The next chapter is posted! Enjoy :)
A couple months later...
Adjusting to this new kind of life has proven to be a bit challenging for Eve. Mainly because she was having a hard time getting over the fact that this may possibly be her life now. It was like going from one extreme to another. One of the hardest adjustments at first was how she was perceiving everything. Coming from her own reality where everything was very sharp and three-dimensional to a world set very much in a cartoon-like setting was still extremely strange to her.
Her only saving grace was being taken in by good people. That day, the two men she encountered had brought her back to one of their homes. Where she was met by a woman whom she learned was Vegeta's Wife. She introduced herself as Bulma and welcomed the young woman straight away into her home. Eve soon realized that the quirky blue haired woman was actually rather easy to talk to.
It didn't take long for Eve to tell her and the rest of the family her story. Many of them were quite surprised when they learned of how she got here and where she came from. It was a little tough describing her reality to them. Only that it had some similarities and differences to the reality she was currently in.
Bulma could tell that Eve was visibly distressed by her whole ordeal. When she pulled her aside afterwards to inquire about her emotional state, Eve eventually confessed that she still feels like she's in shock from everything that had happened to her. She had to swallow back the lump in her throat as she informed the Capsule Corps Heiress that she still believes herself to have died in her reality and somehow her physical essence was mysteriously brought here.
To most it would've sounded like crazy talk. Except Goku and Vegeta were there. They saw a bazaar light and they saw what or should they say, who came out of it. It's because of this, she believed what Eve was saying. Though like her Husband and friend, she didn't believe the young woman died in her reality. Yes, they were all unsure of the strange circumstances on how she came to be here.
A couple months later and currently living out of one the home's many guestrooms, and Eve was still adjusting. The family has been very helpful and supportive on helping her out. Eve's especially thankful for the distraction from the kids. Trunks and Goten were quite the comical duo and Bulla was adorable. But then, she always had a soft spot for kids.
The kids especially were quite infatuated with her reality. They liked hearing her stories about her home and were pretty interested in her job that she did. Even Bulma was pretty impressed with her job. Underwater photography wasn't easy nor the safest job. Anything can go wrong while encountering wild animals and things can go wrong with equipment if not properly inspected.
Yet, Eve seemed to be quite fearless when it came to her job as a Marine Life Photographer. The young woman explained how she barely felt scared while in the water. She grew up near the water and was aware of its dangers and its beauty. It's something the older woman could tell she was very passionate about. Bulma can easily relate because she feels the same about her work and life accomplishments.
As of now, they were awaiting the arrival of Lord Beerus and Whis. Eve was quite nervous because even though she was looking for answers; she was afraid of the answers she'd get from the two deities. They were currently waiting up on the large balcony at one of the tables. Well, Bulma and the kids were at the table. Goku and Vegeta were leaning against the railing. While Eve stood by the table fiddling with the ends of her long t-shirt.
"Take it easy, Hun. I know it's hard but just try to relax." Bulma told the antsy young woman.
Eve closes her eyes and lets out a drawn-out sigh. Before she turns to the older blue haired woman.
"I know, it's just...I feel I'm still having a bit of a hard time adjusting to all of this. I mean, you go from living your own life in your own reality to another reality that still feels strange and alien to them." Eve quickly closed her mouth.
And started thinking maybe by indirectly calling them all strange, she'd clearly just insulted them.
"I'm sorry, Bulma. I didn't mean it that way..." Eve started.
But the Capsule Corp Heiress just raised her hand to tell her to stop. Then Bulma smiled in understanding.
"You don't have to apologize, Eve. I totally get it. Really, I do. I feel if I were in your position, I'd feel the same way. It's as we've been telling you though all along, you're not alone in all of this. We're here to help out in any way we can to help you adjust and feel comfortable. I also think you may feel better once you get answers from Beerus and Whis." Bulma stated.
Eve knew that in a way, she was right. She hated not knowing. She hated not having the answers she wanted when she first ended up here. Now, she has a chance to finally gain the answers to the questions that have been festering in her mind since she came here. She just hopes its answers she can accept.
They weren't chatting much longer, when a bright luminescent light touched down on the balcony. Eve jumped with a gasp at the incredible sight. It closely resembled a beam of light coming down from a spaceship to her. And when the light faded away, beings who could've easily passed as said aliens were now standing there before everyone.
"Greetings, everyone. Apologies for the wait. But it turned out to be a little more challenging to get Lord Beerus out of bed this time than the previous times. Almost had to break out my karaoke machine again this time. Though upon mentioning that that statement is what ended up getting him up and out of bed." Whis said, with laughter in his voice.
While Lord Beerus just turned away with an annoyed look and grumbled something under his breath. Eve couldn't help but stand there in shock and stare at these new strange guests. She's starting to think Bulma downplayed their odd appearance quite a bit. Referring to them looking a bit different certainly was the understatement of the year. But then, they didn't have beings such as these guys back home in her reality. Just one of many things she had to get use to while here.
"Hey, guys. It's not a problem. Food should be out any minute now." Bulma said, as she walked up to the odd pair.
Lord Beerus scanned the surroundings, something he always seems to do upon landing. He picked up an out of place and somewhat odd energy signature to his far right. His big yellow eyes then settled on none other than Eve. Her own blue eyes widened, and she started feeling unsettled by this odd being who seems to be staring her down while studying her.
Whis eventually spotted her too among the crowd of familiar faces.
"This one has a strange energy about her. Which is odd because she does appear to be human." Lord Beerus said to Whis while never taking his eyes off of her.
Whis is silent for a moment as he studies the young woman too. By now Eve was looking everywhere else but at them. Clearly, she felt uncomfortable by their unwavering attention.
"Indeed, I'm starting to feel she is not from around these parts." He pauses for a moment, before speaking again. "But from somewhere else completely." He finishes.
Bulma follows their stares back to her newest house guest. Before she turns back to the two Dieties.
"Ummm, yeah. It's like I told you, we have someone here who is very far from home. She's hoping you can possibly give her answers." She informed Whis.
The two Deities didn't reply to their human friend. Instead, they made a B-Line straight to Eve.
She stood frozen to the spot. Fear started to build up within her and a part of her felt like running and putting as much distance between them and herself as possible. They cleared the distance rather quickly though and now stood in front of her. Both beings towered over her, which added to her anxiety.
"Greeting, My Dear. My name is Whis and this gentleman right here is Lord Beerus. Shall we inquire your name?" He cordially asks.
Eve finally looked up at the two tall beings and hesitantly opened her mouth to speak.
"My name is Eve. It's...very nice to meet you. Uhh yeah, I do have some questions. If you could give me some answers, I'd greatly appreciate it." She uttered.
Whis was about to speak, before Lord Beerus abruptly cut in.
"You're not from around here, are you? Your energy signature is rather peculiar." He said, out of the blue.
His attendant gives him an annoyed sideways glance. Before he turns his attention back to her with a small friendly smile.
"Forgive My Lord's discourteousness. But perhaps, it be better if you tell us a little more about yourself first. It may also help gives us more insight to your plight." Whis stated.
He gestured for her to sit. Eve pulled out a chair to the picnic table behind her and slowly sat down. Whis joined her at the table and sat across from her. Lord Beerus was about to sit. Until a very aromatic smell caught his senses and his eyes drifted to the balcony doors. They opened a couple moments later and one chef after another started walking out with the Lunch Platters.
Instead of taking a seat next to his Attendant, the Destroyer God made his way over to the large buffet table and grabbed a plate. Goku, Vegeta, and some of the others quickly joined him at the table to grab some of the delicious food being served. Of course, Lord Beerus isn't even here for five-minutes before Goku starts bugging him about training again for the hundredth time.
The only ones who haven't gotten in the food line yet were Eve and Whis. He patiently waited for her to start.
"Forgive me, would you like to grab lunch first before starting?" He asks.
"No, no I'm good for now." She stutters.
Whis's grin widens in amusement. He could tell she is rather uncomfortable, and a bit put off by his presence.
"You sure? If it will help you put your mind at ease and feel better, I don't mind waiting. Just know, that you are among friends here and you're not in any danger." He assures the nervous young woman.
The tantalizing smells wafting through the air did remind her that she was pretty hungry like everyone else there. Eve was a bit impatient though and wanted to start explaining. The sooner she explained her dilemma, the faster she may get her answers.
"Thank you, but I'm good for now. I really rather start explaining things first before eating if you don't mind." She spoke.
Whis nods, "Go on then."
Eve takes a deep breath and starts explaining her story as best as she could. She was surprised as she was telling him her story, he didn't seem to bat an eye at what she was saying. She started from the very beginning, which was a little challenging to explain without it sounding a little confusing or farfetched. What she had done that day, before leading it into the event that transpired while she was driving home from work.
Explaining the accident was still rather raw and hard for her. But Eve still didn't want to leave any detail out. Especially if it means he will understand better and can figure out what has brought her here. She explains the blinding light and suddenly ending up in the middle of some woods. How she wasn't alone there for long before Goku and Vegeta found her.
She informed Whis how she tried telling the Saiyans her story upon arrival all the way to her coming to the Brief's Residence. Telling him how scary and confusing the experience was coming to this reality and how baffling it still was; being here in general for her.
Whis listened intently and would nod here and there. Not once has he interrupted her as she spoke. Lord Beerus listened closely as well, having come back from the buffet table with his large amount of food not a couple minutes into the strange young girl's conversation. He too, remained rather stoic as he listened. Eve found it a little odd that they didn't seem all that surprised at what she has been telling them. It was actually pretty unnerving how they mostly had a poker face as she prattled on.
The two Deities could tell she was clearly upset, scared, and confused by this whole ordeal. They didn't blame her; this would be a lot for anyone to take in. Eve eventually finished her story and nervously waited on what they had to say.
"Believe it or not, this is not the first time this has happened. Don't get me wrong, it's an extremely rare occurrence. Something that both Lord Beerus and I have only seen a small handful of times in the past. Though it is a bit hard to describe in mortal terms. I think one may consider it as some kind of 'Divine Intervention'." Whis stated.
Eve was very reluctant to ask but she felt like she needed to know.
"Did..." She was having a hard time getting it out.
"Did I...die in my reality?" She asked, barely above a whisper.
"It's hard to say. Only one of two things could've happened. One being that the intervention happened in the nick of time before you had a chance to parish. Two being...you may have died in your reality. And somehow, your soul traversed through time and space and ended up here. Not only that, but you were able to keep your body as well. In short, your dead there but alive here in this reality. Is any of this making sense to you?" The blue angel asked.
Her heart felt like it had been torn as she swallowed the orange size lump in her throat. Eve's eyes became rather glassy as she nodded in understanding.
"So, your saying; that this really is my life now, and I can't go back?" She asked in a cracked voice.
Whis gave her a sorry look and nodded.
"I'm sorry, Eve. But no, I'm afraid this is it for you. I fear your life has ended in your own reality. In turn, it's not a possibility to return. At least, not to the point where you would be alive again." He confessed.
She closes her eyes and tears started to roll down her cheeks as she nodded.
"I know it's not the answers you were hoping to hear. But consider this, for whatever reason; you have been given a second chance at life. It just so happens to be in this form of reality than the one you know. The fates may have intervened for a reason, or it was simply by chance you were brought here. The very few other instances that this happened throughout the millennia always seem to have remained a mystery for those few individuals.
At least to my knowledge that is. I never really kept tabs on the few beings this happened to. Perhaps they did find reasons behind it, or they simply just started over with their new lease on life. Still, it's as I stated earlier; this may simply just be your second chance. And though it may not seem like it to you; you are considerably very lucky to have this chance. Though it is true that every mortal starts out in a new life at some point; it doesn't tend to happen instantly like it has for you. For most it generally could take years, decades, centuries, or even a millennia to be reincarnated into a new body with a clean slate." He explained.
Eve understood what he meant. And she also knows that what he is saying is true. This is a second chance. And despite it being a different reality; she is alive and well. Though another thought did pop up in her mind and she had to ask.
"If people really do get reincarnated into a new life or start a completely new one altogether than why did I start my life like this? Shouldn't I have been reborn as a baby or something as part as starting over in a new life?" She asks.
"In majority of cases; Yes. That is what's supposed to occur. But when a soul is instantaneously brought to another reality like in a case such as yours; you generally keep your own body and start from the point where you died in your previous one. Don't ask how. It's something that still remains a mystery to even us deities to this very day." Lord Beerus stated.
This was the first time the God of Destruction had put his two cents in since the conversation started. It is the truth though. Not even the deities know why that's to be the case for these very few selected individuals. He himself has only ever heard of it happening only a couple times during his time as a Destroyer. Though he has a feeling Whis may have witnessed more of these individuals cropping up at one point in time.
"Unfortunately, this is true. We are unsure of the mystery behind it. We can only assume that the fates intended for it to be that way for some reason or another. If there is a reason behind it though, there is a good chance you may never figure out why that is. I wouldn't bother harping on it either. It's best you accept this new life by starting fresh and moving forward with it. This is the best advice we can give you." Whis told her.
Eve knew what he was telling her. Yet, it's easier said than done. How do you start over at this point when your previous life had a clear-cut path for you? She had a home and a career she loved. How would she be able to start that up again here when it took her years to do just that at home in her reality?
Whis can see the warring conflict going on within her.
"Just take it one day at a time, Eve. Everything will eventually fall into place. Your first step; is to accept this new life and opportunity and go from there." He stated.
She's quiet for a few moments, before she finally answers.
"Ok, I will." Eve says with a nod.
Not a moment later, a plate of food was slid over to her from her left. Eve looked over and noticed Bulma sitting down not far from her. The older woman gave her a reassuring smile as she handed her a glass of water with her meal. Eve smiled back and thanked her. It reminded her that she wasn't alone in all this. She had good people here that were fine with helping her through this. And she will try to take this new life in strides.
Hey, everyone! Sorry for the very long delay. But as you all know, this is an extremely busy time of year. Meaning there was a lot of stuff to get done as the Holidays draw closer. But I'm glad to announce that everything that I needed to get done in preparations for X-Mas and New Year's is complete. And now I have more time to type up new chapters. As an apology, I made this chapter extra-long. I also apologize if things seem to be moving a bit slowly in this story. I promise it won't be too much longer before our favorite Pint Size Tyrant makes an appearance in future chapters. I just really wanted to get certain topics like Eve being here out of the way first before the story progresses. Until Next Time ;)
