The morning air pressed to my skin as I drank some coffee on my porch. It was one of those mornings that it made me feel great and the word vibrating came to mind. This place was peaceful and Zen, Farming was nice and I loved the way I am fixing the inside.
I kind of don't want to leave. But I am here until those plants are done so I have some time.
I heard my phone ring making me stand up and walk into the cabin "Hello." I said to my mother.
"So, are you coming home soon?"
I looked outside and leaned on the door frame. "I can't yet, got things to do." with a small calm smile.
"You know you can find a buyer from home, you don't need to stay there while you find one."
"I know, it is just there is so much work to do to get it to look worth the money."
"So are you there for what like one more week?" She asked but I paused.
"Or two." Slipped out unsure why.
She was quiet. "Alright." I flopped on my couch and she just talked my ear off. It was nice to hear what was going on back home.
Driving up the mountainside music blaring eating a cinnamon bun when I almost hit some old dirty man, slamming on my brakes he stared at me scared making me drop my bun.
Peering out my window. "Dude!" I yelled at him.
"Sorry I did not see you." He spoke as he closed in emotionally, filled with sadness. Looking around a little down a path I saw a small tent and a fire pit. He just turned. "Don't mind me. I just live out here, alone." He lives there?
I watched him walk away. "Do you want a cinnamon bun?" I spoke before I thought.
He came closer as I dug in the small box that held six but now three and gave him one.
"This is wonderful! You've really made my day special." He spoke as I handed it to him.
"Do you know Robin?" He nodded as he took a bite. "Where is Robins home?"
He pointed in front of me. "Just go down the steep hill and her house is right there."
I smiled. "Thanks." And I drove off.
Pulling up Sabastian was in the open garage fixing a motorcycle.
Huh?
He looked up as I stepped out of my truck. "Hey, is your mom home?"
He shook his head looking back at his bike. "But she will be here in a half an hour." I watched him tinker.
Knowing driving any where now would take just as long. "Mind if I hang while I wait?" He shook his head making me smile and lean on the wall. "So you can fix these things?"
"Yes."
"Do you ride?"
"Yes."
"So I actually have one on my farm that I don't know how to fix and maybe..."
He looked at me again. "I would love to see it." I just smiled. "Maybe we can ride together."
"That would be nice but I have never driven one." His normal monotone voice was gone as he actually seemed interested.
"Well bring it up here." His phone went off and he pulled it of his pants. I had an urge to ask for his number but I feel like I don't know him enough. He placed it next to him, glancing at me. "Sam." He sighed. "I don't want to go out."
"Why not?"
He was quiet. "I like friends but I need time after seeing one. Unlike Sam who needs to be near people."
"I get that, need time to recharge." I said softly.
"That is a good word for it. Maybe why I love computers, they are straightforward and unselfish. Quite the opposite of a lot of people I know."
"You have a computer? I miss mine."
"Yes and I program code for a job on the side." I looked down at him. "I want to make money and get out of here, live in the city."
"Play any games on it?"
"Mostly just my Nintendo." Man he is chatty right now.
"I only play a handful of console games but I played many online pc games." I said back.
"A pc person." He spoke with a tone making me smile, ah the war between pc and console even exists out here.
I just looked around at the surrounded area, the very large home was nestled in a perfect place. "Does your tattoo mean anything?"
I looked down at him. "What one?"
"You have more then one?" He looked at me calmly. "The feather along your neckbone." He looked back at the bike.
"No, it was just cute, I do have small paws behind my ear for a passed pet." He stayed quiet. "What other hobbies do you have?" This guy is blowing my mind right now, he was smart, he fixes and rides bikes.
He did not speak, as what he said earlier maybe I am being to social so I slid down the wall and just stayed quiet until he wanted to talk as I watched the sky, looking like It may rain.
"I play the keyboard in a band with Sam and love comic books." He finally spoke making me smile, this guy has many skills huh?
He is so interesting.
Maybe if he ever moves to the city we could be good friends.
I just enjoyed the peace when he stood up. "I think." He spoke as he turned it on, it roared up so loudly before he turned it off. "That is good." He passed by me to the door and waved me to follow. "Come in, I need to work."
Following him in we walked down some stairs to a basement, I did not see anyone and I got nervous being alone with him, I almost wanted to leave but I breathed removing my fear and followed.
I know how to fight.
It was a nice room, very big but I could tell he lived here his whole life, it was a teenage boy room for a twenty five? Year old. Comic books, poster's of games, two computer's, one older and one was a very nice set up. There was this large table with a small game box on it and he had a queen bed along the far wall in the corner.
He moved to his computer and I sat on the couch feeling better he did not sit beside me.
I leaned into the old and warn down but comfortable couch, I don't put myself in strange men's rooms alone very often but he showed no interest in me and it was calming. We did not speak as I yawned when I heard steps from above.
It was not long until Robin came into the room.
"Abigail was looking for you." She spoke. "Oh Cy hello." I gave a small wave.
"Did you tell her I was working?" He spoke back to his monotone voice.
"Yes but she said she will stop by anyway."
I stood up as Sabastian made a small noise. "I actually came for you." I spoke.
"Really?" She looked at her son before leaving waving a finger at me to follow, I gave him a small goodbye and we moved up stairs. I told her I needed her to look at the cabin stairs and the barn door. She will come and look at it on another day.
Before I left she started talking and handed me a small magazine, I opened it. "I can make anything you want out of wood, new bed, dresser, what ever you need." I nodded looking at her work, it was nice. "Also if you have your own wood it is cheaper."
I smiled, rolled up the magazine and left.
I was the only one in the store, just looking when Pierre came up to me awkwardly. "I knew your mother." He said making me look at him and he almost seemed sad at that. "Anyway my wife and daughter are not here and I have not run across anyone, so can I ask?" He sighed. "I was wondering if you could take this stuff to Marnie's as she is busy and cannot come. I guess she needs it right away."
It was a strange question but I nodded awkwardly making him smile and walk off as he chatted to me and I followed. "Anything people order online comes here as this place is so out of the way and we tend to deliver when someone is to busy to come."
He handed me a heavy box. "Thank you."
I just left still feeling confused as I strolled to my truck, I left my whole basket on the floor.
I made my way over, knocking on the door. "It is a store, you walk in." I heard as I tried to open it with this heavy box but after a moment of struggling she opened it and looked at me confused.
"Hey." I spoke with an amused smile. "Pierre told me to bring this for you."
"Oh, good." She tried to take it from me. "I can not leave right now but thank you for going out of your way." When it was to heavy for her I helped bring it into a room to the left that was filled with just stuff.
"It's no problem." I rubbed my head before I turned to leave.
"Wait." She spoke making me look back and she held out a ten. "Here for your help." I paused for a second before I took it and said thanks, it was not much but I could use it.
Maybe I could be the normal delivery girl if there is some money in it, as I started to ponder what I could do for some cash around here.
I looked at the forest as I walked towards it, where is the path to my farm?
I just moved when I found an open area in the fence, looking back it was not to far from her place, I walked towards it where high grass and a forest filled the area.
That old map I have of the farm says there is a road here but with the tree's I don't think it has been used in years, at least the tree's were small but still in the way. I want to open the road.
Getting to this side of town without going all the way into town would be wonderful. I would walk farther but I am still nervous at getting lost in a forest, if I had a friend to get lost with it may not be so bad.
Leah's small cabin was the cutest thing as I stood next to it admiring the river. I saw a fish swim by making me smile. This is just the most wonderful area.
I walked up to a small tree with my ax hanging in my hand, knowing where the path will be. I could use the wood for the fireplace and I wanted to see if I can do this.
I spun it in my hand, grabbed it with both hands and swung it into the tree. With a smile I liked that as I tried to dislodge it again and smashed into it again. After a bit of a workout I jumped backwards as it fell to the ground.
I then spent time hacking up the stump and rest of the tree, wanting to do another.
There was something about cutting down a tree, I walked over to a second with a smile I slammed the ax in its side.
