After breakfast, Travis had insisted on driving them to the station. Vic suspected also to keep an eye on her, but she hadn't protested. This arrangement gave her a perfect excuse not to text Gibson back, nor meet with him.

She sticks with Travis walking in and when again, Theo is at the desk signing in as a sub she manages better. They exchange a shy, almost sad smile for a second before Vic turns to the stairs to change. Inward she prays that he isn't at his locker, and it seems today her luck is a little better.

Jack is already in the gym working out. She can see him pummeling the bag.

"Hey, you know you're cutting it close to call, right?" Travis pokes his head into the gym breaking Jack's rhythm and he haphazardly wipes the sweat from his brow. When he lifts his head, he freezes for a second, there just a step behind Montgomery is Vic looking like a deer caught in the headlights staring at him too. Jack remembers to glance down at his watch and then grabs the towel.

"I'll make it. Thanks."

Jack brushes past Travis and Vic and tries to be as inconspicuous as he can while searching for her eyes. For a small sign that they will talk and work this out, but there is nothing but a turned head. Vic seemingly refused to look him in the eyes for real.

Becket announces their assignments for the day and Jack breathes a sigh of relief when he hears Vic is confined to the station. She'll just answer the phones and nothing else, as well as his job on Engine which means he won't see her much. To his, and Vic's annoyance though Theo is on Engine too as well as Montgomery.

Vic isn't too excited about being stuck manning the phones all day, but she can appreciate the distance it gives her. She doesn't have to deal with Gibson, or Theo all that much. Both men only come past the desk for work-related topics, and they talk as little as possible.

Everything is smooth until a call puts all hands-on deck. While the alarm blares through the station Warren was on the phone and Vic could see his face fall, but the second dispatch gives out the target of their call he takes charge.

The car that went off that ridge held doctors, his former colleagues from Grey Sloan, and a heart for a little boy.

Watching her team and friends roll out Vic's heart clenches and for once her monitor beeping doesn't annoy her. It is the appropriate response right now.

Jack sits in his spot and stares out the window. He can't look straight ahead, or he would see Theo sitting in the spot that usually Vic would occupy. Something felt off today. He hadn't seen Ruiz near the desk nearly as often as last shift, where the Latino had taken every chance to go and see his girlfriend. Had something happened? Did he know?

Jack's eyes wander to study the other man in silence and when their eyes meet for a second, he'd swear he saw the hurt in them. Not anger, just hurt and maybe confusion.

At the scene, he tries to pull himself together, be professional, and work hand in hand to help save Dr. Owen Hunt and the driver that still remained in the car when it went down.

It was a brutal call, and they were working tirelessly to reach their subjects.

All the while Vic was straining her ears to listen to every radio transmission the team made. She tried to figure out what was going on, but it was near impossible. Although she released a sigh of relief hearing Dr. Altman had reached Grey Sloan with the heart and that the surgery was an apparent success but the rescue on the scene seemed to take longer than usual.

It was late, already dark out when the team finally made their way back. Vic had prepared food as best as she could manage, and she observed her friends pulling in. They all looked drained.

She wished she could just take one of them or all of them in her arms but one by one, Theo, Jack, and even Travis walk past her.

Realistically Vic knows they probably only want to shower off the grime and sweat and start working through what they saw out there but strangely it hurt being ignored by all three of them.

She couldn't even pinpoint what hurt more. Theo not stopping to talk to her or the way Gibson had just stared past, or through, her. She grabs a fresh cup of tea and retreats to the lounge.

Vic chose a spot on the sofa and pulls a blanket around her feet, curling up on one end and warming her fingers on the hot cup.

"You wanna talk about it now?" Travis's voice pulls her out of her thoughts and her best friend plops down on the armchair next to her.

"Talk about what?"

"Don't play dumb with me. Ruiz is avoiding you, or you are avoiding him. What happened yesterday? He talked to you before you left…" Travis get's right to his point but Vic just continues to stare into her cup.

"I am going to kill him if he hurt you," Travis now presses out leading Vic to reach out and stop her friend from doing what she fears he plans. Running off and accusing Theo of something he didn't do. Again.

"He didn't hurt me. Not before I hurt him first," she admits quietly.

So, are we assuming she will tell Travis? How is he going to react... stay tuned.
