroline. She's the one exception. Though Klaus having Kol shove his blood into Cami, and then snapping her neck and throwing her out like yesterday's trash? That should have been canon! That's something he should have done! Who's with me?
But if you guys have any suggestions on how I can keep Klaus sweet, but still Klaus. I'd be happy to hear it. I wanna be able to write the best Klaroline that I can. :)
Also if you put in a request before someone else, and I wrote theirs first. It's not because I'm being biased or anything (I guess in a way I am), it's just I write ideas when the mood strikes me. Like I have a HUGE list (Most of them my own ideas). And I go through it until I find one that I'm like, oh, I wanna write this one right now. So I swear, it's nothing against you or anything.
Also sorry AaerabellaerieE, I kind of got a little... ok, fine, a lot... carried away here. I know it was supposed to be a pretty simple prompt, but I couldn't help myself. I'm not sure if you wanted Hope as a child when Hayley's curse broke. I know you used the word 'kid'. But my vision of the story just had her as a baby, and Mama being her first word. Hope you don't mind.
I feel like I may have rushed through this a little too fast. If I ever do rewrite this idea. I'm probably gonna add more dialogues to it, and add more details to it.
I'm probably gonna start writing for other fandoms/my other stories again soon. (I've been riding a Klaroline high for like a month and a half. Which is a new record for me considering I have a habit of jumping between fandoms)
But I know I'm gonna update my Klaroline stories quite frequently. Like I still love anime (and a ton of anime guys), but ship wise, this is the ship I will go down with.
KLAROLINE FOR LIFE BECAUSE I WILL GO DOWN WITH THIS SHIP!
