Chapter 2

''Mrs Granger?''

Hermione looked up at the source of the voice- a young woman. She smiled with difficulty and took the book from the woman's hands. She opened it and scribbled her signature on the first page before shoving it back in the woman's hands.

''What?'' she asked, annoyed, when she saw that the woman was still standing there.

''I have news for you, ma'am'' the woman said, her voice quivering eagerly.

Hermione looked up, hope lighting up her eyes. She would not listen to the woman unless she had news about Charlie's murder. She glared at the woman and smirked slightly.

''What news?'' she asked.

''Only news of Charles Weasley's death, ma'am!'' the woman replied.

Hermione raised one of her eyebrows and she said, ''On with it then.''

''I will tell you in exchange for something'' the young woman answered.

Hermione dropped a few golden coins on the table. The young woman looked dow at them for a moment before shaking her head. Hermione sighed and pushed a small sack of gold across the table. The young woman's eyes widened with delight and she snatched it and tucked it in her pocket. She leaned forward and her eyes glazed over. Her mouth opened, her lips as dry as a desert, and spoke in quiet husky tones. Hermione pulled a notebook to her and started scribbling feverishly down what the woman said.

''Charles was not the only one

The madness has not yet begun

Soon there shall be none

So figure it out before you're the only one''

The woman shook her head slightly, looking bewildered, and opened her mouth to speak but a high pitched scream interrupted. The scream sounded again and Hermione jumped up, throwing the notebook in her purse, snatching the purse, and running in the direction of the sound. She finally found herself in a large open space where a two women stood in front of what was undeniably a dead body. The woman who had screamed was tall and blonde, with tear filled blue eyes. The other woman was tall with long black hair and huge, beautiful asian eyes. Hermione instantly recognised the latter.

''Cho Chang?'' she asked uncertainly.

Cho looked up. Her face broke out in a beautiful smile.

''Hello!'' she said.

''You! Step back!'' Hermione shouted at the blonde. Suddenly she noticed that the blonde was drooling from her mouth and her pupils were slightly red. She wasn't screaming because of the dead body; she was screaming because she had been hit by a curse. The Maladonna Curse was a deadly curse that hurt you so much, you lost your mind. The blonde had been definitely hit with it. Hermione knew that if she didn't do something soon, the blonde would be killed.

''Cho, what happened?'' Hermione shouted wildly.

''I don't know!'' Cho explained tearfully. ''I came here and she was like this!''

''What's going on?''

The St. Mungo's Healers had arrived. The healers quickly ran towards the blonde and hoisted her into their flying van. When they had closed the doors, a healer turned to Hermione with a worried look.

''Who did this? Doing this would cause a lifetime in Azkhaban!'' the healer explained.

''I'm not sure. I'm Hermione Granger, Wizarding detective. I want to speak to that girl and see who did this to her,'' Hermione answered, thinking of the young woman's prophesy.

''I'm sorry, honey, but at the moment you can't. Come this afternoon, won't you?'' the healer said. ''Call for Mary Thripp. That's me.''

''Ms Hermione Granger?''

Hermione looked up. She quickly stood up, ecstatic to finally meet the blonde girl. The healer looked sadly at her and said, ''I'm afraid the blonde won't live long so question her all you want.''

Hermione nodded and followed the healer into a silent, white room. In a bed in the middle of the room, the blonde was sitting, muttering furiously. Hermione took out her notebook and carefully made her way to the middle of the room. She sat silently on a chair next to the bed, preparing to write down everything.

''Hello'' she said quietly.

The blonde girl turned around slowly and focused her blank eyes on Hermione. She blinked once, as if nodding.

''Can you speak?'' Hermione asked, pointing at her mouth.

''Yes,'' the girl said in a hoarse voice.

''Who attacked you?'' Hermione said gently, poising her pen to write.

The girl shook her head feverishly with terrified eyes.

''I- It was. S-s-seek. OH!'' the girl grabbed the front of Hermione's shirt and pulled her closer. ''I have not time. Need tell somebody. No one believe!''

And with that the girl fell back, still and pale. She was dead.

Hermione had written everything the girl had said in the notebook. She looked down at it now. Her mind was swirling with suspects. And theories as well. Could Charlie's murderer be the same person who cursed the blonde? But why? And where did the young woman fit into this?
