Chapter 3 The Duel

Later at night, many nobles and other people came to the castle for a banquet that commemorate the Heroes triumph against the Wave, with music and a many enjoying the feast.

At a table together was Naofumi's group and they were eating eating or not.

Naofumi wasn't enjoying it since they were partying without a care in the world.

"Hey Naofumi."He looks at Judai."I know how your feeling but we're the true Heroes and no one can say otherwise."

"I guess, but that King."Naofumi said.

"Yeah he's not to be trusted."Judai said.

"Master Naofumi."The guys turn around and see Raphtalia, who was holding a glass, she now looked slightly older and her attire changed as well, now having cream colored tunic with black lines. "The food here is amazing. You sure you don't want something to eat?"

"If you wanna eat, go ahead." Naofumi answered.

"I'd really like for you to join me-"

"I'll pass." He interrupted her, causing her to frown before she go towards somewhere else.

"A simple no would do."Kari said making him grunt.

"Are you sure you don't want some food?"They saw Raphtalia."How about you try a little bit for me?"

"No thanks-"Naofumi tried to say but she puts a piece of cake in front of him using a fork.

"Come on, try it. It's good, I promised."The demihuman insisted as Naofumi reluctantly eats the cake from the former's fork."See?"

"Was it that hard?"Judai asked.

Kari chuckles and then sees Motoyasu going up to them."What does he want?"

"Naofumi." Motoyasu called as the aforementioned person turned towards him. "Let's fight."

Judai noticed Malty smirking making him grunt.

"I've heard you made poor Raphtalia your slave."Motoyasu told him."And you made her obey your every command."

"And what do you care?"Naofumi said.

"Watch your tone."Motoyasu retorted.

"Yeah, Raphtalia's my loyal slave."Naofumi said."So what's it to you?"

"You listen up! You can't be saying you think it's okay to enslave others!"

"Do you even hear yourself right?"Naofumi asked rhetorically."In this crazy place, slavery is legal. And besides, she's been a great help to me."

"But we're Heroes in this world! We shouldn't behave like that here and you know it!" Motoyasu argued.

"Gee, I wonder who I got that from?"Naofumi deadpanned, causing Motoyasu to become furious, he then pointed his spear towards the Shield Hero.

"Let's do this." Motoyasu told him. "If I win, you'll set Raphtalia free!"

"And if I win?" Naofumi asked.

"Then it won't happen."Motoyasu said."And if it does happen, it will stay the same."

"That's so stupid, why should Naofumi even risk a duel, if you want to bet than he must get something in return."Judai said.

"Yeah as if I fight you."Naofumi then leaves.

"Hey wait for us."Kari said, she goes with him and Judai.

"Master Naofumi!"Raphtalia runs after them.

But then a group of knights stopped them.

"It has been brought to my attention..." The king said as he looked towards Naofumi. "You, a Hero, have been using a demihuman as your slave to fight for you! You have violated the customs! And that is incomprehensible!" He said before looking towards the girl with a smile but the riders knew that was fake.

"You are to accept the duel right this moment!" The king threatened the Shield Hero.

"Hey! They didn't need to fight! I'm with Master Naofumi out of my own free will-" Raphtalia said before a knight used his hand to stop her from talking and at the same time, taking her hostage.

"Leave her alone!"Naofumi said.

"Poor creature."The king said to Raphtalia. "You must've been placed under the Shield Hero's curse."

But then Judai punches the Knight in knocking him out.

Everyone got surprised at that and the King said:"How dare you assault him!"

"I'm only looking after my friend, also you talk big but all your doing is trying to make Naofumi look like the bad guy."Judai said.

"No, I'm trying help her."The king said.

"Then what about the other slaves."Judai said making him flinch."I bet a lot of the nobles here have demi human slaves too, so why aren't they getting punished, your just trying to use Raphtalia to make him fight."

"I would watch what I say if I were you!"King said.

"Or else what your highness?"Judai said and Kari got reminded of when he met Ken.

"You better choose your actions wisely, Shield Hero."The king said looking at Naofumi."Accept the duel or your accomplices and the slave shall be executed."

Naofumi grunts and said:"Fine."

At a arena

The group was there with Motoyasu and Naofumi facing against each other, at the side lines were Malty at Motoyasu side, behind Naofumi was his group with Judai and Kari looking after her.

"Sir Motoyasu! Best of luck!" The redhead girl cheered for the aforementioned Hero.

"Will do, Myne!" Motoyasu said and he looks at Naofumi."Remember the folktale about the Irresistible Spear and the Immovable Shield?"Motoyasu twirled his spear around for bit before stopping."Naofumi! Be a man and admit defeat!"

"Yeah like that will happen."Judai said.

"Ready? Begin!" The referee shouted.

Motoyasu proceeded to charge towards Naofumi with his spear before he jumped and thrust his spear towards his opponent, who blocked the strike, the Spear Hero decided to strike again and again, but all of his attacks are blocked.

"Not too bad, guess the Shield Hero has a few moves."Motoyasu said.

"You got that right." Naofumi replied, still blocking Motoyasu's spear with his shield. "So in this folktale battle between a spear and a shield... Did you know that the spear actually lost when it couldn't pierce the shield?"He pushed the Spear Hero back, but Motoyasu jumped backwards.

His spear glowed as he aimed it towards Naofumi.

"Chaos Spear!" Motoyasu said as he thrust forward, causing several small projectile launched from it.

Naofumi dodges but he got his on the side.

"Naofumi."Kari got worried.

Judai looks around and takes something out without no one looking.

Naofumi then punches at Motoyasu not doing much damage.

"He's trying to strike using the shield."Malty said smugly."That'll never work-"She stopped herself when she saw something in Motoyasu.

"What!?" Motoyasu exclaimed as he looked down and saw an orange balloon monster biting his stomach.

"A balloon!? Used as a battle weapon!?"The redhead girl exclaimed.

Naofumi smirks and opens his cloak revealing more balloons bitting him

"Tell me... What the hell are you up to?!" Motoyasu growled.

"If it's true that I can't win, I'm gonna hurt you as much as I possibly can!" Naofumi said and he throws more at him.

"Like Hell!"Motoyasu popped another ballom and charges at Naofumi who blocks the spear with his shield.

Naofumi's shield became the Two Headed Dog Shield, the dog heads attack Motoyasu pushing him back.

"Air Strike Shield!"He sends a energy sheild at Motoyasu hitting him away.

He throws more balloons and uses rope shield."Shield Prison."He traps Motoyasu with the balloons making him scream in pain.

"Alright."Kari said, she looks to the other side and got shocked.

Malty shot a wind blast at Naofumi's back making him grunt, Motoyasu goes to stab him but then a bright light happened and a small object hits Motoyasu away making him spit, Malty and the king got shocked to see get hit away.

Naofumi falls on one knee and sees the light stop revealing a small creature with tiny legs and purple fur.

"What?"He got confused.

"Yay."He smiles and jumps up and down in front of him.

"A digimon!"Kari got surprised.

"Who the heck are you?"Naofumi said.

"I'm a friend, I'm a friend."He said."I'm Dorimon."

"That thing just talked!"Itsuki said.

"What is it?"Ren said.

"Dorimon?"Naofumi got confused.

Kari scans Dorimon and said:"That digimon is a In-Training."She got surprised.

"You cheated!"Malty said."You had that creature attack the spear hero."

"No, I attacked him since you cheated."Dorimon said.

"That thing can actually talk."She stares at it."Plus I don't know what your talking about."

"Oh really."Judai then shows a orb shocking her and it shows a recording of her blasting Naofumi surprising everyone."This shows you attacking Naofumi."

"What, no that must be a fake."Motoyasu denied.

"No, it showed what happened a few seconds ago."Judai said.

"I only did that because he was cheating."Malty said.

"All that happened was from his shield, Dorimon here only attacked because you attacked him, so Naofumi is the winner."Judai said.

"I won't accept this!"King roars at them."You can't decide the winner!"

"Why not, is it because it's your daughter that you are turning a blind eye, Naofumi fought fair, these two did not, but if your not accepting it, how about this since Naofumi can't fight the Spear Hero fights Dorimon instead."Judai said since Dorimon wanted a piece of him.

"Ha that thing, I'll crush it."Motoyasu said.

"Oh your sure about it."Judai smirks.

Dorimon looks at Naofumi and smiles."Don't worry, I'll handle him."

"Why are you helping me?"Naofumi asked.

"Because we're friends."Dorimon said.

Naofumi was still surprised seeing this creature call him a friend even when they just met, but theres something else that is making him confused.

Naofumi was taken out of the ring and the match started, Motoyasu charges at Dorimon who jumps up avoiding the spear.

Motoyasu saw it in front of his face."Metal Drop!"He shoots metal beads at Motoyasu hitting him back.

"Ow my nose!"He holds it in pain.

He then stabs at Dorimon multiple times who just jumps around avoiding the attacks.

Malty got shocked seeing Dorimon dodge all the attacks and goes to cheat again shooting fire but then Impmon came down stopping the attack."Nice try!"

"Another one?!"She got shocked and he smirks.

"Lightning spear!"He shoots lightning making Dorimon jump away.

"Frothy Spit."He spits acid foam making Motoyasu jump away and the floor that got hit melted making him nervous.

Dorimon tackles him hitting Motoyasu back but he hits Dorimon down making him grunt.

Naofumi got worried, then Motoyasu charges at him."Take this, Chaos Spear!"

"Dorimon!"Naofumi yells out to him.

Then a purple glow appeare and he looks at his hand seeing a purple version of Kari's digivice.

Then Dorimon glows too making Motoyasu stop.

Dorimon digivolve to... Dorumon!

He then appears as Dorumon shocking everyone and he roars.

"He digivolved."Judai said.

"Dorumon."Naofumi said.

"Hyper Dash Metal!"He tackles Motoyasu away.

"Chaos Spear!"He tries to stab him.

But Dorumon grabs his spear and swings him around making Motoyasu scream before throwing him back.

Motoyasu got up and sees Dorumon charging up."Metal Cannon!"He then shoots many iron balls at him hitting Motoyasu away and he crashes outside of the ring.

Everyone was in shock, the Spear was outside the ring so he lost.

"This can't be!"The King said.

"That thing beat Motoyasu!"Itsuki said with him and Ren shocked.

They almost the wave boss together yet this small creature managed to defeat Motoyasu alone.

Dorumon smiles and runs up to Naofumi."I did it."

"No, I will not-"The King stops himself when Judai glares at him.

Motoyasu got up holding his face.

"Excuse me."Raphtalia goes towards Motoyasu and slaps him surprising everyone."How dare you, I never asked for your help!"

"But wasn't he abusing you?"Motoyasu said.

"No, master Naofumi never did, he only used the marking when I was too scared to fight."She said.

"But you shouldn't be forced to fight."Motoyasu said.

"I chose to help him, you only care about fame and glory, Naofumi, Judai, Kari, Impmon and Gatomon are my friends and I would be with them for as long as I live, if you cared about saving slaves you would have other Demi humans at your side."Raphtalia said.

"Why you Demi human..."Malty said.

Raphtalia goes to Naofumi and hugs him surprising the guy."I would never leave you."

"We will never leave your side either."Judai said and Naofumi got stunned.

He looks at Dorumon and he then remembers a memory.

When he was a kid he saw his computer glow before Dorimon came out surprising him, they became friends before he went back home.

Judai at Raphtalia and Naofumi and that scene reminded him of his past.

Flashback when he was 13

At a field of flowers Judai was with Kari and he gives her a rose.

"I'm happy that you came to see me."He said.

She takes it and said:"I wanted to know, are you feelings true or is it because of the destiny thing?"

"It's more than just that destiny, when I see you I always feel a thing that was taken away from me."He said.

"What's that?"She asked.

"Happy."He said making her surprised.

Watching them was Gatomon and Impmon.

"Did he really mean that?"She asked.

"Yes."Impmon said.

"I never thought you feel like that."She said.

He smiles at her and said:"One time my smile was taken away but you gave it back to me. You might not remember but we met before."

"We did?"She said.

"Yes, I was the little kid sitting alone and you went up to me smiling."He said.

Her eyes widen and she remembers.

At a park was nine year old Judai sitting at a bench alone and she went up to him with a smile and he got surprised seeing her.

"I remember."She smiles at him.

"You!"They saw TK angry at him.

"What are you doing here?"Judai said.

"I knew that you would try to take Kari away."He said.

"TK stop!"Davis came putting TK on a hold.

"Davis you too."She got surprised.

"Sorry, but I tried to stop him."He said.

TK breaks free and goes foward."Why are you trying to trick Kari."

"Trick her, I asked her to come here to see if we are meant to be together."He said.

"How do you even know she likes you!"TK said.

Judai stares at him and said:"So you like her too."They got surprised."If you truly care about her you would allow her to choose who she prefers to be happy with."

"Why do you care?!"TK said.

"Because all I want is for her to be happy."He said surprising Kari."She gave me the happines back after I suffered so much."

"What?"Davis got surprised.

"That doesn't give you a right to be evil, my parents divorced making me and my brother be seperated."TK said.

"Again thinking darkness is evil, also you have parents, my got killed."He said shocking them."A mad man took them away from me and now all that I have left was the dreams Kari gave me after she brought me out to a out of sadness."

Kari got up and hugs Judai surprising the boys."I'll make sure to always bring you out of it."

Judai was stunned before he smiles.

"Well... I'm happy for her, you better treat her right okay."Davis said to Judai.

"I will."Judai smiles at him.

TK felt destroyed and looks down.

"Come on."Davis drags him away leaving the couple together.

Flashback ends

It was one of his most happy moments and he was glad to have Kari at his side.

Note: Here's the duel and Naofumi got his own Digimon being Dorumon, also I don't hate TK but he thinks darkness is always evil so of course he's going to hate Judai for who he is, now to answer a review: Guest I will not take this anymore, I am not planning to do a Zero one or Saber story until I finished the other Heisei riders, insulting me will not help your case instead it makes me want to do less, so I will ignore your insults will not respond to you again, because I told everyone so many times about the reiwa riders but you just didn't care, so if you insult me again I will ignore the review and delete it."
