The next chapter is up! Enjoy :)
Getting into the women's barracks was rather simple. Eve just went through the front door. There currently wasn't anyone around as she trekked down the hall. Goku and Vegeta came in after her and trailed her. Both on guard and looking around.
She saw a sign on the wall with names and arrows pointing down different hallways. Eve slowly dragged her eyes down the sign until she came to locker rooms. According to the sign it was further down the hall and the second hall that branches off to the left. She looked over her shoulder and gestured forward with a nod of her head.
"Ok, the locker rooms are down this way. So, let's go." She said.
"Why are we going to the locker rooms? Don't you need to go to a front desk or something and ask for a uniform?" Goku asked.
"Because I'm worried it could draw unwanted attention and get them suspicious. When that happens, they will start asking questions. We were lucky so far that those newbies out there didn't question further on why I was in a men's uniform. But we shouldn't take any more chances. It's better if I go through a locker for some extra clothes." Eve explained as they headed down that way.
The locker room area right there on the left. The hall actually leading right into the spacious area. So far, it was vacant in there. Must've been a dead shift tonight. Still, Eve quickly went through the first row of lockers. She didn't have any luck until she hit what must've been the eighth locker on the right. She pulled out a standard t-shirt with the Coast Guard Logo on it and a pair of sweats.
Unfortunately, there weren't any boots in the locker. Not wanting to waste any more time going through the rest for a pair of boots, she decided to just stick with the one's she was wearing. It may feel awkward, but she was anxious to get to Frieza. Who knows how much more time he had left before they transfer him. Eve then told both the saiyans to turn around while she changed.
In her haste trying to pull the long slacks off she fell over. And Eve could've sworn she heard at least one of them muffle a small snicker. She finally got them off after untying all the laces of the boots and kicking those off. She contemplated throwing one at the back of Goku's head for laughing at her clumsiness. But reminded herself she was in a hurry here.
Eve donned the t-shirt and sweats and tied up the boots as tight and quickly as possible. Then told the two saiyans she was ready. The three of them sped walked out of there and down the hall. They were all making good progress and were just about at the door before a female marine turned out of the various halls that branched off the main hallway and was headed down their direction.
As the young marine drew closer, she did a double take when she saw Goku and Vegeta.
"Hey! What are you doing here? There are no men allowed in these barracks." She said in an authoritative voice.
'Shit!' They all thought.
"I'm sorry, we're new here and kind of got turned around." Eve said, trying to sound as convincing as possible.
Though she doesn't believe it worked because the female marine arched a brow and gave her a scrutinizing look.
"That still doesn't explain why they are here. Since it's awfully hard to miss the sign outside that states this is the women's barracks. What's your name Ma'am?" She demanded.
Eve opened and closed her mouth and started getting nervous on what to say.
"Uhh..." She drawn out, as if unsure of what to say.
"Enough of this." Vegeta said, impatiently.
Quicker than the burly female marine could question them further, Vegeta quickly moved around her, and gave her a moderate whack to the back of the head. The bigger woman was out before she hit the floor. Or would've hit it had Goku not lunged forward and caught her. He looked up at Vegeta with a displeasing look.
"Really Vegeta, was that necessary? We could've come up with something better to say." Goku said, clearly annoyed.
Vegeta grunted, "She was in the way and wasting our time. Besides I doubt she'd believe a word any of us had to say."
Eve hated to admit it, but he was right, and agreed that this may have been the only way. Goku picked up the unconscious woman and jogged back to the locker room to set her down and out of sight. Funny, how he and Vegeta lost their ki and inhuman strength. Yet, they were still quite strong. Otherwise, he doubts he would've been able to jog or run with the woman in his arms who really wasn't all that tiny. But he managed to do so and was quickly back at Eve's and Vegeta's side.
They both jogged the rest of the way down and out of the hall and the building, making sure to be quick, and no one else catches them. Once they made it back out and far enough away, Eve let out a sigh of relief.
"Now that that's finished, we need to get to that building where the lab is those other soldiers were telling us about before. Hopefully, we run into someone that is outside patrolling the place. We will most likely need one of their clearance cards to get in." Eve stated.
"Can't we just kick the door in? Why would we need a card?" Goku asked.
"Because we are trying to draw as little of attention to ourselves as possible, you idiot. If we go in there halfcocked then we will be caught and just as stuck as that slimy little bastard is." Vegeta growled, annoyed by the stupidity of his question.
"Ok, ok, I see your point. Let's just hurry this up. We're running out of time. And I'm starting to get hungry." Goku slightly whined.
Eve and Vegeta just stared at him with withering looks on their faces. How could the cheery saiyan think of food at a time like this!? They were sneaking about a base for Christ's sake!
"Just shut up and let's go." Vegeta snapped.
The three of them quietly made their way up the dirt road towards the building they were going to building they needed to go to. It only took them another four minutes to get there. Unfortunately, it looked like no one was around outside guarding or patrolling the area. Eve started to panic a little because what can they do now? All they can think to do is wait for someone to come out.
Something that was further confirmed by Vegeta. He instructed they try waiting first for someone to exit the building. Hopefully, it wouldn't take long for that. There were clearly still people working about in there, seeing as there were lights still on and they can see people through the windows walking about. The three waited off to the side out of sight of anyone who may walk by outside.
To their luck, they didn't have to wait long. About seven minutes later, a couple people came out the front door. They were both wearing long white lab coats and were conversing with one another. The scientists were completely oblivious to the small group waiting in the shadows. Once they were close enough, Goku and Vegeta quickly snatched them and pulled them back into the darkened area with very little light.
Both fighters knocked them out quickly and effectively before either of them could scream out. Eve saw the clearance cards hanging from a lanyard around their necks. She carefully pulled them off their unconscious forms. She also pulled a coat off of one of them. Then the saiyans dragged the two scientists behind some bushes and left them there.
Eve gave one clearance card to Vegeta but held on to the other. Then the three of them came around the side of the building and headed for the steps to the front door. And as soon as Eve started up the stairs an arm shot out in her path, halting her in her tracks.
"Just what in the hell are you doing? Your supposed to wait out here for us." Vegeta said, staring down at her.
The young woman just shook her.
"No, I can't. I know that part of the plan was for me to wait. But I simply can't do that. I'm here to help every step of the way and that is exactly what I'm going to do." Eve replied, firmly.
"Eve, we know you mean well. But this is serious. There could be people with guns in there and you could end up getting hurt or possibly even killed." Goku added, concern laced in his voice.
But the petite woman wouldn't budge.
"We all run that risk regardless just by being here. You both know this." She bit back.
Before she could say anymore, Vegeta cut her off.
"Fine, just stay out of the way. Especially, if a fight ensues. Now put that damn lab coat on and let's go. At least you will look less suspicious with that on." He snapped impatiently and trudged up the rest of the way to the door.
Goku and Eve followed and when they were ready, Vegeta held up the clearance card to scanner next to the entrance. The light on it beeped green and they heard the click of the lock disengaging. He pushed open the thick door and walked in. The other two followed. Goku placed a hand on Eve's shoulder and quietly told her to try and stay behind them as they went in.
Unlike the last building they were in, this one certainly had more people walking about. Both soldiers and scientists occupied the halls as they went from one location to another. As the three of them proceeded down the halls no one really gave them second glances. Probably, because the uniforms Goku and Vegeta were wearing were very similar to the other marines in there. And No one looked Eve's way twice while she had the lab coat on.
As they turned down another hallway, they found there was less people here. Vegeta became frustrated because they forgot to ask one of the other people in the area where the lab was. And unfortunately, they didn't see too many signs on the walls in there telling them where everything was.
Eve went slightly ahead of them and looked to see if they could spot anything or anyone who could help. But she saw they were coming up short. She turned to them as they continued walking and spoke.
"Don't worry, we will just ask the next person we..."
She was cut off as she turned the corner and right into someone. They put their hands on her arms to steady her. Eve looked up to apologize only to stop short and stare wide eyed at who she just bumped into.
"Eve!? What in the hell are you doing here!? Are you crazy!?" Said none other than her cousin, Devin.
"Devin, I'm sorry. But this is an emergency. We need to know where the lab is. The one where they are keeping Fri..I mean the alien man." She said, but slipped a little.
He furrowed his dark brows.
"You mean Frieza don't you? What the hell, Eve?! How could you have someone that dangerous living under your roof!?" Devin asked, incredulously.
"Dammit we don't have time for this. Just tell us where he is, and we'll be on our way." Vegeta snapped.
Devin turned his attention to the two large men with his cousin and eyed them. He narrowed his gaze and his hand slowly crept up to his gun.
"Who the fuck are you two? And what have you down with my comrades?" He spat, knowing that these two were not fellow marines.
He knew the marines that wore these uniforms by spotting their name tags, and these two were obviously not them. Eve started to panic again and waved her hands frantically.
"No, Devin don't! They are with me, and they are not bad!" She blurted out.
Devin was about to say something else when they heard voices coming down the hall towards them. He quickly looked back to Eve and the saiyans and gestured for them to follow him.
"C'mon, let's take this somewhere more private. And from there, I want answers." He demanded.
Eve sighs and begins to follow him. She stops when she realizes she doesn't hear telltale footfalls behind her. She turns to see Goku and Vegeta haven't budged. Both appeared guarded and apparently didn't trust this guy not to rat them out or lead them astray. While she understood their reluctance, Eve knew Devin may be their only shot at finding where they are keeping Frieza and he also may prove helpful in helping them all escape.
"Guys please, I know him. This is my cousin, Devin. And right now, he may be our only shot at being able to pull this off unnoticed. So please, let's go." Eve said.
Goku gave her a brief smile, while Vegeta's scowl deepened.
"Fine, but if I find out this is all a ruse, I will not only knock his ass out. I will pulverize him. Got it?" The saiyan prince snapped.
"Ok, you made your point. Now, let's get moving. This hall is starting to get a little more crowded and I rather us not draw any attention to ourselves." Eve snapped back impatiently.
Vegeta snorted and reluctantly began to follow her and Goku. Devin patiently waited several feet ahead of them until they were closer to him again. Then he turned around and he led them a little further down the hall. They only walked for a couple more minutes before he stopped at a door around the corner and opened it.
Devin stepped through the door and waved them in. The three remaining people entered the area before he quietly closed the door behind them. They looked around curiously for a few moments. They all appeared to be in some type of storage room. At least Eve could relax in knowing her cousin didn't betray them by leading them right into a room filled with armed soldiers.
"Ok, Eve. Talk. What the fucks going on? And who the hell are they?" Devin asked.
She wrung her hands nervously. Eve opened her mouth to tell him. But one of the others beat her to it.
"I'm Goku and this right here is Vegeta." Goku said to the young marine.
Devin's eyes slowly widened as he looked them up and down.
"No fucking way." He muttered.
Goku gave him a funny look at his odd response while Vegeta just crossed his arms and deepening the scowl on his face.
"It's true Devin, they are who they say they are. And...they are here to bring Frieza back with them to their reality." Eve informed him.
Devin was silent for a moment, before he finally spoke.
"So, what Frieza told me earlier was true. That he's from a separate reality parallel to this one. Still, this is all nuts. Why would he be here then. Hell, why would you two be here?" He asked the two saiyans.
"Well, it's kind of a long story. All that you need to know is that we need him back. And then we can go home. So could you please do us a huge favor and just tell us which room he's in?" Goku asks.
Devin sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose.
"He's in the lab, one floor below. It's a high clearance area though. Very few superiors are allowed down there. Still, you guys are extremely powerful. I'm surprised you two didn't just drop in and casually get the guy and leave. Since it's obvious no one here has a chance of stopping you even if they want to." He inquired.
The truth is though, Goku and Vegeta both knew they couldn't tell him it's because they don't have any power in this reality. That they are no better or stronger than the average man. And that it was just their skills alone that got them this far. Again, before anyone else could speak, Vegeta abruptly cuts in.
"Because all your tiny brains wouldn't be able to deal with such a move. We also wish to remain discreet and not let anyone know of who we really are or where we came from. It will only complicate things and cause more problems. It's better we do it this way. Under the radar and out of sight. The last thing we need is to draw attention to ourselves by blowing this shithole halfway into space." Vegeta stated.
Eve gave him a dirty look on that last remark. While Devin trying to stay composed, was trying not to shit a brick at the thought.
"Alright, I can understand why it could be a very bad and dangerous idea. But why would you two even bother coming here for Frieza? Thought you guys hated his guts. I mean, he is a monster after all." Devin said.
Eve felt a pang when they referred to Frieza as monster. Mainly because she felt he wasn't one anymore. If these last several months proved one thing, it's that he was capable of change. Something he has showed to her many of times during his stay with her. And then him turning himself in as an effort to save and spare her further correlated that notion.
"What are you stupid? We can't leave him here. Who the hell knows what he's telling you bastards about us. About our reality. We can't have any of you sticking your nose where it doesn't belong. As I stated earlier it could prove to be a problem for us. And this is why; You. Will. Not. Say. A. Word. Of. This To. Anyone." Vegeta grounded out that last remark as a threat.
Devin growing up on the show knew it would be stupid to cross the likes of Vegeta. And because of this, he may as well provide him with the info he needs. Less the saiyan prince rips him limb from limb with his bare hands.
"Ok, ok you made your point. I won't say anything. I prefer to stay in one piece you know." The anxious marine blurted.
Goku gave him a megawatt grin.
"Great! Thanks a lot man!" He said.
"Sure, no problem. But still, no matter how you chose to execute this plan; escaping here will not go smoothly. You will be lucky to find a convincing way to get him out of that lab alone. Not to mention it will be even more difficult if you can't do it before they transfer him to another more restricted base." Devin warned them.
The smile never leaves Goku's face.
"No worries, we'll get him out." The cheery saiyan said in confidence.
But the rest of them still knew this will not be easy. Devin was right. In places such as this, escaping never goes smoothly. But then that's what Plan B is for. Only drawback is, they wouldn't leave here without making themselves known to everyone.
Sorry for the delay everyone. Got caught up in numerous things this past week. But I will definitely try to pump out more chapters for the rest of this week. And I promise I will finish the story. In truth, there is probably about a handful of chapters left to this adventure before it comes to a close. Until Next Time ;)
