The next chapter is up! Enjoy :)
Her eyes popped open, and she quickly sat up with a loud gasp.
"Hey are you ok?" Came a male voice from her left.
Eve jumped slightly as her head whipped to the side to see who was talking. She saw two men who were dressed oddly, and really jacked. They also had funny hairdos. And...why did everything look like a goddamn cartoon here!? She rapidly looked around and found herself no longer on a snowy road going home. She was in some kind forest and the weather was quite warm.
What really started freaking her out was when she looked down at herself and couldn't believe what she was seeing. Her body looked just as cartoon like as everything else here! Eve started to hyperventilate as tears came to her eyes. The pair of men noticed this too and approached her in concern.
"Easy, you're ok now." The orange clad man said softly.
It didn't help, and Eve started becoming extremely distressed.
"Oh my...oh my God. I'm dead! I died!" She sobbed.
The two men just gave her a funny look.
"Uhh, no you're not. Your right here and your safe." The same man replied.
Eve was still freaking out though. Thinking the worst had happened to her. That she crashed head on into that other car and had died on impact. And that this was some weird purgatory like place.
The blue clad man wearing white gloves and boots eventually lost his patience and approached the hysterical young woman. Before his friend could stop him, he got down on his knees in front of her and grasped her shoulders.
"Dammit, woman! Get ahold of yourself! You're not dead! So, calm your ass down!" He said in a sharp stern voice.
She calms down enough to try and catch her breath. Eve stared at the irate man kneeling before her. He clearly looked annoyed and had a scowl on his face. Strange, if she were dead than how can she feel his grip on her upper arms? She can also feel the grass beneath her and the warm breeze dancing across her face. And most of all she can feel her own heart pounding in her chest.
"I don't understand. How am I here?" She asks, barely above a whisper.
Both men stared at her for a moment, all while making sideways glances back at each other. After a moment, the orange clad man spoke up again.
"We were training about a couple miles west of here. When we became distracted by an abnormally bright flash of light that came from this direction. So, we came over to see what it was. And we happened to find you lying on the ground when we got here." He told her.
Eve opened and closed her mouth a couple times and furrowed her dark brows in confusion. The man in front of her studied her more closely and took in her baffled appearance.
"You're not from here, are you?" He deduced.
She eyed him and slowly shook her head.
"Where are you from then?" The other man standing beside her asked.
She was a bit hesitant to answer at first. But she felt like she couldn't lie either.
"I...I'm from Nantucket, Massachusetts." Eve replied.
They weren't sure what to think about that. The one in front of her rubbed his chin in thought. While the other rubbed the back of his head in confusion.
"Uhh, where is that exactly?" He asks.
Before she could reply, the blue clad man in front of her beat her to it.
"If I can recall, it's one of the many states in America. Bulma has told me about the country and how she has a lot of contacts from there she speaks and collaborates with." He says.
Eve nods, "Yeah it is. But..."
She pauses mid-sentence. If memory serves her right, they kind of resemble those Japanese Anime Cartoons that she has seen on t.v. while channel surfing. Drew even talked about them a few times. Stating some of his most favorite shows as a kid were a couple of Anime Cartoons. Though she can't recall which ones they were. What she sees so far does look just like the Anime World though.
Blue clad man cocks a thick brow.
"But what?" He asks.
She closes her eyes with a sigh.
"I swear to you that I'm not crazy. But the Massachusetts I'm from...is not the same one as here." Eve finally admits.
Instead of looking at her like she was nuts, they appear to have a more understanding look about them.
"So, you mean to say you're from another Universe or possibly another Dimension. Is that what you're saying?" The same man asked.
"That's exactly what I'm saying. I am from Nantucket, Massachusetts. And the date at the time was December 6, 2021." She replies.
Both men gasp in slight surprise at hearing the date. Eve notices this and can only imagine what's going through their minds at this very moment.
"What?" She says.
"2021?! No way!" The orange man blurts out in surprise.
"What...what year is it here then?" She asks.
"It's August 11, 780." The man in front of her stated.
Her blue eyes widened in surprise herself.
"What!? That's like pre-Middle Ages time in my timeline. Did I land in the past in another world or something?" She inquires.
"I doubt that. It could be time moves differently in your Dimension than our own here. And this is a rather advanced age. Nothing Medieval or anything like you stated before." He says.
They chat for the next couple minutes, trying to ease her fears. Both men were adamant that she wasn't dead and was very much alive. They also introduced themselves as Goku and Vegeta. Very strange names indeed. She told them her name was Eve and tried to explain to them what happened to her as best as she could. They listened intently to her story and hung onto everything she said.
The only question that floated around in their minds is how and why is she here? Something she was completely unsure of herself. Eve was by no means religious and didn't believe that sort of thing. Yet, she still can't get rid of that nagging feeling in the back of her mind that some kind of Divine Intervention had taken place. What other explanation was there on how she came to be here?
"What do I do now? More importantly, how do I get back?" She says aloud.
"I'm sorry to say this, but there may not be a way back. From what it sounds like you were about to die before you were mysteriously dropped here. If this is the case, then this maybe where you will remain from here on out." Vegeta points out.
A melancholy look appears on her face at hearing this. Goku notices this and gently places a hand on her shoulder.
"Hey, don't sweat it Eve. Everything will be ok. At least you still have your life. And as far as what you can do, well you can stay with one of us." He reassures her.
Vegeta snorts, "You mean stay at my home. Seeing as we both know you don't have the space for her at your place, Kakarot. And we don't know if your son and his Wife are looking to take up a permanent guest at their spacious home."
"I appreciate the generous offer. Still, I don't really want to impose on anyone either." Eve says.
"You're not imposing at all. Besides, where else could you possibly go?" Goku states.
This is true, she is a stranger in a very strange land. It's almost like a cartoon version of the Twilight Zone. When she patted her pockets before, she found her iphone and wallet were still there. But her money may not work in a place like this. So, trying to get a hotel room and try to figure out the next step maybe out of the question.
She was also opposed to the idea because she didn't know these men at all. And was unsure if she could trust them. But what else could she really do at this point? She was alone and didn't know how she was going to survive her on her own. Eve already been through that Hell once already when she was a kid. And she refused to let it happen again. This was one time; she may have to take a risk.
"Alright. I really can't thank you guys enough for the offer. If there is a way, I can pay you back one day. I most certainly will." She told them.
Goku smiled, "Great! Don't worry, it will all work out. You're going to like Bulma. And I'm sure she will be happy to have another girl around to talk to."
He held out his hand for her to take. Eve took it with a 'Thanks' as he helped her to her feet. What she was not expecting was for him to then pick her up.
"Whoa! Hey, what the hell are you doing!?" She blurts out.
"Sorry, I guess I should've asked first. Can you fly?" He asks with an awkward giggle.
Eve looks at him like he has three heads.
"What the hell kind of question is that? Of course, I can't fly. It's impossible." She replied.
Goku just smirks at her.
"You may want to hang on then." He says.
Before she could open her mouth to speak, she noticed that he started floating upwards. Eve gasps and looks around and down. Which was a big mistake because she saw that they were already a great deal off the ground. In the corner of her eye, she saw movement to her right, and saw Vegeta hovering mid-air next to Goku.
"What!? How!?" She asks.
Goku chuckles, "It's a lot to explain. We will tell you more when we get you back to Vegeta's place and get you settled in."
"In the meantime, I'd like to get ahold of Lord Beerus and Whis. Perhaps they will know how she came to be here." Vegeta adds.
Her eyes ping pong back and forth between the two men.
"And who are they?" She asked.
The smile still never leaves Goku's face.
"It's like I said, all will be explained once we get you settled in." He reminded her.
Then without giving her warning, the two saiyans took off. It was so sudden and quick that Eve let out a startled yell and tightened her arms around Goku's neck. She gave him an annoyed glare, and he just chuckles and looks ahead. As they covered the area at a quick pace, Eve can't help but feel things will only continue to baffle and surprise her for a longtime to come.
In case anyone was wondering, Goku and Vegeta were out training near the rock formations where they first fought years ago when Vegeta first arrived on Earth with his saiyan comrade Nappa. It was just outside of the woods where Eve mysteriously appeared. So, they are a good way out from South City. Hopefully, Lord Beerus and Whis can shed some light on how she ended up in their Universe. Until Next Time ;)
