The next chapter is up! Enjoy :)
Getting in wasn't really all that hard. The three of them all donned the uniforms they hijacked off of the three marines they knocked out. Then drove the Humvee back up to the front gate. Vegeta was at the wheel. One of the marines at the gate approached the vehicle. The saiyan prince hesitantly rolled down the tinted window. Luckily it was dark out and he had a hat on that partially shadowed half his face.
They asked him if they found anything and about the strange light. Vegeta told informed them it was nothing and they didn't find anything amiss. The one questioning him bought into it and allowed them entrance. Not even sparing a glance at the other two disguised marines in the vehicle.
The trio drove off and proceeded up on of the roads of the compound. There weren't all that many signs around the area at first. Not until the road started branching off into separate roads to different areas around the base. There were very few areas Eve was familiar with. Since there were not many sights that were opened to observe for civilians.
The only thing they had going for them was that the base was not that huge. And it shouldn't be all that hard figuring out which building Frieza is in. Since all they would have to do is ask around. Surely, there were a number of people there that knew. But then, Eve's not sure if the higher ups do inform the marines of everything that goes on there. After all, there are some highly restricted areas that you needed special clearance for. And that could mean only a select few have that kind of clearance to get in.
That means they would have to talk to the others there and inquire about superiors who may have access. Then once they find one or two of these superiors they were going to try and lift the access cards off of them. And sadly, Eve had a pretty good idea on how they were to accomplish this.
"Let's park it over there." Eve said to them.
She leaned over and planted her upper half between the two front seats and pointed to the left. The saiyans looked to where she was pointing and saw what looked to be a small vacant building. So, Vegeta headed for it. He circled around it and parked the Humvee behind it. All three of them shuffled out of the vehicle and started walking.
There were still some marines out and about walking the grounds. They've past plenty during their brief drive. Eve figures they could stop the next couple marines they see and inquire about Frieza and hopefully get an idea of where they were holding him. They walked around the building back to the road and started to walk north down the side of the dirt road.
Every now and then, Goku would stop briefly and adjust himself and walk a little funny.
"Kakarot, what are you doing? Stop dawdling and keep up." Vegeta barked impatiently.
"Sorry, I can't help it. This uniform is a bit tight in some areas. Should've let me have yours. The guy you took it off of was bigger than the guy's I grabbed." Goku whined.
Eve huffs, at least their uniforms somewhat fit better than hers. She took the uniform off of the smallest guy in the group. And even then, it clearly was big and rather baggy on her. Hopefully, it doesn't draw too much attention to her. She hopes because it's dark out that no one will notice up front. Though she knows it could cause a problem when they go inside the buildings where it is lighter.
"At least your clothes don't feel like they are falling off of you." She mutters, while tugging the sleeves back up for the umpteenth time.
Goku looked at her in amusement. He laughed when she came back out from behind the bushes by the vacant lot in that uniform. Why not? It was at least three sizes too big on her, making her look utterly ridiculous.
Who knows, they may just tell her to stay behind out here and wait while they go in and get Frieza. As much as Eve didn't want to be left out and wanted to help free him, she knew her appearance in what's clearly a men's uniform could compromise their mission. If only she knew where the women's barracks were here. Then, she could nab something that actually fits.
But there were two reasons why she can't ask any of the other marines they come across. One, they made find it suspicious that she doesn't know where it is. Two, it could be in the complete opposite direction of where they needed to go. So, neither of those options would work for her.
"Suck it up you two. I see what looks to be a group of four headed this way from up ahead on the opposite side of the road." Vegeta grunted.
Goku and Eve looked straight ahead and saw the same group of marines walking down the road towards them from the opposite direction. As both groups drew closer Eve and the others noticed they weren't really paying attention to them as they conversed with one another. And as Eve, Goku, and Vegeta got closer they can start to make out parts of the conversation.
"It sucks that we won't be able to keep the alien here for much longer. Figures, they want to send it to another more restricted base." One marine said.
"Yeah, and not only that but we won't even get a chance to see it. Marx who was a part of that unit said the specimen was quite odd in appearance but fascinating all the same. And get this, he said the creature spoke in perfect English." Another replied.
"Could've just mastered some form of speech mimicry." The third one implied.
"Think we will at least get a chance to see it when they bring it out for transportation?" The only woman of the group asked.
From what Eve, Goku, and Vegeta have gathered; these marines clearly were aware of Frieza's presence on base. But what really irked Eve was when the first guy mentioned the tyrant won't be around here for much longer. Meaning they were probably going to send him off to a base with much higher security and with more qualified scientists to look at him. If that's the case, then they need to move fast.
Which was easier said than done, because the most challenging part will be getting him out once they find him. They can't just stick him in a uniform and get him out that way. Frieza didn't blend in like the rest of them. Something tells Eve they will have to resort to plan B to get him out. As in they will have to call out to Whis and Lord Beerus to teleport themselves within the base where Frieza was and then teleport him back to their Universe. And not just him, but the rest of them as well.
It's just too bad that the Destroyer and his attendant couldn't just do that from the start. But The deities informed them that they wanted to be involved as least as possible. They didn't want to draw too much attention to themselves, and they don't know how many humans are currently with the tyrant. If they knew he was indeed by himself in a detainment cell than perhaps they could intervene and get in and out without being seen by other humans.
Alas Eve told them it may be inevitable and that they may just have to take the chance regardless. Still, Whis encouraged them to try their best to get in and try and get him out first. And reminded her that if things get risky and out of hand, they will come for them.
"Hey fellas! So, what's this about an alien on base?" Goku cheerily blurted out once they were close enough, before Eve or Vegeta could stop him.
"You mean you didn't hear? They detained an alien being yesterday. And from one of the last places you'd think they'd find one. It was called in from the precinct over in town." One of the marines said.
"Guess instead of informing everyone he comes in peace, he decided to turn himself in instead." The female marine joked.
"You don't say. Where's he at now? Maybe we can go and get his autograph." Goku joked back, while trying to gage the tyrant's whereabouts.
It's sad that the other drawback about this reality is not only do he and Vegeta don't have their ki or inhuman strength and speed. But they unfortunately can't sense others' energies here. Otherwise, it would be relatively easy finding Frieza. All they would've had to do was track down his energy to the location he was being kept.
"From what we heard through some of the superiors, he's being held in one of these base's most restricted areas. Though I heard, they were going to be taking him down to the labs soon. Apparently, some of our scientists want to poke, prod, and study him while they still have the opportunity before he's transported." The second marine of the group stated.
Eve cleared her throat.
"Forgive us, but we're quite new here. Where exactly are these labs located?" She asks.
She hopes she didn't overstep by asking such a personal question.
One of the marines pointed over his shoulder to one of the dirt roads on the right of them off of the road they were on.
"It's about eighty-two meters down that road to your left. Don't be surprised if they don't allow you access though. Only most of our superiors are allowed access down there." He said.
"That stinks. But thanks for letting us know." Goku said.
The female marine eyed Eve up and down. They were standing not far from an overhead streetlight. So, there was some lighting on them.
"Damn, you must really be a newbie here. Otherwise, you'd know that the woman's barracks are down that way. You can actually see the building from here. You may want to go there and get something that fits a little better." She told Eve.
Eve let's out an embarrassed laugh.
"Yeah, sorry. Told you we're new here. As you can see, we're still learning our way around the base." She says.
The female marine just shrugs.
"We get it. We're quite new here ourselves. Just fresh out of the academy." She added.
"Where did you three transfer from?" One of the male marines asked.
"That's none of your business. We're done here." Vegeta retorts rudely.
Then he starts heading down the road to the street they told him the labs were. Which coincidentally was the same stretch of road that the women's barracks were located. The group of marines just stared at the rude older marine as he abruptly left and started walking away. Eve couldn't believe he did that. Was the jerk trying to get them caught?! It didn't help when Goku soon joined him. She quickly turned her attention back to the group of marines.
"I apologize for him. He's not much of a people person. Where he's from he was also a higher rank and kind of looks down his nose at subordinates." Eve quickly lied.
They studied her before glancing at the retreating men.
"We kind of get that. It's not all that uncommon for someone from a higher rank to look down at us or other subordinate ranks. Though I also hear those higher ranks do get the job done and should be respected because of that." One replied.
Eve nods, "Yeah, sorry again. Anyways, I better go. Don't want those two to leave me behind. And then there's this situation with the mix up with my uniform. So, I'll head to the barracks to get it all situated. Thanks again for your help."
They said, no problem, and Eve turned and left. The group of marines watched them briefly before going about their own business.
About twenty-minutes earlier with Frieza...
He sighs in frustration as he plops back down on the metal chair by the table. It bothered him not knowing what was to happen next. The very few people that came through the door were quite vague with him when he would inquire as to what they planned on doing next with him.
Eve's cousin left some time ago. He told Frieza that he couldn't stay very long because he had other duties to attend to. Sadly, the tyrant also feels that Devin won't be much help either. But then, he kind of knew the young marine's hands were tied. It's not like he can risk everything by aiding him in some way. Which was understandable, since Frieza knew any aide that was offered to him could mean danger for the young man and his family.
'I really am starting to believe Eve was right all along. That Lord Beerus and Whis may be didn't have anything to do with me being here or of her mysterious teleportation to my Universe than back to hers. And it still leaves to so many open questions just to who exactly was involved then. It had to be one of the divine. Because only a divine had the power to pull this off. Dammit! Who was it!?' Frieza thought.
All he can think of at the moment on how he would love to get his hands on the ones responsible, divine or not, it didn't matter to him at the moment. Frieza also refused to believe that this was to be his life now. Not only that but he was also unsure how much longer he would be kept alive. God knows what these people will do to him when he no longer proves useful to them.
His train of thought was broken yet again by the loud metallic squeal of the thick metal door to the room opening. Frieza's blood red orbs were now focused on who was coming in. It was another soldier with a rifle in hand. Then a couple people in what appeared to be lab coats entered the room behind the soldier. One was a somewhat hefty middle-aged man with round glasses on his pudgy face.
He gave Frieza a faux smile.
"Hello, Frieza. If you please, we are here to escort you." He says, cordially.
The tyrant arches an eye ridge and gives the man, and his colleague scrutinizing looks.
"Where exactly would that be?" He asks, while never taking his eyes off of them.
"Just down to the lab. Don't worry, we are just going to run a few simple tests. Nothing too invasive." He says.
Frieza narrows his gaze at the rodent looking man, not trusting a word he says. The tyrant could tell this man wasn't being completely honest with him. But what other choice did he have? Something tells him if he didn't comply and follow the man and his colleague out, then the soldiers would most likely take him by force. And as skilled of a fighter he was, Frieza knew he still most likely won't be able to fight them all off. There had to be a good few hundred armed soldiers on this base.
"Fine." Frieza quipped.
The scientist smiled, "Excellent. We're not going far. It's just one floor below this one."
The soldier stood at the ready by the door as Frieza approached. The bigger man watched his every move. And when Frieza drew closer to the pair of scientists, he noticed there were more soldiers waiting out in the hall. None of them were taking any chances when it came to him. He was an alien being after all. As he exited the room behind the scientists and headed down the hall, the tyrant instantly recognized Devin again as part of the armed escort.
He briefly eyed Frieza as he passed by. And then like the rest of the soldiers, fell in behind the tyrant and trailed him. They all marched down the lengthy hall bypassing several rooms on either side. Before they came to a stop at an elevator door at the end of the hall.
One of the scientists swiped his card over a pin pad by the doors. A small light blinked green and the large thick metal doors slid open to allow them access. As big as the spacious elevator was though, not all of the soldiers could squeeze in. Only six of the ten soldiers entered the elevator with Frieza and the scientists. Unfortunately, Devin wasn't one of those six, but one of the four left behind.
The elevator only went down one floor before it stopped. Then the thick doors lazily slid open revealing a fairly large lab. There appeared to be quite a few scientists in there. Each one doing their own separate tasks. The group of nine exited the elevator and entered the area. The six soldiers stayed near the back of the lab by the elevator.
While the pair of scientists gestured for him to follow. Many of the scientists down there stopped what they were doing and gawked at the Galactic Emperor. You'd think they found sunken treasure upon eyeing him. And they may as well have. For hardly anyone has ever had this close of an encounter with a live alien being.
"Ericson, go grab me a syringe and a few vials out of the back cabinet, and bring them over to one of the tables. Bring one of the carts over as well." The scientist that brought him down ordered to another scientist.
"Of course, Dr. Heirtz, right away sir!" The other scientist said.
He along with the others clearly seemed excited to be studying Frieza. The tyrant rolled his eyes at their outward exuberance.
"Right this way, Frieza." The one known as Dr. Heirtz told him.
He led Frieza over to one of the metal tables off to the right near the back of the lab and instructed him to sit. The tyrant hopped up and sat on the table. It didn't quite sit well with him that the tables had straps attached to them. Nor did he like some of the instruments he saw on the cart one of the other scientists were bringing over.
All these beakers filled with unknown chemicals Large human size tubes filled with liquid in another area of the room. Various sharp instruments and high-powered tools. Carts filled with a variety of sharp instruments. This place was truly turning out to be a room filled with horrors.
Can only imagine what these scientists have in store for Frieza. Let's hope that Eve, Goku, and Vegeta can get to him in time. Until Next Time ;)
