Chapter 22: The Legendary Strongest Soldier: Chaos Soldier Descends

"Yuugi, what's happened to you?" Jonouchi wondered.

"Yuugi," Ami started. "It's not after winning that your courage grows, but after you lose. True courage comes from realizing that you could very well lose. That was what you told me 3000 years ago. Yuugi, do you have that courage now?"

Realizing that I could lose? Yami Yuugi mused. Yes, it was that time. He remembered. Kaiba had wagered his life. I was afraid of losing. I was afraid that if I lost, I would also lose my pride. But instead of that, I realized something else. That time with Kaiba, it was truly difficult. The other me… yes, I didn't realize it. No, I didn't want to realize it; the weakness of my heart and the strength of my other self. I can see it, but I can't see it. "Ami," he voiced. "I'm proud to have you by my side. And now, the real battle begins. 'Brain Control'!" he played his card. "By controlling the brain of one of my opponent's monsters, I can control it for one turn. With this card, I gain control of 'Harpy's Pet Dragon'."

"Sorry, the 'Pet Dragon' is 'Harpy's servant." Mai reminded. "It can't attack the 'Harpy', even when controlled."

"I know that." Yami Yuugi replied. "I'm not going to attack the 'Harpy'. I will place a card. And play 'Catapult Turtle'. I will load the 'Harpy's Pet Dragon' onto the 'Catapult Turtle' in attack mode. Now that it is in attack mode, the 'Mirror Wall' appears. 'Harpy's Pet Dragon' is now ready to launch."

"My… 'Silver Mirror Wall'…" Mai was stunned when Yami Yuugi smashed her barrier.

"It's not just the 'Mirror Wall'." Yami Yuugi corrected. "When the 'Catapult Turtle' launches a monster, the monster being your 'Harpy's Pet Dragon', you lose 'Life Point's equal to half of its attack strength of 2300, which is 1150. Attack me, Mai." He challenged.

"Attack…" Mai stated. "But not now. Even if I don't do anything now, it won't change the fact that I'm ahead. So with this card, my 'Harpy' will increase in power. 'Ten-Thousand Reflections – Magnificent Copy'." She played her Magic Card. "'Harpy Ladies'." She summoned two more 'Harpy Ladies' to the field. "What's so funny?" she frowned.

"If you had attacked on your turn, I would've lost." Yami Yuugi admitted. "My placed card is the 'Monster Recall' card. It only allows me to exchange my hand. You almost had victory in your grasp, Mai. I'll play this card in defense mode."

"It's useless." Mai tsked. "Whatever card it is, the 'Seductive Shadow' will change it into attack mode. It's not changing?" she exclaimed.

"I thought as much." Yami Yuugi grinned. "I'll show you what card I played. The 'Seductive Shadow' works on males, but it appears that females are immune to it." He revealed the 'Holy Elf' card.

"But this turn is just prolonging the inevitable." Bakura pointed out. "At this rate, 'Holy Elf' will also be destroyed."

"You're a resilient guy." Mai admitted. "But you're finished here. First of all, I will play the 'Raise Dead' card and revive one monster. 'Harpy's Pet Dragon' has been revived. And now for my turn's attack. 'Harpy Ladies' Triangle Ecstasy Spark'. The 'Holy Elf' has been obliterated. Whatever you draw, it'll still result in defeat. 'Sealing Swords of Light'?" she was stunned. "I should laugh at the situation." She remarked. "Fine, I'll allow you to show me your final, flickering flames of battle by giving you these three turns."

"I'll play this card and end my turn." Yami Yuugi placed a card face down.

"What's with that shrimp little monster?" Mai blinked when 'Kuriboh' was revealed. "Are you trying to make a fool out of me, Yuugi?

"I'm serious, Mai." Yuugi corrected. "There's a specific reason why I put this card in my deck."

"During this turn, I will draw a card and end my turn." Mai drew her card.

"In that case, I'll play this card." Yami Yuugi played his Magic Card. "'Raise Dead'. With this card, I revive 'Dark Knight Gaia'."

"My turn is over." Mai declared, drawing a card. "My turn is over." She added, ending her next turn after drawing another 'Harpy Lady' card, Yami Yuugi having passed on his turn after drawing the 'Guardian of the Fortress' card.

This card… is the Door of Fate. Yami Yuugi's hand paused. Can I open it? Everyone… he looked around him, Yuugi's hand resting on his. That's right. I'm no longer afraid to lose. "Mai," he started. "I now have all the pieces of victory. The Magic Card, 'Chaos Ritual'. And now, I'll sacrifice eight levels worth of monsters to the 'Chaos Ritual'. One soul will be called to the light. And one soul will be led by the darkness. And those souls of Light and Darkness will combine to create the light of chaos. The 'Chaos Soldier' has descended. 'Chaos Soldier' attack! 'Chaos Blade'. 'Harpy's Pet Dragon' has been defeated. She's surrendering." He blinked, Mai placing her hand on her deck.

"What happened?" Anzu was confused.

"It's called surrendering." Bakura explained. "You put your hand on top of your deck to state that you're giving up."
