The next chapter is up! Enjoy :)
Eve woke up the next morning and lazily rolled to her other side. Her brows furrowed when she noticed Frieza wasn't there. She pressed her hand to his side of the bed and dragged it up and down the sheets. It was cool to the touch which meant he left the bed some time ago.
She got up and ran a hand through her long and slightly tangled locks. Eve looked at the small digital clock on her nightstand. The bright red numbers showed it was 9:42am. The house seemed really quiet, to the point it was a bit unsettling. She also started feeling something was off. So, she quickly changed out of her clothes from yesterday that she fell asleep in last night.
Eve then left the room and set her sights on the door across the hall to Frieza's Room. The door was partly open. She pushed it open a little more and peaked in. Only to find he wasn't in the room. She then retreated from the room and walked down the hall to the living room. When she saw he wasn't there either she really begun to worry.
She looked around the room and saw a small piece of folded up paper on one of the end tables. As Eve walked over to the small table, she noticed there was writing on it. On one side of the folded-up piece of paper was her name. There was more writing on the inside so, she opened it to take a look. What was written on it made her heart crack and she felt her vision start to blur.
'I know you will be upset upon reading this. Had there been another solution I would've taken it. Sadly, the truth is there isn't any other way. I knew if I continued to stay here, I'd only put you in harm's way. Something I never wish to do. In my long existence I never met anyone as special as you.
You brought out a side of me I long thought dead. At first, I hated you for it. But the more time I spent around you I started to see things differently. It's ironic when one starts to see things from a very human perspective. It's certainly given me a lot of insight to things. Most I have you to thank for.
I hope you can understand why I made this decision. I'm also well aware that by doing so you may never see me again. But this had to be done, because knowing that my discovery may possibly lead to you getting hurt or worse, I feel that would destroy me even more. And that is why I decided leaving was for the best. I figure that if I turned myself in, I could dissuade them from coming after you. That they could turn all the focus on the problem at hand, Me.
I know your upset with this decision. But it's for the best. And please, don't go looking for me. It's not worth putting yourself in danger. All I want, is for you to continue to live your life.
Thank you, for making a difference in my life.
~Frieza
Eve couldn't contain her sobs anymore. And after finishing that last sentence she let all the heartache pour out. She dropped back onto the couch with her head hung down and covered her face with her hands. The pain she was feeling right now in her heart was agonizing. In all her years, she never felt this grief-stricken. Not since before she was living on the streets. It's a feeling she buried hoping to never feel again. Only for it to rear its ugly head to the surface once again.
She sat there for what seemed like hours just crying. Before she started taking deep breaths to calm herself. Her sadness gave way to fear which eventually led to desperation. Eve got up from the couch and started pacing back and forth. She refused to just let it be like this. She refused to let him go. But most of all, she knew wherever it was they were holding him, his life was in danger.
It all still felt pointless, but she didn't know what else she could do. Eve just had to try. She looked up and cleared her throat.
"Whis? If your there, please answer me." Eve said.
She started to despair when she was met with silence. But a part of her refused to give up.
"Whis! Lord Beerus, please! If you can hear me at all, I'm in trouble! Frieza was taken and he's in danger!" Eve said, even louder.
More silence ensued and her fear gave way to intense anger.
"GODDAMMIT I KNOW YOU ALL CAN HEAR ME! I NEED YOU HERE NOW! FOR CHRIST'S SAKE IT'S A FUCKING EMERGENCY!" She screamed.
Eve started huffing and puffing trying to get her anger back under control. Then a few moments later she heard a familiar voice that she's been longing to hear.
'Calm down, Eve. I've heard you. we'll be there shortly.' Whis said.
She closes her eyes and sighs in relief.
"Please, hurry. We don't have much time." Eve responds.
She was met with silence yet again. Then nearly a minute later there was a strong gust of wind. Things started blowing around the room like there was a tornado inside the place. As quickly as it started it stopped not long after a bright flash of light temporarily blinded her. And when she pulled her hand away from her eyes, she was met with a few familiar figures.
Standing before her right in front of her fireplace were Lord Beerus, Whis, and surprisingly they brought Goku and Vegeta with them. The saiyans looked around in surprise and curiosity.
"Whoa! Why does everything look so different here!? This is insane!" Goku blurted out in amazement, as he continued to look around.
Eve was rather stunned with how they look here in real life. Whis's appearance looks like that of a man only with light blue almost sparkly skin and just like his cartoon self, had the same dainty features about him. Goku and Vegeta obviously just looked like your run of the mill human men. Only quite buff just like they were in their own reality.
Lord Beerus's appearance was the most startling of all though. He looked like one of those renowned hairless cats. A tall humanoid looking one. His skin was still purplish, but his features were more defined. Their train of thought was broken, when Goku started laughing. They all turned to him with questioning looks to see him holding his stomach with one hand while pointing his other hand towards Lord Beerus.
"Lord Beerus! What happened!? You look like an old saggy leathery suitcase!" Goku said, between laughs.
One of the Destroyer's ears twitched in agitation as he leveled the carefree saiyan with a glare.
"I suggest you change your tune. Otherwise, when we go back, we will leave you here." Lord Beerus threatened.
Goku eventually stopped laughing, but his grin was still ever present on his face. Then his attention was drawn to the young woman standing across from them. He squinted while slowly looking her up and down. And then it clicked, and his trademark smirk reappeared.
"Eve! It's you!" He said, as he made his way around the coffee table and pulled her in for a bear hug.
The hug lifted the petite woman off of her feet.
"Whoa! Easy there big guy! I missed you too! But your kind of crushing me right now!" Eve blurted out.
He eased her back down with a sorry.
"It's great to see you all again." Eve paused. "But I have a lot of questions too."
"We figured you would. Perhaps we should sit down. There's quite a bit to explain and it may be a lot to take in." Whis told her.
She slowly sat back down on the couch, all while keeping her eyes on him. Eve knew whatever it was he was going to tell her will be a lot to take in. And what it may be is something that Frieza knew and has been trying to tell her all along.
Goku plopped down next to her on the couch. Vegeta came around the other side and took up the far-right corner of the couch. While Lord Beerus and Whis took up the two recliners. Eve had her hands in her lap and started to fidget anxiously in her seat.
"You knew, didn't you? You all knew all along." Eve stated.
Whis gave her a brief nod.
"Indeed, we did." He replied.
"Uh, know what exactly?" Goku asked dumbly.
Vegeta too had a questioning look on his face. Until it finally hit him.
"You were responsible for her ending up in our Universe and sending her back here. Weren't you, Whis?" The saiyan prince deduced.
"That is correct." Whis replied. He turned his violet gaze back to Eve.
"I assure you there was a good reason behind it all. I just didn't tell you when you first came because I didn't believe you were ready to hear it. I now know it was wrong not to mention anything a little sooner. Especially, after I saw it was starting to get a little risky for you two." The blue angel admitted.
Vegeta looked around before turning his attention back to Whis.
"What do you mean two? Who else is here?" He asks.
"I sent Frieza to this reality with Eve." Whis confessed.
"Why? Why would you do that? More importantly, why involve me from the start?" Eve asked him.
"Because he saw your fate. Had Whis not teleported you to our Dimension, you would've died. The wreck would've killed you instantly. And had he not teleported you back here when he did, Frieza would've killed you back on his ship." Lord Beerus answered her questions for her.
She covered her mouth with a gasp. Eve was in disbelief and shock. Tears started to build back up in the corner of her eyes. Sensing her distress, Goku placed a hand on her back in comfort. He can tell this was surely a lot for her to take in.
"Now you know why we were hesitant to tell you all of this from the start." Whis said.
"Why did you send Frieza here too? You could've just teleported me back. Why send him here with me? Was it an accident or mistake?" Eve asked.
"Whis doesn't make mistakes." Lord Beerus said.
"At least...not to that extent." He added with a smirk.
His attendant just rolls his eyes and mumbles something under his breath.
Eve opens her mouth to ask; then why again. But the Destroyer beat her to it.
"It was for him to learn a lesson. And it looks like it worked." Lord Beerus says.
She furrowed her brows, "I don't understand. What lesson?"
"Let's just say he found his humanity again. We knew it wouldn't be easy and it would take some time. And for a long time, both Lord Beerus and myself thought he was beyond redemption. That is until the Tournament of Power. While Frieza was involved with the tournament, there were times we saw glimpses of his long-lost humanity. Most would believe everything he did during the tournament was to benefit himself.
But we saw the truth. It was minute and small, but it was there. He may have put his all into that last fight against Jiren. It wasn't purely on his own behalf though. We firmly believe he did care about his Universe and did not want to see it destroyed. This is why he was willing to help Goku and the others during the tournament and again help Goku and Seventeen in that final showdown." Whis explained.
Vegeta was still skeptical and in disbelief though.
"What you say is ridiculous. I've known the little bastard my whole life. And he's as evil as they come. As far as the tournament goes, he just simply didn't want to be erased with the rest of us. Don't forget he also tried to kill Kakarot with an energy ball of destruction when they were ambushed right before the tournament. And the countless times he almost betrayed us and tried to bargain with fighters from the other Universes to wish him back if he fought for them." The saiyan prince argued.
"It's true, he still has a devious nature. One which led him to that sneaky attack on Goku after their skirmish with those Ninth Universe Assassins. And as far as trying to bargain with the other fighters, that was all merely a ploy. Manipulation has always been a very powerful tool and advantage for him. He wanted to see how much he can throw off his opponents and get them to drop their guard." Whis said.
"You of all people know this, Goku. He's done it many times before during all your fights with him." Whis added, as he looked to the orange clad saiyan.
Goku was silent for a couple moments but nodded.
"Yeah, he definitely knows what to say to try and throw you off in battle. But I do agree with you. I think there is more to him that meets the eye." He replied.
"And there was, he just simply needed a push in the right direction." Whis informed them.
His gaze went back to Eve.
"And that push just so happened to involve you, Eve. We knew it would take a special person to connect with him. You awakened something in him that hasn't been present since he was a child." The angel told her.
"I understand, because I have seen it for myself. But why was it imperative that he relearn his humanity? What was your reasoning behind it?" She asks.
Eve knew well enough after spending months in the DBZ Universe that Lord Beerus and Whis always did things for a reason. So, what would be their reasoning on why they would try to make a ruthless tyrant see the error of his ways and reconnect with his humanity?
"Because there are still many dangerous universal threats out there. And our Universe would benefit much more in having Frieza as an ally rather than an enemy. As powerful as Goku and Vegeta may come, there will still be times they will all need to work together to bring down future threats. From what we have witnessed through my sphere throughout these last several months, he clearly has changed.
We know with you in his life and his change in demeanor that perhaps he may be more willing to work alongside the saiyans when the time calls for it. This is why we sent him here with you. And why we brought you to our reality. Because we knew at some point you two would cross paths. We just had to time it right to do so. And as Lord Beerus stated earlier, we saved you just in the nick of time. Otherwise, you would've been dead." Whis concluded.
This really was a lot for Eve to take in. She doesn't regret the feelings she has developed towards Frieza, and she knew what he felt for her was real. Hell, he just gave himself up and risked his life to save her. The evidence was still clutched in her hand and written on paper. Still, a part of her was angry at the thought that her and Frieza were kind of used as pawns in the Destroyer and his Attendant's Game.
Yet, at the same time she was grateful that they did save her life. And by being teleported there, it brought her to Frieza. Which set this recent chain of events in place that led into a budding relationship.
"I am angry that you didn't just tell me this from the start. But I also understand why you didn't. And will be forever grateful that you saved my life." She paused and remembered something else.
"Were you also the reason why he lost all his powers when he arrived here?" She asked.
"No, I do have a theory on why that may have happened though. I think it has to possibly do with the fact that he's not supposed to exist here. And by entering this reality, it may have cancelled out his abilities. This including his speed and strength." He explained.
Upon hearing loss of powers, the two saiyans sat up straighter and eyed Whis.
"Wait, does this mean we lost our ki as well?" Goku asked.
He seemed quite anxious as he asked this question. Eve Vegeta bristled at the thought of being weak, powerless, and possibly helpless.
"Sadly, yes. Eve Lord Beerus and I can sense a huge difference in your power. If I had to guess, you're both on the same level as humans here." Whis replied.
"What!? If that is the case, then send us back now!" Vegeta demanded.
Lord Beerus shook his head.
"No, because even if you don't have your ki you may still prove to be useful. You two still have your martial art skills after all. And since you look human, you guys will blend in just fine while we're here to spring out Frieza." The Destroyer said.
"How can we help like this though? Plus, we don't even know where Frieza is." Goku said.
Whis stood up and tapped his staff on the floor. An image popped up a couple feet above the staff's orb. It showed Frieza and it looked like he was being held in some type of detainment area. He had thick metal cuffs on his wrists and his ankles. With the hand cuffs chained to a metal table he was sitting at. There were some humans in with him. A couple sat on the opposite side of the table and were talking with him. While four more stood by the exit with rifles in hand.
"Where he's being held doesn't seem to be far from here. Even though his power has significantly diminished his energy signature is still there. We can still detect it. It appears he's being held at some heavily armed military base not too far from this location." Whis announced.
Eve's eyes widened.
"U.S. Coast Guard Station Brant Point." She says, in realization.
"Then that is where you should go. All of you." Lord Beerus informed them.
"How? It's not like we can go knock on the front door and demand they let him go." Eve replied.
"Well then, guess you three will have to think of another way to get in. Don't worry, if you guys run into serious trouble, we will assist you." Whis assured them.
After a few moments, Goku stood up with a determined smirk on his face. Even though he didn't have his ki, his saiyan blood still couldn't deny a challenge.
"Great, let's get going then." He said, with confidence and determination.
Vegeta grunted and shook his head. While Eve still sat there thinking this was suicide. You're talking about breaking into a heavily guarded military base after all. It's not like anyone can do that. Right?
Until Next Time ;)
