The sun was hot as it bore down making me sweat. I watched as a tree fell over, my body glad to have a break as cutting them down was quite a workout. I grabbed some thick branches and pulled it towards my cabin to finish cutting up.

I just felt like staying home tonight, I had grabbed stuff to make a real meal with steak. Just waiting for the time to start cooking. Also Robin was coming by at some point.

I fell backwards over a rock. "Fuck!" I yelled as the tree landed on my ankle, the pain ran through me as I sucked in air waiting for it to pass. It still hurt as I stood up and hobbled inside giving it some time to feel better and flopped on my couch.

After the show ended I was still in pain so I should go to the clinic just to be safe so I slowly walked to my truck.

Making my way limping into the clinic. I sat there waiting as Harvey came out from the back with a clipboard. "Oh, Cy?" He looked at me worried.

"I just hurt my ankle, I think."

He looked at me serious. "Give me a moment, I will be right with you." I just leaned back on the uncomfortable chairs and waited, a short time after Abigail came out of the back and looked at me awkwardly and caught.

"Oh." She looked around with worry. "I just needed to make sure I was not ...sick." She looked at me before quickly leaving. "I am not, it is okay." I just stared confused at the door when Harvey came back in and squatted in front of me and checked out my foot.

I guess I only was only a light sprain, he kindly wrapped it up, to bad me and him don't connect to well as friends, he is so kind and had a light touch. I passed Maru on the way out with a shared smile.

It is kind of nice I know like half the town now.

She was already there when I pulled up, I slowly limped over to her as she was jumping on my porch. "Hi?" I asked confused.

"Sadly these stairs need to be completely replaced." She jumped off. "The rest is fine but I did see wood over there and I can use that If you willing to part with it."

"Ya? That would be great."

"It will be around two hundred for the work." I nodded a crap feeling crossed me, so much money for my cheep ass. "The barn another two hundred, because I wont need wood but there is a wire issue I can fix along with the door." She walked to me. "Your chopping down tree's?" I looked at them lying on the ground. "Well any extra wood you get I will buy off you." Hmm that is cool.

"Do you know a plumber around here?"

"That would also be me." I looked at her startled.

"Wow your just everything."

"Damn right, why I can price so high." She joked but totally serious. "What do you need?"

"The shower is never hot." She made me take me to her to the bathroom where a small door opened to a tiny area where it sat. The room was not to big so I gave her space and just sat on my couch. "I won't be able to do all of that right now." I said as I don't have that much money without bugging my mother.

"No problem just giving you the estimate."

I heard her turn on the water and let it run for a little bit before turning it off. "Well I can fix that too, add a fifty for the part that will need to be shipped by mail and another fifty for my time." She was wiping her hands as she left the bathroom.

"Okay, the stairs and the water heater please is what I can do right now." They needed to be fixed and man I want some hot water.

"I will come tomorrow to deal with the steps, can I have free range on your wood?"

"Sure." I said as I followed.

"I will order the part for the water but don't worry my supplier ships fast, it should not be more then a couple day's, Do I have permission to come when it does?"

"Yes."

She headed back in her truck. "Have a good day Cy."

"You too."

I was starting to pull things out for my supper but the amount of standing was getting to me, with a sigh I put them back in the fridge for a later date and headed to the bar where I can eat without moving much.

I was early for the night and all there was was Emily, she looked at me like I just made her day, taking the nearest seat she placed the large book of drinks in front of me.

"Can I try making cocktails on you?" I nodded. "I want to try. What is you favorites, see if I can make them right." I said my top three. After I asked for food, she gave a quick run to the saloon doors beside the bar and called into the back for a pizza. I take it Gus is back there.

She started to make a drink making me think how known I was now. I have been here for two weeks, the time I figured I would be gone by. I do want to see what summer was like here, it was a beautiful place and I would love to really be at the beach one day.

Might as well stay, harvest the plants and take a vacation.

I ate my food as she made me three large drinks of the ones I spoke of, by the time I drank half of the third I really stopped myself. It was to much alcohol so I just got up and left not wanting to hit on Shane again.

Passing the store Pierre held the door open and called my name, I peered at him when he looked down. "Oh your hurt?"

"I am alright."

I guess my candles were doing good and he wanted more along with my number for custom made ones. He wrote them down and it made me so excited people want them.

"I also have a box for Leah but I can get someone else." I saw him pick a large box off the ground.

"I can take it." I need the money, he looked worried. "What is a drive really." He helped hand it over and I found out it really was heavy, it took me a while already regretting it and got it into my truck. I assume more clay, at least it was half the weight of the last one.

I pulled up to her small place and knocked but no one answered.

What is the criteria for this, leave it like fed ex? Bring it back later? I knocked once more.

I leaned on her cabin and looked around, not wanting to do something wrong with leaving it and really not wanting to lug it back I headed to the the nearby dock over the large pond, I limped down and flung my feet of the edge. Kicking my feet as they were just above the water.

Somewhere to sit, I could see her place from here even if it was a bit away. I watched the sunset that spread over the water, it was a wonderful view I never would get in the city.

I heard someone walking down the dock making me turn and look expecting Leah and finding Shane. He paused as he held a large box of beer looking like I was in his way but he walked forward. "Why are you here?" He asked rudely but he did not tell me to leave or even turn around himself I was so confused but he was already drunk, very drunk as he stumbled sitting next to me.

"No bar tonight?"

"Marnie got me a case when she was out of town." He grabbed one and handed it to me. "My favorite but Gus does not have it." He made a noise. "Small towns." He spoke with hate.

I opened up the one beer, I may have had some drinks but this should be fine and just sat next to him quietly making me drink it slightly fast.

He chugged one and tossed the empty beer can into the water. "Hey, don't do that!" I spoke loudly as I glared at him.

"Fuck you." He glared at me before he pulled out two more and handed me one more. "Fast drinker huh?" Again we just sat there in silence but I felt safe next to this guy, it did not bother me.

"Life." I heard him speak so quietly. "You ever feel like no matter what you do you will fail." He took a big drink as I sipped this one and looked at him. "Like your stuck in a miserable abyss where you can't see the light of day." He finished his drink and went to throw it but I grabbed it from his hand.

"Hea." He cracked another beer, I think it was almost all gone. "You try and climb out of the dark hole and you just can't."

He looked at me as I took a big drink of my beer. "Don't make that a habit, you got a future." He was so sad but he was talking to me.

"I have been there, drinking all night, I have many, many holes."

"How did you get out?"

I am still not really out but I did not need a second depressed person sitting here. "Find the light."

He hiccupped. "How?" He spoke with anger, I sat there.

Unsure what to say I stood up. "Like this." I smirked as I kicked off my shoes and socks before pulling down my short's but leaving my underwear on. His cheeks started to match his eye's and he looked away, I tossed my shirt on his head and jumped in.

My head popped out of the water, it was slightly cold but much warmer then the beach as I smiled up at him. I watched him take my shirt off his head and look at my clothes not looking my way. "Don't worry I am in my underwear." He did not move. "Come on, get in." I laughed at him. "It is not naked and it is not the beach but it is close."

He looked at me chugged his beer and stood up, I was unsure what he was going to do and I am unsure if he knew before he looked down again and kicked off his boots making me smile. He made me turn away when it was just his pants and then a splash hit me in the back of the head. I swam away slightly to give him space.

"This is different." He said as he floated and stared at the stars his mouth slightly in the water and he made it bubble. We just floated there, giving space as I treaded water feeling like I have not swam in ages as I would stay in the water I could touch the ground.

"What is a fuck it list?" He was staring at me.

I smiled. "I started a list of all I wanted to do here before I leave, things you can't do in a city filled with people." I swam backwards.

"What else is on it?"

"Getting lost in the woods."

"That is stupid." He went under the water for a second and came back up shaking the water from his hair, I just slowly started to swim around him in a wide circle, unsure if he still hated this, he just looks so angry all the time.

"A bonfire on the beach."

"That's not bad." He moved to still face me. "What have you done?"

I gave a coy smile. "Not to much." He just gave an annoyed noise when I got an idea. "You know what." I paused. "Come to my farm during the day when you are free, I have something I want to show you."

"Will your clothes be on?"

"Yes." I laughed.

"To bad." He angrily spoke, he made a joke? "Alright but I doubt it is any good."

"We will see."

He yawned. "You said I was on your fuck it list"

"Did I?" I remembered. "I don't remember that." I spoke in a high tone.

"You are a bad liar."

I laughed. "Ah I was drunk but maybe I can add it to my list, a small lame kiss before I go." I was only tipsy but I was so happy to feel so safe around this man as I flirted lightly.

"Why not now?"

"Your so drunk and then things would get... awkward."

He. "Ya, it would never be spoken of." I gave a short laugh in agreement, he just looked up. I looked at him, does he want me to?

Then again things are awkward between us, it is not like we are friends, I just stared at him wondering if I should, what is one simple innocent kiss? I moved closer but I startled him as he held me back with his hand under my chest making me feel embarrassed.

I was about to swim backwards when he dropped his hand as he stared at me and came closer.

Keeping my body as far away as I could I kissed him as I slightly parted my lips pressing into his for a second and slowly pulled away before I got some space as we are in our underwear and I don't want to start something more.

He opened his eye's at me. "There." I smiled. "One lame kiss."

He for once did not seem angry but not happy. "Ya, lame." There was a noise coming from Leah's cabin and I forgot why I was here but the noise seemed to bother him as he swam back to the edge of the lake.

He stumbled as he pulled himself up when I saw his wet underwear, I forgot and I turned away to make him feel better before I followed where he went, the pond was weirdly deep and I had to pull myself out like a pool onto the wet grass.

He was gathering his clothes before he paused as I got off my knees "Sorry." He stumbled trying not to look at me. "I just, I need to go."

He staggered at a normal pace towards home as he put on his shirt, I went and started to put on my clothes over my wet body.

"Sorry." A quiet voice spoke out as I saw Leah walk my way. "I tripped over a box to give space but It was such a cute moment." Sliding on my shoes and limped towards the women. "I am sorry that was creepy of me."

"It is fine." I smiled. "I brought a package for you."

"Ya you did." She laughed. "Who was he?" She asked like this was big gossip. We strolled back to her place and my truck, I was limping pretty bad.

"Oh him?" She did not see?

"Yes him." She was so interested.

"A friend from the city." He did not need more gossip, shit spreads and even I don't want them to all know. "His name is.. fred and he needed a place to stay for one night as he is just traveling by." Man I thought fast.

"Aw to bad." She looked down. "Oh this must be my clay." She bent down to open it. "I want to sculpt such a moment." I was confused at that. "You should come back and get a look at it when I am done." Worrying me of what it would look like. "It wont be what you think, it just gave me an idea."

I breathed out with a smile. "Okay." I put my hands in my pockets and got scared for a second I could not find my key's, right I left them in the truck. "Goodbye." I said awkwardly turning away.

This was a day.
