With hours to waste I wondered around when I found a large brown dog locked in a tiny fenced area. "Hey puppy." I said making it get up and jump on the fence his tail moving at massive speed as I moved to pet it and it curled into my hands. I watched a very buff man my age walk over with a gridball in his hand.
"His name is dusty." He smiled at me, making me smile at him as I rubbed his ear. "So hey, you're the new girl CC, huh? I think we're going to get along great. I'm Alex." He spoke checking me out, I gave him a nod with a small smile but also my eye twitched at CC.
I probably looked psychotic.
"Call me Cy." He just nodded, this guy was very clean and his hair was perfect, the thin jacket on his buff arms looked real nice. He is damn fine.
"You..." He started to say before I followed his eye's as some very pretty blonde headed our way, she did not look at me as she stared at him pulling him into her orbit as she walked up completely blocking me from his view. I held back a sigh at the obvious way she tried to say 'ignore her look at me'.
"Oh... " She spoke rudely to me as Alex smiled at her. "You're that new farmer girl aren't you?" I nodded. "Huh? Oh... I'm Haley." She looked at him with a flirty smile.
"Cy." I said blankly.
"Hmm... " She looked back at me as she did not hear me. "If it weren't for those horrendous clothes you might actually be pretty." She spoke as she looked me over. "Actually, neverminded." she spoke with attitude.
I tried not to take to much to heart as I gave her a kind smile that confused her before I just walked away. "Nice to meet you Alex, Haley." I nodded and walked off.
"Ya, bye Cy." He spoke but she was pulling his attention again.
Passing the general store I walked up a very steep stone staircase and found a large open field with a broken down building and a beautiful water fountain. There was many coins inside making me smile before I checked out the old building. This must be the community center Lewis talked about.
It was pretty large and I was to lazy to find a way inside as I strolled to the small park not far off and sat on a swing slightly moving watching the clouds. A kid came running passed, the one with pink hair as I looked at the direction he came from as he took the swing next to me.
"Sam." I smiled and his grew.
"You seem to be everywhere today." He then leaned on the pole holding the swings up. "This is my brother Vincent." I smiled at the kid as he started to swing. "Did you watch the game last night?" He asked but I looked so lost. "Or wait, do you even have a TV set...?"
I laughed. "I don't think I get that channel."
"It was great." he said proudly.
"Push me." His little brother yelled as he walked behind him and I just sat there as he started to push him high. We hung around for a while and just talked, he was very easy going and I liked that before I got up to check on my truck. Passing the now open bar I pulled out what cash was left and wondered in, the blue haired girl was the only one here. "Emily right?" I asked and she nodded as she was leaning on the bar from inside looking at some paper.
The girl Clint likes.
I gave her an order and she called to Gus in the back before she got back at what she was doing, it was early and seemed to just open.
We started to chat, I guess she works here for some cash but really wants to design and make clothes, she spun around showing me the dress she made and man she did a good job. She is taking classes at a school in a neighboring town but to take a sewing class she also needed to take others and was stuck in a creative writing class she just hated.
I tried to help her with the assignment but I was no better as I ate.
I looked at all the cash I had made, sad so much is now missing as I stuffed what was left into a small jar in the pantry. The nearest bank was a distance and I like having cash around. With nothing to do I decided to get clean wishing for hot water. Then I just air dried as I walked around naked.
I need to get Robin out here for the stairs and the water heater but who knows what that will cost.
I walked to my door and slowly opened it as I peeked out.
I am alone.
I walked out naked tossing the towel from my hair on the floor and walked down to the dirt below as I let my clean naked feet dig in the dirt as I stood there feeling so free. This was something I could never do at home as I spun around letting the sun cover every part of me.
The cat was moving around my feet and it was so nice.
Hmm next on the list, go skinny dipping at the beach in the middle of the night, something else I have never done but always wanted to, I should make like a fuck it list, a list of shit I can only do out here before I leave.
I was stuffing garbage and beer cans into a bag as I started on the area not covered in the forest, there was sticks and many rocks I tossed into a wheelbarrow. I am sure I can use the wood. Using a stick I was pulling out the garbage from the pond when I heard a familiar truck making me stand up and head towards Lewis. He got out with a large box. "Oh you are here."
"Yes that happens." I smiled.
"I wanted you to try these out." He looked around. "Now I know you are not a farmer but I wanted you to try." Holding back a sigh I watched as he pulled out a set of twelve small plants. "These only take a week to grow fully." He looked around. "When you find space." He smiled. "Don't wait to long to get them in the ground." He placed them carefully on my porch.
Feeling to lazy to argue I just said thanks and he took that as 'yay lewis I cant wait' and got so excited as he told me Pierre would take them when grown, there used to be a section for my Grandpa in that store before he could not keep up and would buy them from me.
He peeked inside the cabin. "Wow CC, this looks amazing!" I rubbed my hair, okay now he is just being a dick with that name but I smiled feeling flattered as he looked around. "It is so different in here."
It was not long until he left and I looked at the plants.
"A week huh?" I don't even know what they are, he forced me I just could not let these fuckers die on purpose, failing is another story. There is a spot next to the pond that when cleaned up and the grass cut down would be perfect but I need to clean first.
So I spent the day cleaning and mowing, the smell of cut grass was so nice and around the time I head to the bar I lied on my bed, my body so sore and I just fell sleep.
I spent the morning hoeing the ground, for some reason I knew exactly what to do to plant these, the fact before you need to soak them in water before placing them in the dirt and more. Standing there using a stupid and small watering can wishing for a hose I kind of liked this.
I was feeling like a farmer and it was very... zen.
Wont tell anyone I liked that.
I was taking a stroll along the river when I found some girl that may be younger then me filling up vials of water, she looked up at me and her dark skin was just beautiful.
"Oh." She stood up as she stuck a cork in one. "You are the new girl?" She was friendly as I watched her confused at what she was doing. "I'm Maru. I've been looking forward to meeting you! You know, with a small town like this, a new face can really alter the community dynamic. It's exciting!"
I smiled. "Well I doubt I will change the dynamic." I joked. "What are you doing?"
"I am testing the water." I nodded as she stuck the vile in a basket with more. "I love to do science and I wondered about what it was like in different area's of the town."
I was impressed.
"Sadly I only have so long today as I need to go to work in the clinic but it is a start."
Is she not just the most interesting?
"Anyway I should head home while I can, nice to meet you." She spoke turning away. "I live up in the mountains."
"Near Robins?"
She smiled at me. "That is my mother." She laughed.
"Oh your related to the black haired guy?"
"My brother, however we don't get along well." She spoke sadly before she walked off and I turned around to follow the river back to the main town.
After a while I walked to my truck and pulled out my key's, moving to unlock the door there was a pretty girl with light red hair trying to lift a large box into the back of her car but it looked to heavy for her so I stepped over and moved to give her a hand.
We lifted it in, with a breath out in happiness she looked at me. "Thanks, that is heavy, I wont get that much clay in one box again." She smiled. "You are the new girl?"
Man everyone knows me.
"It's nice to meet you. You picked a good time to move here... The spring is lovely, oh and I am Leah."
"So you do stuff with clay?" I asked.
"Ya, I love art, I live down by the lake near marine's, it is an amazing place to make art, I do more then clay but I am so into it right now." She headed to to the drivers seat of her car. "Well see you later, thank's." She spoke as she got in.
Everyone here is so friendly.
