There's not much Ron/Hermione yet but there will be soon.

Chapter 3

She was surrounded by darkness. Everywhere she looked, the was darkness. She looked up slightly and saw a light flicker in the distance. She walked to it like in a daze.

''C'mere, 'Ermione! C'mere!'' a spooky voice whispered.

She shook her head, trying to gain control of her senses but she went further. She stopped again, stomping her foot but she was pushed closer to the light. She saw that it was a fire. She tried to step back but she only went closer. Very soon, she was standing at the edge. One more step and she would fall. She screamed as she was pushed and heard an evil laugh as her body was devoured by flames.

Hermione woke up, her eyes wide with fear and her chest heaving. She was at the Burrow, she realised. She turned slightly and saw that the bed on the other side of the room was made neatly and deserted; Ginny must have gone downstairs. Hermione kicked off her covers and took a small shower before throwing on a simple shirt and some jeans. She didn't bother much with her hair, preferring to brush it out and put it in a ponytail. After she was ready, she ran downstairs and took a seat at the table.

''Glad, you are finally here, Hermione!'' Ginny said, earning her a scowl.

''You look nice'' Ron mumbled from beside Hermione. Hermione blushed furiously and filled her mouth with pancakes to avoid answering.

Mrs Weasley smiled and piled more pancakes on Hermione's plate. Hermione opened her mouth to refuse but when she saw the amount of maple syrup Mrs Weasley put on her pancakes she shut her mouth. Ginny scowled.

''How come she gets so much syrup?'' she asked, annoyed.

''Because she has a big day ahead of her! She has to solve Charlie's-'' Mrs Weasley's face went white and her eyes blurred with tears.

''Let's just eat!'' Hermione said hastily, stuffing pancakes in her mouth. Mrs Weasley nodded and started to eat her food while wiping her eyes with a handkerchief.

Hermione finished her breakfast quickly and decided to go back to the crime site. Ron offered to go with her and Hermione reluctantly agreed.

''Need to take any condoms, Hermione?'' Harry asked with a smirk.

Hermione scowled and indignantly exclaimed, ''No!''

''Ron's not that good at the old shag, 'Mione'' George piped up with a grin.

''Boys, stop!'' Mrs Weasley called out and they immediately stopped taunting her. Hermione grinned victoriously and picked up her purse. She strode outside and beckoned to Ron.

''We're going to Crackturn Valley, alright?'' she said to him, checking whether they had everything they needed.

''Uh, why?'' Ron asked nervously.

''Because that's where the woman gave me the prophesy, that blonde was cursed and someone died!'' Hermione answered with a roll of her eyes.

''Right'' Ron said with a nod.

Hermione and Ron both apparated to Crackturn alley. Hermione immediately set down her handbag and took out a magnifying glass and her notebook out. She paced around the spot where the blonde was cursed, occasionally bending down to inspect something with squinting eyes. Ron took out a wrapped up sandwich from Hermione's bag and began to eat.

''Uh huh!'' Hermione exclaimed suddenly.

''What is it?'' Ron asked eagerly.

''This!'' Hermione held up a torn white card with some words on it.

''What is it?'' Ron asked.

''The person who cursed the blonde must have dropped it! Let me check if it has the same fingerprints. Profeeto!'' Hermione chanted and the card turned blue. ''It does!''

''What does it say?'' Ron asked.

''It's torn but it says that the card owner's profession is an auror. Hmmm. And there's the word revenge here. We can check. Whoever has the same handwriting is probably the murderer!''

''Isn't there a spell?'' Ron asked obviously.

''There isn't. Come on! Let's write a list of suspects!'' Hermione said gleefully.

Taking their things, the two disapparated. Who knows what would come of them? They themselves did not know!
