Everything was dark. Kat couldn't see anything.
"What's going on? Where am I?" she yelled into the darkness. She looks around but the only thing she could see was black darkness. Then it began. It was quiet at first and Kat coldn't tell what it was, but eventually it began to grow louder and louder. It soon became to loud.
The noise of laughter filled Kats ears, and she tried to cover her ears, but her body was stiff. She tried to scream, but nothing came out. Eventually the laughing stopped, and everything in Kats vision went white.
Kat woke up startled. She was sweating furiously, and her heart was beating fast.. She checked to move her arms, and surely enough, the could move.
"What an odd dream." Kat thinks to herself as she begins to stand up. She stands up, and begins to go through her daily routine. As she begins to walk to school, she feels dizzy, and a sense of hopelessness fills her. She stops in the middle of the street.
Cars stop, halting in front of the frozen Kat. Honking horns and yelling fill the air as Kat begins to sway. She starts to lean forward, and falls. As she begins to black out, the only thing she can hear are sirens, people yelling, and two girls running towards her. Then everything goes dark.
The ambulance arrives at the scene, and Akina hops into the ambulance as well. Tears well at the corner of her eyes, and she wipes them away.
-Fifteen minutes later-
Kat is lying in a hospital bed. Akina, Julia, Amber and Anka are sitting next to her bed. Kat wakes up, a small daze in her eyes.
"Hi guys. My head really hurts, and hey- why am I in a hospital bed." Kat asks, a confusion in her voice.
Akina looks at Kat, with relief filling her face. She says with a shaky voice "You did it again. You blacked out on the street. You also got a nasty gash on your face."
Kat winces as she sits up. "Again?" she asks her friends. She touches her cheek, and sure enough there is bandage.
Akina nods sadly. Julia walks over, her eyes have tears in the corner. She put her hand on Kats bed and says "Kaitlyn excused you from school, and from Sensha-do practice. It sucks."
Kat stutter a bit, and says "Excusing me from Sensha-do?! I'll be fine by than! Kaityln should know that!"
Julia looks back at Kat and says "Shes afraid its been happening to often, and its caused by stress. She wants you to have a break. Your condition is still leaving you like this. Akina will be calling the shots. Just rest for now."
Akina gives a grin and says, "I'll promise I'll be a better commander than you." Kat looks to her and smiles. And with that, her three friends leave the room, and she slowly buts her head back down into the piano, and stares at the bland ceiling.
Time begins to fly by, and she sits there. At some point, there is a knock on the door, and Kaitlyn lets herself in.
"Hey Kat!" She says with a cheerful greeting. In her hand is a small binder, with a stack of papers in it. "Here's all the work you missed today. I made sure that it wasn't stupidly long or anything." and she puts it down on the small table next to Kat's bed
"Thanks Kaitlyn." Kat says, and opens the binder. Kaitlyn smiles, a accomplished look comes over her face, and she leaves.
Kat sighs and begins to work. It was until an hour later, Akina bursts through the door, and announcing very loudly "Hey Tabby Kat!" one of Kat's least favorite nicknames. Kat cringes a bit but looks up. Akina has a bruise on her cheek, and behind her, Julia's hair is a bit of mess, and Amber looks like she got out of a zoo exhibit.
"Look at you guys! You're all a mess!" Kat says with a snicker as Julia begins to comb her hair down. "What did I miss?"
"You didn't miss much Kat, first ones shot down cause your ass was in the hospital." Akina says. "Without anyone to 'command' us according to Julia, we were wiped out instantly."
"I'm even surprised that you weren't the first! You would have been decimated!" Kat says, and she looks over her friends shoulder. A nurse walks in and says to Kat.
"Mrs. Katsumi? You are free to go." She says, bows her head and leaves the room. Kat, begins to sit up, and stretches out, some of her bones making a cracking noise.
"I hate sitting down forever. I get so stiff, blegh." Kat says and the group walk out of the hospital. The sun was still in the air, but Kat noticed it was getting darker quickly. "We should get back to the dorm rooms, its getting dark, and I haven't eaten dinner yet."
The group begins to run towards the dorm rooms. As they run by the shops, Kat stops by the Italian restaurant, and quickly orders food. AS she runs out, Kat looks back into the sky, slowly getting darker by the second.
She holds up the bags and they begin to run, and they rush down her dorm room , and close the door.
