The next chapter is up! Enjoy :)

The weeks continued to crawl by through the rest of the month. And neither of them mentioned what nearly took place down in the basement. The two of them avoided direct eye contact for a while afterwards. Eve didn't know what to think of what almost happened between them. And Frieza just keeps trying to deny to himself that nothing happened.

She fell into him, he caught her to keep her steady and...that was that. Then why did his body react to the situation the way it did? He recalls his body heating up and his heart rate starting to speed up as her face drew closer to his. He laid in bed that night staring up at the ceiling deep in thought. The tyrant ran a hand down his face in frustration.

'I've been stuck here for so long; that my mind is starting to wander places.' He surmised.

But is that all it was? Or is him constantly being around her starting to make him grow fond of the young human woman who's been helping him heal? He was still getting a little stronger each day. His leg was mending nicely and getting stronger as well. He can walk on it a little easier now than a couple weeks ago. Which was a relief for him because he was sick and tired of those damn crutches since day one.

Though, Frieza needed to be reminded at times that he still needed to be careful. There were still a couple of times he stumbled and nearly fell which resulted in a painful twinge shooting up and down his leg. Then had to endure one of many of Eve's scolding's for it. She thought he was too eager and moving a little too fast. Still, that's common for people who have broken or fractured bones. They get fidgety and restless and just want to be able to move about freely again.

She felt the same way when she fractured her ankle several years back. Eve just every now and then needs to remind him to be patient and that he was getting there.

"Just take it easy. You don't want to end up something you really regret. Then you will find yourself back at square one all over again." She told him one day.

"I am. I'm not rushing this. But I am getting a bit restless the longer I'm like this. It's bad enough my power is gone but being injured on top of that is a grave insult to injury." He snapped irritably.

Something Frieza instantly regretted because he knew she meant well and was just looking after his wellbeing. He apologized for his small outburst afterwards. Luckily, Eve understood. She was pretty edgy herself the whole time her ankle was healing. Not to mention it made her job harder because she couldn't really get in the water for a while until it healed up some more.

She still frequently goes down to the basement to exercise and practice her moves on the bag. Eve has gotten better with her moves since Frieza showed her the correct way to execute them. Sadly, he hasn't been down since that first time since she fell into him, and they almost did something neither of them never would've thought to do in a million years.

Surprisingly, Eve felt rather hurt that he barely acknowledged that it happened afterwards. She did try to bring it up a couple times, but the tyrant would swiftly change topics clearly trying to avoid talking about it. As if he were ashamed. It kind of leaves her wondering if he ever even been with anyone before. There were a couple occasions she wanted to ask him, but felt it was too personal a question to ask.

Sure, Frieza may have opened up quite a bit about his life. But that didn't mean he'd have to tell her every aspect of it. And Eve knew not to pry either. He never pried into her personal life, so she did the same. It didn't mean she didn't find the Galactic Emperor any less intriguing. And in the coming weeks she found him easier to live with than before when he first came.

Even he will he agree he's starting to find her way more tolerable than before in the beginning. Which is saying a lot because there were definitely times, they drove each other up the wall.

Still, he knew Eve wanted to inquire more of what happened or shall they say nearly happened down in the basement a while back. Truth is, he's not ready to address it. Sure, despite being of another race, he finds her to be quite attractive. That doesn't mean any good can come out of this though. Death always seems to have a way of finding him. And he doesn't want to see Eve get her. Not like what happened to...her.

No, he will not think of her. She's long gone, just like his home world. His Father made sure of that. It wasn't long after that when he finally shut out his emotions for good. Because it always seems whoever he cares about he ends up losing. First, his mother then his past love. Both killed by King Cold himself.

"Hey, are you ok?" Eve asks.

She noticed he was quietly sitting on the couch and had a faraway look on his face as he stared ahead at the small fire blaring in the fireplace across the room from where he was sitting. He quickly turned his gaze to her when she spoke and came to sat down next to him.

"Yes, I'm fine. Just...had something on my mind. Something I haven't thought about for a very long time." Frieza admitted.

Eve gives him her full attention now.

"Like?" She inquires.

He sighs, "It's...complicated and personal. Plus, I've never shared it with anyone before."

"It's ok, I understand. We don't have to talk about it then." She says.

"It's just...things always seem to go wrong with me. Everything I touch dies; even if it's an indirect result." Frieza confesses.

She somewhat gets what he's saying to extent. After all Eve is aware that he has destroyed many planets and civilizations in his lifetime. But she's having a hard time putting together what he means when he says he's indirectly involved with another's death.

"What do you mean by indirect result?" Eve asked.

Frieza opens then closes his mouth a couple times trying to figure out what to say. He ends up falling short though and shakes his head.

"Nothing." He says.

He instead quickly switches topics again. Something she finds he's quite good at.

"Would you like to see if there is anything on? May be one of your favorite 'Haunting' Programs is on." He teases her.

Eve rolls her eyes, of course he would tease her when it came to her fascination with the paranormal. He still teases her for her vast interest in the unexplained like hidden creatures such as Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, Werewolves, etc... It got even worse when he found her small collection of books on Cryptozoology and when he walked in on her watching a program about supposed sightings of these elusive cryptids.

"What's so fascinating about this Bigfoot anyway? You humans smell funny, seldom throw things, and yell at times too. So, what's the difference?" He joked one day.

She retorted by telling him how he smells funny at times too. Mainly because she believes he doesn't bathe enough. Of course, he completely denies it claiming that he bathes plenty and doesn't smell. Though Eve laughed when she caught him out of the corner of her eye quickly lift his arm and sniff before pulling it back down.

"Well, I do believe there is a new special on 'These Woods Are Haunted'. So, toss me the remote, Albino Boy." Eve joked.

Frieza rolls his eyes at the name but reaches to the end table on his side for the remote. He turns to her with a smirk and holds out the remote. When Eve goes to take it from him though, he pulls it out of reach. She arches a brow at this and reaches for it again. Only for him to pull it away again.

"Really? We are doing this now?" She says.

"Just testing your reflexing. They appear to be quite slow still. I think you should work on that next when you go down to the basement." He teases.

Eve levels him with a look before quickly lunging at him to grab the remote. Frieza still saw this though and held it up over his head. She reaches up for it and this brings them in quite close to each other, especially their faces. His smirk never leaves his face as he continues to tease her. After a few moments she wraps her hand around it, but he still has yet to relinquish his hold on it.

At this time, he found her attempts rather amusing and Eve was still a bit oblivious to how close her face is now to his. She gets on her knees for more leverage and begins to pull back. There started to be a bit of a struggle, but it still was hilarious watching her trying to pull it out of his grip.

What he wasn't expecting was for her to roughly arch her back and lean back with her weight. Frieza got a face full of her shirt and her chest at this move. It was enough to catch him off guard and he lost his balance causing him to fall on top of her. Eve was surprised when his weight crashed into her, and she ended up falling back onto the couch on her back with him on top of her.

They stared at each other wide eyed, and his eyes slowly drifted down to her parted lips as she inhaled and exhaled with each pant from the slight exertion. Eve's cheeks started to flush pink and she could feel his breath on her lips. It was the basement all over again. And just like then, they started leaning in again.

Her eyes fluttered close when she felt his lips softly brush hers. Frieza's kiss was light and gentle. It made her heart skip a beat. His own heart started to beat a little faster and his mind became a little fuzzy. He pressed his lips more firmly to hers and was a bit surprised when Eve started to reciprocate.

After a few moments the kiss began to deepen. Frieza gently cupped the back of her head while Eve reached up and caressed his cheeks. He pushed his tongue past her lips and caressed hers which caused her to let out a small barely audible moan. He still heard it though and his eyes snapped open as he quickly pulled back and retreated.

Frieza sat back up trying to get his breathing back under control. Eve still laid there for a few more moments trying to slow hers back down as well before she too sat up. A look of hurt flashed through her blue orbs as he quickly looked away.

"What's...what's wrong?" She hesitantly asks.

He closes his eyes and sighs before he finally redirects his gaze back to her.

"I'm sorry, I just...I don't think anything good will come of this." Frieza replied.

He felt a twinge at her crestfallen look. Unfortunately, Frieza still believes this to be the truth. Nothing could come of this. Whether it be here in her reality or in his, Eve's life would just be in danger, if they were to take this further.

"Because of who you are, right?" Eve inquires, barely above a whisper.

"There are just so many factors involved. But yes, it is. Either way it will only end up in you getting hurt. Which is something I...don't want to see happen to you." Frieza finally admitted.

Her eyes became glassy, and she closed them trying to get her emotions under control. Eve knew he was right, but that didn't make his words hurt any less. At least he was thinking about her wellbeing. Something he never would've cared for in the past. Her heart was hurting though. Sure, her past self would cringe at the idea of engaging in a make out session with the likes of him.

Within these last few months, he was here though, things started to gradually change between them. She noticed how he started to change right before her very eyes. Frieza was a cold calculating monster when they first met. Hell, he was about to kill her right before they ended up back in her reality. Still, what she sees before her now, seems like a completely different person then he was then.

Either that or her mounting affections for him is clouding her judgement. It's hard to remind herself though that he is an alien and not human. That alone is enough to signify how this could never work.

"I...I understand." She eventually got out.

Frieza could tell how this was deeply affecting her. He could also see Eve was trying hard to hold back tears but quickly failing. He reached out towards her to place a hand on her arm.

"I think I'm going to go down and exercise." She says, as she pulls out of his reach and stands up.

He's silent for a moment, then nods his head. Eve turns around and walks away trying to swallow the painful lump in her throat. She doesn't need a change of clothes seeing as she's already in a t-shirt and leggings. She quickly makes her way through the kitchen and opens the door to the basement.

She closes it behind her and descends to the bottom. Eve shoves her feet into a pair of slip-on sneakers that were sitting on the floor around the corner from the stairs then trudges over to her stationary bike. She hops on but doesn't select any settings. Just starts powering through. She battles with her emotions with each push of the pedals. It was like she was trying to outpace them. Trying hard to leave them behind.

In the end, Eve was failing miserably. Her vision began to blur and not even a minute later she stopped pedaling and started to sob. Hot tears cascaded down her cheeks and her heart felt heavy.

Upstairs, Frieza wasn't doing much better. He sat there in the couch; his fists clenched at his sides. He may have lost his strength, speed, and power. But his senses still remained very acute. And he could faintly hear her sobs from downstairs. It took a lot not to go down there, wrap his arms around her, and apologize once more. And tell her they can make it work.

Unfortunately, he can't do that. Because in his mind and heart he just knew there most likely is not a way for this to work. There was a sharp pang in his chest. It was a feeling he hasn't felt in decades. And it was one he was hoping he'd never feel again. And here it was, happening again. Funny, he never thought he was capable of feeling like this ever again. Believing that part of him died a long time ago.

And ironically, these strong feelings were brought out by this headstrong human woman. A human...of all beings.

Eve stayed down there for quite some time. She did have a t.v. hooked up down there. So, she stayed there for a while. While Frieza remained upstairs and has yet to move from the couch. If both of them knew one thing; everything was really growing more complicated between them as time went on. And neither of them knew of a solution around it nor were they sure they wanted a way around it.

Life really did feel cruel and ironic at this point. And it truly sucks.

Looks like things are getting quite serious and heated between the two of them. Sadly, Frieza did make a pretty valid point. How could they make something like this work? After all, they were two different beings from two completely different realities. Until Next Time ;)
